One of the best hotels in Algarve! A 600 year old convent converted hotel, yet it has all amenities and convenience a modern hotel has to offer. Good variety of breakfast. Room is spacious, bright and airy. Staff are friendly and helpful! A short walk to the Main Street where visitors can find Pharmacies, restaurants and boutiques. The hotel is at foot of the Castle of Tavira, public parking is limited, but the hotel has its own gated parking area, which is a huge plus for us.

A great opportunity to stay in a historic building in a fantastic location making it easy to explore Tavira. Breakfast was excellent as were all the friendly staff. Quiet pool area making for a very relaxing stay.

Never disappoints. This is our second time at this hotel and it is truly one of our favorite places to stay. From the moment you walk in the entrance you feel well cared for in every way. Need a restaurant suggestion if not eating at their own superb restaurant on site? They have one. Need a taxi? Suggestions for things to do, places to see, they can offer up all of it. But, really, you could be happy just being inside the premises. Their pool isn't heated, but in the hot days it is a perfect temperature and the loungers poolside offer food/bar service. Their breakfast is also the reason to come. Their buffet is a gourmands delight. The staff in general are a cut above and make you want to stay longer.

It was positively wonderful. The room were comfortable, the restaurant was great. Loved the hotel grounds. So many thoughtful details. The staff was friendly and so so so helpful. I would recommend this to anyone.

We were very warmly welcomed and loved our 2-floor suite. Breakfast was great and the hotel is very well located. There’s also a charger for cars in the parking lot.

My room was spacious but dark although that was not an issue as I came in to unwind and didn't want bright lights. The bed was fantastic, just like mine at home, so I slept really well. I think it helped that the old style wooden window shutters closed tightly each night so there were no chinks of light even if the sun was rising. I lazed by the pool for a few hours each day when the weather permitted and was surprised by how quiet and calm it was despite the roads surrounding us. Breakfast was plentiful and I also had a omelettes made to order a few times. I really enjoyed the carrot or beetroot juice options instead of the usual orange or apple. The evening meal I had was a feast and it was great to see Cataplana for 1 instead of the usual 2 minimum. I think the true test of the hotel though was on the Thursday as the weather was miserable. The hotel passed with flying colours as I chilled easily in the alcoves and courtyard, reading my books, having coffee and lunch without a care in the world - a weather enforced detox from a hectic lifestyle until mid-afternoon when the weather broke and I went for a wander through town. (The goat's cheese tart was absolutely amazing as well!) On that note, the courtyard, is a great space and it was normal to see breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks spill over into that area as there was ample space, tables and seating.

A beautiful hotel in the historic centre of Tavira, and right beside the castle. It’s a 5 minute walk from the bus station. The former convent has been beautifully restored, and the rooms are very comfortable.. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a landscaped swimming pool area, and a lovely central courtyard for relaxation. It’s one of the most elegant hotels I have stayed in.

The building was beautiful. Our room was in a newer building and had a peculiar smell - originally a very strong smell of disinfectant ( a public indoor pool type smell) All other aspects of the hotel were excellent, breakfast was good. Communal areas were lovely. Perfectly situated. Helpful staff.

A lovely few days in July. Room Was clean and staff were very nice and helpful. Setting is beautiful and as an historic building, it’s original renovation was good. Looking tired in parts and could do with a bit of a refresh but nevertheless none of that detracted from a lovely few days and I would definitely return.

O hotel é extremamente bem localizado, inserido no centro histórico da cidade. Alias, as instalações do próprio hotel fazem parte do roteiro turístico, uma vez que seu prédio era originalmente um convento. A aura do local é maravilhosa, ao imaginarmos tudo o que já presenciou. Infelizmente o pátio central estava em reforma (fato que deveriam mencionar na reserva), comprometendo o visual com andaimes. O quarto era confortável, o chuveiro e a torneira estavam ligando juntas, impactando a vazão e acumulando água na banheira. O staff foi informado do problema, espero que resolvam. Staff gentil e atencioso.

As other reviewers have said, the hotel is generally exceptional in all respects. In my case, however, there were two unfortunate exceptions. The first was the bed. It’s no exaggeration to describe it as the hardest I have ever experienced. Had I not pre-paid I would have left after the first night. I complained to the receptionist in the morning. She seemed unconcerned. I asked if a topper could be added and she agreed to arrange it. Nothing had happened by 4pm so I went to see her again. She pretended to be engrossed in work and didn’t even look up at me. I complained to Expedia. By 4.30 the topper was in place! The second weak point was the above receptionist, who must have attended the same course as the one on duty when I left. She too ignored me as I stood in front of her to give my key back. I had stayed there for over a week and I expected the receptionist to hope that I’d enjoyed my stay, that she hoped that I’d stay there again, and to wish me a pleasant journey. But nothing! A complete contrast to the exceptionally friendly male receptionists and restaurant workers who had greeted me every day. A word to the wise!

Beautifully restored monastery. Was a delight to stay and explore the building and its surroundings. Our room was a good size, very comfortable and had all the amenities we required. Evening meal was very enjoyable and good value. Good choice at Breakfast. We will definitely use other Pousada hotels in the Algarve.

The property had a lot of common areas that were spacious and easy to meet up with friends. The staff were friendly and helpful, We had dinner at the restaurant and it was great! Love the history preserved in the building!

As other reviewers have said, the hotel is generally exceptional in all respects. In my case, however, there were two unfortunate exceptions. The first was the bed. It’s no exaggeration to describe it as the hardest I have ever experienced. Had I not pre-paid I would have left after the first night. I complained to the receptionist in the morning. She seemed unconcerned. I asked if a topper could be added and she agreed to arrange it. Nothing had happened by 4pm so I went to see her again. She pretended to be engrossed in work and didn’t even look up at me. I complained to Expedia. By 4.30 the topper was in place! The second weak point was the above receptionist, who must have attended the same course as the one on duty when I left. She too ignored me as I stood in front of her to give my key back. I had stayed there for over a week and I expected the receptionist to hope that I’d enjoyed my stay, that she hoped that I’d stay there again, and to wish me a pleasant journey. But nothing! A complete contrast to the exceptionally friendly male receptionists and restaurant workers who had greeted me every day. A word to the wise!

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It was our first stay at a Pousada and it will definitely not be our last. We were given an upgrade to a suite on arrival which made our stay even better. The staff are all very friendly and efficient - first class level of service.

It was positively wonderful. The room were comfortable, the restaurant was great. Loved the hotel grounds. So many thoughtful details. The staff was friendly and so so so helpful. I would recommend this to anyone.

We enjoyed everything about our stay, especially the friendliness of all the staff. With no exception they were professional, eager to help and always smiling. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of hot and cold choices and drinks. The location is perfect for visiting the attractions of this characterful little town. We would return.

One of the best hotels in Algarve! A 600 year old convent converted hotel, yet it has all amenities and convenience a modern hotel has to offer. Good variety of breakfast. Room is spacious, bright and airy. Staff are friendly and helpful! A short walk to the Main Street where visitors can find Pharmacies, restaurants and boutiques. The hotel is at foot of the Castle of Tavira, public parking is limited, but the hotel has its own gated parking area, which is a huge plus for us.

The convent is on the top of the hill next to the castle. We enjoyed staying in a place with such history. Tavira is a quiet town, we enjoyed walking along the river.

The staff were amazing. They gave a tour or property to show us all amenities and a brief history of the property. The property was beautifully restored with perfect details and well thought out finishings. Also, located in the old town and close to everything you want to see.

A beautiful hotel in the historic centre of Tavira, and right beside the castle. It’s a 5 minute walk from the bus station. The former convent has been beautifully restored, and the rooms are very comfortable.. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a landscaped swimming pool area, and a lovely central courtyard for relaxation. It’s one of the most elegant hotels I have stayed in.

The breakfast was fantastic! The crispy ravioli was just okay. There was a door in the dining area that when closed it made a big bang which was a bit startling and annoying, but that’s all that I would complain about. Guests should note that the neighboring church bells ring starting at 8am.

The only item I can say wasn't 100% to my satisfaction was the water pressure in the shower. I know I'm nitpicking. The breakfast was wonderful and there were so many different cheeses to try (7? 8?) and breads to choose from.

Great location! Hotel was historic and staff was super kind and accommodating. Breakfast was amazing with a lot of options. Diner menu needs a bit of work and wine menu needs to be updated but still a great place to stay!

Beautifully restored monastery. Was a delight to stay and explore the building and its surroundings. Our room was a good size, very comfortable and had all the amenities we required. Evening meal was very enjoyable and good value. Good choice at Breakfast. We will definitely use other Pousada hotels in the Algarve.

We stayed for 4 nights in early January and were very well treated by all the friendly staff. The room was clean and well maintained, and breakfast was decent and we could even order our eggs from the kitchen. The hot water in the shower worked well and did not have to wait for it to warm up. It is one hotel we would return to if we are back in Tavira.
