The hotel rooms are above a bar. We were allocated the room just above it (it was a larger room than what we booked). The place is old but mostly clean (except the towels; a couple were stained). We couldn’t understand why there were earplugs next to beds. We did later at night: There was a live rock concert in the bar the Saturday we stayed. The earplugs made zero difference — the whole building was reverberating with the noise of the music (like at a rock concert). It stopped after midnight. We should have either been offered a quieter (further away) room, or at least given an advance warning (and opportunity to cancel) about the concert. It might be ok on other days of the week, but we won’t stay here again.

The hotel s really a old stype Inn. There is no front desk or hotel lounge. You go to the Tavern next and receive your key and then go next door and up the stairs to your room. No elevator that I could discern. If you are good with all of this old style of hotelry... then you are good.

Great historic hotel. Hoiwever, certain rooms are over top of fist floor bar and can be very noisy . No coffee service available. And weekend cafe hours across street not open til 8am. Management -Please consider coffee options at hotel in morning!!

We needed a place to stay on the fly while traveling. Rate was good, called but had to book online only, which fortunately we were able to do. Cons-This was a new experience. You had to go into the bar to get the room key and combination to outer door. Our room was 3 flights of stairs up. No elevator. There were no washcloths so back down the steps to the bar because there was no phone. Water from sink had an odd taste and smell. The room was small, but (pros) quaint and clean. Bed had fitted sheet only and blanket, but we were fine. Window unit a/c was a bit loud but would've helped block out road noise if we'd left it on. Was thankful to not be directly over the bar for noise. Manager was very apologetic about the wash cloths. Apogized profusly. Room rate was very good.

No coffee maker (but there was a fridge and microwave), no hair dryer, no space in bathroom for toiletries, and while there is plenty of drawer space, there's nowhere for hanging clothes other than 2 hooks in the bathroom. There is a bank outside the window and the ATM lights and street lights light up the room, even with the mini-blinds closed. A black-out shade would help. The room is up 4 flights of stairs so if you have a heavy bag or health problems, take your time. Overall, I would probably stay there again because I have a friend who lives nearby.

Had a very quick one night stay. Friday night, so even though there wasn't live music, the sound of the bar below was still enough to interrupt my sleep until they closed. Very simple room/bed/bathroom. Bare bones but clean and in the heart of quaint Mercersburg. Would ask for an upper floor next time if available.

Very clean. Room 1 has multiple bedrooms and is good for families. The bed near from window will hear semi’s rumbling through town all night so put someone hard of hearing in that bed. Clean, clean, clean!

The location of Stoner’s is very convenient and close to Mercersburg Academy where I was attending a reunion. The room was small…no chair , small bathroom but quiet and met my needs. No elevator, on the 3rd floor so not a place for people with disabilities. Would have liked a bigger bed. The room and bathroom were spotless. Very impressed with that!

We enjoyed our stay! We wondered one thing however. Why did you put us in the very last room lol?! We laughed carrying all of our things. We felt safe! Just curious if there was a reason. Cute room, very clean and quiet. The only staff we saw was a friendly bartender briefly for the key and pin, so I rated that as “average”.

Overall, our stay was ok. The room was clean and large enough for our family (7 total). My only complaints are that the areas where the bedrooms were got hot due to their being only one window unit for the whole room. Also, the beds are not comfortable. However, the hotel is very cool and the history is interesting.

The hotel felt safe, it was a very spacious room (King + daybed), one window AC unit for a large space; however, it was hot. There is significant road noise but they provide ear plugs. Town felt safe, nice place to crash for a night with my family and dogs.

This is an older hotel (as in historic). No elevator, but that wasn't a problem even though I'm a senior. The room was very large, with a sitting area and lots of windows. The only issue was our room was directly above the tavern and on Saturday night, it was quite lively -- live music and sounds of people having fun. It would have been better to go down and join them than trying to sleep! (Quieted down a little after midnight.) However, Sunday night was completely quiet. The town was small and cute with a couple of dining options. However, Monday morning, everything was closed, and we had to go to the next town to find breakfast. Definitely not a deal-breaker however, as this was just a leisurely long weekend trip. If you like small towns and are not wedded to chain hotels, this was a nice place to stay. I would stay there again.

Definitely not a deal-breaker however, as this was just a leisurely long weekend trip. If you like small towns and are not wedded to chain hotels, this was a nice place to stay. The location of Stoner’s is very convenient and close to Mercersburg Academy where I was attending a reunion. The room was small…no chair , small bathroom but quiet and met my needs. No elevator, on the 3rd floor so not a place for people with disabilities. Would have liked a bigger bed. The room and bathroom were spotless. Very impressed with that!

Such a great little historical town. Very clean and friendly people. Owners are extremely nice and took the time to talk and have pleasant conversation. Food was great across the street at the Pub in which they own as well.

The hotel felt safe, it was a very spacious room (King + daybed), one window AC unit for a large space; however, it was hot. There is significant road noise but they provide ear plugs. Town felt safe, nice place to crash for a night with my family and dogs.

Had a very quick one night stay. Friday night, so even though there wasn't live music, the sound of the bar below was still enough to interrupt my sleep until they closed. Very simple room/bed/bathroom. Bare bones but clean and in the heart of quaint Mercersburg. Would ask for an upper floor next time if available.

This is an older hotel (as in historic). No elevator, but that wasn't a problem even though I'm a senior. The room was very large, with a sitting area and lots of windows. The only issue was our room was directly above the tavern and on Saturday night, it was quite lively -- live music and sounds of people having fun. It would have been better to go down and join them than trying to sleep! (Quieted down a little after midnight.) However, Sunday night was completely quiet. Great historic hotel. Hoiwever, certain rooms are over top of fist floor bar and can be very noisy . No coffee service available. And weekend cafe hours across street not open til 8am. Management -Please consider coffee options at hotel in morning!!

Cute old hotel in a lovely town with a restaurant across the street as well as a coffee shop. Staff was nice and very helpful. The room (#10) was clean and cozy but few amenities. No coffee maker (but there was a fridge and microwave), no hair dryer, no space in bathroom for toiletries, and while there is plenty of drawer space, there's nowhere for hanging clothes other than 2 hooks in the bathroom. There is a bank outside the window and the ATM lights and street lights light up the room, even with the mini-blinds closed. A black-out shade would help. The room is up 4 flights of stairs so if you have a heavy bag or health problems, take your time. Overall, I would probably stay there again because I have a friend who lives nearby.
