The house itself was clean, well maintained, and matched the photos. Our concerns were primarily with the rental company and the accuracy of the listing.About 36 hours before arrival, we were notified that the downstairs air conditioning was not working. The rental company couldn't offer a comparable replacement. The only alternative was a property about 8 miles away in a different location than we had specifically chosen. I found a nearby rental myself and asked if they would cover the price difference, but they declined. Our only other option was to cancel, which wasn't practical, so we stayed.The VRBO listing was also misleading. A hot tub is advertised under "Popular Amenities" alongside private amenities like a kitchen, washer, dryer, air conditioning, and parking, leading us to believe the home had its own hot tub. When I asked about it, I was told they meant the community hot tub and apologized for my "misunderstanding." Listing a community amenity this way feels misleading.The home was also stocked with fewer basic consumables than any rental we've stayed in. There wasn't even a single coffee filter for the first morning, and the salt and pepper shakers were empty. These are small things individually, but together they reflected a disappointing level of preparation and hospitality. It is disappointing that VRBO doesn't catch the inaccuracies in the advertisements.
