Superb accommodation. Beautifully considered mix of the old and the new. I have stayed her a number of times and LOVE it. The greatest pleasure was to have sole access to the whole Abbaye when the public left. MAGICAL. The erastuiarant is also very special.

My husband and I stayed at Fontevraud Abbey for a night and it was honestly the highlight of our France trip. There is a light show next week and they were practicing which was great that we got a free preview of it! Plus we hadn't realised we get to view the abbey until midnight and the next day as included in the price of our hotel stay. The bar and food service was also great. The only thing I would say is that we weren't notified that the bar closed at 10 and we did manage to thankfully get 1 drink from the front desk staff at 10.30-ish but I know several people did not know about this closing time. But overall would absolutely recommend staying at this hotel!

Excellent sejour à l'abbaye et la possibilite de visiter celle-ci dans de tres bonnes conditions. Le jardin de l'abbaye etait magnifiquement habille de multiples illuminations. la chambre etait propre et spacieuse. Le diner dans le restaurant étoilé etait une pure merveille de l'entree au dessert. Le sommelier nous a fait découvrir de tres bons vins. Le petit dejeuner etait ewcellent. et servi dans une ancienne eglise de l'abbatiale: magnifique.

Mitten im Kloster welches die Hausgäste nachts besichtigen können, eine wundervolle Erfahrung. Tolles, sehr freundliches, englisch sprachiges Personal. Ruhige Lage, schöne moderne Zimmer. Anstelle im Restaurant zu essen, hat man die Möglichkeit sich einen Picknickkorb richten zu lassen und im Klostergarten zu picknicken. Wundervoll. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ett underbart hotell i en liten pittoresk by. Klostret är enastående och på kvällen fick vi vara med om en ljusshow som var enastående. Dessvärre var restaurangen ( en stjärnig) fullbokad, så vi fick bege oss in till by, där vi blev positivt överraskad över den goda maten. Ett hotell att övernatta på, det lite höga priset till trotts.

Front desk staff were extremely helpful and offered amazing places to eat as the main restaurant was fully booked. Both places were exceptional and earned a 10/10 rating for food service and ambiance.

The setting is quite spectacular and the hotel rooms are stylish if a little small. Unfortunately, my husband accidentally, kicked his glasses under the bed and when we tried to retrieve them saw that cleaning under the bed is not a priority. A lot of dust etc. Otherwise the room was spotless. I had also emailed the hotel a few days before asking if we could eat in the restaurant. They only told me on arrival that it was fully booked until October. It would have been helpful to have known in advance. We took the option of a ‘picnic hamper’ which was disappointing to say the least. The breakfast was slightly underwhelming. A nice selection of items from local producers but luke warm coffee out of a thermos jug is not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. I think they could serve a pot of coffee or tea at the table without too much trouble. The reception staff were extremely pleasant and helpful I must say.

Site internet MENSONGER les chambres classiques n'ont pas de salle de bain mais des salles d'eau. J'avais stipulé lors de ma réservation que je souhaitais une baignoire je n'ai pas eu de réponse de la réception à cette demande. On m'a changé ma chambre moyennant un supplément de 20 € pour une baignoire. Pour info : Hôtel 4* chambre à prix conséquent. Voici la propreté de la chambre en photo. Du noir dans la cuvette des toilettes des taches sur les murs de la salle de bain les vitres sales le sol qui colle et qui est tâché. Une réception qui ne se remet pas en question et qui me soutient qu'il est indiqué sur le site internet que les chambres classiques sont avec salle d eau. Voici la preuve en photo.

The room in Fontevraud L'Ermitage was pleasant, it was clean and the beds were good. Perfect for 2 or 3 nights. The room was quite warm in August, there were fans but they made little difference. We also missed having a seat. We were with 4 people, so sometimes we had to wait for each other. Don’t go for the breakfast, the selection is very limited and we found it very disappointing for the price.

Chambre et sdb parfaites. Tout est très bien pensé et très élégant . Je ne mets pas 5* car le le prix du petit déjeuner 20€ est bien cher pour ce qui est proposé. On s'attendait à mieux !!! Maintenant, nous étions hors saison et nous que 4 convives pour le petit déjeuner ... J'espère que c'est la raison qui explique le manque de choix pour un prix un peu élévé .... Par ailleurs, nous sommes passés un lundi et il n'y avait absolument RIEN pour noius rassasier. Arrivés à 14h30 nius n'avionspas déjeuné et espértions pouvoir prendre une collation. Là aussi nous évons été très décus. Mis àç part cela, notre séjour a été agique et féérique. Le site est sublime et nous avons la chance de pouvoir visiter l'abbaye seuls au monde. C'était vr

Excellent séjour. La visite nocturne de l’abbaye est sublime et fait rêver. Tout était de qualité. La déco de la chambre était un peu minimaliste mais le confort et la propreté étaient au rdv.

Chambre très sobre peut être un peu trop La douche dans la salle de bain mériterait un peu d’entretien Ce qui est top c’est le petit déjeuner et le déjeuner Et pouvoir visiter le site la nuit c’est magique

The room in Fontevraud L'Ermitage was pleasant, it was clean and the beds were good. Perfect for 2 or 3 nights. The room was quite warm in August, there were fans but they made little difference. We also missed having a seat. We were with 4 people, so sometimes we had to wait for each other. Don’t go for the breakfast, the selection is very limited and we found it very disappointing for the price.

Chambre confortable mais petite. Cadre magnifique des vieux bâtiments de l’abbaye où est installé l’hôtel, avec une mention spéciale pour le petit déjeuner servi sous les arcades d’un petit cloître. Très agréables terrasse et salon également avec café et thé a disposition.

Excellent séjour. La visite nocturne de l’abbaye est sublime et fait rêver. Tout était de qualité. La déco de la chambre était un peu minimaliste mais le confort et la propreté étaient au rdv.

The setting is quite spectacular and the hotel rooms are stylish if a little small. Unfortunately, my husband accidentally, kicked his glasses under the bed and when we tried to retrieve them saw that cleaning under the bed is not a priority. A lot of dust etc. Otherwise the room was spotless. I had also emailed the hotel a few days before asking if we could eat in the restaurant. They only told me on arrival that it was fully booked until October. It would have been helpful to have known in advance. We took the option of a ‘picnic hamper’ which was disappointing to say the least. The breakfast was slightly underwhelming. A nice selection of items from local producers but luke warm coffee out of a thermos jug is not what I would expect from a hotel of this standard. I think they could serve a pot of coffee or tea at the table without too much trouble. The reception staff were extremely pleasant and helpful I must say.

This is my second stay at the hotel. I had a wonderful experience previously and wanted to begin with that. After my recent business trip, I was disappointed. Our rooms had no functioning hot water in our rooms (Jardin) room the morning of our departure. This was unfortunate because I was hoping to walk the grounds before we left for our meeting. Instead, we lingered hoping to shower, and eventually left unshowered and instead had a mediocre breakfast. Overall, a major letdown. All of that considered I will try again but next time, stay in the main building. The jardin rooms are small and one of my group complained of this.

Front desk staff were extremely helpful and offered amazing places to eat as the main restaurant was fully booked. Both places were exceptional and earned a 10/10 rating for food service and ambiance.

A fabulous hotel. What a privilege to be able to stay in Fontevraud-l’Abbaye Abbey. The ability to walk around after the public has gone up to 12.30 at night was amazing! The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was beautiful. Take time to go to the restaurant in the Cloisters. Such an experience . Very highly recommend

Аtmosphere and ambience, everything was above our expectations. It is especially nice that staying at the hotel you can explore the Abbey until midnight. Everything is open and there are crowds free. The smell of the herbs in the gardens is simply divine! Oh, and don't skip breakfast under any circumstances. The experience is unique.

Superb accommodation. Beautifully considered mix of the old and the new. I have stayed her a number of times and LOVE it. The greatest pleasure was to have sole access to the whole Abbaye when the public left. MAGICAL. The erastuiarant is also very special.

Excellent sejour à l'abbaye et la possibilite de visiter celle-ci dans de tres bonnes conditions. Le jardin de l'abbaye etait magnifiquement habille de multiples illuminations. la chambre etait propre et spacieuse. Le diner dans le restaurant étoilé etait une pure merveille de l'entree au dessert. Le sommelier nous a fait découvrir de tres bons vins. Le petit dejeuner etait ewcellent. et servi dans une ancienne eglise de l'abbatiale: magnifique.

The breakfast was horrible , mostly bread and and only ham and smoked fish and butter, beside some serials and eggs that look so bad , honestly I’ve been in 50 hotels in 2025 and this is one of the worst for 4 stars hotels, even ibis hotel breakfast is better

Ett underbart hotell i en liten pittoresk by. Klostret är enastående och på kvällen fick vi vara med om en ljusshow som var enastående. Dessvärre var restaurangen ( en stjärnig) fullbokad, så vi fick bege oss in till by, där vi blev positivt överraskad över den goda maten. Ett hotell att övernatta på, det lite höga priset till trotts.

Chambre et sdb parfaites. Tout est très bien pensé et très élégant . Je ne mets pas 5* car le le prix du petit déjeuner 20€ est bien cher pour ce qui est proposé. On s'attendait à mieux !!! Maintenant, nous étions hors saison et nous que 4 convives pour le petit déjeuner ... J'espère que c'est la raison qui explique le manque de choix pour un prix un peu élévé .... Par ailleurs, nous sommes passés un lundi et il n'y avait absolument RIEN pour noius rassasier. Arrivés à 14h30 nius n'avionspas déjeuné et espértions pouvoir prendre une collation. Là aussi nous évons été très décus. Mis àç part cela, notre séjour a été agique et féérique. Le site est sublime et nous avons la chance de pouvoir visiter l'abbaye seuls au monde. C'était vr

Entorno idílico y habitación cómoda y limpia. Sin embargo hay ciertos detalles que un hotel de cuatro estrellas no debería pasar por alto, como el que no tengan champús y cosas de aseo personal. El desayuno por 20 euros es correcto pero faltan cosas calientes. Es casi un buffet de bollería y charcutería

If you love hotels with history, this is the place for you. Once a monastery, then a prison, and now the resting place of Richard the Lionheart, staying here feels like being immersed in centuries of French history. The setting within the former Fontevraud Abbey is truly unique and gives the hotel an atmosphere that is difficult to find elsewhere. Just outside the hotel grounds is the picturesque village of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, with restaurants, bars and a traditional boulangerie. One of my favourite memories was heading out for my early morning runs before the day had begun and smelling fresh bread and pastries coming from the boulangerie. It was one of those simple, wonderfully French moments that really added to the experience. The hotel also makes a great base for exploring the Loire Valley, with its châteaux, vineyards and beautiful countryside all within easy reach. After a day of exploring, returning to the peaceful surroundings of the abbey was a real pleasure. For a special occasion, I’d definitely recommend treating yourself to dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. It was the perfect way to round off our stay and made the whole experience even more memorable. Overall, this is much more than simply a place to stay. The combination of history, character, location and atmosphere makes Fontevraud L’Ermitage a genuinely memorable hotel experience.

After a day of exploring, returning to the peaceful surroundings of the abbey was a real pleasure. For a special occasion, I’d definitely recommend treating yourself to dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. It was the perfect way to round off our stay and made the whole experience even more memorable. Overall, this is much more than simply a place to stay. The combination of history, character, location and atmosphere makes Fontevraud L’Ermitage a genuinely memorable hotel experience.

We stayed in the double room 2 adults and 2 kids The room is comfortable to sleep but there is no aircon - to note if you stay in summer. The bathroom has very nice local soap and smelled really nice. The breakfast had good local products. It’s quite simple but has enough choice. Eating dinner if you don’t book 3 month upfront he Michelin restaurant can be a challenge. Prepare yourself to have to drive around if you are not satisfied with what the village has to offer. The staff was very helpful in transporting our luggage from the car park to the room. You can have direct access to the abbaye to visit. It’s a beautiful place with amazing history I think it’s a great place to stay to especially if you like understated spaces, beautiful design, and minimalist / austere ambiance.

The hotel is located within a wider converted estate with LOADS of history and tastefully restored. We were lucky enough to see the light display. It was a really amazing place at a good price.

Bjr nous regrettons que lors de notre séjour il n'y est pas de climatisation des chambres !! et que les volets soient a l'intérieur ce qui n'arrange pas la chaleur a l'intérieur !!! pour le reste bien le site est agréable et jolie
