Very nice and helpful staff. The restaurant food is excellent (Vasco was the only one open, in spite of summer high season). Grounds are not well kept. Carpets in rooms and hallways need urgent removal, their cleaning product "perfume" in the rooms is overbearing.

Gorgeous place with excellent service and three dining options except Sundays - we were disappointed the main restaurant wasn’t open on a Sunday evening - but the other options were good. Just a shake the pnce pristine fruit & vegetable garde s aren’t what the once were - the formal gardens & main seating area is good and the service excellent

Magnificent property in extensive grounds. The bar was staffed infrequently and closed/lights were out early (c22:00). Despite temperatures in the mid 20s there was no seating area outside to take a drink in the warm sunshine. It would seem the hotel has switched into autumn mode.

The setting is gorgeous amidst a park with tall trees. Our room was spacious and everything is nicely decorated. There are also three restaurants on spot.

This hotel has gone downhill over the last Two years. Service is not good, furniture has disappeared from the bar which was most unwelcoming and extremely difficult to get someone to serve. We will not be staying here again. Shame.

Nice chateau hotel, creaking boards and all. Very comfortable, nice room and bed, clean bathroom, however.... the service in the Robert 2 gastronomic restaurant was nothing short of awful, not due to the sole waitress who didn't stop for the 3 hours we were there, but the lack of staff and service. Food excellent when it arrived. We took the wine pairings, however with our finished entree plates in front of us for 45 minutes before a further 30 mins for the main course the wine pairing with the entree had long been consumed. The room service was poor. We were left without a toilet roll for our last day (we stayed 3 nights), and the upturned wine glasses were not clean, smelled strongly of stale wine! On our arrival the check-in queue was long with long waits - lack of staff. The hotel is showing signs of decline. Hopefully they can turn it around.

A once good hotel that's fading a little. It could use a deep clean, paint and new mattresses. The restaurants are greatly overpriced and the quality of the food (think frozen veg) is very average. The staff are lovely, they save the place.

Charming hotel with nice characteful rooms. Only complaint would be the bathroom. Bath was located below the sloping roof and behind the toiletroom in a corner. Showering was impossible and while my wife and myself aren’t that old, getting in and out of the bath was a challenge. Breakfast was nice with fresh fruits and juice but quite sober in offering. Would only advice for a single night.

Hotel relatively quiet. Ground floor room not great but quite clean. Booked dinner in the La Distillerie- very busy: food adequate but not great, service stretched and therefore took time to get served. Breakfast included- certainly wouldn’t pay extra as it was again uninspiring.

Séjour très décevant en compagnie de mon épouse, loin des standards d’un 4 étoiles. L’accueil était plutôt moyen, et le service globalement insuffisant. Le bar, en particulier, a été une vraie déception : la serveuse ne savait pas préparer un Negroni (pourtant à la carte) et nous a servi un verre ébréché pour pour une bière. Il semble que le personnel soit essentiellement mobilisé pour les événements privés, notamment les mariages, reléguant les clients de l’hôtel au second plan. C’est vraiment dommage, car l’établissement a du potentiel. Dans ce contexte, un geste commercial aurait été le bienvenu, mais il n’a pas été proposé. Enfin, la chambre était correcte mais très bruyante en raison des festivités, et le manque de vraie climatisation s’est fait cruellement sentir avec la chaleur ambiante.

Lovely spot easy to find and close to autoroute for stop off Harding for south coast . Bed very comfortable, stayed on one of those very hot days - Only thing below par was the air con wasn’t working and took a while to try and cool the room with windows open .

We stayed here for one night as a treat for our last night after 4 weeks travelling around France. Ended up most expensive , disappointing and worst night sleep in number of years travelling . We were given top floor corner room which was sickeningly too hot compared to rest of hotel, although room was clearly set up with functionality for air cooling in the room and electronically connected we were told not available, staff appeared uninterested and we weee just told we couldn't swap rooms as hotel full and hotel didn't provide fans . It was so unbearably hot in there my husband had to drive out to buy a fan from a home depo near by for a further 42 euros. Worst again when we later in evening went down to reception and asked for jug of water and ice as so hot in room , although still clearly available on tables in restaurant next to reception where we had purchased a meal only hour earlier , the only option we were given was to buy a bottle of water for further 5 euros , told no ice or clean glasses as glasses in room, jugs were for restaurant . We had awful night sleep, left 3 hours earlier than needed as so unbearable . Even when we complained again in morning re having to pay for water when rooms so hot and reception knew we had purchase fan, they again were just uninterested . For a 4x hotel and 220 euro stay (plus fan and buying water ! ) Think guests should atleast be provided with a fan, as for no free water or ice unless sat in restaurant 10 feet away !

Very nice large hotel with grounds - we stayed in a lovely new large family room , perfect for the family and kids - it was a very nice choice . Our only concern was the 1 hour wait for food at the restaurant

This is an old, classic French chateau which really needs to be updated. Everything seemed to be worn and tired. Nowadays guests need electrical outlets to charge phones, etc. The staff was competent and efficient but could have been more welcoming and friendlier. With more care and attention, this could be a very nice place to stay.

Wir hatten dieses Hotel zum zweiten Mal gebucht, doch wie so oft ist beim ersten Mal alles besser. Die Zimmer sind groß und sehr nett eingerichtet. Parkplätze sind kostenlos und direkt vor der Tür. Leider hatte das Restaurant Le Robert, ein wichtiger Grund unserer Buchung, ohne jegliche Vorhersage geschlossen. Das zweite Restaurant etwas abseits des Hotels können wir nicht empfehlen, es war eher Großküche als gehobene Gastronomie. Zum Zeitpunkt unserer Reise war das Frühstück inklusive, Was allerdings den Namen nicht einmal annähernd verdiente, es bestand lediglich aus zwei Sorten Käse, keinerlei Wurst oder ähnlichem. Das sonst wirklich sehr schöne Hotel wird durch diese Unannehmlichkeiten fast schon unattraktiv.

Very comfortable, nice room and bed, clean bathroom, however.... the service in the Robert 2 gastronomic restaurant was nothing short of awful, not due to the sole waitress who didn't stop for the 3 hours we were there, but the lack of staff and service. Food excellent when it arrived. We took the wine pairings, however with our finished entree plates in front of us for 45 minutes before a further 30 mins for the main course the wine pairing with the entree had long been consumed. The room service was poor. We were left without a toilet roll for our last day (we stayed 3 nights), and the upturned wine glasses were not clean, smelled strongly of stale wine! On our arrival the check-in queue was long with long waits - lack of staff. The hotel is showing signs of decline. Hopefully they can turn it around.

Great location. Beautiful building. Very tired and in need of a huge injection of cash. Practically no staff. Very frosty “welcome’ from receptionist. No info offered on dinner reservations at the restaurant or breakfast times. Receptionist couldn’t be bothered to serve us a drink at the bar (no bar staff). Large minimally attended garden (great for the dog as nothing to ruin!). Room adequate, bathroom functional rather than stylish, air con didn’t work, of the 2 windows only one could be opened as the other had a missing handle (and it was boiling hot!). Charged double for the dog - 30€ as opposed to the advertised rate (on all platforms as well as at the entrance to the hotel) of 15€. Receptionist completely unhelpful. Wrote to manager - that was in June, still no reply. Could be a fantastic place but sadly a very poor experience. We would never go back.

We have stayed a few times before but this time found the service less satisfactory. Welcome at reception was polite but no warmth. We asked about the heating in our room which hadn’t come on. The receptionist said she would come back to us but we had no response. Eventually it came on automatically. Leaves a bad impression.

Séjour très décevant en compagnie de mon épouse, loin des standards d’un 4 étoiles. L’accueil était plutôt moyen, et le service globalement insuffisant. Le bar, en particulier, a été une vraie déception : la serveuse ne savait pas préparer un Negroni (pourtant à la carte) et nous a servi un verre ébréché pour pour une bière. Il semble que le personnel soit essentiellement mobilisé pour les événements privés, notamment les mariages, reléguant les clients de l’hôtel au second plan. C’est vraiment dommage, car l’établissement a du potentiel. Dans ce contexte, un geste commercial aurait été le bienvenu, mais il n’a pas été proposé. Enfin, la chambre était correcte mais très bruyante en raison des festivités, et le manque de vraie climatisation s’est fait cruellement sentir avec la chaleur ambiante.

This hotel has gone downhill over the last Two years. Service is not good, furniture has disappeared from the bar which was most unwelcoming and extremely difficult to get someone to serve. We will not be staying here again. Shame.

We wanted to find a new stopover hotel for Eurotunnel. It was a little bit far but otherwise we had a very nice stay. The hotel was very quiet. The decor is very traditional (flowery wallpaper matching flowery counterpane) so you need to like that, there is no modern crossover although the bathroom was excellent - great shower! Nice freebie touches too and a fully stocked mini-bar (rare these days). The antiques and paintings are beautiful and the restaurant (La Distillerie) was buzzy and had a magnificent log fire going on. Food was plentiful and tasty. The breakfast was also very good although rather expensive at €20pp and they would not allow me to have just a coffee and pastry for a lesser price. The park and gardens must be beautiful in the Spring - it would soften the rather austere appearance of the chateau.

We had a lovely overnight stay here. The room was lovely, and the hotel itself, had so many lovely areas to sit if you wanted. We ate in one of the restaurants and the food and service was excellent. The breakfast was also lovely. I would recommend visiting here. We walked in the grounds- some of the gardens seemed a bit sad which was a shame since it’s a lovely setting and very close to the motorway for a stopover.

What a haven of tranquility! we woke up to the sound of birdsong and a wonderful view of the old stables- could almost hear the clip clopping of the horses of long ago. We will definitely come here in future on our way from the UK to Europe. Great breakfast too!

This monastery is a beautiful place and very convenient for people travelling to and from England via Le Shuttle. It has a rather deserted be that we really like. A very old, very large house with empty wide corridors, with extraordinary walls, a beautiful garden with extraordinary walls that needs more attention but is nevertheless a lovely place to wander in. The food at one of the three Restaurants we ate in is very good. It must be difficult to get serving staff these days in such an out-of-the-way place and the young people were doing their best without much training.... Wolves it and have been twice now - it will be one of our " go to" post or pre-Tunnel stops. Lovely place! So glad we found it 🙂

Wir hatten dieses Hotel zum zweiten Mal gebucht, doch wie so oft ist beim ersten Mal alles besser. Die Zimmer sind groß und sehr nett eingerichtet. Parkplätze sind kostenlos und direkt vor der Tür. Leider hatte das Restaurant Le Robert, ein wichtiger Grund unserer Buchung, ohne jegliche Vorhersage geschlossen. Das zweite Restaurant etwas abseits des Hotels können wir nicht empfehlen, es war eher Großküche als gehobene Gastronomie. Zum Zeitpunkt unserer Reise war das Frühstück inklusive, Was allerdings den Namen nicht einmal annähernd verdiente, es bestand lediglich aus zwei Sorten Käse, keinerlei Wurst oder ähnlichem. Das sonst wirklich sehr schöne Hotel wird durch diese Unannehmlichkeiten fast schon unattraktiv.

Gorgeous place with excellent service and three dining options except Sundays - we were disappointed the main restaurant wasn’t open on a Sunday evening - but the other options were good. Just a shake the pnce pristine fruit & vegetable garde s aren’t what the once were - the formal gardens & main seating area is good and the service excellent

A once good hotel that's fading a little. It could use a deep clean, paint and new mattresses. The restaurants are greatly overpriced and the quality of the food (think frozen veg) is very average. The staff are lovely, they save the place.

Hotel relatively quiet. Ground floor room not great but quite clean. Booked dinner in the La Distillerie- very busy: food adequate but not great, service stretched and therefore took time to get served. Breakfast included- certainly wouldn’t pay extra as it was again uninspiring.

Camera pulita e accogliente, quiete assoluta e personale disponibile. C'è un bel giardino molto grande e la chartreuse è comoda da raggiungere. Unica pecca la colazione: modesta.

Great pit stop. Ex Carthusian monastery with great rooms, lovely parkland and 300 parking spaces. Gates are closed at night to provide secure parking. 2 restaurants onsite. Staff couldn't be more helpful.

Chateau in need of some renovation but room comfortable. Strangely no shower gel or shampoo in bathroom but there was body lotion! No kettle either. Also hade to pay €250 security deposit on arrival? Despite saying there are 3 restaurants only le Vasco open. The bar in hotel not staffed and very little in choice of drinks. This building and setting and grounds could be spectacular if sorted out and staffed properly. Unsure who owns what with the chateau and le Metairie seperate hotels but sharing facilities and staff .

Impressive property when pulling up. Thankfully staff still available at midnight for check in after a very delayed shuttle crossing. Room was large and bathroom massive! Two sinks and roll top bath in our attic room. Only downside was no kettle / tea coffee making facility in the room. Would have been really useful for us with an early departure and not having breakfast. Found a Sophie boulangerie 5 mins away in a small retail area. Cant comment much on other facilities as with late arrival and a early departure we didn’t use any

We stayed in this very special hotel for one night on our journey from Calais to Dijon. It is as special as it looks in the photos having an extensive and interesting history which adds to the character & drama. The parking is very secure and there were several charging points. Dinner is in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel (it is part of it) and the food was really good being exceptional value for money. Breakfast in the dining room echoed Downton Abbey grandeur!! No hesitation in recommending and we will likely use on our next journey...in 2027! Tim & Eleanor
