We drove about 4 hrs from Merida and arrived just before 13:00, the plan was to eat lunch at the advertised Italian restaurant in the hotel, but it was all locked up, closed. We decided to drive over to the beach, drive because it looked like a much more than the listed 7 minute walk to the El Cuyo Playa. It took more like ten, fifteen minutes drive to get there and when we found a lot of trash, bottles plastic trash styrofoam, diapers etc. not e place where you would want to spend time. The "trash station" had no trash cans, just a mountain of trash strewn around it. The playa had a foul smell from trash and likely from a lot of rotting sargasso, seaweed on the beach and in the water. We left to go back to the hotel to talk to them about the whole situation,We drove about 4 hrs from Merida and arrived just before 13:00, the plan was to eat lunch at the advertised Italian restaurant in the hotel, but it was all locked up, closed.
