This is not an actual hotel, it is more like an outbuilding for overflow from the Williamsburg Inn. That said it is clean, convenient, affordable, room has a wonderful balcony, beautiful landscaping, fountains ponds and everything you would like for a wonderful restful time in CW. It’s also extremely close to everything you want to get to like the Kings arms Tavern, etc. No there are no on-site amenities, no food or vending machines. But bottles of water can be delivered from the Inn and every request was met very promptly to our great satisfaction. Would stay there again.

The room itself was fine. It was the incidentals that were a problem. The coffee maker was terrible, making lukewarm terrible coffee. The hairdryer was old but worse was the electric didn’t work. Call to get assistance because we were trying to get out the door, but it took a while. Housekeeping was only requested one day and they did the bare minimum of bed and towels and may be cleaned a sink. The rug be the vacuuming. The other thing was that the air conditioner had a musty smell. All of these are just little things, but it is not a cheap hotel and I think they should be fixed. We also used the spa it was OK, but I think the problem is really what we picked to have done. Stick with the Massage . we also went to the bar to have drinks and snacks at the outdoor bar. That was a wonderful experience and would highly recommend the amenities and surroundings are beautiful. If it wasn’t for the few things that could be easily fixed the rating would be much higher.

We love Williamsburg and drive the 3 hours to stay there a few times a year. The Griffin is great for pets with plenty of green space around the buildings. It's a very nice park-like setting. Like most "last generation" facilities it needs some upgrades but it's still a great place and value. We book it every time.

The property is very large and offers many amenities, including spa and pools and golf. There are many restaurants in the different hotels that are part of the compound. The staff were very helpful and nice

Room was average. Paid a bit more for a room with a fireplace but wasn’t allowed to use it. Room smelled like a chimney though and would recommend they do something about that. They did accommodate our small pet though for a very reasonable fee. Although the rooms were average the spa and golf course were first rate. Also in a great location to enjoy historic sites and good restaurants in the area.

Located in the historic area of Williamsburg. Nice sized rooms with balcony or patio. Two story hotel with no elevator which could be a problem. No staff available on site, must call the Inn. Housekeeping staff very through, professional .

Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The furniture and carpeting is worn and outdated. The bedding is clean, beds are comfortable. The bathroom had quite a bit of mold, and I scrubbed it. Rooms are spacious and good for families.

I was looking for a quiet place with a balcony and a bath tub. I was taking a few days for myself, and this was exactly what I wanted. The room was quiet, the balcony overlooked the pond, it was a dreamy. The room was spotless, the bathroom was spotless. It was perfect for this mama who needed a few days of peace and quiet.

Hotel was very clean and the room was huge! The natural setting made for a very relaxing stay. Staff were eager to help. Please be aware there is no front desk! Check in takes place at the Williamsburg Inn down the street, which was NOT communicated up front.

I went on her and saw an 8.8 excellent rating. Sorry, this is not true, I should have taken pictures I dropped something behind the bed and had to retrieve it so dirty. It is definitely in need of an upgrade, smells moldy and pictures of the original building on the walls says 1970. My husband said its ok its only for one night. The area defiantly needs newer hotels. I would hope when people see the pictures like I did it is of the main hotel where you check in which was the Williamsburg Inn.

The room was dirty when we arrived at 6:00pm so we had to wait a few hours for cleaning. When we came back, we were locked out so a bellman had to come and change our keys. (He was lovely). The very cordial staff tried to make up for the inconvenience with a $100 credit for breakfast, which was nice, but the restaurant couldn’t take us for 20-30 minutes so we went to the lodge for buffet because at that point we couldn’t order a la carte. The credit didn’t cover a buffet for our family of four, so I ended up paying $71 extra for the room. I had prepaid the room charge. While the staff was lovely, apologetic, and as helpful as possible, the hotel seems to be very mismanaged and in dire need of an overhaul. Very disappointing because we love the area.

Our room was in poor condition. Uncomfortable bed marks all over the walls, loud air conditioner, and generally unkept. Not at all what I was expecting from the photos. Quite disappointed.

The hotel is conveniently located across the street to Colonial Williamsburg. The building looks like an apartment complex converted into an hotel. I did not see an elevator so we had to take our luggage through the stairs. I am glad it was only one floor. I looked and looked and did not see an elevator. Found that strange. Accommodations were fine just furniture looks very antique but odd chairs and other items that do not match. Room was very spacious and our balcony was very nice. Room was clean. We stayed for two nights and it was fine.

I was blown away! I booked the hotel because of the convenience, which was very understated. You are right in Colonial Williamsburg. My room was absolutely enormous with a fireplace, outstanding air conditioning, and two showers. I will be staying here again. The room and convenience were not the best part. The service was truly remarkable. It was what I get at a Conrad, Ritz Carlton, or fine hotel in Paris. Dan, Tim, and the concierge were indescribable! They made me feel like I was the only guest with their tailored service. We were offered water, got special rates on tickets from the concierge, coupons for dining and shopping and a map with suggested places to go. I also recommend lunch at the Golden Horseshoe Gold Club behind the Inn for lunch. Tip: When you check in, it’s not at the Griffin, it’s at the Williamsburg Inn.

The internet service in the room that we were assigned to was faulty. I called both the front desk and the technical support number to report this on the first night, but the service problem was not corrected. The next day I personally went to the front desk and spoke to Tim, who said the he would see that the problem was remedied, but did not receive a call back from him, and when I returned to my room (3412) the problem was still not fixed, and Tim was gone for the day. So I personally went to the front desk again. The person at the front desk called tech support and I was told that it was a counter issue that they would correct. But again when I returned to my room I still could not connect with the internet. So I went back a 3rd time to the front desk, and asked them if they would give me another room that had functioning internet, which they did (3539). I was satisfied that ultimately my problem was solved, albeit arduously, and because of my perseverance. Apparently there is some inherent connectivity problem on the first floor of the building I was originally assigned to. The staff should have been aware of that; but even if they were not, the most customer oriented solution would have been to offer another room as soon as I reported back (on the first night) that the tech support fix was not successful. This was our second visit to the Griffin, and it did not disappoint. I have lived in apartments that were considerably smaller than this room. It was absolutely gorgeous and well-furnished. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. There were a couple of non-functioning outlets (we had to shift the fridge and coffee machine to get power) and the hvac unit motor came on somewhat loud, so it’s showing its age, but I’d be happy to stay here again.

Great location! Rooms are very dated but comfortable. The balcony is nice and spacious. No elevator. We had to ask for regular coffee because we were only left decaf both days of our stay. There's also a heafty resort fee for amenities that we didn't use.

We checked in upon arrival and they gave us a parking pass and we went snd enjoyed Williamsburg. They called when our room was ready. Our room was spacious snd clean. We were able to walk from our room to colonial Williamsburg. I will return to this hotel.

Beautiful property to stay at, but there are a few things to discuss. I reported a few issues to the front desk that I am told will be address with maintenance. Two of the three bulbs above the glass sliding doors did not work, one of the bulbs in the lamp was still using a mercury bulb which was blown out and had to be discarded. The safe did not work at all and required new batteries. None of these really detracted from our experience, but we felt that these issues should be corrected for the next guests. Also, the WiFi signal in this building was abysmal and I ended up just using my cellular connection most of the time. There is no option to use an Ethernet connection either. Either that or the device that I found that has Ethernet jacks on it doesn’t work. The WiFi network provided seems to be the public WiFi provided by Colonial Williamsburg, not their now. The green and gold buildings detached from The Griffin really need their own WiFi networks. Please provide the option to use an Ethernet connection as well, some people prefer that due to having better security and reliability. The location of the building is a stones-throw away from the historic area and directly behind the King’s Arms Tavern, and we absolutely loved how close we were to the historic area. This is probably one of the best reasons to stay here in my opinion. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would come again, but likely we would try to stay in the main building next time.

I was blown away! I booked the hotel because of the convenience, which was very understated. You are right in Colonial Williamsburg. My room was absolutely enormous with a fireplace, outstanding air conditioning, and two showers. I will be staying here again. The room and convenience were not the best part. The service was truly remarkable. It was what I get at a Conrad, Ritz Carlton, or fine hotel in Paris. Dan, Tim, and the concierge were indescribable! They made me feel like I was the only guest with their tailored service. We were offered water, got special rates on tickets from the concierge, coupons for dining and shopping and a map with suggested places to go. I also recommend lunch at the Golden Horseshoe Gold Club behind the Inn for lunch. Tip: When you check in, it’s not at the Griffin, it’s at the Williamsburg Inn.

You should be warned that there is no elevator. I was not prepared to carry my heavy suitcase up the stairs. There were no bathrobes in the room and no water either. My key did not work after coming back from dinner at 11pm at night and it was a dark cold walk to the inn to get another one.

The internet service in the room that we were assigned to was faulty. I called both the front desk and the technical support number to report this on the first night, but the service problem was not corrected. The next day I personally went to the front desk and spoke to Tim, who said the he would see that the problem was remedied, but did not receive a call back from him, and when I returned to my room (3412) the problem was still not fixed, and Tim was gone for the day. So I personally went to the front desk again. The person at the front desk called tech support and I was told that it was a counter issue that they would correct. But again when I returned to my room I still could not connect with the internet. So I went back a 3rd time to the front desk, and asked them if they would give me another room that had functioning internet, which they did (3539). I was satisfied that ultimately my problem was solved, albeit arduously, and because of my perseverance. Apparently there is some inherent connectivity problem on the first floor of the building I was originally assigned to. The staff should have been aware of that; but even if they were not, the most customer oriented solution would have been to offer another room as soon as I reported back (on the first night) that the tech support fix was not successful. This collection of properties is spectacular overall. It is wonderful that all guests, regardless of which property you're staying, have privileges at the various 5-star amenities of the Williamsburg Inn and can enjoy the gorgeous grounds. However, I was very disappointed with the check-in process. Check-in is at 4:00, and we arrived around 1:00. At that point, we did not expect our room to be ready, which is was not, and we happily went over to the pool for relaxation and lunch. However, it would have been nice if perhaps our room could have been prioritized with the cleaning staff. It clearly was not. At 4:00, we walked back to reception only to find our room was still not ready. We were asked to sit and wait "for 5-10 minutes." In that time, other guests flowed in and out of reception checking in and getting their room keys. We finally received our keys at 4:30. Staff was courteous about it, but not overly apologetic nor did they acknowledge that they could have done better. While I did not feel discriminated against for being a guest of the Griffin (3-star) at the pool, club house, or anywhere else, I do think we were perhaps at the bottom of the list when it comes to check-in. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. I would probably stay here again but would be hyper-aware of the possibility of being labeled second-class as a guest of their lowest rated property, which, by the way, was perfectly nice, if a little plain.

Trust me, you would be far better off at Holiday Inn or Fairfield.

The room was dirty when we arrived at 6:00pm so we had to wait a few hours for cleaning. When we came back, we were locked out so a bellman had to come and change our keys. (He was lovely). The very cordial staff tried to make up for the inconvenience with a $100 credit for breakfast, which was nice, but the restaurant couldn’t take us for 20-30 minutes so we went to the lodge for buffet because at that point we couldn’t order a la carte. The credit didn’t cover a buffet for our family of four, so I ended up paying $71 extra for the room. I had prepaid the room charge. While the staff was lovely, apologetic, and as helpful as possible, the hotel seems to be very mismanaged and in dire need of an overhaul. Very disappointing because we love the area.

Building Green by the tennis court which made checking in a hassle. Google maps will lead you to a parking lot a good distance from the main building which is obscured by trees so walked around for 15 minutes trying doors to the green building which are keycard locked. Courtesy phone did not work. Eventually saw there was a sign (small) that reads Griffin hotel check in but since never there, was relying on Google maps. I admittedly may have missed some instructions on email/text.

The Griffin is in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. Beautiful grounds and property. Parked the car and walked everywhere... very easy access to all things Colonial. Will definitely stay here on our return trip to Williamsburg at Christmas time.

The room was spacious and greatly appreciated by a family with three teenagers. It did smell a bit musky though, maybe it was the antique furniture in the room? We loved the gym, it was top rate for a hotel for sure. The staff was kind, the grounds were gorgeous! Loved the ease of being so close to Colonial Williamsburg. Would totally stay again.

This is not an actual hotel, it is more like an outbuilding for overflow from the Williamsburg Inn. That said it is clean, convenient, affordable, room has a wonderful balcony, beautiful landscaping, fountains ponds and everything you would like for a wonderful restful time in CW. It’s also extremely close to everything you want to get to like the Kings arms Tavern, etc. No there are no on-site amenities, no food or vending machines. But bottles of water can be delivered from the Inn and every request was met very promptly to our great satisfaction. Would stay there again.

The property itself was very nice , but we had to go out of town to find dinner. Sad that we tried to arrange dinner reservations and there were none. The room itself was fine. It was the incidentals that were a problem. The coffee maker was terrible, making lukewarm terrible coffee. The hairdryer was old but worse was the electric didn’t work. Call to get assistance because we were trying to get out the door, but it took a while. Housekeeping was only requested one day and they did the bare minimum of bed and towels and may be cleaned a sink. The rug be the vacuuming. The other thing was that the air conditioner had a musty smell. All of these are just little things, but it is not a cheap hotel and I think they should be fixed. We also used the spa it was OK, but I think the problem is really what we picked to have done. Stick with the Massage . we also went to the bar to have drinks and snacks at the outdoor bar. That was a wonderful experience and would highly recommend the amenities and surroundings are beautiful. If it wasn’t for the few things that could be easily fixed the rating would be much higher.

The setting back in the woods is very nice and peaceful. The room was nice, but a little bit tired. The room was very big, with two queens and a sofa bed - it would be a good place for a family. It could use better lighting both in the bathroom and the main room area. It always felt a little big dim in there. There was something sticky on the bathroom floor - seemed like it was something that needed to be scraped off and that hadn't been done. My biggest complaint is that there is no food or room service of any kind in the hotel. There isn't even a water bottle filling station. There is a vending machine for sodas and theoretically one for snacks, but the snack machine was completely empty. There isn't even an address for the hotel, so I couldn't figure out a way to order delivery.

Very tranquil setting but only an easy walk to the center of Colonial Wmsburg. Spacious room, attractive decor. Cons: all services from lobby/check-in to refreshments and dining options in the main hotel.

Griffin Hotel is part of the colonial Williamsburg system and provides courtesy transport within the colonial area. Services are available to help obtain tickets to area events and reserve dining. The tranquility pool was awesome with its seclusion from the family pool!

The cons: the carpet in the room was worn and should be replaced. The commode seat was chipped. The bath/shower stopper wouldn’t move up/down, so water built up and drained very slooowly. The bed frame was cheap wood and not stained to match the rest of the furniture. And the mattress was much too stiff for my liking. The good: nice setting. Quiet, secluded. Nice location- near colonial burg. A balcony with a Nice view of the pond/fountain. Good price. Pillows were very comfortable. The room was a nice size and had the amenities you would want/expect: fridge, safe, sofa, desk and even a telephone in the bathroom (what, is this 1990?). All in all, a nice overnight stay. Would do it again

Great hotel only complaint the person who was supposed to be putting stuff out for the breakfast wasn’t doing their job because we came to have breakfast and there was very little there and it was supposed to be open for another hour and a half
