The hotel location is great, staff are helpful and friendly. Overall okay, but the hotel needs to upgrade itself, outdated interior not aligned with building history value, the restaurant style/ menu is “old school” and certainly needs to be dusted off. This place has great potential, but it needs to wake up.

Prided for being the oldest hotel in Denmark, you can feel its history the moment you step into the lobby, with its charming period furnishings. If you want a true taste of history, this is the place to stay. The rooms are adequate and warm, though ours had a rather slanted floor. The location is excellent.. right next to the cathedral and at the start of Ribe’s old street, two of the town’s main attractions. A small hiccup during check-in: there was no one at reception, and calls to the provided number went unanswered, which meant we couldn’t access the private parking. Breakfast, however, was fantastic, with a nice variety of options.
