Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bessemer - Birmingham SW by IHG

I only stayed for one night, however, the room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable! The staff was very friendly. The only “issue” I had was with the charging station. I couldn’t figure it out and no one really knew too much about how to operate it.

Hotel appears to be fairly new. Actually, on the 4th floor it appeared they were still finishing some of the rooms.

I have a mixed review, the hotel is new so it looks clean the room are spacious. The pool was not open (don’t know why) the breakfast was blah (yikes) the noise coming from the toilet all night was so annoying. The front desk was having issues with computers, so they were very slow. Overall I give it 3/5. The experience was just ok, probably won’t stay again.

Beautiful new property. Right off the highway. Check in staff were pleasant, morning lady not so much but everyone has their moments. Would definitely stay there again.

Very nice hotel. Modern rooms with plenty of space. Can be busy at times. Dining area had plenty of seating and the lobby has an ok bar and a comfortable sitting area. Loved the breakfast selection.

First of all I do not normally leave a bad review but in this case I am. When we checked in I was told if we needed anything then guest services would bring it to our room. I called the front desk and asked for a lighter blanket because the room was so hot. I was told “swing by the desk” and get one. Front desk would not bring one to our room like other hotels do. Air conditioning not working properly. The floor was soaking wet in front of the air conditioner. The noise was ridiculous. We did not call to complain because at this point we knew it would not do any good. Our room definitely needed a more thorough cleaning. I could go on and on but to top the list was the smell of marijuana was horrible. We love to travel but will not be staying at any Holiday Inn hotels anymore. Looks are deceiving in this case. Hotel looks nice from the outside but we would have been better off at a Motel 8.

This is an almost brand-new property (one year old). So it is very clean and in new condition. The area around it is...OK...as long as you are comfortable in Bessemer. The building, as I said, is new, but the old, deserted, run-down building is right next to it, unoccupied. The grounds need to be picked up daily (old cigarette stubs everywhere). My only reason for this review is that staffing could use a major overhall. The front desk is distracted and somewhat harried, especially when we checked in. The manager was present, constantly on the phone while talking to guests checking in, trying to coordinate check-ins with unavailable (uncleaned) rooms, and giving all excuses why there were no rooms available. I heard her give the excuse to one guest that 100 people had checked out that morning all at the same time. Well, yes, since required checkout is 11:00 AM, and there's a fee for late checkout. It was 4:00 when we checked in, and the rooms hadn't been cleaned for the new guests (to check in at 3:00). Somehow we got our room, clean. But that other guest couldn't get in until 10:00 PM. The next day, we left the room at 10:30 A.M. and did not return til 8:30 P.M. No one had cleaned the room all day; we had no clean towels, no toilet paper, full waste baskets, etc We received extra "points" for the inconvenience. It won't do us any good, because I won't use IHG again (not only due to this property). No check-in gift bag (with at least water bottles) was provided

The hotel was very clean walls are paper thin but that was ok the only thing I don't understand and its not the first hotel that I been that do not have fans in the bathroom. I truly do not understand. But other than that no complaints.

The Hotel seemed newer, or upgraded, not sure which but the condition was very nice! The room was immaculate, the bed very comfortable. The morning breakfast was very nice! I really enjoyed the fact that that have flavored creamer for the coffee, such a thoughtful notion! The rooms were spacious and had everything you need for a nice stay. Hotel was close to some restaurants, gas stations and a Walmart in case you need anything. Staff was very friendly! I would definitely book again if in the area!

Breakfast featured a variety of hot foods made fresh. The beds were comfortable but the shower was not as hot as I’d prefer. The grounds were clean and the staff were very kind. Also the coffee was free and good.

Shower door would not stay open.

I have been charged twice for my stay. They say one charge will fall off and I hope they are right but I just dont really believe this will happen. Lady at the desk said she saw no charge on her end but it's clearly on my checking acct

Booked and paid for the room, but when I got there, they did not have a room available for me. I was stranded 2-hours from home with nowhere to stay. Had to drive all the way home just to come back to Bham the next morning for the tournament we were there for. Will not ever book there again.

The check-in experience at around 6pm (evening shift) was not pleasant: - After having to wait for almost 10 minutes for a previous customer to finish up, it took more than 15 minutes to check me in, even though I had prepaid via Expedia. The team members seemed to be pretty helpless and in need of further training. I understand that this property just opened 2 weeks ago. - My credit card was incorrectly charged with a US$ 25 fee for incidental, this should have been posted just as a hold. Thank you Michelle? (day shift) for identifying and fixing the topic. All the best for getting in a steady state operation.

I enjoyed the property and the amenities. It was within 20 minutes of every park my son had to play baseball in and close to foods he liked which was a plus. If he is happy then so am I.

My stay was ok! The hotel itself is beautiful and clean. The front desk staff were superb. The breakfast wasn’t good. During my stay there were guests outside smoking and rolling up marijuana, playing cards, drinking alcohol and they were extremely loud. I was on the second floor, they were outside in the sitting area and the noise was so disturbing, it woke my children. The vulgar language and loud noise was terrible.
