Pagosa River Domes

We had never stayed in a geodesic dome before but wanted something other than a plain hotel room. The Pagosa River Domes were great for a first time. The Domes are right off the river. We stayed in number 9 which was about in the middle of the line of them. We could see the river from the back deck and see all the different wildlife across the bank. We even saw an osprey return every morning and catch trout, it was great! We didn’t even need to get out of bed. You can just open the drapes and have a panoramic view of outside. We drank our morning coffee and let wildlife entertain us. The fire pit and hammock were great for night time. We got to roast marshmallows while taking in the stars. The inside of the domes had everything we needed. A kitchen that was stocked with plates, silverware, and cups. It also had an electric stove and pots and pans. The bathrooms were clean and a lot better than some of the hotels we have stayed in in the past. The only downsides that we could find was the noise from the highway. The walls of the domes are not very thick or noise cancelling. You can definitely hear normal cars driving by throughout the night and day. Imagine a loud semi or motorcycle. The other downside, a very minor one, is if you are getting there for the first time at night, you can’t see the entrance. We got in at around 1030 at night and flew by it. There are no signs or lights that show where the driveway is. I recommend taking it slow when you first approach.

The room was clean and very well stocked with everything you could possibly want. The room does only have a small A/C unit so when we came back from visiting the town it did take quite some time for the room to cool down. The mattress did have some noticeable wear at the center. The overall atmosphere was wonderful and very relaxing. Definitely will be returning.

If you could just mute the road noise, this place would be perfect! Very thoughtful accommodation with lovely toiletries, robes, blankets for sitting by the wonderful fire pit or in the comfy hammock under the stars. The shower was shockingly awesome, as was the coffee and kitchen setup. We also loved the ability to totally control the temperature, which can be a funky thing in the mountains. Please let us know when you figure out the road noise obstacle and we'd love to come back!

Fun place to stay. Thought the price is a little high but it was fun to do once. Would recommend getting televisions for the domes, a community hot tub would really be nice and drop the price a bit and I would definitely stay again. Overall a really unique place to stay.

This is our first time stayed in the dome, we were surprised the layout inside, the outside fire pit, grill, hammock. The view from the patio and from inside the dome is amazing along with the music of the running river... The small modern kitchen, everything you need to make your own coffee, cookware. Bathroom, shower is good. The location is very convenient to access to everything we need like hot spring, restaurants, grocery etc... Sorry I don't have time to make this short but if you want to have a good experience for any special occasion you should try.

Really enjoyed sitting on the patio with the fire pit and having the electric fireplace inside for the cool evening,

These are so darn cute and very nice inside. My teenager and 20 year old were a little skeptical when I told them where we were staying but once we got inside, everyone was happy and excited. Super clean and has everything you need including a refrigerator and kitchenette, Robes, plenty of towels & pillows. staff was great when we called with questions and check in was so easy. I would love to come here in the summertime to enjoy the warmer weather and river. The deck has a grill and fire pit as well. We only stayed one night so we didn't get to enjoy everything. The only downside is that is is located close to the road so you can hear semis all night. They thought of this and there are ear plugs on the night stands and a blue tooth speaker so we turned on white noise and it was fine.

I loved the privacy to easy entry and departure. The fire pits are fun and a barbecue.

The LED strip lights were so much fun for the kids. The beds were comfortable and we slept so well.

My review of the River Domes: Love the idea of these, but being right off of the highway was very loud. My room cleanliness was mediocre. There were greasy fingerprints all over the microwave, the fridge and the black wall the bed is against. I definitely expected for it to be cleaner based off of the price and ratings. One last thing complaint would be about check in time and communication from the staff. The first email confirmation said check in was at 3. I asked for earlier check in, but understand that does not always work out. However, I was unable to check in until 4. I received some texts instructions from the property at nearly 10pm my first night about how things work in the dome. These instructions would have been helpful the day before or the morning of. Lastly, getting a text at 1030pm for check out instructions was very inconsiderate. It woke me up and I was unable to go back to sleep. Please reconsider the hours in which you communicate with your guests.

We were very pleased with the dome itself. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The views were perfect.

Totally cool experience the places were absolutely clean very convenient to the springs and to the restaurants in downtown Pagosa I would highly recommend!!!!!

Domes were very unique, clean and well appointed.

It was our fault we should have known not to stay here in November. The heat was horrible. Next to no heat and we froze and didn't sleep. The cleaning lady left her junk in our dome and the place wasn't clean. Other then that it was a really neat idea for a one and done never again.

Great concept and beautiful interior. In the summer, it can be very hot in the units, even with the AC on, due to the afternoon sun beating on the transparent covering. I think table fans might help with extra flow. Otherwise, we had a great stay and I'd recommend the Domes.

The door kept telling us errors were made, but it locked anyway. In 90-degree heat, it took a while for the space to cool down. Overall, it was a nice retreat with a great aesthetic and it was close enough to downtown Pagosa Springs.

Amazing spot—will stay again. Great views of wildlife coming down to the river in the morning and the stars at night. Handle son front and back of bathroom door were broken, making it difficult to get in or out of the bathroom. The bed had seen much better days and it was uncomfortable and hurt my back terribly. The domes are located right by the highway, so there was traffic noise all night. But the spacious dome and lovely surroundings outside the dome window was so nice that we will stay again.

-Asked ro stay in dome near our friends. No reply and were placed 10 domes apart. -domes are 100 feet from main highway. Noise all day/night long. -River behind domes was empty. Noisy work being so e each day moving rock in river by large equipment. -WiFi was poor. Asked for assistance, no reply. -asked to check in 15 minutes early. Dome was ready and clean but no response to request to enter early. -Better options available in Pagosa Springs.

The floor stove didn’t work so we had no heat overnight and it got down to the 40s. The internet gateway gizmo kept fluctuating off and on so no reliable wi-fi. The overall concept is cool just wish We didn’t run into issues.

Both heating sources produced no heat and it dropped to 43 degrees at night.

The dome was a magnificent experience for the first time. They had a lot of good amenities in such a small space which was really cool. The bathroom was excellent for such a space. They even had extra blankets for sitting outside by the fire as well as bath robes and slippers, which were really good for going outside. I would’ve normally given this accommodation five stars, but I was very disappointed to have them tell me I could not check out one hour later. I find it deplorable when you can’t check in until 3 o’clock in hotels they make you check out at 11 AM. While I understand, there has to be a time for cleaning, These domes were not full. They were not full the day before and they were not full the day we left. So not accommodating me for an hour, loses a star in terms of support and service.

It's a great place staff was excellent had a problem with our fire pit not working I text the number they provided and got the problem fixed right away the area is nice seen a few deer which was awesome right by our deck biggest down side is u can hear the river but we couldn't see it weeds and shrubs were over 6ft tall in that hole area blocking the view in all it was a great place for our first visit to Pagosa

Would have preferred onsite staff. Site advertised river view- our room view blocked by bushes and plants. River view primary reason we booked

The property itself was nice but I had to keep up every hour to fix the heater. It would shut off and not come back on and it was -11 that night. There's no on site staff and the only thing I got was a text on how to reset the heat.

We had an INCREDIBLE time at this property. Check-in was a breeze - we never even saw any staff the entire time. We had a code to get into our rooms which was very simple (once we realized we were typing it in wrong, oops). The decks were amazing with fire pits and chairs. The loft was perfect for our small kids (2 & 4) however I would suggest putting some sort of safety netting or retractable railing for added safety. The bathroom was great and the bed was SO COMFY! Going to bed watching the stars and waking to the sun was amazing. 10/10 would stay here again! We brought out of town grandparents with us as well and it was an experience they will never forget!

The property is very nice and modern, it is close to everything by car, but outside there was a lot of grass and for people who need zero noise to sleep, it is not very convenient because it is close to the road and there is a lot of noise from cars.

The Pagosa River Domes are incredible! A really fun place to stay when in Pagosa Springs! I had a great experience and wanted to stay relax in that hammock for a few more days! Excellent location, very close to the hot springs and downtown while having the feel of being away on a mountain retreat. I really loved all the details inside the dome and hope everything withstands throughout time!

This was a last minute gem! Needed a place to spend one night in Pagosa and saw this DOME! It was priced right so we thought “ What the heck, let’s try it”. Got there right at 4 pm… all was as pictured and promised. The decor was almost Scandinavian, simple and clean lines but quality. We sat on the deck with a fire at sunset , listening to the river . You can see the river from dome one, but the foliage was too high by our dome. When we came in for the night, light music playing through the Bluetooth speaker provided helped to cover the traffic noise ( which got less and less through the night, it is right off the highway). We were greeted in the morning by a couple of bucks that came down to the river for a drink. The bed was divine, and the STARS….. the whole stay was MAGICAL! I’d love to go back in a different season to experience it again!
