Fairholm Boutique Inns

A great property and very unique in its set up. Staff were very helpful and everything within the downtown seems to be only a 10 minute walk away.

This is a different property - spread over several buildings over most of the block just a short walk out of downtown Charlottetown. I imagine every room/building is different. We booked an apartment. Check in was easy once we found the actual lobby in the main building. The front desk folks meet you at your building, show you how to use the door lock codes, carry your luggage, and show you about the room This is great however, note that at any given time, there may not be anyone at the front desk as they are doing the same for others. The room was lovely with a nice kitchen, living area, deck, and separate bedroom. The bed is very low to the floor and its a little cramped on the sides, you can't actually open the door all the way as it hits the corner of the frame, but it was comfortable. The sofa too is close to the floor and wasn't the most comfortable for an evening of movies after a long day out but it worked. The kitchen is well appointed and we were able to cook each day. The grounds are beautiful and there is ample parking. The staff is lovely and special shout out to our housekeeper, Kathy, who was like a friend from day one and insisted on taking a great photo of us. We miss her smiling face. I would absolutely return here in a minute.

Great location, beautiful, charming older (over 100 years young!) building, friendly & helpful staff. Did not know there was no elevator but fortunately staff was pleased to assist with luggage. Would stay again but definitely would prefer a bigger room!

The Fairholm Boutique Inns are a group of historic buildings in old Charlottetown operated by a local family. The house we stayed in was a grand home dating from 1838. Our large room on the main floor was well appointed in a mid-Victorian style as was the adjoining living room/common room. The grounds in the complex are well landscaped and well kept. And an excellent breakfast was offered in a different building. The issue we had with this facility during our three day stay was the lack of attention to small details that cumulatively became annoying. For example, our room had a burnt out night light, but despite bringing this to the front desk's attention, no bulb was ever replaced. We asked for clean towels after our second night but had to ask a second time when they did not appear by evening. Our room's front window had three electric blinds but one was broken which required that we jerry-rig a decorative curtain for privacy at night. The staff knew about the situation, but failed to tell us. The cable TV came on without any warning during the night, which staff were aware of, and must have rectified as no incidents occurred after the first night. The coffee machine in the common room was a nice touch, but there were no cups or coffee pods, despite our request to replenish the stock. Our bathroom door would not close, and there was peeling paint and bits of falling trim outside our building. This is potentially a great inn but not until the little details are addressed.

We stayed at the Fairholm 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The property was well maintained and had a historic charm. We drove to PEI, and I have some dietary restrictions, so it would have been nice to have had a mini fridge in the room to put some of the food items we had with us. They did have ice so we were able to keep items chilled in the cooler we brought. The rooms are a good size so it should be something for them to consider adding to the amenities. Parking is limited. We were on the 3rd floor so trekking our luggage and ourselves up 3 floors was a little daunting. The facility is also not wheel chair accessible so I wouldn't stay here if you need that accommodation. The room was very clean but the bed was not the most comfortable. Furthermore, the light from the hallway was blaring through the crack in the door and with the bed right there it was hard to sleep. The second night and third night, I turned the two lights off and it was better with just the stairway light on. Our air conditioner was dripping on the floor when we got there, so we had to use a bucket so it wouldn't wreck the hardwood floors, but they replaced it with a window air conditioner and that was good. Overall, the hotel has the historic quaint feel of Charlottetown. It was walking distance to many restaurants in the downtown. If you don't require a mini fridge and don't mind trekking up and down 3 flights of stairs then it's a nice place to stay.

This is how an inn should be run. Nothing too much trouble, excellent room and very good food for breakfast. Spotless everywhere, lovely public spaces and brilliantly located above the harbour/bars and restaurants.

We stayed in the first building built, ground level with fireplace. Check-in: Was seamless and got the information on time and clear on instructions on where to go. Parking: Really happy that parking was included with this property. Fireplace in room: We did not use it at all. Interior of building: The building is an older & traditional home, beautiful inside and the decor is lovely. Interior of room: When we first walked into the room, it was extremely stuffy smelling and felt had no air circulation. The bed was moderately comfortable with clean sheets/pillows, bathroom felt very dark and out dated. There was no light by the toilet so it was really dark and hard to see. The bathroom also was not ventilated and got steamy very quickly. At night, the room had mosquitoes and bugs flying around which got annoying and we did not enjoy that experience. Walking distance: To downtown and felt safe. Recommendations: Bedroom needs an update: better air ventilation, needs kettle/cups instead of having to go outside into the main area. Better lighting in the room. Bathroom needs updated lighting & freshness. Staff: Both the young gentlemen that greeted us were fantastic - very knowledgeable of the area. Gave us some great food recommendations and super friendly. Kudos to them both :)

Lots of choices in Charlottetown and we made the right one. Fairholm Boutique Inns oozes character and charm. Our suite was in a beautifully restored Victorian home. Our plane got in after midnight, so Jake texted us a video of where to find the key and how to access our room. After our walks around C'town, we relaxed in the alcoves and sitting areas in our building as well as in our room. Friendly and helpful staff. We really can't say enough good things about Fairholm.

Charming, beautiful, cozy accommodations. Amazing breakfast choices included. The best coffee (maker) in the lobby. Beautifully landscaped property. Walk downtown in 10-ish minutes. Would stay again!

Room was rundown and dusty. I’m allergic to dust. A lot of spider webs. For the price, I was expecting something in a better condition. Don’t understand why we did not get free breakfast just because we booked through Hotels.com and not through them.

The room was very dirty, flys in the ceiling fan of the bathroom. Dirt all over the radiators and on the wood trim. No just a days worth. I mentioned to the front office 1st impression was not good, dirt all over the welcoming mat outside the front door , finger prints all over the front glass door and broken tiles all around the fireplace hearth. As we could not cancel, we felt as though we were held hostage. Would never recommend this facility

I didn't love that we had to check in at the main building, then get in our car and drive to the building where our room was and park the car for the second time. I didn't like that there were obvious cobwebs on the light fixtures and ceiling corners of our room. I understand it's a historic building..but it didn't look clean to me because of the cobwebs. There were supposed to be bathrobes provided in the room and I couldn't find any. They also only had two towels in the room which I thought was a bit strange. The jet tub was nice, but they should have aat or something to step out on...the tile in the bathroom is slippery. The linens however were very clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff were nice and the architecture of the building was intriguing. I would stay here again, but it would be great if they had a bit more attention to detail.

There was a strong smell of pee on the bathroom floor and my socks smelled of it after one day. All the other rooms were huge!!! Be careful booking here!!

The bathroom was dirty (spill on the wall and dirt on the floor) and stains on extra duvet. The staff didn’t respond to our text about and when we got locked out none answered. Has great potential if a little more attention to details.

Charming Inn in a quiet neighborhood. Walkable to many shops and restaurants, as well as the boardwalk. Our room was clean and well-appointed. Comfortable bed, would love to have firmer pillows next time. Highly recommend and would stay here again. Friendly staff and excellent onsite breakfast.

Liked the location and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room though had cob webs in the corners and bathroom light fixtures were dusty.

Atmosphere was lovely, like a step back in time. Bed was very comfortable, and shower was heavenly. Highly recommend.

Room was a little dated, bathroom needed work, bathroom fan switch and tub plug did not work. My friends room was amazing, same category so guess hit and miss.

Overall a beautiful place. Bed was very creaky - anytime you moved then noise would wake you up. Seemed like a pump in the AC unit was broke as it would come on for about 3 seconds every minute on the nose making it hard to get to sleep. It seemed to eventually stop but well after midnight.

The room was amazing, we got The Haviland, which was a king room, with a fireplace and a jacuzzi tub. The staff was amazing and they also brought us fresh towels. It was also very close to restaurants and fun places like The Pony Boat. I highly recommended this place!

A perfect 10 is hard to achieve. This property came very close. A lovely stay in a lovely house with very good customer service. The hotel reached out prior to my arrival with check in instructions and spent considerable time with me when I arrived, showing me to my room, how to gain access to the building and where to park etc. This was a great touch! The location was great and is within walking distance of lots of great restaurants. Overall this was a fantastic experience and I will stay again next time I'm there.

It appears that this and has really let itself go. We could see that it was grand at one time. When we asked for a change of towels for our room, one would think they would’ve noticed the trash and emptied it for us. We understand that rooms cleaning was at our request, but that’s just common courtesy to notice the trash and empty it. Plus, they left a track of dirt on the floor when they came in to change the towels. The linens at the breakfast area were always stained. The food was excellent, however. The bathroom in the main house that was open to all never had the trash emptied the entire time we were there. We were there for six nights. Sam was friendly, but no one else we interacted with was very friendly. The balcony off our room is in need of paint and repair. The neighborhood around the Inn is a bit rundown.

We loved our stay here. The Inn was fabulous. Jake was so helpful and delightful. He was able to answer all our questions and steered us to great restaurants and things to do in Charlottetown. What a great place! We will be back!

Our stay at Fairholm was exceptional. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful (specifically Sam who we mostly dealt with, but anyone we interacted with). They went above and beyond to assist with any questions or needs. The grounds are beautiful, we had an apartment and it was so nice to have the option the make food and sit at one of the outdoor spaces and have dinner or breakfast. When you want to go out everything downtown/waterfront is a few minutes walk. The most ideal location. The apartment was spacious, well stocked, clean and just perfect. Not a single complaint or issue. Would recommend and return without a doubt

This is a really lovely hotel/B&B/private apartment in the heart of Charlottetown. It's actually three separate buildings, two of them more of a classic B&B with wooden staircases and "homey" feel; one of them a modern updated set of apartments with a private entrance. In between is a beautiful lawn with a pergola and seating. Altogether, it's in a great location walkable to everything in Charlottetown. The apartment rooms are VERY spacious and include private outdoor space -- highly recommend. Best part, though, is the service. The young men who checked us in and showed us around gave us great food and sightseeing recommendations and were very helpful throughout our stay. A great find!

Prime location close to shopping, dining, and entertainment. Great base of operations to explore PEI.

All the ads/promotions seem to say this is a Bed & Breakfast, but it isn’t. Breakfast is $19. Per person. So our overpriced room increased by another $120. taxes. P

The staff at Fairholm were extremely friendly! The french toast at breakfast was delicious! We really enjoyed location, everything downtown was within walking distance.

If we could give them more stars we would! We were so impressed with everything especially the personnal text to let us know where to park. Breakfast was outstanding!
