Room refurbished and lovely. Breakfast tables are very squashed up but the breakfast was nice. The leisure area needs sorting out… they ran out of towels, they ran out of padlocks, the changing rooms are dirty, small and lack some basics like changing cubicles!

Great to have a pool, and gym facilities. Parking options not immediately clear, so ended up parking in NCP car park nearby. Great location a short walk from city centre bars, restaurants and shops.

Very good experience. Close proximity to city and castle. Issue was the elevator out for the entire time that made entry and exit stranded / difficult - we stayed 6 days and it was out the entire time and other who stayed there regularly indicated it was regularly like this.

The room was lovely..exactly what i expected however the spa facilities let tje hilton down..the changing room was dirty and the lockers wwre not clean. There was a mother and baby class so it wa a bit crowded. I waited ages for the guy at the desk for a padlock i ended up jist carrying my bag into the spa..which wasnt the best ...the sowers etc were a bit grotty... it definitely needs a refurb

We enjoyed our stay, just found it irritating that the bar didn’t have tomato juice for a Bloody Mary all weekend (somebody go to the shops!) and our intention to have a swim and relax as part of our weekend didn’t happen because both jacuzzi & sauna were out of order…. Interesting view of a pile of mattresses (new? Or dead?) on one of the floors from the glass sided lifts as we went up and down.

1) No parking at the hotel, separate fee of £60 to park 1 block away & this was not mentioned on the website. No valley or assistance to/from offsite car park. 2) Guests of the hotel had restrictions on when thepool and sauna could be accessed… again not mentioned on the website. 3) Very limited drinks in the hotel bar (no cocktail's) and the front bar seemed to be open to anyone (non guests). 4) Food menu and room service menu was very limited and very long wait times (1 hour). In summary I spent almost £1000 for a two night stay (5 star fees) for what was at best a 2 star service and experience. Based upon my experience I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room was light airy and with a very comfortable bed, but had not been cleaned properly, a wrapper lying on bathroom floor and toiletries not topped up. Parking is expensive and parking bays are extremely tight. Breakfast is self-service including Tea/Coffee but with only workable machine - always a que to get your very poor tasting coffee. Only one of the two lobby lifts working. Try getting down from 1st floor when the lift always goes up to the highest calling floor first and then picks up all the way down - yes Full especially in the morning breakfast and checking out time. Overall not good value for money

The hotel itself was clean and spacious with standard decent breakfast. Also the spa area though a bit dated, is lovely with a warm good sized pool and hot tub. The only issue is they need to pay attention to the toilets in the lobby as they are always a proper mess, almost like using public toilets in a park. Also, I would advise everyone to always check the bedding as I found out that there were horrid pee stains on the mattress topper that were hidden by clean sheets! Totally unacceptable. The fact that this is a pet friendly hotel makes it difficult to tell whether the pee stains were from a baby or a pet. This should have been washed and not merely covered with a clean sheet. Other than that, I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here as the location is perfect and the spacious and clean rooms live up to the Hilton name.

On arrival in our room there was an empty chocolate wrapper on the bathroom floor. Both bottles of conditioner in the bathroom were empty. Only one of the two main lifts was working which meant long delays as the lift was almost always full when it reached the first floor. Only one of the two coffee machines was working in the restaurant which meant long queues at breakfast. The so called health club was a disgrace. The floor and seats in the ladies changing room were grubby. Dried coffee stains were present on the locker doors. The locks and hanging rails in the lockers were rusty. a piece of coving was missing above the lockers and insulation was hanging out of the walls. There was inadequate supervision in the pool area. In spite of notices saying no under 16s in the jacquzi small children were using it and children were jumping from the pool side over the adult swimming land and rope into the main part of the pool. Despite a notice saying no jumpng allowed. The pavement slabs in front of the hotel were uneven and rocky in places. On a positive note, the staff were helpful and friendly and the bed was comfortable. This did not make up for the negatives and for the price paid it was not a satisfactory stay. I will be writing to Hilton about my poor experience.

The room was cleaner than clean, light and airy. The staff were helpful, informative and friendly. I had a small issue with one of the locked window being slightly open, allowing cold air in, but this was dealt with same day by a member of the maintenance with no fuss. The gym and pool were great. There were decent breakfast options all of which was freshly prepared. Only real complaint was the size of the duvet could have been larger given it was a king size bed I'd have expected the duvet to match, but thanks to the air-conditioning it wasn't a major issue.

I was looking forward to my Hilton stay as this was a special treat to myself as I don’t ordinarily spend £167 for a single night for just myself as a solo traveller. When I checked in my expectations only grew as I was told I was on the 3rd floor on one of the newly refurbished rooms. Things then started to go downhill. List of issues. - 4 empty beer bottles outside door at check in at 4pm. Beer bottles still there at 9.30am next day when I checked out. - aircon not working so room was like sauna ( did call maintenance, they couldn’t sort it out). - no chair and mirror to be able to do hair and make up - no socket near only mirror to be able to see to style hair - TV not working properly as set for date and time 2 months earlier. So not the best of stays for the price. Did advise reception of the issues. Not sure would return. Very disappointed considering large company and newly refurbished room which is pretty but not practical.

The room was ok but lacked drawer space, who needs ironing boards & irons on a city break? but a towel rail in the bathroom & a couple more hooks would be helpful! A big cupboard to hold a mini fridge but no fridge, so stupid when hotels in Europe all provide the same! The drinks prices in the bar are ridiculously expensive too! We stayed 2 nights the whole thing felt a bit soulless but functional thank goodness for Bassam on duty in the breakfast room this morning, as on our first morning it was chaos! Everything was running out food & cups, teapots etc! Bassam wassuper efficient, supervising youngsters who just stand around without a clue, but friendly & helpful too! Give the man a reward.

Swimming pool is great, the children loved it. The gym is quite good, I used the Wattbike, which needs some maintenance. The lounge was good though currently moving location and the food can vary on availability. All staff were obliging. Stayed in a junior suite, again good standard except for the temperature control which made it fiddly to keep the room warm (in February).

Room overall was good, apart from peeling wallpaper and mould around the window. The room was overlooking a busy street, which was very noisy, especially at night, even though we were on the 5th floor! I suspect the window needs looking at, as we could hear lots of noise and could also be the cause of the mould around the window.

Great hotel very modern and well located. Nice room overlooking the castle. Parking not on site but close by but expensive at £29. Air conditioner not working properly or can’t down below 18. Complained and the window was opened slightly but a hot uncomfortable night. Spoiled the stay.

Expensive for what it offers! Old decor with a couple of fancy lights in the bathroom. We googled if the hotel provided free parking and found that it did. Hotel does not provide free Parking!!!!! Parking around the hotel is very expensive and you would have to fend for yourself. Don’t charge me for castle view if it’s going to be behind a tree. Very bad lighting in the room. Very old carpet in the room. Expensive breakfast Very old TV didn’t have smart functions and we were stuck with limited BBC channels. Paid extra for room decorations which was a ripoff. Normal hotels do the swans on the bed without extra cost when they are told it’s for a special occasion. I paid extra £15 for fake rose petals and no swans. Awful and overpriced very old hotel.

I stayed in the executive room on the top floor and it was absolutely incredible. Fantastic huge, super comfortable bed. Gorgeous view of the Cardiff castle. Executive lounge offers snacks/drinks and magazines to read. Before going out in the evening I popped in for hot/cold hors d'oeuvres and a glass of wine. Breakfast is delicious and varied. Pool had perfect refreshing temperature. And there’s great sauna/jacuzzi + separate lift to take you back to your room after the swim. The stay is truly 5/5 and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Absolutely lovely hotel rooms, very comfortable and quietly luxurious. The restaurant staff need to up their game though, not the friendliest most efficient service unfortunately-had to fight to get a table when it clearly wasn’t very busy. Eventually was able to sit down only because we pushed back.

The staff at this hotel were amazing! It was our son’s birthday and the guest services manager Rachel went above and beyond by filling the room with surprises for him! He was absolutely delighted and so was his sister, as there were plenty of treats to share, plus a bottle of Prosecco for us! The room itself was spacious for the 4 of us, and very clean and well equipped. We had an issue with aircon but this was reported and someone was sent to try and sort it. Unfortunately they couldn’t before we left, but we were given a discount on our bill. The pool facilities were fab, very clean and lots of options like a hot tub, sauna and steam room! Plus, there were plenty of fresh towels. The breakfast buffet was fresh, varied and all allergens identified which was great as our daughter can’t have milk. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and smiley which makes all the difference! We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.

The room was well decorated and clean, the hotel is well located but we were a little disappointed. We had a very long wait for check in, and thought it might have been a courtesy to apologise. There was massive up selling of room service, themed for the event that we were there for, but the hotel was clearly overwhelmed- they had disabled the app when we tried to order and no-one answered the phone. Clearly it had been running previously as there were trays piling up in the corridors as we walked to our room. No water in room, the fridge wasn’t working and neither were the reading lights. Expected better, won’t stay again.

I absolutely love this hotel from the moment I walked in to waking up in the morning. Everybody couldn't do enough for you. The breakfasts were outstanding and the beds were fabulous. Not to mention the pillows which were out of this world. I need a set!!!

House keeping never can unless requested at the front desk repeatedly. We never got towels. Front desk would never pick up the phone so all requests for house keeping and towels required a trip to the front desk. Even after repeated requests for house keeping the room was not cleaned. I was also told that honors points would be awarded even though we booked via Expedia. This is not true. Thank you Hilton for reminding me why I haven't stayed at any of your locations in 10 years.

Got a cocktail in the bar around 9pm. Asked for room number. Couldnt remember at first so got room card out of purse and gave number when drinks arrived to the table. Decided to take drinks back to our room and were followed to the lift by the female bar tender, asking me to go to the bar and sign for the drinks. Highly embarressing. I returned to the bar with the member of staff and made the full payment but will never stay at this hotel again. Was made to feel in front of other guests that we intended to not pay. Do not expect that sort of service at a high end hotel. To make matters worse, the coctails werent even very nice and we both left them. What a waste of £22 and poor service.

The first day.. The front management was very professional but My room had water on the carpet when I first checked In. House keeping brought 2 towels and put on the spots, but made no effort to dry them. A 2nd time they were called and house keeping brought 2 towels and made no attempt to dry . It was a great place to stay close to the Cardiff Castle and the room was nice. We had a problem with room service not providing cutlery for our food we order to the room. The young man said he would bring it tight away and he never came. We had to use our fingers and spoon For the morning coffee. They gave us a credit for the food which was very nice.

What can I say, my review is somewhat biased as I spend a lot of time at the Hilton Cardiff (it's my home away from home) The staff are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I love the online chat feature in the app and the staff are always very prompt with responding, as someone who has anxiety and doesn't always feel comfortable using the telephone, I really appreciate this feature and the ease of use. The hotel itself is lovely as always. The rooms were very clean, spacious and very comfortable. The executive lounge is always a nice treat and is something I look forward to. Just that space and time to relax away from the hustle and bustle is very much needed. There was only 1 main lift working (with a smaller lift at the rear of the hotel), but if your feeling fit, the stairs are a great alternative. The Graze restaurant is lovely and offers a varied selection of food and drink. The breakfast options are always amazing. Restaurant staff are also lovely and welcoming. My only niggle if any, would be that the lounge needs some air conditioning or large fans, as it's been extremely warm in there over the last few weeks. It might just be the Hilton, but it's the staff that makes it an amazing hotel. Looking forward to our return home away from home vist.

Negatives: Booked the hotel because it said the pool was open 7am to 9pm. This wasn’t true, so we couldn’t use it. We paid more for a hotel with a pool. I ordered room service 07.00-07:30 as we had to leave early. It was never delivered despite reception telling me it was on its way at 07:40. At 8:10 we gave up and went to the restaurant. At 8:20 we got our food but had no time to eat it all. I paid extra for a room with a view. That view is obscured by a stale smelling net curtain that is fixed in place. The reception system was down when we went to check out, so I couldn’t see any room charges. Positives: the room was spacious, quiet and the air con worked well. Reception staff apologised for the food issue.

Friendly reception staff, great central location right next to the castle, 24 hrs room service. Night time it can be a bit noisy with some clubs going on till 3 am. Parking not cheap at 36 £ per night.

Although we only stayed one night here, we were delighted with the service and experience at the Cardiff Hilton. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable (thanks for the dinner recommendation! ), and our room was perfect—quiet, with wonderful views of Cardiff Castle. Would stay again!

Only stayed 1 night here but im so glad i did as the location is perfect. Its only afew minutes walk to the local high st, the bus stop is right outside and the castle is just opposite the hotel. All the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help us. Rooms were very comfy and clean, would say this is more a 5* then a 4*

Check-in was very smooth and our room was ready early which was great so we could shower after a 6 hour car journey and then head out to watch rugby. We waited for nearly an hour for our pre-booked table reservation but the food was good. Unfortunately been charged twice for dinner so need to call the hotel tomorrow. The spa facilities were extremely disappointing and desperately need upgrading.

It's a 3 star hotel at best. Pros - 1) Central location 2) Breakfast 3) Size of room and bathroom Cons - 1) Service - Literally have to call the reception and beg them to give you basic amenities like water, coffee, milk etc - No toilet rolls or mugs etc provided when the room is cleaned. You need to call reception for every little thing and continuously remind them. Then there is a chinese whisper game they play with the house keeping, so what you end up getting is anyone's guess. 2) Spoiled fruits at breakfast - while the hot food at breakfast is nice, the cut Fruits are spoiled. The melons had turned acidic and high and it takes forever for them to be replenished. - cutlery is not provided so you need to walk around the restaurant yourself asking for a fresh fork, a knife, a glass etc. - the coffee is undrinkable 3) Wierd client tell - a young girl around 12 was being harassed by a much older man in the jacuzzi. The mother had to intervene by including her older sons. It turned into a very heated screaming match where she and her family were made to feel unsafe. The mother had earlier asked me to accompany her to the jacuzzi as she didn't feel safe entering it with so many men in there. The entire pool area was full of quite intimating looking men. There need to be some security personnel in such areas. The whole experience even as a by stander was scary. In a nut shell - Not the kind of experience you expect at a 4 star hotel like the Hilton. We stayed in a clean comfortable room with a view of the castle. As we were there for a concert the hotel was very busy and the service for dinner was very slow. The staff were very apologetic and said there were only two chefs on duty so maybe they should have foreseen the situation and had more people in. We thought the parking was vastly overpriced at £32.95 per night. This is the most expensive we have ever encountered at a hotel. The nightly room rate was also very expensive but this was no doubt due to the fact that Billy Joel was at the nearby Principality Stadium. On the whole we could not fault the attitude or helpfulness of the staff.

Refurbished rooms are a big improvement with large showers replacing baths, although pressure and temperature could be better. Great location for the city and University, pleasant bar, and they have their own parking nearby. BUT Breakfast in Graze restaurant- yuk. Food not great but the big failing is cleanliness - tables not properly cleaned with crumbs from the last customer left on the (sticky) table top, cutlery not used by one diner is left on the table for the next, and dirty plates stacked among the clean. It would be poor for a £100 a night hotel but this place is well north of £200 a night- it’s not good enough.

Loved: Service: fabulous Room: appeared to be refurbished, lovely room, smart, comfy large bed. Breakfast: best we’ve had, loads of choice, excellent quality. Bar: nice decor and ambience. Didn’t love: Room: no plug point near a mirror so difficult to dry hair etc. No phone so couldn’t call for an ironing board when needed or room service. Details on sheet when checking in gave a dial code but couldn’t use. No mini fridge. Health Club: real let down. Tiny for the size of the hotel, very run down, changing rooms tiny, only a few showers. Not the cleanest in the changing rooms. Needs a refurb. We had a very poor stay indeed. We stayed in room 333 The room smelt of cigarette smoke. The television did not work. We reported this on 3 separate occasions to 3 different members of staff who were behind the reception desk and each time we were told that someone would go up to look at it - I think they named Stuart ? We were woken by the fire alarm just before midnight - we went outside only to see that there was a police riot van and multiple police officers in reception talking to a gentleman who was sitting on the sofa. There were also people still sat in the bar area. These people did not move and did not come outside at all. Unlike us in our night wear. We remained outside for some time. Once we were allowed back in, there were no staff members available to show us where the staircases were, reception was busy and no one knew what to do. We eventually went in a lift however before arriving at our floor the alarm went off again. This time we had to try to navigate our way through an unfamiliar corridor with poorly placed fire exit signs. We eventually arrived in reception via a lounge / function room ? We were unable to open the fire exit doors there as there were a number of homeless rough sleepers in the doorway. All of this will be visible on your CCTV systems. All in all a very poor experience of staying at The Hilton Hotel Cardiff. Am still waiting for a response from Hilton hotels (was promised an email when we checked out 5 days ago.)
We had a very poor stay indeed. We stayed in room 333 The room smelt of cigarette smoke. The television did not work. We reported this on 3 separate occasions to 3 different members of staff who were behind the reception desk and each time we were told that someone would go up to look at it - I think they named Stuart ? We were woken by the fire alarm just before midnight - we went outside only to see that there was a police riot van and multiple police officers in reception talking to a gentleman who was sitting on the sofa. There were also people still sat in the bar area. These people did not move and did not come outside at all. Unlike us in our night wear. We remained outside for some time. Once we were allowed back in, there were no staff members available to show us where the staircases were, reception was busy and no one knew what to do. We eventually went in a lift however before arriving at our floor the alarm went off again.
