I had to cancel last minute and tried to reach out two days before check-in, but was still charged for the full four-night stay even though I had a flexible rate. The most disappointing part was the lack of responsiveness. Messages sent via Hotels.com were ignored, and it took three days to receive a reply by email from the hotel manager. Other hotels in St Andrews normally charge the first night in similar situations. Charging the full stay feels unusually rigid. You are clearly paying a significant premium for the location near the Old Course, but the level of service does not match that price point. I would recommend travellers visiting St Andrews to consider other options—either better premium hotels or more affordable B&Bs that offer better overall value.
