OYO Hotel Portage I-94

There were people lurking around the parking lot plus you could see some broken window blinds and dirty curtains. In addition the parking lot was poorly lit. We felt so unsafe that we kept driving and found another hotel. I totally wasted my money because it was too late to cancel my reservation.

Ice machine didn’t work. Back door that lead to parking lot had no security, as in no card needed to enter. Felt a little unsafe. Hotel room was okay not bad. Lady at the front desk was very nice.

For the price we got what we paid for! Staff was friendly, but the place was rundown. TV in the room didn’t work, not enough outlets to charge our phones, vending machine was also out of service.

The staff was friendly- the building and furnishings have seen better days. The ice machines on the 2nd and 3rd floors didn’t work. The location was convenient to the Dunes and the cost was very reasonable.

Unclean, feels unsafe, would not recommend. No lock on ground floor window, no sign on building, dirty mattress, broken down car in parking lot, unexpected pet fee upon check in, broken lamp.

This property needs some work. Carpets throughout the facility need cleaning or replacing. TV provided was out of date (No HDMI and not smarttv). Bathroom was clean except tub was stained to look as though it was not clean. Floor tiles in bathroom need replacing or securing. Towel rack shelf was supported by roll of toilet paper. Desk was rocky and unsure if it would fall apart, legs need to be tightened. Curtains should be replaced. I was not impressed with this property and probably will not choose on next visit. Breakfast offered limited selections and only cold items, nothing hot, unless you microwaved oatmeal. There was no road signage to know you had reached the right location as it is tucked in behind a bar- landmarks were key to finding your spot at night.

The exterior and interior was sketchy. The elevator had a lot of sand on floor and was dirty and then the next morning it had empty shot gun shells on the floor? The room was very tiny, furnishing from the 1970’s, the towels were very thin and tiny as well. The bed only Had a sheet, blankets were available on a wall rack but no comforter just sheets. The tv was 13in, very small as well. Just very dated and felt unsafe. I will say the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. Two important things but rest was rough. Glad it was only $100.00 but will not return.

This hotel was disgusting. The room was the worse smell ever and the bathroom had black mold. We looked at the room and immediately checked out. The hotel said they would offer a refund to Expedia but Expedia refused a refund to me. I would never recommend this hotel and never recommend Expedia’s customer service. I wish I could even less stars

Place needs update but room and bedding clean

Super dirty and out dated. Carpet was gross and stained. Pictures presented on webpage are not legit pictures. It's basically a run down super 8 with a new name. Window locks were broken so anyone could come into the room. Wouldn't recommend.

I didn’t stay here. Walked in the room for 5 minutes and turned around and left. Half eaten Chocolate bars behind the bed spiders crawling on walls beetles in the bed, literal beetles in the bed my fiancé wouldn’t sit down on anything. Stank like a nursing home and cigarette smoke. I told the front desk lady about the bugs and I even took pictures and she said “oh that looks like a fly.” Gaslighting at its finest. I’m still trying to get my money back from Expedia avoid this place at ALL COSTS

Beds were extremely comfortable & hotel was very clean! All they needed was a sign to locate the place lol.

Room was not clean. Stains everywhere. Holes in the wall. Other stuff splattered on the wall. Furniture was falling apart. Bathroom was very shoddy. Windows were gross. Elevator did not work. WIFI did not work. They did repaint halfway up one wall in the room though, that was nice. I was advised by locals to stay on the other side of the freeway next time. This area is known as the transient area. The pictures on hotels.com are nothing like what my room was. Not even close. Pretty sure the blankets for from the 1980s. And this website will not let me upload photos. I have plenty to share. DO NOT STAY HERE!

First entering the room it smelled really bad of dirty feet, or animal. The stench was so bad that i had to go to the dollar store to purchase deodorizers, small space fragrances and sanitizers to reduce the smell. I have to say that we were able to rid some of the stench but it lingered our whole stay. The refrigerator inside had animal hairs in it i spent more time cleaning the room rather than relaxing. I found wrappers in the room under the bed and even a dirty sock. It's true when they say you get what you pay for. I am going to have to upgrade where we stay from here on out and spend a little more for something clean and well kept.

There was no cable TV service only certain rooms at smart TV so the room we had did not have a smart TV so we had no TV the entire night

This hotel is very close to the interstate, but relatively quiet.Our room was large and comfortable, with air conditioning. The mattress and bed linens looked new. There was plenty of hot water with good water pressure for my shower. Our door locked and also had dead bolts inside the room to lock the door. The breakfast was simple but adequate for the price we paid. Everything was very good.

Stained carpets and chairs. Only a single sheet on the bed. No cold water only burning hot showers. Loose floor tiles in bathroom. TV was wobbly and being held up by a make shift piece of wood lol.

This hotel had everything I wanted for the price. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning worked. There was plenty of hot water and good pressure in the shower. There were lots of tv channels to choose from. The breakfast was very simple but good. Yes, the carpets are worn and the chairs are old and stained. If you are picky and like everything shiny and new this is not your hotel and do not book. If you are not picky and want a nice place to sleep for the price than this hotel is for you.

The AC unit in the room was not turned on prior to our arrival. The first room we were put in never cooled down after 2 hours. Moved to a second room with a newer AC unit that at least had a fan to circulate the hot air in the room. This one never cooled down either. Worst night of sleep in a long time.

It was a really nice stay, very clean, and very friendly staff. The only thing that was a bit iffy was the wifi and tv stations, as they would glitch and flicker out when watching the tv. Other than that its pretty good.

The beds just had bedsheets, no blankets. Otherwise, no major concerns.

Check in was a breeze! Jasmine, the young lady at the front desk for check-in, was very pleasant. The first thing walking into the room that we noticed was an odor of old or dirty. The walls in the room had swatches of different paint, blotches of wall filler that was left un-sanded, cobwebs on the ceiling, the microwave did not smell right, the fridge was dirty. Over-all the room was not what we had expected. I went to sit in the office chair at the desk in the room and I sunk to the floor. I was not able to work that way. I went to the front desk and asked if they could swap out the chair since i had a lot of work to do. Dara I believe the clerks name was, not a very pleasant person to say the least, said that she had nothing to do with the furniture and there was nothing she could do about it. I then asked her if the coffee pots were going to be turned on that evening and she stated that no, those were for breakfast. It was hot, humid, and even drizzled the night of our stay. We were on the first floor and had my 9-year-old shih tzu with us so when i took him out to do the duty and came back into the room, the odor became more apparent to wet dog. Lucky wore a rain jacket and had just been groomed the day before. A desk clerk stated that the first floor is designated to visitors with pets. The dog next door was a barker! The continental breakfast was not continental at all. Cereal, milk, some browned bananas and I did not see nor smell fresh coffee. Just a heads up!!!

I had no one at the lobby desk and I yelled several times, no one was there for a long time to get checked in... Finally I did get my room key and decided to go elsewhere. I got a different hotel and left room key at front desk.

I added my adult daughter to the reservation so she could check in & Expedia did not make it visible to the hotel. So they would not allow her to check in causing me to have to detour from the wedding i was heading to so i could get checked in. The lady was very rude to my daughter, which was unnecessary. The bathroom in my room was horrible. There was mold in the cracks at the top of the surround. There was a patch where leaks must have occurred on the ceiling above the toilet and the wall behind the toilet. They were almost 2 feet wide & long and all looked bad enough for me to take pictures. would not recommend the place to anyone.

Older hotel, set back off the Main road missed the turn twice, no sign! Room clean, water pressure good. Good basic room at reasonable rates! Free wifi, close to 94...

It suits my needs for a cheap place to stay near the Lake. I've stayed there several times over the past few years, no major complaints. It does seem a bit creepy pulling up, but i've walked around to restaurants and bars nearby, no problems as an older woman.

I would not stay at this location again. Although it is very close to the dunes.

2 restaurants located within walking distance. Very quick drive to Indiana Dunes. Affordable, friendly hotel. Will be staying again next weekend.

We paid way too much for this hotel. It was a last minute trip and everything in the area was full but this is a $49 a night place that advertises as it is better. 1) It’s in a shady location. Apple and Google maps takes you to the location across the street. 2) The first thing is the signs look like the hotel is under new management but when you get closer they have been there for a long time. 3) The check in lady was not friendly at all. 4) The office area was a mess. 5) The doors have tape holding up the room numbers. 6) The room was clean but both beds only had a sheet. 7) One bed has a block of wood holding it up. I’ll add a photo. 8) The bathroom was clean but a place you don’t put suitcases on the ground. 9) We slept fine. Overall, I gave it a 3 star but that’s because I’m Midwest nice. If I was rude I’d give it a 2 at best. 10) The breakfast was cereal, oatmeal or some kind of wrapped donut. A rough Super8. Basically, it worked to get us a place to sleep but if driving by during the day I would not have seen it hidden down the hill behind the bar next to the storage units or I would have seen the condition and kept driving. I would say though that it was in better shape then the econolodge across the street. That place made my kids cry when they thought that was where we were staying.

The hotel was clearly still in process of being renovated, and still had some signs from previous owners instead of OYO. But, the room was clean, and the overall condition of the room was acceptable, with no major complaints. Breakfast was simple, but sufficient. I would stay there again.

The hotel is older, but still clean and functional. All we needed was a clean place to sleep and this filled the bill. The hotel staff could have been friendlier. They were just very matter-of-fact. The breakfast was not what we expected--just sugared cereal really. The coffee in the lobby was undrinkable; the room coffee maker brewed a pot that looked more like weak tea than coffee. As a person who loves her coffee, this is a deal breaker. I probably wouldn't stay here again, unless there were no other options.

There are many things I liked about my stay. First, the prompt and polite service from the staff. My room was clean and my bed very soft. There was a coffee pot in my room and an alarm clock. Last, but the best, there was a free breakfast with rolls, juice, milk, choice of cereal, coffee. Very nice. Will stay again !

A bun with a ton of sugar is not a breakfast. Nothing else. Miserable. But the staff is golden. Keep all of them or else the business falls

Everything seemed to be done as cheaply as possible, such as not even bedspread. Just a hotel banner style footer on bed. Supposedly a very expensive new smoke alarm system added, but blankets have cigarette holes in them and burn marks on sink. Heavily warned about smoking policy by staff when checked in. The breakfast did not include much and coffee station was not in same area. When i went to the very sparse breakfast was watched by staff like i was going to steal something , very unfriendly. I would not recommend to anyone unless it was all their buudhet could afford.

Room was hot upon arrival and the breakfast was mainly just yogurt, cereal and coffee. Beds and washroom was clean. The floor and other parts of the room were not vaccumed or cleaned well.

The property should discontinue breakfast. Worst excuse for breakfast I've seen in my 50 years of traveling.

The place is a dump. It stinks. Breakfast was cereal and rotten bananas. The smells in the lobby, hallways, and rooms was so pungent that I wanted to throw up. The staff was very friendly though, but the place is a dump terrible horrible smelly dump

Property was moderately clean. Breakfast was provided. Water pressure and hot water were good. Great price, would stay there again.
