Nice stay aside from the broken elevator. It was also unfortunate only able to recover $30% of my security deposit. Supposedly there’s a $42 parking fee and a destination fee that isn’t mentioned at check in or the Expedia app during booking. There should be more transparency and no excuse for surprise fees from a billion dollar hotel conglomerate.

Staff was excellent at front desk and restaurant upstairs! A little bummed to see that the poolside bar and dining wasn’t open yet. Made the most of the pool nonetheless. Room was great with a beautiful view. The bathroom was a little musty without great ventilation. Only 1 elevator in operation for staff and guests so sometimes it took a bit to get places but we were luckily in no rush.

Our stay was nice. We really love it here, but will not be staying here again until both of the elevators are fixed. The hotel is between owners right now and I was advised this is why the broken elevator will not be fixed anytime soon. I think it's clever though there is a poster at every elevator advising the guest to "Your Wellness Journey Starts Here" aka "Take the stairs." LOL It's really sad to see the toll it takes on the staff as well. :(

Hotel is older and located on a noisy intersection. Staff was nice and room was clean with a decent view. Pool was average. Bikes were available. It is walking distance to beach & restaurants. Not sure it’s the best value for the money.

One elevator working during my week visit. Longest wait was 18mins for the elevator. Received a daily credit that I couldnt use t But was charge daily. Small pool area. Outside bar wasn't open. Stayed on 10th floor. Restaurant on 11th floor. I can hear people talking and chairs moving in my room from the restaurant. Very disappointed with stay. Hilton needs to do better.

The ocean view from the restaurant was beautiful. The elevator situation needs to be fixed. The hotel only had one elevator that was working for eleven floors. We had to take the stairs several times because the elevator was taking so long.

We may have just gone at a bad time, but the (small) pool wasn't clean (and the pool area just looked sort of abandoned), our room had electricity in only about 50% of outlets, and someone had pre-filled the Keurig-style coffee pot with water (which couldn't be seen), so we had a major coffee overflow in the morning. The manager, however, was fantastic, and she should be working in a much higher-end hotel. Only one elevator was working; it's motel-style (with room doors opening to the outside, not to an interior hallway), and one restaurant, with exorbitant prices. We cut our stay short and moved to another hotel. However, the walk to the beach (and shops and restaurants) was lovely, so if that's your main objective and you're not expecting a resort experience, you'll be just fine.

Beautiful hotel, however the bedsheets and shower towels smelled like mildew, the kinda smell that occurs when you leave the load wet in the washer for too long. Other than that it was clean, easy parking and close to the beach

Fruit flies coming from the bathroom, water smells very digusting and our room is located next to the exit and workers kept slamming it thru out the whole duration of the stay. People on the front desk made us wait exactly 4pm to let us know our room is ready but checked the people right behind us check in 20 minutes early. Mind you we are minority and the people behind us are white and looked rich so we felt ignored and not treated fairly

Hotel La Jolla was overall a clean, comfortable and convenient stay in San Diego. We were a little unsure at first because we found a few hairs in the bathroom and in the closet, upon our arrival. However, the front desk was quick to respond and sent the maintenance person to clean the areas of concern. Parking was relatively easy, though expensive and not complementary. The main concern is that the hotel needs a refresh. Overall, the hotel shows its wear and is very dated. For example, a small detail like the mirrors by the elevator are not reflective anymore. They are scratched and damaged. That might seem purely cosmetic but as a traveler, those details have always proven to be symptoms of greater things that need to be addressed. Another example is the handle on our shower came off. We were able to put it back and use the shower but details like that show the need for regular maintenance.

One of the elevators was under renovation, it took 2-5 mins for the only elevator to arrive. There’s no indication whether it’s coming down or up or which floor it was on. It’s quite frustrating with my leg condition. The room was not cleaned to meet the basic standards. Pillows were as flat as pancakes, linens were yellowish and of low quality. Dinner was overpriced compared to the professionalism of kitchen and dining staff. The entire stay was quite unpleasant.

We took a family vacation, La Jolla is a favorite. This property had beautiful views from the 9th floor, very convenient to walk to grab coffee or food, even to the beach if you’re not carrying too much stuff with you. Drinks and food were good from the restaurant! Housekeeping came by daily to tidy up. We loved it and will be back again.

room and view were very very nice however it was quite loud as the walls were pretty thin and is close to a highway. Otherwise the bed was comfortable, the room was overall clean and the bathroom was nice.

We wanted an ocean view room so we could sit and look at the ocean . You could not sit anywhere in the room and see the ocean . You could see the ocean if you stood in the corner by the desk and looked at a 60 degree angle . I expect such shenanigans from a motel 6 but expected more from a Hilton . To make sure I had every chance not to sit and look at the ocean housekeeping knocked on the door at 8 am on a Saturday! If I wanted to be woken up on my one day to sleep in I could have stayed home with the kids instead of a weekend away with my wife . Wouldn’t recommend the property, nothing special about it and the elevators are as slow as can be .

The bed was ok i guess because i kept getting up all though the night, because the room was so hot! We got a room with great views but the noise above us was not worth it. Our room was above the dinning room. We ordered food ans never got to our room. We got locked out our room because the door needed to be charged, that took 20 min and the food that i bought got cold and no i can't heat it up because they're no microwave in the room.

First impression is the facility is pretty outdated. There was only one elevator in operation, due to renovation. I ended up having to take the stairs up and down from the 6th floor, since the wait time for the elevator was so long. The A/C wasn’t fully effecting. We had the temperature in the room set at 65 degrees, and it still felt a lil warmer than that.

Terrible experience. Hotel itself is very clean and in a great location, however, we were woken up by noises every evening, and in particular by a party and loud music one of the evenings. We were woken up at 1 am by basically a concert in the room above us. Front desk was super unhelpful and told us to call the cops ourselves. We were exhausted and it ruined our following day of vacation as well. One elevator for a huge hotel, so you just stand there for a while waiting for the elevator, so we ended up taking the emergency stairs up and down a lot. Just awful rude staff, awful experience. I wish I had paid attention to the other reviews that mentioned the noise and the elevator.

Beautiful hotel but restaurant service was horrible, we were seated and sat for over 30 minutes before someone took our order, our drinks arrived late, we ordered lunch but 40 minutes later, it still wasn’t ready. The Restaurant was not busy at all. It was 1130 lunchtime, the waiter and the waitress kept walking past our booth without asking us if we needed anything, eventually after 45 minutes waiting we canceled the order and left

While to hotel could use some updating it was a comfortable place to stay. A few issues, the first of which was major: 1. Housekeeping left our door open all day after cleaning one day. We did not get back until the evening, and our door was ajar. I addressed the issue with the Hotel Manager and she said she would look into it and get back to me, that never happened. This is a major security and safety issue that should be a major red flag to anyone looking to stay at this property. 2. There was supposed to be a Fourth of July party from 11 to 7 in the pool area with food at some point. The bar was rarely staffed and no food had been put out all day, at least until we left just before 6. The front desk kept saying they would look into it but it was the restaurant's responsibility. 3. Service at the rooftop restaurant was very poor the first night, but we had outstanding service for breakfasts!

The experience was terrible, with tons of random extra fees, including a mandatory destination fee of $30 per day. ( A nightly resort fee of $33.84 has already been charged. ) During check-out, I was just a bit confused and asked the front desk why this fee was charged since it wasn’t mentioned during check-in or listed on the Expedia invoice. The African-American woman at the front desk was incredibly impatient and had a terrible attitude, making me feel like she was ready to hit me if someone hadn’t stopped her. If you have such a bad temper, why are you working in customer service? Why not just go somewhere you can act like a boss? Her communication skills were awful; she couldn’t explain properly and just kept repeating one sentence: “I’m just an employee, I don’t know.” If you don’t know, then find out—that’s your job! Another customer checking out managed to explain it to me more clearly than she did. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room only provided two bottles of water per day, and asking for even one extra bottle incurred a charge. The front desk staff just directed me to buy the $8 bottled water in the room. There were no slippers provided either. It’s clear this hotel is promoted heavily on Expedia through paid ads. Absolute garbage hotel.

Easy check-in with the Hilton app and convenient access. Beautiful ocean views if you get rhe rooms that have the ocean view. Pay a little extra for the high-floor upgrade was totally worth it. Restaurant is amazing. Great quality foods, beautiful ambiance, amazing view, and attentive staff. Terrible how the weekends seem to fly right by when you're trying to relax.

Interesting take on a boutique hotel, which was completely redone. Penthouse restaurant is excellent but expensive. The views from the restaurant are amazing. The pool area seem nice, but it was pretty cold and foggy most of the day so it was not used.

Overall aside from the location, there was nothing great about this hotel. They charge a destination fee that they try to give you back as credit for their roof top restaurant. However, everything on the menu is very $$$. Aside from that, the restaurant staff was very rude when we just had coffee and not eat cos it was so $$$! The room was cleaned everyday, so I’ll give the cleaning staff credit for that. Only one elevator was operational, which delayed us quite a bit, just having to wait for it. At best this hotel is 2 stars!

The rooms were nice and clean. The amenities were not particularly impressive; there was no Jacuzzi available, which was a disappointment. Additionally, the on-site restaurant was very expensive, and the outside bar was not open during my stay. However, what I truly loved about this place was its excellent proximity to the beach and all the shops and dining options. Everything you need is within walking distance, and the beach is easily accessible by foot within a ten minute walk. This convenience made exploring the area very enjoyable and hassle-free.

Excellent view of the ocean and balcony! The food at Sea & Sky is excellent too! The bed was like a cloud of comfort. The view, the food, the bed were all superb! There was only one elevator and the AC didnt work. But who needs AC when you have the ocean air. Loved the room and the property. There is something special about this property/hoel.

Staff were wonderful. The room was a bit tired, the privacy screen on the shower has been handled and showed very obvious wear and tear. The restaurant staff were very attentive and the breakfast I ordered was fantastic - very fresh ingredients and presentation was lovely even for takeout.
