The Orth House Inn by Remotion

excellent for an evening at the Britt.

This is a tough one to write. There were positives, and negatives. The positives were a clean room, very comfortable bed, great location, and the staff was very responsive and pleasant. The negatives are for a beautiful old mansion, you walk to your higher cost suite through a terrible maze of old yard waste and dead gardens. Very disappointing. We also were misled with the bathroom situation. In the picture of the suite was a very small bathroom with a shower, but also a very large additional bathroom with double sinks and tub. We thought we could manage with the small, and the large both. Turns out the large bathroom is for the winery public use in the main house, and the picture wasn’t supposed to be included in the suite pictures. Which left us a bathroom so small your head hits the wall when you sit down on the toilet, the door only opens part way because it hits the toilet, there is NO counter-space. And the shower is small. The bathroom is up a steep set of tile stairs. At 68 and 71, and physically fit, we found it very challenging and almost dangerous. I would not have booked this room if I had known this bathroom situation. This unfortunately soured our experience, and recommendation of this suite in the Orth House.

This room is in a historic home in Jackson. Beautifully maintained and very clean. The tasting room downstairs is a bonus and grounds are lovely. I would absolutely stay here again!

It was a neat place. Bed was good. It’s an old place so modern touches weren’t really available. It’s really close to everything, which was great. The shower left a lot to be desired. This room is right where all the outdoor seating is for music, events, etc. so be prepared for people right outside your windows. Still a good place to stay.

It is a beautiful and historic building. We thought it would have been nice to have a write up of the history of the building and the Orth family. They have wine tasting guests downstairs that are not connected to the hotel guests. It is well insulated and quiet. I did have to deal with some bugs, mainly ants. It wasn't a trail coming in, but they kept showing up in the toilet and mainly the bathroom. I don't believe it was from lack of cleanliness though. The room was clean. Shutting the blinds for the evening was a bit of a chore. Most of the blinds were the type you have to pull down by the base , which was difficult only because someone had been pushed them all the way up. They have an abundance of towels, which was nice. I also like the room entry codes. It is just around the corner from the Good Bean, where we had breakfast. We look forward to our next stay for a concert at the Brit. It is very close for walking.
