Continental Hotel Lausanne

The staff was amazing from check-in to check-out. They were consistently warm and welcoming. They answered questions and offered informed advice. The room was small but laid out beautifully, giving a sense of spaciousness and comfort. The location was wonderful. It was across the street from the train station. It is a five minute walk to the art museum. It is a two minute walk to the funicular which takes you up to the cathedral and restaurants and shops of downtown. A bonus for vegetarians and salad lovers: there’s a historic cafe in the train station with great food and coffee. And the setting is lovely.

Tvärs över gatan från järnvägsstationen. Snabb och smidig incheckning. Rymliga rum med bra sängar, arbetsplats och fåtölj. Luftkonditionering. Bra med kaffemaskin och kapslar, thé och litet kylskåp. Helt ok badrum. Lite trist utsikt i rummen på baksidan men fint mot järnvägsstationen (även om det nu pågår renoveringsarbeten), sjön och alperna. Tunnelbana i samma kvarter och trevliga kvarter både strax norr- och söderut.

The staff at reception was efficient and friendly. The breakfast was pleasant and well-serviced. The location across from the train station was very convenient and the sound proofing of the hotel meant that the trains were not an intrusion. The Metro is right next door and gets you around easily.

For a short business trip to Lausanne, this hotel was very conveniently located opposite the main train station. The room was clean; only downside was the air-con not working. Breakfast was good but at £25 per person not cheap. Staff were friendly and professional.
