Royal Victoria Hotel

Pisa is a very nice city, and the Hotel is very well located, unfortunately needs some maintenance. Room comfortable, and good breakfast, the waitress Sacha made our day, very good and friendly. Unfortunately the Hotel does not have a bar, which could be a great plus, but you can order a drink from Room Service and will be delivered os at Reception area or at the patio located at top floor, which could be better kept. But as the location is great and around there are few options of restaurants and bars.

Les "plus": Hôtel "historique" (du coup un peu vieillot mais cela fait son charme) bien situé sur les bords de l'Arno. Petit parking possible. Accueil généralement bon mais inégal selon qui est à la réception. Patron très accueillant. Le "moins": très petit parking à atteindre par une rue très étroite. Et risque de se tromper en ressortant et de se trouver "pris" dans des sens uniques qui vous mènent dans la ZTL (amende à la clef...)

Das Hotel besticht durch traditionellen Italienischen Charme. Es war toll das wir einen Parkplatz hatten er allerdings abenteuerlich zu erreichen war. Die Crew war super nett und wir durfen länger bleiben da wir später weiter wollten. Die gemeinsame Dach Terrasse ist lauschig und lädt zum verweilen ein. Lediglich eine Klimaanlage wäre schön gewesen anstatt des Ventilators. 😁

Lovely old hotel really lovely place to stay the only issue we had was the noise and lack of cold water in the shower - breakfast was great - bathrooms were very old but as was the hotel so all in keeping. Staff were really friendly and great location. Independent Car Parking was down the road - dodgy looking blokes hanging around cars presumably for money - we didn’t pay them anything and no harm was done to the car - parking is free from 8pm to 8am and pay on easy park app. You can pull up outside hotel to load and unload car. We stayed for two days. Beautiful view of river.

Nossa hospedagem foi muito tranquila, O hotel fica às margens do rio Arno, uma vista encantadora do nosso quarto. Não tem estacionamento no local mas uma área pública paga, no período entre 08 e 20 h, ha poucos metros garante a tranquilidade para quem estiver em condução própria. Os atendentes são muito gentis e solícitos.

Personally liked the hotel as each floor was unusual with different pieces of furniture. Loved opening up the window in the morning and looking out at the river. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Really liked the roof top terrace however main concern was the noise on opening the door as there were bedrooms close by. It wouldn't take too much time to touch up small things.

We arrived at the hotel very late, to a friend of Welcome and the offer of room service for some drinks, as the hotel didn’t have a bar The staff kindly helped us to get our bags to our room which is very spacious and clean, although a little bit tired in decoration. However the excellent location of the hotel in the historic centre overlooking the river more than made up for the decor. A pleasant buffet breakfast was included in the price. All of the staff were extremely helpful & friendly. I would happily stay there again

Old classic hotel by the river, great location with easy walk to the Dome and Tower and just 13 min walk from the train station. The hotel is old style but in very good shape, I got a room with river view and it was well worth it. Loved Pisa, underrated stop in la Toscana. Staff makes a great aperitif and there is a very nice terrace to enjoy a sit down. Would stay again.

We knew this property was older, that was the appeal. It takes you back to another time. We loved our room with a balcony, and the lovely rooftop terrace isn’t to be missed for taking a nightcap up with you. There weren’t a lot of amenities, we were prepared with our own shampoo etc. we faced the street which seemed to be a gathering place for young people at night, so a set of earplugs is a must and you won’t be bothered. Great location, we would stay here again.

Parking lot, although good, I got lost several times and drove through unfamiliar areas. Didn't know there was a club around the corner, beds squeaked all night. Otherwise nice views, nice staff, young gentleman who served the hot chocolate was wonderful.

The history of the building is rather neat. The problem is how dirty the room was. There was a rotten, decomposing apple in the corner of my room and my bed sheets were dirty and had dirt in the sheets. It felt as if the room was not cleaned before hand. The breakfast was pretty below average as your options are very limited for a hotel breakfast. Majority filled with pastries that were stale and crackers. The view from the smoking section that overlooks the river was gorgeous but other then that, it was a pretty poor experience.

The hotel is old and needs renovating. Not necessarily ripping everything out but updating and redecorating sensitively. A lot of the original features are great and the place has the air of a once grand hotel. However basic maintenance isn’t being done. Tiles were absent or loose everywhere. The paintwork was flaked or worn on many areas. there was only luke warm water. The shower fitting was broken. The TV wasn’t attached to the aerial or any input device. Lastly, the room we were in had broken glass all over the floor. This was dangerous and also suggests the room wasn’t cleaned before we went in. A very disappointing visit.

Is not what are you expecting this place is not clean at all, I found mouses or rat poop,and you can't sleep because mosquitos are everywhere so I have a bad experience in this place .

Condition of the room was rather dirty. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. Windows aren't soundproof. Found a silverfish under the spare toilet roll. Spiders/cobwebs in room. Key to door is also very old and took a bit of getting used to. Other than that, location was great, roof terrace was awesome and staff were friendly.

Loved this property! The staff was wonderful and our room was very clean. Walking distance to everything.

Too much noise from people gatherings and people outside!

Internet was running at speeds from 1997, I could not get any work done. The shower is a trickle and the AC never got cold.

The hotel claims to be the oldest in Italy and although that has it's charm the facilities do show their age. The wi-fi was very good as was the location, being close to the shops, bars & restaurants and only a 15min walk from the station and to the tower. The staff are excellent and always helpful. The continental breakfast was ample to start the day.

L'hôtel est parfaitement bien placé à Pise, sur les quais. Il a un charme fou, une histoire et une âme. Notre chambre, très spacieuse, était très confortable, avec une belle vue sur les quais.

The room and building was fantastic with old details. Service was good. The breakfast was OK but it didn’t really allow people who want to eat healthy. It had a lot of semi-finished products and the breakfast just wasn’t what I had expected. There is no air conditioner in the rooms and the night was terrible. It was sooooo warm and the windows didn’t open. The location of the hotel is very good close to the river with a magnificent view over the river. Over all 2/5. I will not be coming back.

Beautiful old hotel. Good location. Poor water pressure in bathroom sink and shower. Hard, stiff bed. Small shower.

Generally a clean hotel however the room is dated and sparse with almost no electricity sockets. Granted it's a very old hotel but a bit more comfort such as a rug on the old wooden floor would help. Staff very obliging.

It was in an area of Pisa where you could walk to the Leaning Tower and other buildings around. We had a river view from our balcony on the first floor. It was a very quirky place with lots of artworks.

The hotel is very well located. It is a beautiful old building with large rooms, but unfortunately, the statement that the hotel was fully refurbished in 2016 is probably inaccurate. According to the staff in the reception, only 8 out of 38 rooms have air conditioning, and it is painful to sleep without one under 35C temperature. The internet does not work well in some rooms, so I had to step out of the room to the lounge area to access the internet. I had a problem in my room as the air conditioning was broken and the internet wasn't accessible from inside the room. The ladies at the reception confirmed they could not do anything about the internet as the internet equipment was located on the other side of the building, and the rooms with air-conditioning were all taken for that night. After some conversations, they finally found one spare room with brand-new air conditioning, which improved a bit our stay. The bathroom conditions are worst. The hotel has great potential, but unfortunately, I would not consider it a 3*. Perhaps 2* is more suitable.

We loved our stay at The Royal Victoria Hotel in Pisa. It was our first night in Italy before travelling to different cities and it was definitely one to remember. The staff were very helpful as we arrived early, however they showed us to a bathroom so we could get changed into fresh clothes and held our luggage for us until check-in. The room was unique we loved the interior - the hotel itself is like a museum! There is also a secret terrace where we were served cocktails by a very friendly waiter. The breakfast was my favourite it Italy! Lots of choice and again, very friendly staff there to help you. 10/10 stay 😊

Pésima experiencia en el Royal Victoria Hotel de Pisa (agosto 2025). Tuvimos que abandonar el hotel el mismo día de llegada por las condiciones inhumanas de la habitación: 31°C sin aire acondicionado, solo tres ventiladores manuales que tuve que subir yo mismo a un cuarto piso. La temperatura no bajó ni un grado y fue imposible descansar. Solo había un enchufe en toda la habitación; tuve que bajar a pedir una regleta. El trato en recepción fue frío y poco resolutivo, sin ofrecernos ninguna solución ni alternativa. La propia directora del hotel reconoció el problema y nos invitó a abandonar la estancia, asegurando que se nos devolvería el importe a través de la agencia. La situación fue tan grave que tuvimos que reservar urgentemente otro hotel esa misma noche, asumiendo el gasto adicional. Me parece que lo que anuncian en su web no refleja la realidad: habitaciones mal equipadas, sin climatización y sin atención adecuada al cliente. He presentado una reclamación con pruebas (fotos incluidas) y estoy a la espera del reembolso. No recomiendo este hotel bajo ninguna circunstancia. No cumple con los estándares mínimos que se esperan de un alojamiento en pleno 2025. Evitadlo si buscáis descanso, comodidad y un trato digno.

Staff lovely. Lorenzo @ reception very friendly and helpful. We had early flight , wake up call @4 am he arranged some breakfast for 4 us at 4.30am . Beautiful very Old hotel.Huge rooms. Breakfast cold meats /yogurts / cheese /cereal/fruit & Fresh croissants . Hotel is facing river, Very central . Request back room, if light sleepover, as it is quite noisy from road. Or use earplugs. we walked 10 mins from Train. Hotel 10 mins walk to Leaning Tower. Taxi to airport €22. As had early flight. Thank you Alonzo & staff for our lovely stay

It was so unfortunate that the amenities and staff were so poor because the hotel itself is stunning. There was no hot water, ever, at all. The wifi didn’t work and the staff were weird and completely unfriendly including management. It’s almost as if they work at a museum and not a hotel. This place has a ton of history and great potential, if you can laugh about the misfortunes like we did it will be a good experience, for one night only.

The oldest hotel in Italy, you won't find the sterile decor of most hotels but it's charming and clean with lots of interesting things to look at. The air conditioning is a bit noisy but was very appreciated. The views over the river are very beautiful, the Palazzo Blu is just across the river and there are some great gelateria and restaurants nearby. Leaning Tower is about 15min walk. What stood out to us at this hotel was the staff. They were all very welcoming, friendly and happy to give us advice on where to park our car, dinner recommendations etc.

I stayed at this hotel in September 2024 for one night. It's conveniently located about 15 minutes from both the train station and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, right by the river. The hotel has a vintage vibe with old furniture, an old piano, and an old radio in the hall. Our bathroom was well-equipped with plenty of space for toiletries, which was a nice change from other hotels on our trip. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, separating the beds for me and my child. Breakfast was great. While I would have preferred more modern furniture and curtains instead of shutters, overall, it was a pleasant stay.

Hotellet är det äldsta i staden, kanske tom hela Italien, då det upprättades år 1050. Och det märks, hotellet är slitet trots upprustningar genom åren, men det är också det som ger Victoria dess charm. Utsikten mot floden från de pittoreska balkongerna är magnifik att vakna upp till. Sängen hade en metallram så komfort är inte ledordet i denna recension. Däremot fångar ögat både det ena och det andra i de vackert möblerade utrymmena och dess kuriosa som finns nedskrivet och upphängt på väggarna för den som är intresserad av historien bakom hotellet (och Italien i sig). Centralt beläget så du har möjligheten att ta dig till restauranger och dylikt bara runt husknuten. Personalen är behjälplig med alla dina frågor och ger både tips och råd i utbyte. Helt klart värt ett gott ord för ens bekanta om de råkar ha vägarna förbi Pisa!

Good location

Love this place. On the Arno, convenient to train station and the Tower, lively piazzas nearby. The room and the hotel in general have an abundance of character. Breakfast was lovely. Staff was kind and helpful. Great location with a breathtaking view from our window. A/C didn’t work, but a friendly staff member brought us a fan. Would definitely stay here again.

The Royal Victoria hotel is an amazing hotel. I have stayed here many times and enjoy ever visit. Great location and friendly staff make your stay all the more enjoyable.

Charmigt hotell där tiden stått still. Mycket Historia i väggarna. Klart värt att bo på om man läser på lite. Ligger centralt och bra till många fina restauranger och barer om man gillar det.

A wonderful hotel with excellent service in a convenient part of Pisa. Super fast check-in and check-out, with always-friendly front desk service. Breakfast needs an upgrade.

Wonderful view from the room. It was an easy walk from the train station and then to the leaning tower. The wood floors were... interesting. Definitely needed to wear shoes in the room. But the room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

Fin fräsch frukost, men mest brödbaserat utbud. Uppskattade den ändå. Och att man kunde få cappuccino och espresso.

The property was very cool. The historical factors were amazing and the closeness to the main draw of the area, the tower, is great. The breakfast was lacking in my opinion.

A comfortable hotel in a great location with lots of character and history. Antique furnishing provided a quant charm and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was a buffet that helped to start the day off right.

The oldest hotel in Pisa which was really lovely to be in, the history and the decor was breath-taking. Breatfast wasn't wow, a little disappointed we requested well in advance a twin bed and we were given a double bed, which is awkward when you're travelling with a friend, but for 1 night we made do.

Hotellet er utrolig slitt og mangler det meste. Elendig og gammeldags bad, senger er forferdelige og generelt dårlig. Frokosten er også dårlig. Det eneste positive er plassering. Ligger sentralt.
