Our family had such a nice time! Pontoon ride, the grandkids caught their first fish off of the dock, we went for a walk, lots of bonfires. each level of the cabin provided privacy. The porch was used a lot for legos & reading books. A baby gate would be nice for the lower level stairs or note to bring one with you. One thing we should mention to the owners: the dishwasher doesn’t seem to clean the dishes very well. But, the accommodations were very nice & well thought out. Very comfortable!We hope to come back someday! The Finger Family

The cabin was terrific for our multi-generational getaway. We loved the thoughtful design touches, the bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and the large bunk room in the lower floor. Having a private dock with our own pontoon boat was a big plus!

This cabin has it all! A bathroom for every bedroom made it so nice! All the amenities are top notch... from well stocked kitchen, grill, fire pit with 8 comfortable Adirondack chairs, sand beach, dock and pontoon to the great entertainment system. Plenty of firewood and starters, cozy blankets, and everything we needed for a great up north stay!! Loved the cabin decor. Wonderful place to experience!!

We had an amazing stay at the cabin! The property is so beautiful, clean and stylish, and was super comfortable for 4 families with kids. We got together for the New Year Eve and had an amazing time. The cabin was decorated for the holidays, and even had a full-size beautiful Christmas tree with lights, that was a pleasant surprise, that we enjoyed on top of all other house decor. The real wood burning fireplace was perfect addition to the festive and cozy holiday atmosphere in the cabin. There was plenty wood provided. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. We had 7 kids under the age of 11, and they loved the bunkbeds set up downstairs with comfy couches, game table and tv. There were plenty blankets for them to get cozy when playing games or watching the movies. It was a perfect winter getaway, that we all will remember! This cabin was the perfect setup for a relaxing winter weekend with friends. We had more than enough space with 4 adults and 4 kids. It was awesome to have separate spaces for us all to play games, watch movies, and sleep in. The kids loved the bunk beds with large tv downstairs. The adults enjoyed time relaxing upstairs by the fireplace. We especially appreciated the large supply of firewood for the cold MN weekend. The cabin was more beautiful in real life than the pictures could convey. A lovely place to stay and we all hope to return.

My family loved this cabin! Room for all of us (13&dog). Such unique decor, beautiful bathrooms, big dinning table, porch with lake view and comfy daybed, the awesome fire pit, the bunk beds were so fun. We used the pontoon on the beautiful small quiet lake and caught crappies, saw eagles, and loons. We try to find different places to rent for our fall family vacation but we all think this might be the place to come back to year after year it was that great!! Great communication with hosts. Definitely a 10.

Our family of five had a wonderful time enjoying this beautiful rental! The lake had a ton of fish, the sandy beach was fabulous, the pontoon rides were awesome, the fire pit and patio area were top notch! We saw loons, eagles, a beaver and lots of dragonflies at this O’Brien Lake cabin. We also loved the basement family room space with the HUGE television and bunk room as well as listening to the Sonia music system out on the screened in porch. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great escape up north!

Beautiful place that fit our family of 11 perfectly with plenty of room to move. The lake was great and swimming was fun. Caught a few fish and even found the rope swing on the other side of the lake…had to try it myself! Enjoyed a pontoon ride each night before sitting at the campfire for s’mores!

We LOVED our stay and are already talking about return trip in the future. The bedrooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The bathrooms and showers were clean with plenty of towels. We loved the style of all the spaces. There is an elevated cabin feel with cool design elements. We loved the mix of wood and eclectic tile. Upstairs features a fireplace, large dining table with benches, and an open concept kitchen. The basement has a big cozy couch and a large TV. We liked having both options--upstairs for board games and the basement for movies and video games. Since we visited in winter, we spent most of our time indoors, but did adventure out onto the snowy, frozen lake.

The house was spacious, clean, and had many amenities. We enjoyed the indoor fireplace and outdoor fire pit every day. The lake was a peaceful setting, and our kids loved wandering around the grounds. The owners were responsive and easy to work with. We would definitely come back!

My family (brother, sister and their kids) rented this cabin for a long weekend to relax, play games, and just spend time together. There is not a single thing we would change about this cabin. It was perfect for multiple families to have their own spaces with a private bathroom for each. It was nice to have main floor bedroom options for people who can't do stairs. The bunk area was fantastic. All of the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the extra throw blankets to be cozy while watching movies - and the puzzles/games were nice to have. The kitchen was perfectly appointed - we forgot a crockpot and found there was one there. The cleanliness of the entire cabin was impeccable, which was important to us. It was winter but we still enjoyed the peace outside, and sitting around the fire pit. Finally, the owners were so kind and responsive. Everything about our stay was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. It was a dream stay.

This cabin stay exceeded our hopes and expectations. It was perfect for our large family Christmas gathering. Plenty of room, fully decked out kitchen, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds and furniture, clean, easy lake access.... we were very impressed! Would love to check it out in the summer.

When looking for a place to stay for the family and friends for a weekend choose this place. BEAUTIFUL! Clean, stocked, and very spacious yet cozy. With 14 adults it never felt overwhelming as there are plenty of spaces to use. I would highly recommended this place may even plan another getaway there someday!

We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place for a family holiday get-away! Perfect blend of a rustic cabin with modern convenience. High end finishes and excellent craftsmanship in the construction. Plenty of space but also a cozy home away from home. Hosts were polite, professional, and accommodating!

We loved the property and wish we could use it in the summer as well. We had a great time and 13 adults stayed with plenty of room for everyone. the nice big kitchen table was adaptable for playing games as a group. We really enjoyed the home.

Within a few minutes of arrival, my son-in-law was talking about booking this home again next year. We loved our stay here! Our hosts were the perfect blend of hands off but always available for questions that came up. Having separate spaces for groups to gather made it very easy to enjoy. The 3 season porch was the perfect spot to start the day with a cup of coffee. The great room was big enough to handle our entire family & kept comfortably cool with a very unique ceiling fan. The bunk area & theatre room was perfect for our youngest to have a spot to play.

This venue was ideal for our stay! It was so nice that each of the four couples had there own bedroom and bathroom. And the group living room/kitchen worked so well for our cooking and game playing! Loved it all and we will go back!

This is our 2nd stay at Sunset Haus and we will be returning this fall. This rental home is like living in the pages of MN Cabins magazine! Lake O'Brien is a quiet, peaceful lake without the water traffic on the Whitefish Chain. If you are considering renting this cabin, I would not hesitate as everything is as advertised and the owners are wonderful. Peaceful, relaxing location but still close to groceries, restaurants, trails and many things to do in Crosslake/Brainerd area. Highly recommend -- 5 stars all the way!!!!!

Within a few minutes of arrival, my son-in-law was talking about booking this home again next year. We loved our stay here! Our hosts were the perfect blend of hands off but always available for questions that came up. Having separate spaces for groups to gather made it very easy to enjoy. The 3 season porch was the perfect spot to start the day with a cup of coffee. The great room was big enough to handle our entire family & kept comfortably cool with a very unique ceiling fan. The bunk area & theatre room was perfect for our youngest to have a spot to play.

We had an amazing stay at the cabin! The property is so beautiful, clean and stylish, and was super comfortable for 4 families with kids. We got together for the New Year Eve and had an amazing time. The cabin was decorated for the holidays, and even had a full-size beautiful Christmas tree with lights, that was a pleasant surprise, that we enjoyed on top of all other house decor. The real wood burning fireplace was perfect addition to the festive and cozy holiday atmosphere in the cabin. There was plenty wood provided. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. We had 7 kids under the age of 11, and they loved the bunkbeds set up downstairs with comfy couches, game table and tv. There were plenty blankets for them to get cozy when playing games or watching the movies. It was a perfect winter getaway, that we all will remember! Thank you, Matt and Renae, for the accommodations, and creating such a great place to enjoy!

Fishing was great! The cabin continues to deliver a high quality family holiday weekend, where memories continue to be made. All the amenities you need in this cabin, and if you anything Renee is very accommodating. We sprayed for ticks and mosquitoes when we arrived, makes for a much more pleasant experience around the fire. We had S’more nightly with the kids, then sent them off to bed and enjoyed a relaxing night, with whiskey and wine in hand around the fire. The weather was the best we’ve had in our 5-years staying on Lake O’Brien. The cabin deliveries a very fun place! The pontoon is a great addition and keeps us coming back. Loons, Eagles, clear water, a wonderful Memorial weekend! Matt & Renee are great hosts!

Our Christmas gift to our adult children, their spouses and new in-laws last year was the gift of spending time together. We rented the cabin Memorial Weekend and had 10 adults ranging from 21 to 85 yrs old. We also had 2 dogs. The cabin never felt crowded and had a really cozy feel. We spent most of our day playing yard games, fishing and cruising on the pontoon. The evenings consisted of large dinners and cocktails around the large fire pit. The owners were most welcoming and answered any questions we had. They also understood how special it was we could bring our furry family members. They treated us with kindness and respect. I hope we will be able to rent again in the future. Our children said it was the best gift they ever received. Memories of time spent together are priceless!

Beautiful cabin and location. We went as a family and had such a relaxing time. Just played games, listened to the loons and other birds, did a little fishing and pontoon-ing. The cabin owners communicated with us well, everything was clean and comfortable. Just had a great time. Highly recommend!

We could not have asked for a better cabin for our extended family Christmas. The ambience, amenities, bedrooms and proximity to town were perfect. The fireplace became the gathering spot each day after activities. Everyone left wanting to come back!

Had a great time in the Minnesota North with friends midweek. Fireplace was great. We all had our own bathrooms. Property is in excellent condition, and right on the lake, great for ice fishing. Interior is furnished tastefully and comfortably. Beautiful area.

Absolutely beautiful property! Adults enjoyed the main level with wood burning fireplace and beautiful kitchen. Kids enjoyed the basement family room with large TV and bunk area. Great location close to Crosslake shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend!

This was our third time staying at beautiful Sunset Haus on Lake O'Brien. We can't say enough good things about this lake home which is exactly as described, beautifully decorated, and every amenity you need while up north. We were there with another couple from Oct 12-19 and timed it perfectly with peak fall colors. The guys caught fish every day including a nice walleye! There is so much to see and do in the Brainerd Lakes area. The cabin is perfectly located - easy to get to grocery store, gas station, nearby bars and restaurants - yet tucked in the woods on a quiet lake for peace and relaxation. We love this cabin and would highly recommend to anyone considering a stay. A true up north gem!!

Beautiful place that fit our family of 11 perfectly with plenty of room to move. The lake was great and swimming was fun. Caught a few fish and even found the rope swing on the other side of the lake…had to try it myself! Enjoyed a pontoon ride each night before sitting at the campfire for s’mores!

We stayed a week at this house in mid-August. It was perfect for two families (4 adults and 4 children) - and we easily could have invited more people. Communication was super easy around check-in and what to expect during our stay. We brought our own pool/lake floats, and that was a really good addition. I wouldn't expect a house to come with these, but I would recommend them to anyone planning to stay. The kitchen had all the items we would need to host family gatherings. The house supposedly came with a Sonos system, but I didn't find one and couldn't connect to one via wifi? But we brought a portable speaker, so we didn't have a problem. I would definitely stay here again!

We LOVED our stay and are already talking about return trip in the future. The bedrooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The bathrooms and showers were clean with plenty of towels. We loved the style of all the spaces. There is an elevated cabin feel with cool design elements. We loved the mix of wood and eclectic tile. Upstairs features a fireplace, large dining table with benches, and an open concept kitchen. The basement has a big cozy couch and a large TV. We liked having both options--upstairs for board games and the basement for movies and video games. Since we visited in winter, we spent most of our time indoors, but did adventure out onto the snowy, frozen lake.

We loved the property and wish we could use it in the summer as well. We had a great time and 13 adults stayed with plenty of room for everyone. the nice big kitchen table was adaptable for playing games as a group. We really enjoyed the home.

This home for my family was perfect inside and out! The living room was spacious and had enough seating for all of us to enjoy a movie by the beautiful wood burning fireplace! The downstairs was perfect for a slumber party not only for the kids but the adults as well! As for the outside there was a great little snow hill to go sledding down and the lake was great for fishing! As an added plus there was a grill available for us to use because who doesn’t like a grilled hamburger in the winter! Loved this cabin and can definitely see us coming back again!

This cabin has it all! A bathroom for every bedroom made it so nice! All the amenities are top notch... from well stocked kitchen, grill, fire pit with 8 comfortable Adirondack chairs, sand beach, dock and pontoon to the great entertainment system. Plenty of firewood and starters, cozy blankets, and everything we needed for a great up north stay!! Loved the cabin decor. Wonderful place to experience!!

My family (brother, sister and their kids) rented this cabin for a long weekend to relax, play games, and just spend time together. There is not a single thing we would change about this cabin. It was perfect for multiple families to have their own spaces with a private bathroom for each. It was nice to have main floor bedroom options for people who can't do stairs. The bunk area was fantastic. All of the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the extra throw blankets to be cozy while watching movies - and the puzzles/games were nice to have. The kitchen was perfectly appointed - we forgot a crockpot and found there was one there. The cleanliness of the entire cabin was impeccable, which was important to us. It was winter but we still enjoyed the peace outside, and sitting around the fire pit. Finally, the owners were so kind and responsive. Everything about our stay was perfect and exactly what we were looking for. It was a dream stay.

We had such a great time! The rustic modern design of the cabin was really nice and it had a great layout for our family of 10. We loved having the pontoon included and the little sand beach area and long tarred driveway were perfect for the 2, 4 and 6 year old grandchildren to ride their bikes and scooters safely. Catching sunfish right off the dock was also a highlight! We loved our stay!

Matt and Renae were 110% wonderful hosts!! Communication before and during the stay was second to none. The home was absolutely dreamy. The beds ands linens were super nice and comfy. The outside fire pit and view of the lake were spectacular. Having the beautiful pontoon boat was an added bonus. I certainly hope to be back and I easily give Matt and Renae my highest recommendation.
