Great pool, spa area with towels available. Staff friendly and welcoming. Washing machine/dryer in room. Restaurant in house convenient, food was good. Shower pressure was amazing. No noise heard from other guests in bedroom which is great. Comfortable bed. Good lighting and kitchen space. Booked a double/twin, upon entering room the make up was one queen and a made up sofa bed. The manager tried to remedy this with changing our room to original purchase, however upon entering new room the smell of wet carpet was horrible and we moved back to the original room which didn’t have the free snacks available that we obviously had paid for. Also, specifically requested parking at time of booking as we had a 6am ferry and had to leave at 4.30am, there is only a first come first serve limited car spaces for guests, you have to walk 5 mins to an offsite parking building with all your luggage, luckily I wasn’t travelling alone or would have been very unsafe walking to a external car building at 4.30am. The valet parking option wasn’t offered to us at the time of check in otherwise definitely would have purchased. It is also a struggle to get a park out the front to unload your luggage and check in. One of the staff assisted us with a luggage trolley and was helpful. No opening windows or nets and view of the back alley, rubbish bins and adjacent office buildings so had to keep curtains shut for privacy. Pillow was horrendous and smelt of previous user, sweaty.

The Hotel was completely full. One of the lifts was out of action so you had to wait on average 10-15 minutes to get a lift down to the lobby. No stairs from Level 14 as an alternative so not very safe. With the hotel full there should have been more staff at reception and concierge were not around very much.

We had a comfortable stay in Rydges Wellington. Do not stay here if you're driving though. Especially, if you have a big car (ute/van). They don't have enough parking for big cars and there are no covered parking nearby. That's what let me down. The staff also didn't seem helpful about it. But other than that, they were ok. Rydges Welly is along Pipitea. It would be good if you're going to the stadiums and wanna check out the beehive. It is 20-30 minutes walk from Te Aro though - where the cool cafes and young person vibes are.

This was our second time staying in Rydges Wellington. Really impressed with the service. We got in Wellington too early, the staff called us when the room was ready, and we got early check in. Check in was a breeze, and the whole stay was stress free. The room was great. The pool was good. Too bad the spa pool was not working though. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful hotel, amazing staff and at a great location. Parking was a tad inconvenient for my situation that night. Meanwhile, there were 2 operating lifts taking care of 17 floors, while the hotel was swamped. Not ideal, the queues and the wait was too long.

It was nice and central but limited-no parking onsite. Our room was tidy but not well cleaned, little details like the room cards on the bed had food and grease on them - makes you wonder what else wasn’t cleaned. Our extraction fan also didn’t work so the bathroom was very wet after showers. It was fine for 1 night.

The rooms were quiet dusty, the tables and around the beds you could see quiet a big build up of dust. Some more detailed cleaning/dusting would help. Often had to ask/follow up with things that should have already been available in the room. Breakfast/restaurant was lovely.

Loved the pool, and spa, and overall a nice place to stay. The cleanliness of the room let the rating down... needs a lick of paint or at least use some jif and vacuum under the beds, that was ick when we had to move the bed.

The location was really good as it was close to the train station, and it was convenient to walk to the shopping district, restaurants and cafes. I liked the entrance as it was nice and clean, and there was also a seating area right there. However, the room was a bit of a disappointment. The room was very warm, even though the AC was on but it was quite old so there wasn't enough air coming through to cool the room down. And because it was a very old AC, it made a lot of noise throughout the day and night, so we didn't actually get a good sleep during our visit. The facilities inside the room were standard. The bed and pillows were too soft for us. The bathroom sink had cracks, and it was a bit dirty behind the bathroom door. Overall, it was alright for a few nights stay.

Be wary of deluxe harbour view room. The view is lovely. The rooms are not deluxe. Not by a long way. We had one and my daughter another on floor 13. Both of use had same experience. Worn furniture and odd toilet. Our room had missing kickboards. A mini fridge that could barely open because it was sitting unevenly and also the door opened the opposite way to the cupboard it was housed in. Antique A/C. Our tv reception was intermittent and the remote missing. The bathroom has a floor to ceiling glass wall into the bedroom with the toilet right at the glass, and ( in room 1104 at least ) also a motion activated light in the bathroom that creates a silhouette of everything the person in there is doing. It is very poorly thought out - but made us laugh at least. The bar and staff are lovely and were open Good Friday when most places weee not.

Rydges in Wellington is very central to everything so it should have been a perfect spot but we found even on the top floor, we could hear the traffic. We had a nice view of the harbour but unfortunately filthy windows. We ended up cleaning them ourselves as the hotel staff weren't very helpful despite making commitments to have them cleaned. The rooms are a little challenging if you're not travelling alone. There's a frosted glass panel between the bed and the toilet which doesn't allow for much privacy at all. The shower was nice but there was only one hook for hanging a towel unless you wanted to use the rail over the toilet. Not a sanitary or desirable option. For a 5 star hotel, Rydges still has a way to go before I'd consider recommending it or staying there again.

We had just flown in on an overseas night flight, hadn't had any sleep and asked if it were possible yo grt an early check in. The duty manager was so rude and said " nobody gets a room until 3pm", We felt like we had been scalded! He should not be in hospitality! Would not come back to this hotel because of him.

Nice looking room, but it was let down majorly by a noisy old heater and staff that were patronising. When we couldn't get the heater to work we called reception. Their answers of "have you tried turning it on?" was just rude. Then they said they'd come have a look at it but didn't. 20mins later I went down to get someone. The very first thing the staff did was to use a pen to press the reset button on the remote, before explaining the difference between the heating cooling functions. So obviously this reset trick was a common occurrence so why not suggest it over the phone instead of making out that we are idiots who can't use it?? I wouldn't stay here again. I'd prefer any of the other hotels in Wellington with friendly helpful staff.

Thank you to house keeping for keeping our room sparkly clean. I was shocked to return to my room and find that it had been cleaned and beds made. Appreciate it. Also appreciate the staff member who checked us in. Very friendly & caring. Was really easy to check in and she made us feel welcome.

The afternoon staff was extremely unfriendly. When we checked in and realised there’s no bathtub I went down to ask for a room with a tub. The other staff said there was a few available but we will have to downgrade, so I asked if we could take a look at the room. The other unfriendly woman who’s in charge was notified, then she said there’s NO ROOM AVAILABLE. The other staff pointed at the screen to show her there is, but she just brushed it off. We have a baby and it’s easier for us to have a bathtub but the downgrade was a big deal so I wanted to check out the room. Rejected. I asked Expedia for early check out with the change in date as it was a refund available stay that was booked for 5 whole nights (we requested to check out after first night) They talked with Rydges and they approved to check us out after TWO NIGHTS with no penalty. So we hurriedly pack our bags and checked out at 10am. Then Expedia contacts them and now they says it’s NO REFUND. Then another Expedia staff talked with them and we got back just 2 nights worth of money back… So Rydges went from NO PENALTY to taking 3 nights of our stay and even claiming for no refund. Really terrible experience especially with this lady starting with R. I’ve stayed in so many hotels and this behaviour is unacceptable. Breakfast was great which was included in our stay so gave a star for that.The room was super dirty too, I had a lint roller with me since the baby crawls on the carpeted floor, was full of HAIR

To be honest we were a bit disappointed with our choice of hotel. Staff at check-in did not offer any assistance at all while we were juggling lack of parking, small children & a lot of luggage. In room dining options were extremely limited & the tray we left outside our room mid evening was still there the next morning. Check out staff showed no interest at all in how our stay had been- not really what we would expect from a hotel such as this.

We went down to Wellington to World of Wearable arts and stayed here at Rydges in Featherson Street. So perfectly located, easy walk to TSB arena, restaurants and the shopping district. Super comfy beds, big fluffy towels, and lovely staff. Highly recommend.

Restaurant let the stay down. No room service available except a toasted sandwich and lunch bar snacks frickles) were not great and the sauce was terrible. Room was quite noisy with road works noise, and was really cold when we arrived, heat pump was really loud and took a long time to heat the space. The reception staff were really great though!

It was clean and quiet. The lap pool was the right temperature and a pleasure to use for a morning swim. The restaurant Portlander downstairs was quite good. Service was excellent throughout the hotel.
