I booked a two-night stay at Banyan Tree Bangkok—the brand’s birthplace—with great anticipation, hoping for the serene sanctuary the name suggests. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but peaceful. Throughout my stay, the room was plagued by an unsettling, unidentifiable noise coming from the ceiling, compounded by the jarring sounds of hotel renovations starting early each morning. Instead of the 'sanctuary for the senses' I expected, I was met with constant anxiety and frustration. It is truly baffling that a landmark property of this caliber would subject its guests to such conditions. I must credit the manager, Paul, whose prompt and professional handling of the situation somewhat mitigated my anger. However, despite his best efforts, the fundamental quality of the stay was compromised. What should have been a highlight of my 6-day trip to Bangkok turned out to be a distressing ordeal. Extremely disappointed.
