We decided to finish our road trip and gig of bands I've never heard of, but the younger generation knew who they were, with three days in Cologne. We booked the Maratim Hotel due to the location and how it looked. The hotel was very clean and the staff very attentive. The hotel is in an excellent location. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, especially the varieties of delicious bread and the coffee. Housekeeping and reception staff were very good and hard working. However the WiFi was poor and dropped connection frequently. The gym and pool were disappointing, very small, and no staff present, towels have to be collected from reception who then told me I should have brought one from my room. Mixed changing room and showers which I found strange.

Sehr zentral gelegenes Hotel, überaus freundliches Personal und sehr sauber. Leider war während unseres Aufenthaltes immer 1 Aufzug defekt, was zu längeren Wartezeiten geführt hat. Bei einem Hotel dieser Größe sollten immer alle Aufzüge betriebsbereit sein und ggfs. auch schnell repariert werden.

If you are leaving on a river cruise this hotel is just across the road from where they leave. Very convenient in that way . Also close to the cathedral. The rooftop Restaurant was not open when we were there which was a shame as this is why I booked this hotel.

It felt quite dead . Looks beautiful from the outside but needs rooms updated . Breakfast at 30 euros too expensive. It put me off having a meal there. Pool was unmanned and there was a lot of surface water on floor . Very slippy . I was oncerned that if anyone slipped there was no one there for help . It could be a fantastic hotel as it has the wow factor from outside and in an ideal location .

Absolutely perfect location for karneval. Close to everything you need to have a good time. Great restaurants and bars nearby, transit is 30 seconds outside the hotel, can't ask for a better spot. And the rooms are HUGE for Europe. Our one issue was the room was extremely dusty and the pillows were basically non existent, but small price to pay for the location.

Þegar við komum var baðherbergið mjög skítugt, klósettið eins og það hefði verið pissað yfir það allt og gólfið klístrað. Gólfið í herberginu illa ryksugað þar sem hár af öðrum gestum var út um það allt. Tvær af þremur lyftum voru í gangi og þvi mikil bið. Gleymdi hleðslutæki í herberginu og það tók nokkur símtöl að ná í gegn og engin svör að fá í þvi símtali. Nýir verktakar að sjá um þrifin og það virtist vera þeirra svar við öllu.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal im Maritim und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Beeindruckende Lobby. Geräumiges Zimmer, schönes Bad. Alles tip top sauber. Die Einrichtung wirkt zwar nicht hypermodern, aber alles ist von hohem Komfort und in sehr gutem Zustand. Sehr zentral, direkt am Rhein, aber auch mitten in der Altstadt. Die hier häufigen geäußerten Aussagen wie „ in die Jahre gekommen“ können wir absolut nicht nachvollziehen. Unser Classic-Zimmer (359) hat total unseren Vorstellungen entsprochen, und zwar im positiven Sinn.

This hotel is located in a great area. You’re close to the river, train and bus stations as well as restaurants & shops. The rooms are a bit dated. They look like they haven’t been redecorated since the late 80s but I can get past that. The beds are super comfortable and so are the pillows. The rooms are spacious which is a rarity in Europe. The breakfast buffet is a nice variety of foods and the coffee is delicious.

The hotel has a perfect location and was very easy to reach from the train station. Everything is walkable, and we had a lovely view of the Dom from our room. The rooms were a good size, included a nice balcony, and the hotel felt very eco conscious. Check in could have been better. The staff member was not very helpful with local recommendations, and we were not told that booking breakfast at check in would have been 7€ less per person per day, which would save us 28€.

Great location and a 15 minute walk from Cologne Hbf. The hotel itself is great but two things that were not so great. Thinking the sink plug was stuck I called maintenance. Only to find out the plug release lever was hidden behind the tap!! The second issue was the rainwater shower. It came down with such force that it almost flooded the bathroom. The drainage couldn't keep up with the flow. The water actually overflowed into an area without any drainage at all.

The only plus I have is the location and convenience to the city center. The hotel itself was not worth it at all to me. Very dated, mid 80s stained carpet, bad furniture. The elevators are trash, we waited over ten minutes multiple times for it to get to us. The rooms themselves had no ventilation, so it was just a hot box with no AC. I would definitely it recommend this hotel.

Really nice hotel, great location, great breakfast. Unfortunately our room was extremely hot, and stayed like that the whole five days even as the weather cooled down. The air con wasn’t working and even though we reported it, it didn’t improve. A shame because everything else about the hotel was great!

Great location and convenient to food and shopping. Room is a little outdated, very few outlets and had to use an extension cord to charge devices. The bathroom had been updated and the shower is great! The hotel spa and pool are an added bonus! Restaurants and cafes inside the hotel were excellent. Would stay here again!

Central location making it very easy for a weekend away. The building looked impressive in the common areas, however the rooms were pretty average and quite dated. Breakfast was great, lots of options and even beer and sparkling wine available. Staff weren't great though and let the place down, always quite abrupt and not particularly friendly. No one at reception gave us any info on facilities, no one at breakfast advised on the options available for ordered items etc. I advised in advance the trip was for my husband's birthday and this wasn't acknowledged at all. Upon checking out I asked if I could fill my water bottle up at a tap or from a jug and they just said no, they said I could only use the tap in the toilets.

It's a city, so a little noisy, but very close to trains, the Köln cathedral, shopping, and food. We opted for the breakfast buffet both days and found it full of food options. Nice, friendly staff. I have always chosen the Maritim Hotel because I appreciate its atmosphere. Unfortunately, this time, I had a disappointing experience during check-in. I booked a room with two separate beds through Hotel.com and received a confirmation for it. However, upon checking in at the reception, the manager on duty was extremely impatient and treated us unfavorably. When I arrived at our room, I found that we had been assigned a king-size bed instead, which did not match my booking. I then returned to the reception and requested either a room with separate beds or at least an additional mattress. Unfortunately, my request was rudely denied by the manager. Later, we spoke with a housekeeping staff member who informed us that the bed could easily be separated into two single beds. The staff member was very kind and helpful, which we greatly appreciated. This made it even more difficult for me to understand why a manager at such a prestigious hotel like the Maritim treated us so uncooperatively. I hope you will look into this matter and ensure that such experiences do not happen in the future.

Das Hotel und die Lage ist sehr gut. Personal dagegen fand ich schrecklich. Am Empfang erst mal sehr lange warten und dann von der Mitarbeiterin an der Rezeption angemacht zu werden war nicht schön. Ich wollte meine Unterkunft in meinem Maritim Bonus eintragen und erhielt die Antwort, dass es nachträglich nicht möglich ist. Angekommen auf dem Zimmer stellte ich fest, dass ein Badetuch gefehlt hat und Zimmerservice war vor der Tür. Ich bat Ihm mir ein Handtuch zu geben und seine Antwort war, dass ich doch vom 6. Stock zur Rezeption gehen soll und dort nach einem Badetuch fragen soll obwohl er in seinem Wagen mehr als genügend hatte. Hotel und die Lage finde ich ok aber über das Personal sollte man sich schon gedanken machen.

Hotel is very conveniently located on the River Rhine in downtown Cologne city center, just 5 min walking distance from the Oldtown. The tram connecting to the major public transport hub (Neumarkt) leaves immediately in front of the hotel (3 min to Neumarkt). Cologne Cathedral, Chocolate Museum, Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Museum Ludwig, the Philharmonic Hall are all walking distance. Lanxess Arena is 5 min by tram. Cologne Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station ) is 20 min walking distance away. The hotel is nice and the stuff is friendly. Rooms are quiet, clean, and spacious. The breakfast buffet is highly recommended. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times, and I will be happy to return.

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of everything. Lots to do right outside the front door and there is a train stop right outside. The views are excellent and it is directly on the Rhine. Will definitely be back.

I was sorely disappointed in how the room was assigned/handled. I paid for an upgraded room, and the room was far from upgraded. I was in a room facing a glass and concrete impediment. Don’t pay the upgraded rate just take a standard room. The hotel says it’s renovated but the bed and much of the room is dated. The breakfast buffet was a mess. There were too many people at one time. The food wasn’t replenished quickly. And the food was slopped around the serving bowls and platters. The positive part of the experience was the location to the Christmas markets.

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt und wenn es nicht ein Hotel mit einem hohen Anspruch wäre, würde ich über die kleinen Schwächen gar nicht reden. Aber in einem Maritim-Hotel erwartet man eben auch etwas mehr. Das Personal ist sehr nett und freundlich, aber nicht immer kompetent. Vor allem beim Frühstück sollte man erwarten, dass die Frage, ob in den Brötchen Milchbestandteile enthalten sind, nicht mit "Da habe ich keine Ahnung" beantwortet wird. Ggf. sollte man zumindest wissen, wen man fragen kann... Insgesamt war das Frühstücksbuffet nur durchschnittlich. Allergene stehen nur teilweise dran und wenn, dann in einer winzigen Schrift, der Saft ist lediglich ein Nektar, das Obst ist nur teilweise frisch, viel kommt aus Dosen, Öfter wurden fehlende Speisen nur sproadisch oder erst auf Nachfrage wieder aufgefüllt. Meine Tochter wollte sich ein Spiegelei bestellen und erhielt die Abfuhr, dass Bestellungen vom Tisch aus zu erfolgen hätten - nur leider war es nicht möglich, am Tisch jemanden zu finden, der die Bestellung aufgenommen hätte, am Tisch entsteht einiges an Abfall (Plastikverpackung, Schalen etc.), aber es gibt keinen Abfallbehälter). Alles andere war bis auf Kleinigkeiten in Ordnung. Fazit: ein sehr gutes, aber nicht herausragendes Hotel.
