Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection

The Mount Royal Hotel in Edinburgh was a very nice hotel. Central to old town, new town, buses, trains, hollyrood, etc. The room ans common areas were extremely clean and the staff polite. The bar and restaurant were fantastic- good drinks and great breakfast buffet. Home made butter was delicious. Only issues were coffee machines-2- where one was not working and the other brew your own in 1-2 min was backed up occasionally with the breakfast crowd. BIGGEST CONCERN was the location for drop off and pickup- street in front was RESERVED only for buses and trains. Very confusing as you had to figure it out on your own - lots of driving in circles and finally drop off a block or two away in StAndrews square and lug suitcases to hotel. That should be mention - e.g., no direct drop off at hotel due to reserved street; need to park a couple blocks away! Overall, good experience.

What a delight this hotel was. Super central, the nicest employees, we had a wonderful time

It was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We paid more than £200 for a night, and did expect the 4 star experience it was sold as. But we got a room the size of a shoe box, overlooking a dirty back alley, and could “enjoy” the massive noise from a ventilator all night. And the service at the restaurant was not at all what you would expect at a 4 star hotel. Our dinner had to go back twice. So all in all: we cannot recommend this 1 star hotel in Edinburgh 👎

Centrally located across from the Scott monument. Close to the airport tram and train. Convenient to both Old Town and New Town.
