Had evening meal and paid extra for full English breakfast. Both were great value for money and well presented. Hotel room had everything needed and we enjoyed a quiet, comfortable night. Staff lovely, helpful and courteous. Wanted to please their guests. Check in was self service but a little difficult due to us having booked though a booking site. Receptionist had to sort out the difficulties. Would prefer a smooth person led check in.Hotel tired in places update in decor needed in public areas but overall good stay and we would return.

Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing at check-in, so my stay didn’t start well. They are all quite young without much experience in my opinion. The hotel overall whilst it looked as though it had been recently decorated in the reception, restaurant and bar area, it was a very poor finish. I paid for a superior double room which was on the 2nd floor, and there are no lifts which isn’t good news if you have heavy luggage. Whilst the reception staff did offer help with my suitcase & bag, anyone who has mobility issues would find 4 staircases challenging to get to the 2nd floor. The superior room was nothing short of a very basic standard room. The bathroom needed a good clean, and the toilet definitely needed a good bleaching. The plugs for the sink and bath were detached from their chains, and the bath looked dirty, with the anti slip pads grey in colour where they have been there for years. The carpets in the room were worn and stained. There was no telephone as advertised on the website, so that needs updating, as does the hotel. Unfortunately, I booked another non-refundable stay later this year at the same time as my stay last weekend. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Had I not already paid, I would be looking to stay elsewhere.

I didn’t like the self checkin when we arrived!! We had a very long journey & we were tired & found the self checkin stressful!!? The receptionist was very helpful but she could have done it herself much quicker! Then I wasn’t happy that they wanted card details scanned’ incase of breakages or extras!’ We had already paid for room & breakfast! The staff are hospitable friendly and very helpful. The food are a lot better than before. The only down side is there’s no lift but everything else was great.

Lovely hotel and staff. I spent a few nights in a double room. It was clean, quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. The bar is handy for a Sunday afternoon with a great out door seating area. Breakfast was great too. Lovely and friendly staff. Good all round.

I stayed two nights while visiting family and friends. Great value and included breakfast. The breakfast was buffet styles with full english as well as toast, pastries, yogurt etc. Fruit juice and hot drinks. The hot breakfast was overall good with quality bacon, hash browns, eggs, beans and sausages. However the sausages were very cheap and had no taste, avoid them. Everything else was outstanding. The staff go above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. There is a nice lounge with comfy chairs and open fire. Rooms are very clean with comfy beds, there are some signs that a bit of redecoration will be needed before long but don’t let you put you off. Nothing broken anywhere. Plenty of free monitored parking. I will be using this hotel again when I have my regular trips to the area. Much better than the usual travel inn places. Forgot to mention the restaurant and bar is open each evening as well.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Good use of technology to check in. Free car park upon registration. Very clean bedroom with all basic facilities - heating readily adjustable. Staff were extremely helpful and supplied us with iPhone charger (forgotten). We had dinner at the hotel. Pub style food menu at a very competitive price. Downstairs premises decorated with taste throughout. Great choice for breakfast.

Great stay, super friendly staff. Food is fabulous, bar area is nice. Our standard room was on the small side and in need of modernisation, however I understand times are hard and this is costly and there is alot of competition out there. Still would return here though. Would recommend.

Check in was a self check in system which was easy and reception was present if any help was needed. Room was clean and spacious Food was good with plenty of choice Plenty of parking Only downfall was there is no aircon but a fan was available in the room, only an issue as it was in 30 at time of stay.

The hotel is in need of a massive update, very dated rooms with creaky floors. Our room was a decent size and could be really nice if it was given an update. The bathroom was clean but again everything felt quite old, except the towels, which were clean and looked new. The bathroom had a smell of drains too and the shower wasn’t the most powerful. The room had a huge bed with clean bedding, but there’s zero air-con in the rooms, there was a fan provided but it didn’t do the same job as air-con does. Carpets in the communal areas needed a good clean as they had muddy footprints. Staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. Check in was a bit chaotic and they tell you to use the self service but then someone has to come and help anyway, so wasn’t sure what the point was in that. We only stayed for one night and we didn’t spend much time in the room but the small amount of time was more than enough and I wouldn’t return in a hurry. For anyone needing to get ready there the rooms feel quite dark so wouldn’t recommend it. Could be a decent hotel but would say below average at present.

Disappointing - photos on web site lie !! Booked a superior room - that was a joke - if you wanted your room cleaned it was an extra £25 per night !! However you could have clean towels from reception at no extra cost 😂. The restaurant was grim and the food below par / it’s definitely a tradespersons hotel by the amount of white cans in the car park . Our room was very dark, the bathroom needed a deep clean ! You needed to put the shower in for 29 mins before you needed it to get hot water - definitely not staying here again - but the staff were friendly so one positive !

Roommates and grubby, stains on walls, fro example by bin where tea bags have been thrown in and it has splashed on wall. Obviously been there for a while as there were lots of marks. Stains visible on walls in multiple other places. Main hallway carpets worn, ripped and had extensive old stains. Not a small amount but common. Breakfast was like warm and on one day bacon was totally cold, not safe to eat. Every morning the coffee jug was empty. Staff polite and nice always.

Booked into the hotel, was a bit of a fuss, having to book yourself in and create your own keycard, long winded The rooms were vile, never seen anything like it in all my years of staying in hotels. My room had carpet tiles laid (not stuck down properly) on underlay. A total trip hazard and not at all safe. Black mould on tiling in the bathroom, and shower head had never seen Viakal. Was shown another room, a disabled access room, a bed and a TV but no bed side units. The customer support at the desk was awful, we decided not to stay there after looking at the state of the place based on a overall opinion. Hotel offered no refund or even a partial refund, was quite happy to keep all my money. I was staying here with a friend who also had the same experience :-(

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. The room was absolutely filthy — dust everywhere, mould in the bathroom, and even spiders and webs around the windows inside the room. Everything felt neglected and unclean. On top of that, there was a strange, unpleasant smell in the room that made it hard to relax. Definitely not worth the money and I would not recommend staying here.

We only stayed for one night and we didn’t spend much time in the room but the small amount of time was more than enough and I wouldn’t return in a hurry. For anyone needing to get ready there the rooms feel quite dark so wouldn’t recommend it. Could be a decent hotel but would say below average at present.
The hotel is in need of a massive update, very dated rooms with creaky floors. Our room was a decent size and could be really nice if it was given an update. The bathroom was clean but again everything felt quite old, except the towels, which were clean and looked new. The bathroom had a smell of drains too and the shower wasn’t the most powerful. The room had a huge bed with clean bedding, but there’s zero air-con in the rooms, there was a fan provided but it didn’t do the same job as air-con does. Carpets in the communal areas needed a good clean as they had muddy footprints. Staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival. Check in was a bit chaotic and they tell you to use the self service but then someone has to come and help anyway, so wasn’t sure what the point was in that. The Staff were polite and very helpful , the Hotel was nice and clean but the rooms were very small and lacked some items such as a bedside table and a full length mirror also the toilet was to near the towel rail .

Not the best but has potential.

Room was clean and spacious Food was good with plenty of choice Plenty of parking Only downfall was there is no aircon but a fan was available in the room, only an issue as it was in 30 at time of stay.

Staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing at check-in, so my stay didn’t start well. They are all quite young without much experience in my opinion. The hotel overall whilst it looked as though it had been recently decorated in the reception, restaurant and bar area, it was a very poor finish. I paid for a superior double room which was on the 2nd floor, and there are no lifts which isn’t good news if you have heavy luggage. Whilst the reception staff did offer help with my suitcase & bag, anyone who has mobility issues would find 4 staircases challenging to get to the 2nd floor. The superior room was nothing short of a very basic standard room. The bathroom needed a good clean, and the toilet definitely needed a good bleaching. The plugs for the sink and bath were detached from their chains, and the bath looked dirty, with the anti slip pads grey in colour where they have been there for years. The carpets in the room were worn and stained. There was no telephone as advertised on the website, so that needs updating, as does the hotel. Unfortunately, I booked another non-refundable stay later this year at the same time as my stay last weekend. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Had I not already paid, I would be looking to stay elsewhere.

Roommates and grubby, stains on walls, fro example by bin where tea bags have been thrown in and it has splashed on wall. Obviously been there for a while as there were lots of marks. Stains visible on walls in multiple other places. Main hallway carpets worn, ripped and had extensive old stains. Not a small amount but common. Breakfast was like warm and on one day bacon was totally cold, not safe to eat. Every morning the coffee jug was empty. Staff polite and nice always.

The check-in process is abysmal and the staff seem to find it too much trouble to check whether guests have already checked-in/paid.The evening menu misrepresents what is actually served to paying guests. We could not eat what was served to us and ended up walking out. So very poor!

Booked into the hotel, was a bit of a fuss, having to book yourself in and create your own keycard, long winded The rooms were vile, never seen anything like it in all my years of staying in hotels. My room had carpet tiles laid (not stuck down properly) on underlay. A total trip hazard and not at all safe. Black mould on tiling in the bathroom, and shower head had never seen Viakal. Was shown another room, a disabled access room, a bed and a TV but no bed side units. The customer support at the desk was awful, we decided not to stay there after looking at the state of the place based on a overall opinion. Hotel offered no refund or even a partial refund, was quite happy to keep all my money. I was staying here with a friend who also had the same experience :-(

Staff were extremely helpful and supplied us with iPhone charger (forgotten). We had dinner at the hotel. Pub style food menu at a very competitive price. Downstairs premises decorated with taste throughout. Great choice for breakfast.

This place was perfect for a quick trip for a wedding. Good location, staff were so helpful and beautiful exterior for the building. One thing I will say is the corridors and rooms were a bit dated and need a revamp, however was really clean.

Very friendly staff who clearly work hard to ensure guests have a great stay. We stayed for several nights as working nearby. Breakfast was excellent. Evening meal selections not huge but we enjoyed what we had when we did eat in. Dated rooms but clean and comfortable. Recommended

Lovely hotel and staff. I spent a few nights in a double room. It was clean, quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. The bar is handy for a Sunday afternoon with a great out door seating area. Breakfast was great too. Lovely and friendly staff. Good all round.

Clean warm and breakfast included was nice. To be clear to anyone staying expedia need to remove swimming pool from the list of facilities as there is no pool, there is a leisure center in the area. All the staff were friendly and helpful but they did have a food delivery issue so some options were not available. It was a bit confusing if we could eat in our room or not but eventually we just ate in the bar. Overall for the good price it has all the things you need, i think expedia needs to make it clearer about the pet friendly rooms.

Would say the staff were friendly. Room could have been cleaner, not to say it was bad. The shower was either on the quite warm side or very hot, couldn't get it to run cool. As it was a one night stop over it wasn't too bad. For a longer stay would want a properly functioning shower.

The first room was dreadful. Torn curtains, hole in carpet, furniture tatty and shower was useless. Two pillows on a double bed that were very flat. Due to a 5.5 hour drive, being extremely tired and it being very late in evening, we stayed one night. When I asked for another room for our 2nd night, the lady was very helpful and moved us to a suite. Much nicer but very dated, water pressure very poor and shower was not much better in this room

The front of the outside looked nice had character. I didnt eat but breakfast smelt nice in the reception area. Issues: was originally in 217 and had no hot water from the shower only cold. Carpet needed a hoover and the decor was very old fashioned (not deliberately). Asked to be moved and was changed to room 7. Carpet again needed hoovering and looked hairy in patches. Bathroom needed TLC. Finish on plastering was inconsistent Overall an ok experience, if you want a cheap hotel (which is what i was looking for) then its fine. But dont expect too much. Priced accordingly but I still thought things like the hot water shouldnt be an issue. Staff very friendly and tried to help when I asked to move rooms.
