I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. I was checked in three hours early and was upgraded to a large suite. It was clean, convenient for getting off the cruise ship and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!

The room seemed clean. Our room had a REALLY terrible smell. I’m not sure if it was a dead mouse or what but it was pretty bad. Seems like the housekeepers would have noticed it before checking someone into the room. I’m not sure if we got unlucky or if all rooms have a terrible smell. We only slept & shower here. Staff seemed nice. Check in & out was really smooth. Elevators were very small.

The rooms are nearly brand new and are very clean. The staff is pleasant. The only problem we had with the room was the shower drain backed up, filling the shower with water. We were offered a room change to resolve. The hotel is right near the ocean, downtown which makes everything walkable, but if you bring a car there is little parking and traffic is very very heavy. Almost every car is a manual transmission, so if you rent a car and aren't comfortable driving a stick shift, you may struggle to navigate the streets. They do offer off-site parking for about $35 USD, but it is several blocks up the road and you can only enter from one side of the street. Some people have complained about noise. We could hear karaoke and Street traffic, but it wasn't horribly loud and we were able to sleep just fine. If you taxi in and don't plan to park or drive, this is an ideal location. If you are driving and are adventurous, you'll be just fine. But if you want to drive and aren't comfortable navigating a busy city, you may want to stay in a more rural area. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel as there are dining options nearby that offer a greater variety for a better price, but they do offer a breakfast if you are looking for that, I believe for about $35 USD per person.

Location was super convenient as you could walk to the ferry from the hotel. Staff was friendly and it's very walkable to all of the stores and restaurants in the downtown area. They even let us store our luggage there after we stayed and we're returning from Moorea. Super helpful and would definitely stay there again when we next visit Tahiti!

Cet établissement a bénéficié d'un cache misère au niveau de la façade, ça parait moderne mais ça cache un vieux bâtiment mal rénové. Fenêtres simple vitrage, coté avenue c'est très bruyant, les fenêtres ne ferment pas complètement on entend très bien la circulation! Je n'ai pas pris le petit déjeuner, il est très cher et très peu fourni, il faut soit l'améliorer, soit diviser son prix par 3, ça ne vaut pas plus. Hébergement très cher pour ce que c'est. Stationnement payant, pas moyen de trouver de stationnement gratuit la journée, seulement de 18h à 8h du matin dans les rues autour. Quartier bruyant, on ne se sent pas très en sécurité la nuit dans les alentours.

We stayed here one night. It is right across the street from the cruise dock. It is in a very convenient location. The standard room was extremely small. There was no place to put luggage and there was no luggage rack. We had to put our luggage under a built in desk. Very few accessible electrical outlets. One plus was a washer and dryer that was free and if you didn't bring detergent you could purchase it at the front desk. I have to add I couldn't figure out how to run the washing machine and needed help from a hotel employee.

Convenient location to the commercial centre, visitors bureau, restaurants, and we can walk to the cruise port. Hot water and water pressure in the shower a bit iffy. Difficult to control the temp. In room air conditioning is great. Feel very safe and secure.

Our second time staying. Staff was great! Very friendly and competent. Room was very clean and comfortable. Shower both stays in both rooms was completely unusable - no water pressure, and constantly oscillated from freezing to boiling. Won't be staying here again, which is a shame because everything else was great.

Conveniently located to the Pier which was great for us coming off a cruise. Great places to eat near by. The staff was very friendly and graciously agreed to keep our luggage at the hotel for the entire day while we did a bus tour of the city and surrounding area. The hotel looks modern and the rooms are very nice, We had two issues with this hotel that is impacting our rating. 1. Our room was facing a bar and it was extremely noisy until about 12:00am. I’m sure we could have gotten another room if we asked, but by the time we got back to our hotel room after dinner we were too tired to even consider moving to another room. Anyone going to this hotel with similar time constraints might want to ask for a room on the other side of the hotel away from the bar. Our second issue was that a very big cockroach entered our room. After I killed it I called the front desk to ask for support. We were concerned that we may have to deal with this issue all night. The person at the front desk said that they would come upstairs to take a look and they never came.

Room was very clean. We stayed in 412 , it was quiet. Enjoyed the nice shower. Its a 5 minute walk to Ocean cruise terminal. Good mini fridge and easy to operate safe. Several restaurants very close, however, better and somewhat more relaxing selection near Burger King & McDonald's.

Lovely hotel. Rooms are cozy, but clearly recently remodeled. AC works great. Walking distance to cruise port terminal. Literally two blocks door-to-door! Note: If you have a CPAP bring an extension cord. Outlets are few and far between!

The staff at the Mai Tai Express Hotel were very friendly and accommodating. They quickly called taxis for us when needed, and had a luggage storage room. The room is not large, but is adequate in size with a generous bathroom and nice shower. There was a room safe, electric teapot and refrigerator. The breakfast was expensive for what it is, and there are many close by options for less than the $32 a person. The bed was VERY comfortable and the room was very quiet. The location was excellent being in walking distance of the cruise terminal, shopping mall, and good restaurants and coffee shops. We stayed there before and after our cruise, and would stay there again.

Beautiful boutique hotel in downtown Pape’ete. Perhaps the best one there. I stayed in the one bedroom suite at the harbor end of my floor, which had a balcony off the front sitting area. I slept on the sofa and noticed that traffic noise started building by 4:30 am. The bedroom was removed from the noise, so likely no one else will be bothered by it.

Small rooms, but very efficient and clean. Very nice staff who took care of scheduling our taxi for the early trip to the airport. Convenient location, but a bit noisy. There is a rooftop bar a block away and you can hear the partying till the early morning hours. Probably not a problem if you are on the other side of the hotel.

Service was exceptional- especially liked that there was no charge for them to store your luggage and they recommended a great local breakfast restaurant if you didn’t pay for their limited continental. (Cafe Roti). Can beat the location if accessing the cruise terminal.

Reception staff were extremely welcoming and very friendly. Even when checking-in in the early hours of the morning. The room was very comfortable & it was great you had the option of opening the window. Very convenient location & as a solo traveler I felt really comfortable.

Clean room and comfy beds. I left my phone in the taxi with my credit card on the back and the staff member went the extra mile and was able to track the taxi down and get it returned. Will definitely be back. A+++++

Vehmia is customer service rep whose attitude is poor. She is and was not helpful and on the second day we were locked out of our room, she showed very little concern while helping us. I trekked backed and forth three times trying to open the door and she finally sent maintenance to open. No apologies or anything to demonstrate their concern for the problem at their facility. Location of hotel is ideal however staff lacks what it takes to ensure best customer services.

Vehmia is customer service rep whose attitude is poor. She is and was not helpful and on the second day we were locked out of our room, she showed very little concern while helping us. I trekked backed and forth three times trying to open the door and she finally sent maintenance to open. No apologies or anything to demonstrate their concern for the problem at their facility. Location of hotel is ideal however staff lacks what it takes to ensure best customer services.

When we first arrived we were downgraded from our suite to a standard room due to technical difficulties/leak in the room. We were very upset as they seemed to assign the room in advance and rather than giving us another suite they downgraded. After speaking with the manager who seemed somewhat indifferent at first finally came around and compensated us the difference of what we had paid and what the standard room was at the time of booking. They rectified the situation in the end but not without hesitation. We were happy they tried to fix the situation more fairly.

Our stay at the Maitai Express Tahiti was great. The staff were some of the friendliest and helpful of any hotel staff I've ever experienced. The room was clean and comfortable. If we ever make it way back to Tahiti, we would definitely stay at the Maitai Express Tahiti again.

Amazing location! We landed, took a taxi to this hotel with others and paid $13, went to the hotel. Next day, we walked to the ferry dock (literally less than a 5 minute walk), and went to Moorea! Best location.

Property is right across the street from the cruise terminal and ferries. Easy to walk to stores with 2 restaurants right next door. Convenient location for a short stay. Hotel is new though on the main street so you can hear the traffic from your room inside.

Room was very clean. We stayed in 412 , it was quiet. Enjoyed the nice shower. Its a 5 minute walk to Ocean cruise terminal. Good mini fridge and easy to operate safe. Several restaurants very close, however, better and somewhat more relaxing selection near Burger King & McDonald's.

Stayed there for one night prior to boarding a cruise ship which was a short walk away. room was very basic but perfect for one night. The bed was comfortable; and the room had been updated and included a modern shower. A small continental breakfast cost extra but was worth the convenience. All this plus a very friendly staff made our stay perfect

Service was exceptional- especially liked that there was no charge for them to store your luggage and they recommended a great local breakfast restaurant if you didn’t pay for their limited continental. (Cafe Roti). Can beat the location if accessing the cruise terminal.

The staff at the Mai Tai Express Hotel were very friendly and accommodating. They quickly called taxis for us when needed, and had a luggage storage room. The room is not large, but is adequate in size with a generous bathroom and nice shower. There was a room safe, electric teapot and refrigerator. The breakfast was expensive for what it is, and there are many close by options for less than the $32 a person. The bed was VERY comfortable and the room was very quiet. The location was excellent being in walking distance of the cruise terminal, shopping mall, and good restaurants and coffee shops. We stayed there before and after our cruise, and would stay there again.

Great location near the seaport and local market. Very friendly staff who accommodated an early check in and smile warmly every time we see them. Breakfast options were wonderful as I love plain real yogurt and it was plentiful here. The bed was exceptionally comfortable with high quality linens. Lovely hotel.

The good: great location for cruise ships; great bed. The not good: expensive breakfast that wasn’t worth it and was double the price of better breakfasts nearby. Noisy-many bars with live bands around the hotel: shower did not have hot water: one tube of coffee for two people for three days.

The room was compact but clean and well organised. Shame that the view was obscured by metal decoration over the window. Hotel - Very small lounge area, meagre breakfasts. No other food. This is not a hotel to linger in. Friendly helpful staff. Great central location close to the esplanade. Potential for noise from local bars beneath. This hotel is ideal if you are embarking or disembarking a cruise ship and that is what we used it for after a disembarkation. It is a 10 minute walk from the pier and easy to find. We had a larger room at the back of the hotel (401) and it cost us £880 for 3 nights with no breakfast. This was a lot of money, but we booked at 3 days notice so we could escape the ship, which was terrible. The room was generally OK with a decent bed, shower, coffee maker, safe, aircon, towels, and 2 TV’s, but the room had some issues, however, nothing worth complaining about. There was a lot of street noise, not helped by the fact that the windows didn’t shut properly because of the retro fitted anti suicide latch that held them open. The toilet was very high. I’m 5ft8” and my legs swung when seated. I noticed quite a bit of black hair hiding in the corners of the room and the wooden floor made your feet black. It needed a wash. There was an odd smell in the bedroom, not the bathroom or lounge? There was an air freshener, but it was loud and woke us the first night and I removed the batteries. Hot water took an eternity to come out of the shower and there was no plug for the basin, making a wet shave difficult. USBs next to the bed would have been a nice touch, but they didn’t work. Staff were fantastic and helped us with a taxi and directions to an ATM and bars. All in all OK, you are not going to find much else at this price point in Papeete.
