Beautiful property with amazing customer service from all areas of the team. The shuttle is a nice service to get you to city square center and it's easy to book from you room. Food was good for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a small selection of baked goods, cereal and few items on a hot bar. Pool was not the cleanest and very cold- but perhaps that's on par for a may stay.

Our experience was very nice here. The property in some places is showing its age but we stayed in a newly renovated room( although many are not remodeled yet). The shuttle service was very consistent and convenient and their private beach club is what makes this hotel special, although the elevator down to the beach didn't work well and we had to walk back up the many stairs back up to road level. Food was decent. Pool is older and not super clean but you have the beach. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Amalfi town is beautiful, historic but a bit chaotic and crowded. The Grand Excelsior is a peaceful respite well above the town built into the cliffs. The hotel has the best views in all of the Amalfi Coast. The architecture and decor are very charming and almost a time capsule for 1950's Mediterranean elegance. We loved the friendly staff and the restaurant and bar were very good and all we needed. The highlight for us was the private elevator built into the cliffs taking you down to the private beach. Amazing.

GHE blew our expectations away, this hotel is breathtaking as soon as you step foot through the front doors. You can see it right from amalfi port & center. It is right up in the mountains making the views gorgina and far enough away that it’s quiet and relaxing away from the hustle & bustle of amalfi center. Has a free shuttle from morning til 10:45pm that is a lifesaver. Also has access to a free private beach that is 10x better than any free public one, beach also has an on-site bar and food menu that’s charged to your room making it even more convenient. The pool is something like i’ve never seen before with views of the amalfi coast/ocean. Hotel restaurant food & drinks are so good that you will not be missing out if you dine In as opposed to visiting an amalfi center restaurant. Their lemon cake is to die for!! Will be coming back!!!

The hotel had an amazing view . The pool closed earlier than what was advertised which was disappointing . The breakfast was amazing , the bar staff was exceptional . The room was spacious . The shuttle was easy to book and needed to get to town .

This is a beautiful hotel. The views from the room and the hotel, in general, are stunning. Everyone from the front desk people, to the wait staff, the housekeepers, and the shuttle drivers were all extremely, nice, helpful, and professional. The hotel pool, and the views from the pool, are also amazing.

The resort was beautiful and the views were even better. Our room was spacious with a wonderful balcony that overlooked the town and the sea. Food was very good. The staff and drivers were wonderful, very convenient to have a shuttle back and forth to the city center and private beach! The private beach was lovely and very relaxing and had food and drinks served daily, was one of our favorite things about the resort. We definitely would come back here again.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the beginning of September 2024. We wish we would’ve stayed an extra couple days. The hotel is very nice with a mid century modern vibe. We really enjoyed the pool area and our room had a nice balcony view overlooking the sea. This hotel has a free shuttle that will take you to downtown Amalfi and also to their private swimming beach. Be aware that if you stay at other hotels in the area, the taxi rides to the center of town are very expensive. The free shuttle was a godsend. The front desk staff greeted us warmly and showed us to our room. When we had an issue with our bill at checkout, the staff quickly rectified the issue. The daily breakfast on the veranda overlooking the sea was a great way to start your day.

Our first time staying in Amalfi and I don’t think we’ll be able to stay anyway else! The views are incredible and the service is even better than that. As soon as you walk in you’re very well taken care of. The restaurant has great food and the bar is fully loaded. The pool shares the amazing views and very unique. The gym was perfect for what we needed also. Views from the bed made it hard to get out of it every morning. We will 100% be back.

The transportation and shuttle option is awesome for this hotel however it is not the cleanest. They also control the AC although you have the thermostat in the room the temperature won’t drop to what you put it to. When you leave the room you have to take the card out and the electricity shuts off ( AC shuts off ) so you come back to a pretty hot room.

The hotel is literally on a hillside, with an amazing sea view. Even though it's a short distance from the Amalfi city center, you feel very remote. This is due to the winding streets to get to and from the hotel. You would not want to walk very far from the hotel based on the narrow street and extreme elevation changes. That being said, we didn't leave the hotel for 2 days and were perfectly content. Our aim for this visit was to relax, and we were able to do that. Food on site was exceptional - not only in quality, but in presentation. Most of the staff was attentive and friendly, but not all. We enjoyed many lunches and dinners, but the breakfasts really stood out. The housekeeping staff was second to none. Very thorough, always busy, and friendly when engaged. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hôtel très bien situé avec une vue exceptionnelle sur la ville D’Amalfi et sur la côte, la chambre était bien mais nous avons trouvé des fourmis dans les lits, le déjeuner compris avec la chambre était très bien, service de navette fonctionne très bien, l’hôtel en général est très propre excellent séjour

We loved staying at the excelsior the it had an amazing view and rooms were huge and very clean and felt at home. The shuttle service was fantastic as if you like walking the Aldi Center is about 30min walk down steps… Maurizio and Antonio the drivers were so friendly and can’t thank them enough! Beautiful hotel that has amazing views of Amalfi. Our room was spacious and clean with a wonderful sea view. Staff were exceptional and accommodating. It is a distance from the town of Amalfi, but the hotel provides a courtesy shuttle bus which runs every 20 or so minutes which you just book online. I would definitely stay again!

Emplacement incroyable pour la vue et leur service de navette qui vous amène directement au centre cependant ie suggère de prendre des chambres supérieur autrement vous aller trouvez que c’est du pour être mis à jour , cependant nous avions une très grande Terasse vue sur la mer! Outre le fait que nous avons pas aimer notre chambre l’hôtel en sois est bien !

We had high hopes for this hotel, but were ultimately quite disappointed and actually ended up checking out a night early. The rooms were dated and the wifi was extremely spotty. Most of the time we could not connect to the wifi in our room. The bed was one of the hardest and most uncomfortable hotel beds I have ever experienced. The shower head was directed at your stomach, and the previous showerhead that no longer works was still there. Something was wrong with the drain, and we often were standing in the backed up shower water while we showered. Our room had a paper thin divider door to the room next to us and we could quite literally hear every word that they were saying. The hotel itself is quite difficult to get to and from, but thankfully they have an efficient and convenient shuttle service into Amalfi. The hotel itself is dated but pleasant enough. Breakfast selection was average. We had dinner one night at the hotel and it was okay. The pool was nice, but it is only open from 9:00 am-6:00 pm in the summer. We checked into the hotel at 5:40 pm, and when I asked if we could go to the pool, we were told no because it had been cleaned and closes at 6:00 pm. The keys were large and heavy pieces of brass. There was a spot to hang your key in the lobby, however, they were not secured and not always monitored by staff. We paid approx. $500 CAD per night. This hotel is not worth that price.

The room we had was amazing. They just redid the floor we were on and it was just beautiful! The pool was great, the staff were awesome and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have ever had! They had a complimentary shuttle service that was great and always on time, since there is virtually no way to walk to the city center we were so high up. It was very peaceful and lovely. The room we had was amazing. They just redid the floor we were on and it was just beautiful! The pool was great, the staff were awesome and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have ever had! They had a complimentary shuttle service that was great and always on time, since there is virtually no way to walk to the city center we were so high up. It was very peaceful and lovely. Would definitely go back!

The view is spectacular! The rooms are older but the staff makes up for any shortcomings in that regard. The shuttle that takes you from town and back runs regularly and is a must! The staff helped us with some logistical planning and were always nice and helpful. The breakfast is full of variety and quality offerings.

The views from the Sky Deluxe room were amazing and we loved the large tub that also had a view from it. The shuttle was awesome to use as taxis were charging a lot in the area.

Best view and the patio was great. Having said that….decor needs updated including furnishings in room (shelf or table in bathroom for example). No plugs near bed, and the lights on nightstands had a short and didn’t seem safe. Tablet a good concept but not practical. Had to use tablet for tv but if you put tablet on the table at night after turning off tv, it is dead in the morning and you can’t turn on tv. No coffee pot in room. Shuttle scheduling didn’t work and not enough availability, shuttle was always full. Fantastic views but be aware, no access to city except the shuttle. Listing says 2 restaurants, but actually only one which you can order from restaurant or bar area. If you don’t like menu, no other options.

We recently stayed for the 8 days during our honeymoon and this was a perfect stay! We loved the hotel and the shuttle was great for getting to and from the city centre and private beach club. The drivers were so great and fun! Breakfast was fresh and delicious everyday and the view every morning was beautiful! The beach club was a really nice perk and it was great to be able to visit, service was awesome and they make a great Aperol Spritz! The room was clean and again, the view was just beautiful and we loved our stay. We didn’t want to leave! Rebecca the front desk attendant for most of our stay had great recommendations for dinner in the Amalfi centre and was so helpful during our first night with a great dinner recommendation and helped set up a ride for us as we had such a long travel day. Overall an absolutely beautiful hotel and stay, further up from the city centre but worth it for the view!

Our experience was very nice here. The property in some places is showing its age but we stayed in a newly renovated room( although many are not remodeled yet). The shuttle service was very consistent and convenient and their private beach club is what makes this hotel special, although the elevator down to the beach didn't work well and we had to walk back up the many stairs back up to road level. Food was decent. Pool is older and not super clean but you have the beach. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Excellent hotel - rooms on the 5th floor are newly renovated and modern. Views are spectacular at every vantage point. Great breakfast with many options and fresh squeezed juice. Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Love the free shuttle to Amalfi city centre running every 20 mins until 11pm. Would highly recommend.

This is a beautiful hotel. The views from the room and the hotel, in general, are stunning. Everyone from the front desk people, to the wait staff, the housekeepers, and the shuttle drivers were all extremely, nice, helpful, and professional. The hotel pool, and the views from the pool, are also amazing.

Property is dated but clean and in a picturesque location. Shuttle to town was great. Not really walkable to anything. Bed is very hard and uncomfortable. We had a great stay and would recommend because of staff and views.

Gorgeous views and nice pool area. Variety offered at breakfast was great. Bartending and wait staff very friendly. There is no where you can walk to so you have to rely on the shuttle and we couldn’t always get a ride when we wanted it.

The hotel is literally on a hillside, with an amazing sea view. Even though it's a short distance from the Amalfi city center, you feel very remote. This is due to the winding streets to get to and from the hotel. You would not want to walk very far from the hotel based on the narrow street and extreme elevation changes. That being said, we didn't leave the hotel for 2 days and were perfectly content. Our aim for this visit was to relax, and we were able to do that. Food on site was exceptional - not only in quality, but in presentation. Most of the staff was attentive and friendly, but not all. We enjoyed many lunches and dinners, but the breakfasts really stood out. The housekeeping staff was second to none. Very thorough, always busy, and friendly when engaged. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

A absolute MUST stay in Amalfi. I’ve been once before and found this hotel last minute and it exceeded ALL expectations! Location: I was hesitant at first as being in the hills can be challenging to get around however, the shuttle service they offered was really easy and 10 mins to the Amalfi town centre. Also, the view from every part of the grounds and our room was absolutely breathtaking all hours of the day. Room: Updated and brand new inside the rooms. The rooms come with a tablet that allows you to book the shuttle, order room service, etc. Amenities: The daily breakfast offered a wide range of delicious food. Had dinner once (on our last night) and it was quick and was very good. The private beach club was very convenient and the shuttle takes you directly there. The cost of food/drinks was very reasonable for being such an isolated gorgeous location. Staff: beyond professional and VERY attentive. They remembered our names and made the entire experience very memorable. Overall, we will be coming back to this hotel hands down.

My wife liked this property more than I. The hotel was built in 1835 but has only been updated to circa 1960, and in some places, it shows. We were there off season and pool was empty which detracted from the overall look of the property. Big room was sparsely furnished but opened onto unforgettable deck overlooking Amalfi coast from a higher elevation than in town. So yes, the surroundings are spectacular but the hotel isn’t keeping up. Shuttle is wonderful (and necessary) as a way to get to town and back. Great staff and great breakfast. Solid 4 stars for a less expensive place to stay in Amalfi.

Views are spectacular and the balcony area for each room is beautiful so that you can experience it from your own room, as well as terraces, dining areas, etc. Breakfast is great but it would be nice to have ceramic dishes, cups, etc. and cloth placemats & napkins to make the experience more enjoyable, with a small elegant touch.Also, in previous years the other location for breakfast ( now repurposed) was preferable, and guests were able to sit out on the terrace and enjoy a beautiful view on very pretty and comfortable furniture, in addition to tables/ chairs. That option was another plus*** for this hotel, but no longer available. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, which made my stay very pleasant. Love it here and plan to return! Thank you! Shuttle service is a real plus, convenient,and runs smoothly!

This is a hotel a little ways outside of Amalfi, but it is amazing - the view, the staff and shuttle are all amazing, we could easily just hang there looking at the beautiful and dramatic shore and water! You can walk up the hill to a couple of great restaurants, and also go on shuttle to Amalfi and grab a boat to places like Capri, Positano, Salerno, etc I loved the location, breakfast is really good, and a beautiful bar and restaurant!

För att vara Grand Hotell borde skicket uppgraderas. Läget helt fantastiskt men opraktiska och tidskrävande transporter. Undermåttlig frukost med bla kaffet i pappersmuggar på grand.. Flugor på frukostpålägget som inte var täckt . Personalen mycket trevlig.

Erschreckend waren die Pappteller , Papp - und Plastikbecher beim Frühstück. Super dagegen war der Ausblick beim Frühstück auf der Terrasse . Der regelmäßige hoteleigene Shuttlebus in die Stadt ist ein weiterer Pluspunkt, da eine Taxifahrt mit 40 € zu Buche schlägt. Wir würden das Hotel weiterempfehlen.

Pool was not the cleanest and very cold- but perhaps that's on par for a may stay.

GHE blew our expectations away, this hotel is breathtaking as soon as you step foot through the front doors. You can see it right from amalfi port & center. It is right up in the mountains making the views gorgina and far enough away that it’s quiet and relaxing away from the hustle & bustle of amalfi center. Has a free shuttle from morning til 10:45pm that is a lifesaver. Also has access to a free private beach that is 10x better than any free public one, beach also has an on-site bar and food menu that’s charged to your room making it even more convenient. The pool is something like i’ve never seen before with views of the amalfi coast/ocean. Hotel restaurant food & drinks are so good that you will not be missing out if you dine In as opposed to visiting an amalfi center restaurant. Their lemon cake is to die for!! Will be coming back!!!

Fantastic view. A bit dated rooms, especially batrooms, and beds. Nice breakfast. Restaurant is a big problem for an expensive hotel far away from an alternative. The menu was very unclear and wrongly translated to English. We ordered caprese salad, and got a cold tomato soup. The waiters answer was that we should make it clear that we wanted a salad. The menu was very unclear and wrongly translated to English. We ordered caprese salad, and got a cold tomato soup. The waiters answer was that we should make it clear that we wanted a salad. Excellent hotel - rooms on the 5th floor are newly renovated and modern. Views are spectacular at every vantage point. Great breakfast with many options and fresh squeezed juice. Staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Love the free shuttle to Amalfi city centre running every 20 mins until 11pm. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel that has amazing views of Amalfi. Our room was spacious and clean with a wonderful sea view. Staff were exceptional and accommodating. It is a distance from the town of Amalfi, but the hotel provides a courtesy shuttle bus which runs every 20 or so minutes which you just book online. I would definitely stay again!

We loved this hotel. The views were incredible and the service was excellent. They had a lovely pool and private beach. Everyone was very accommodating of my gluten and dairy allergies and we ate at the hotel restaurant for many of our meals. The shuttle service takes you to the private beach and downtown Amalfi, right near the ferry dock.

The hotel had beautiful views and a very useful shuttle service to and from town/the beach. The room was nice and clean. A bit dated looking inside but I think that’s just the vibe around here. Breakfast was great, and the staff was very helpful to anything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying here to a loved one or stranger.

The view is incredible, you can see the entire coast. It is quiet, clean. The shuttle service to beach and to Amalfi is a great perk. The Private beach is accessed vis elevator, only 6 steps to the beach. Did I say private? The entire staff trats us like family.

This hotel was everything. The staff here is incredible, the restaurant was amazing (and great sunset/moonrises). We didn't get the opportunity to go to the private beach but heard it was amazing as well. Perfect place to stay in Amalfi, when we come back we will definitely be booking here again.

The hotel is far from the city of Amalfi and getting up and down is a hassle. There are only 8 seats on each shuttle and you have to schedule times in advance. The prime times fill up very quickly when the hotel is full. The price per taxi trip is 60 euros. Some the hotel staff is helpful and overbooks the shuttle to max at 10 seats and other staff just tell you oh well, there is a bus that goes every hour. The hotel is outdated and the A/C doesn’t work great. It’s just ok if you get a good price.
