Superb location, just two minutes from Piazza San Marco. Immaculately clean. Breakfast was fine. Spacious room (junior suite) but very dark. Two issues of note: 1. Intermittent wi fi in the room which was very frustrating. 2. Could have done with a kettle in the room.

We liked pretty much everything about this hotel, with one minor exception: the elevators. We needed to take two elevators and some stairs to reach our suite. But it was fun in the end.

The hotel was very well located just off St Marc’s Square. Really convenient for tourist sites, bars and restaurants. The room was quaint and styled in a classical Venetian style. The bar looked good, but never seemed to open ? The inclusive buffet breakfast was particularly good in a building behind the main hotel. We stayed at the end of October and the weather was still pretty warm. The room was very warm over night for a couple of nights of our stay, but the central air conditioning had been turned off for Winter. We had to open the window, but the room was on the main street and was particularly noisy. Especially when a music band went past at 5am ! The direct ferry to the airport from Rialto Bridge at 6:30am was a god send for us on an early flight.

I would rate this 3 not 4 star, we got the room on 6 th floor and the elevator only goes up to 4 floors. You have to walk up 2 flights of stairs . The rooms are very small, very little space for luggage etc. We really love the location, it was right next to St Marks square and very close to major attractions. It worked for us as we were only in the room to sleep.

Man muss einfach wissen, dass dieses Hotel keine Heizung hat. Nur Klima für den Sommer, aber ohne Heizmöglichkeit. Deshalb war es in der letzten kalten Aprilwoche auch etwas kalt im Zimmer .

PIOJOS - LICE, en 2 habitaciones. Totalmente desagradable. Cambiaron de habitación a mi hermano y su familia. La señorita de la recepción fue a la habitación y verificó que los piojos estaban caminando en las sabanas y les tomo fotos. Al día siguiente pedí hablar con el gerente que no me recibio, pero Sabrina muy gentil me escucho y mandaron a lavar la ropa que estuvo en contacto con esa cama. Al dia siguiente nos ibamos y también encontramos PIOJOS en la cama de mis padres, pedi hablar con el gerente y finalmente conversamos. Dijo que las habitaciones se fumigan (no creo), que los huespedes llevan los piojos al poner las maletas sobre la cama. Le aclaré ademas que vimos en el cubre colchón manchas de sangre secas, todo eso es falta de higiene.Me dijo que queria compensar el mal momento, le dije que no podia porque todo estaba pagado con Hoteles.com; dijo que sabia como hacerlo. Me hicieron un reembolso que no pedi. Sin embargo en el email que mandó le aclare la situación y le dije que iba a poner el reclamo en Hoteles.com. En el desayuno el primer día la persona encargada nos ha gritado, delante mis padres (mayores de 70 años) y mi sobrina (7años) además no hablaba ni ingles ni español, asi que todo el atropello lo hizo en Italiano. Hasta que finalmente trajo a una señora de la cocina Chiara que hablaba ingles y español muy educada, nos escucho y nos comunicamos muy bien. LA EXPERIENCIA MALA Y JAMAS VOLVERIA. Tengo videos de los piojos caminando sobre las sábanas.

This property was absolutely disgusting. We found bedbugs in my kids bed and ended up getting bit up bad. Had to go to a local pharmacy and get ointment for her bites. Pharmacist was appalled when he saw her bites and provided us with spray to spray our stuff. Staff was not surprised or apologetic when they were told. They gave us a different room and no other compensation. You could hear through the walls really easily, and the water was always cold. I would never in a million years recommend this place to anyone.

For those staying here, please take note of some things. One, you will need to pay in advance regardless of what Expedia says (including a city tax that we did not know about until we checked in). The hotel will reach out for payment multiple times beforehand regardless if you booked to pay at check in so don’t take expedias word for it. Two, the photos were not an accurate representation of the room we got. It was much smaller, and the second ‘bed’ was just a glorified cot. Our shower drain backed up and we were basically wading in water every time we showered. Three, there are ants and mosquitoes so plan accordingly. Four, I’m pretty sure that our room had bed bugs. We had bites on us that I thought were mosquitoes but they don’t look or feel like them and I had to check online. The staff was nice, and the location is convenient. But please, do know what you’re getting into and DO YOUR RESEARCH. To the hotel itself, I am extremely disappointed considering the money we spent. Please do better for your guests going forward. 4 star experience this was NOT.

Wir waren zu zweit Ende März für eine Woche in dem Hotel untergebracht. Das Hotel war super. Besonders der Frühstücksraum und das Buffett waren hervorragend. Das Personal super freundlich und das Hotelzimmer gut und sauber. Nur für das Badezimmer gebe ich einen Stern Abzug, da es bereits in die Jahre gekommen war. Für alles andere gibt es gar nichts zu meckern, zumal das Hotel recht zentral liegt und man in wenigen Schritten auf dem Markusplatz steht. Ich kann das Hotel nur weiterempfehlen.

Hôtel très bien situé. Personnel très professionnel mais les chambres du 4ème étage sont très étroites. Les équipements d'une autre époque. Douche et WC vraiment très petit. Prises électrique et interrupteurs désuets. Insonorisation et isolation (fenêtre notamment) inexistantes.

The entrance and lobby was very enticing. The second we left and went to the floor where our room was located, it felt like we walked into a motel. Outdated rugs, poor lighting. Our room was supposed to be a rooms that slept 3. We walked into a room with a double bed and cot right next to the the double bed, leaving barely any walking room. We didn’t have room for our luggage, everything felt like it was in the way. The rooms are very small, the mattress was very uncomfortable and we the a/c was barely pumping cold air. The bathroom seemed to be the only updated room, however the shower was small, so if you’re not small figured, it’ll be challenging. We were in Venice for one night and didn’t want to ruin our short time there with the long list of dissatisfaction. As someone that travels 50% of the year, I can assure you the amount of money spent for one night was not worth it.

Very disappointing. We arrived late due to flight delays. Were given the incorrect room (cheaper room) by night staff and was told to see day staff to change. We eventually changed rooms which was great with views of the canal. The aircon did not work so they moved us to a suite this was worse than the basic double and bed was horrible. Staff were accomodating to move but 3 night stay with 3 moves put a damper on the trip and cut into our tours. Breakfast was fantastic bacon was the best. Great location 2 mins walk to the square and abundance of restaurants. Not one bad meal to be had by us. Gondola ride pick up drop off right at the canal next to hotel no need to book just wait.

Ideal location but not sure how it’s a 4-star rating. Staff were nice enough but not entirely helpful- not mentioning things like where the breakfast is or even the direction to the rooms upon checkin! Biggest gripes were the bed - SO uncomfortable - and the noise. We heard everything from the room upstairs including their television, talking, furniture moving and footsteps, so sleep was disturbed further (once finally able to fall asleep on the bad mattress!). We did always have our bed made and toiletries topped up but minimum expectations of a ‘4-star’ hotel. Breakfast was average, thank goodness included.

We were given a room on the very top floor, it was very small and tired, it was in need of a lick of paint. Hotel location is perfect for access to popular sites. We were a little disappointed in the room. Loose flooring pieces stuck to bare feet. Little more run down than expected for $350/ night room. Very clean, though, and lovely breakfast.

We had a wonderful stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Wonderful staff, helpful and courteous. We had an early travel day and they even packed us a boxed breakfast for the road! It was a nice detail that we were thankful for once we caught our train! ❤️🇮🇹

The people working at the front desk were not helpful when I asked for help make reservations or about mailing postcards to the states. They seemed annoyed when I asked for help. This was completely unlike our experiences in Rome or Florence. The best part of the hotel was its location.

The hotel is in a great area. Although the hotel is very old, it was still in great condition. However, the AC in the bedroom would not work, along with the phones in the room. When informing the front desk staff, the woman tried to argue that if the green light was turned on, it should be working. The cold air was not coming out through the vent, so we had to explain that to her and be a little more assertive, as she did seem like she wanted to help initially. Eventually they sent maintenance to our room to repair it. Service and hospitality was therefore lacking, but seems to be common in Italy. Expected better service as this was a really expensive hotel.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Royal San Marco Hotel. The room was very spacious and comfortable, but most importantly was the location! Right off of San Marco Square, it was centrally located to everything we wanted to do.

Location, location, location. Close to San Marco which meant we could meander down there every evening just to enjoy the ambience. It also meant the tourist attractions were close by as was the transportation to the airport and / or Burano / Murray etc. Worked for us!

Amazing location just 100 feet from St Marks Square. Took public transportation from Piazza Roma to San Marco and then a 10 minute walk to the hotel across St Marks Square crossing one bridge with 16 steps total. Used water taxi to get to airport fro San Marco pier. Hotel staff was great, breakfast was good, lots to do in the area and the hotel gave great referrals for lunch, dinner and snacks. Recommendations were all great places and within 5 to 10 minutes of the hotel. Room was smaller than expected but was adequate for our four day stay. 10 minute walk straight west to Rialto Bridge! 30-40 minute walk to Piazza Roma from hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel!

Lovely hotel in an older building literally steps from Piazza San Marco. Good breakfast included. If you want a giant room in a modern hotel, this is not the place for you. If you want a comfortable, clean room in a historic building and want to be right next to the main square for easy access to the main sites, this is a great option. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our room at the Royal San Marco was excellent value for the price. We rented a large, spacious room that was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was well-appointed, with courtesy toiletries and fluffy towels. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the hotel room was, given the location on a very busy street just off of St. Mark's Square. The breakfast was excellent, and the breakfast room itself is located on the corner of two canals, so the breakfast buffet and several of the tables look out over canals....a perfect way to start a day in Venice! The best part of this hotel was the service. During our stay, we spoke with three separate staff members at the front counter, and they were all exceedingly helpful and courteous. All of the housekeeping and breakfast staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay here and would stay again.
