We loved our stay at SCP. We are a young family of four and we felt very welcomed from the beginning. Amanda the night front desk host was very nice and we saw her the next night too. And even though it was 12am she was still very friendly and welcoming. We loved the amenities; the stand up paddle board we borrowed for a few hours for two days, the pool, the different areas to relax in. I think my favorite was the open hotel lobby. We highly recommend!

They have free filtered water, tea, coffee, hot water. The place is very relaxing. They have a pond with fish and ducks. They have a flower garden, a massage therapist on site. An area with board games and puzzles. A restaurant is attached to the hotel. The bay is right across from the hotel. You can get paddle boards to use for free in the Bay. They also have bikes for you to use. The beds were comfy. There is air conditioner or you can leave the huge window open and use the ceiling fan.

Quick one night stay with 35-45 minute drive to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Room was clean, easy check in, staff were friendly, bed was good, bathroom/shower were clean as well! Easy walk to Coconut Island (pictured) and short driving distance from hotel to amazing waterfalls in or near Hilo! ONLY downside was parking was limited. So have to park nearby on street. Found parking without much problem and not too far away. Staff was VERY HELPFUL with that, especially with me arriving so late in the evening! Kudos to the hotel staff! Overall, great last minute find!

The staff on check in and check out are very friendly and made it a breeze. The lobby area is very nice and several guests and families chose of it to be their nightly hangout area playing cards and board games. The rooms are quiet with comfortable beds. There is on site free parking behind the hotel that makes if convenient and easy to get to your vehicle. They have free rentals on bikes and paddle boards for easy access to the bay and surrounding areas. This was a nice remodeled motel that adds modern touches to an old school charm.

We loved this hotel. The vibe is young and hip and the staff is friendly and how can you not like a hotel with a mission statement ?! The rooms have just what you need ( bed, desk, mini fridge, microwave) with small bathrooms but great water pressure and really nice, local shampoo, conditioner and soap. It was so nice to have a laundry room, deep pool and a massage service onsite too. There are a host of complimentary things like bikes and water too. The quirks: soft mattresses and an older construction…read: noise travels easily through slatted windows and thin walls. Having noted that, we really enjoyed our stay and would return!

We had a wonderful stay. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The lobby, common areas, and amenities are fabulous. The room is very average, but was certainly sufficient for our needs. As a family with two adults and two teenagers, we appreciated the room with three beds. We really enjoyed the pool and the standup paddle boards. Also enjoyed the complimentary coffee, which was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

My Christmas Eve experience at this hotel was absolutely appalling. The bathroom was infested with dead bugs, fly bugs were buzzing around the room, and small insects crawled on the walls. To make matters worse, the hotel blared deafening DJ music starting at 4:30 AM—yes, before dawn. The noise was unbearable, and many guests abandoned the hotel before sunrise. Sleep was impossible, and the entire night was a nightmare.

The staff was great. The main hotel does not have AC, it's basically open to outside which is kinda cool if you like the heat. We were trying to escape the heat for a few days. The room had a window AC. It was noisy but kept the room cool. Ceiling fan had a mind of its own. Room was clean and I always saw housekeeping. Not a fan of the roaches in the room though. It may be common in Hawaii but not where I come from. They have some 3" ones. Seriously! The hotel took a little off my bill. Not enough for the price I paid for 4 nights of worrying if I was taking any home in my luggage. To end on a good note, nice pool and landscaping is beautiful and well maintained. Cute wild cat was entertaining.

The lobby and grounds of the property are beautiful. The staff is super friendly. Although we didn’t use the bikes and the paddle boards, having them as an option for free is nice. The pool area is really neat as were the Koi ponds. We spent many hours out on our balcony watching the fish. I do have to agree with some other reviewers with the conditions of the rooms. It does look like they took an old hotel and just slapped some new paint on the rooms. The bathroom wasn’t updated and there was other peoples hair clung to the walls. I felt like the room and the hallways could be cleaner. Also don’t expect a large TV in the rooms. They are 32 inches at best. The beds are very comfortable and it was nice to be able to have the option of air conditioning. I did like that our stay helps the community but I thought the price was a little high once I seen the condition of the room.

Lovely hotel - the rooms were clean and modern and the staff made the stay wonderful. The 24/7 tea and coffee in the reception was delightful, and the seating area by the pool was lovely for an after dinner chat and drink. Close to lots of walkable breakfast options and a short drive from downtown Hilo.

We stayed for one night. The hotel has a nice location close to the shore with beaches, a street of banyan trees, and a park. The pool and garden area looked nice, although we didn't have time to use them. The hotel is not new, so you should expect that, but was clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful!

The layout of this hotel is really confusing - its like they combined 2 or 3 different motels and called it a day. Depending on what room you're at, it can take 10 minutes to walk there. The room itself is very minimal, which is fine, and also just note that the TV is a 22" monitor - so no need to select those rooms if you already have an iPad or something to use.

Pics make the property look nicer than it is. The hotel staff were kind to allow us to cancel our stay after 1 night without penalty. The 2-bed room was very small, and the beds were very soft, which made us decide to move to another hotel. The immediate vicinity is run down but not unsafe. Fitness center has free weights and 2 Peloton bikes that are in reasonably good shape.

Slick marketing photos hide the reality that this property is still a decades old motel with some surface, albeit lovely upgrades to lobby and pool area. Those upgrades and kind front desk staff can't completely make up for the very dated rooms, shoddy key card locks, old school shutterpane glass windows and the oh so lovely airline jets flying 100 feet overhead on approach to Hilo airport. Not saying don't stay here but I am saying know what you're buying.

The hotel is basic but comfortable. Staff were friendly and check in/out was easy. The bathroom was TINY but since I was alone it worked. If you’re looking for home comforts this isn’t the place for you. There was no TV and no power plug near the bed. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the AC did the job.

We stayed for one night after coming back from the Volcanoes National Park. Though it was a short stay, it was nice and comfortable. There was one trouble where the ceiling fan did not work, but they changed our room immediately and upgraded it to a room with a view which was great. We heard noises from outside because the walls are probably thin and not sound-proofed, but we managed. Water and coffee were available 24/7 at the lobby, a couple of good walking distance restaurants, overall a very good hotel for an affordable price! Highly recommended!

Receptionist lady has no business being in reception. First, she overcharged us for early check-in and changing room from second floor to first floor. The staff on check in and check out are very friendly and made it a breeze. The lobby area is very nice and several guests and families chose of it to be their nightly hangout area playing cards and board games. The rooms are quiet with comfortable beds. There is on site free parking behind the hotel that makes if convenient and easy to get to your vehicle. They have free rentals on bikes and paddle boards for easy access to the bay and surrounding areas. This was a nice remodeled motel that adds modern touches to an old school charm.

Excellent front desk, service, nice, clean and well appointed room, lovely grounds with huge Koi, pond and garden, and a very nice pool courtyard. There is a park along the water just across the street where it is nice to take a walk and families have picnics in the evening. The restaurant on the property has decent food and nice service. The motel offers many free extras and has a focus on kindness towards people and the environment.

On our second evening there was a tsunami evacuation. The staff and manager waited until we were safely on a bus to the evacuation centre. This took some time and they gave us regular updates. When we were allowed to return they offered to collect us or send an uber. Thanks so much. The hotel is quite good. Aircon is a bit noisy but works. Probably the best option in Hilo.

Great Hotel. Definitely would stay again. Love the proximity to the airport, downtown Hilo, Coconut Island, restaurants and parks. A little nosy by most hotels are. I appreciated the ladies at the front desk, upon check in, sharing their knowledge of the hotels history (many renovations and buildings later, the first building was housing for workers; so many transformations). And the free beverage (kombucha). Mahalo nui loa!

The room was large, clean and well equipped—comfortable mattress and pillows, 2 luggage racks, refrigerator, large countertop cabinet that had a desk chair and drawers, window AC, louvre windows, gorgeous ceiling fan. Also hangars, hair dryer and iron. A really nice touch that other hotels should offer was a drying rack for clothing. Also used the water filling station in the lobby. The pool area had tables and chairs along w chaise lounge chairs. The location was convenient. Although it is by the airport, planes were infrequent and it was very quiet. Location is nice w a park, gas station and restaurants nearby. The parking lot was fenced and had video cameras and seemed more secure than nearby hotels. Negatives: the initial view of the hotel was from the side and it looked like a rundown apartment building and I drove by the hotel the first time, giving me second thoughts. The inside was fine. The bathroom was showing age, worn doors, wall dings. It was a hike from the entrance to the room, down multiple corridors, stairs only to the second floor and multiple staircases from the parking lot so anyone with mobility challenges may want to call ahead about the room location. And for an eco friendly hotel, there were no recycling containers in the room, only in the lobby and parking lot entrance. Would definitely stay again.

Renovated older hotel, clean, good location, very friendly staff. Unique furnishing and decorations. Complimentary paddle board and bike rental. Coconut Grill attached to the hotel, Ponds restaurant 1min walk. We had great experience in both. If we plan another trip to Hilo we would definitely chose this hotel again.

Be prepared There is no coffee hot water for tea etc in the room The king rooms are the farthest away from the lobby 10 min walk with luggage No elevator So it is more for minimalist vibe The parking is far from the rooms Pool is not heated pretty cold Refreshing in the day not at night No tv stations so bring your password or hdmi cord By the air port Bring ear plugs!!!

Lovely hotel - the rooms were clean and modern and the staff made the stay wonderful. The 24/7 tea and coffee in the reception was delightful, and the seating area by the pool was lovely for an after dinner chat and drink. Close to lots of walkable breakfast options and a short drive from downtown Hilo.

The property was clean, had plenty of hot water in the morning and was conveniently located near a few restaurants. We rented a car after a couple of days and that meade us realize how much more conveniently located it was to other destinations. The staff was nice and helpful. We felt very safe in the property and the surrounding areas. We weren't in the room a lot, but it was a bit noisy at times with other guests and airplane traffic. Our sound machine was either broken or not easy to use. The restaurant attached was not very good, so I would not reccomend earing there. I would go to Pineapples or Hawaiian style if you want a great meal. Pond's and Ken's were totally fine and walkable from the hotel and decent. I would reccomend this place to travelers in general. If they had a TV, I would have given it a 5 star. Overall a great place to stay!

Hotel vraiment sympa, personnel vraiment top, pas mal d’équipement. En revanche, les lits ne sont pas confortables, ils sont assez petits. La salle de bain était très vieillotte. Chambre très humide. Piscine top, espace vert bien entretenu. Bien pour une retraite spirituelle car assez calme lorsque les avions ne passent pas juste au dessus de l’hôtel. L’hôtel est très très proche de l’aéroport.

The room was very dated and tiny, but spotlessly clean. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The air conditioning was a bit old and noisy. The laundry was ok, took a bit to work out how to use the machines, and having to know the zip code for Hilo (a quick trip to reception) but finally got washing done. The location is ok, with nice lagoon out the front and the Ocean over the road but was not quite what I expected. I have stayed in Banyan Drive before at another hotel and thought it would be closer to this, in a leafier part, but that was my bad investigation. Car parking handy and free but it is a very busy thoroughfare, with lots of locals frequenting the ocean front for fishing and picnics, especially on weekends.
