Siobhan was an amazing front desk clerk. She took me on a tour of the facilities that consists of: an outdoor patio for eating and doing laundry, a TV lounge and also walked me to my suite, showed me where to park and how to get in my room. The suite was awesome! There’s a queen bed, kitchenette well stocked with a larger than usual hotel sized fridge, microwave, rice cooker and most kitchen dishes and utensils. The bathroom was a good size, the shower was large! There’s an office space that has a built in desk and an office chair. There are lots of plugs for charging. The bed was really firm (which I love)! The room was clean and comfortable. It was really quiet, aside from the neighborhood sounds a few times during the night. The grounds are well cared for. My only regret is that it was an overnight stay. I would have liked to enjoy that space a bit more.

The staff was amazing. Mahana was so friendly and helpful. I couldn’t have asked for more. She is amazing. Michael was also very sweet and helpful. The property is set up so inviting and cozy with lots of community areas.

comfortable property with nice shared spaces for being able to lounge around. Walkable to the beach, but you need a car to get downtown to other attractions. Staff was very friendly and responsive.

Arnott's Lodge is a quiet, cozy home away from home. The staff were so friendly. We stayed in a studio. Parking was right outside your private entrance so very easy to unload luggage. The studio had air conditioning, a large kitchen island, a 2 burner stovetop, mini fridge, toaster, microwave and utensils. It was so nice to be able to cook our own meals. The private bathroom had a large shower. The bed was our favorite part. Firm but oh so comfortable after a long day of exploring. The beach is a 3 minute walk down to the end of the road. It's a tiny beach entrance and was never crowded. This lodge is extremely close to the Hilo airport and it can be very loud when planes are landing so be aware if you are a light sleeper. We will definitely be staying here again when in Hilo.

Mike was a great host and gave us easy ideas about entertaining kids. Also directions to find food and other services nearby. The place is like a dormitory, no frills, but everything you need for preparing you own food and getting a good nights rest. It’s an older lodge but everything was sparkling clean and well-maintained. I’d recommend it to friends.

Clean and spacious rooms. Staff was helpful and courteous. Will recommend lodge to others. My family loved the beautiful birds singing outside our window. From our porch, we could see geese and goslings in a small pond. Super cute. Kona is nice but Hilo rocks!!! Great common area. Really clean.

5 star experience. We stayed 7 nights. The staff was so helpful before we arrived with helping us with our questions to our last day. It was very clean and the room had plenty of space, and the shared kitchen was an added bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

Arnott's Lodge is old and in desperate need of updating. I would say that it is comfortable enough. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the A/C worked in the bedrooms (but none in the community areas), the bath and shower were okay, but didn't like the shower head. The check-in guy was super nice. However, there were some negatives that I would say overshadow the positives. First, it smelled of mildew all throughout. Second, we ran across several roaches, including in the beds. Third, there was one bed in the living room, but no A/C for the living room, so the person who slept in the living room was the only one without air conditioning. Fourth, our room was located in the corner, right next to the neighbors who had some kind of bird sanctuary, and the birds never shut up, even at night. This affected the person sleeping in the living room and the people sleeping in the back bedroom.

We were staying on the west side of the island most of the time, but stayed here one night to catch an early tour from Hilo the next morning. I saw in some reviews/descriptions that surfers like to stay here, so I was a little skeptical. There were 5 of us(all adults) so they put us in a family suite, and i was VERY pleasantly surprised how nice this is and very affordable. Its not fancy, and you can tell its an old building, but everything is very well maintained, clean, and a great front desk manager who took time to show us to the room. My only criticism of the room is not very many electrical sockets and some of those were worn so that the plugs would fall out. But, if we stay in Hilo again, this will definitely be a the top of our list.

Very tiny. Somewhat clean. The unit I stayed in was more like bedrooms in a house. You enter through the living room and get access to separate bedrooms, which are right next to each other. However, it was very quiet. Was it worth the price, meh. Would I stay there again? I’d prefer not to. I wouldn’t give it a thumbs up, but I wouldn’t give it a thumbs down either.

Check in process was smooth, Siobhan is an effective communicator. Suite 6 was awesome, lots of room for our family of 4. Loved the little fridge/freezer and big sink. Only thing was the hot water, or lack thereof. It was a crapshoot. First night: barely warm showers. Second night: hot showers eventually. Next morning: cold cold cold shower, no hot water at all. Third night: warm showers.

The room was too small. No room for luggage. Towels were stored on table. Bathroom was hard to move around in. I never thought that I would ever have to check before to see if there was a tv in the room. The room was neat and tidy though, but wasn’t worth what I paid for it.

I booked a night here since it was close to the airport and our accommodations for the trip were far and we we’re arriving very late. I called ahead let them know of our late arrival. Turns out our flight was delayed twice making our arrival even later. Arriving into Hilo at 0130 was not the easiest. We couldn’t get a Lyft, Uber, or taxi. A whole plane of people were trying to use 3 car shares at the same time. Mr Arnott went above and beyond helping out a single mom with 2 kids Stuck at the airport at 2am. I booked a night here since it was close to the airport and our accommodations for the trip were far and we we’re arriving very late. I called ahead let them know of our late arrival. Turns out our flight was delayed twice making our arrival even later. Arriving into Hilo at 0130 was not the easiest. We couldn’t get a Lyft, Uber, or taxi. A whole plane of people were trying to use 3 car shares at the same time. Mr Arnott went above and beyond helping out a single mom with 2 kids Stuck at the airport at 2am. I’m so thankful we booked here and the lodge was perfect. Cute little lodge right near the water, comfortable bed, and hot shower. Thank you again so much for being amazing to us!!!

This place is a Very quiet and safe environment. Very close to the Hilo International Airport ( about 20 minutes to Arnotts Lodge). Very friendly staff. We checked in very late due to late airline arrival,. The staff, Mike, was still waiting for us at the lodge for our late check in. We greatly appreciate for Arnotts Lodge’s flexible accommodation for our late check in. Further, another staff at Arnotts Lodge, Lauren, the young lady at the front desk, went beyond her duty to help me on my Apple laptop as I encountered the technical issues. I am a new Apple Laptop user. Highly recommend Arnotts Lodge to anyone.

5 star experience. We stayed 7 nights. The staff was so helpful before we arrived with helping us with our questions to our last day. It was very clean and the room had plenty of space, and the shared kitchen was an added bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

Siobhan was an amazing front desk clerk. She took me on a tour of the facilities that consists of: an outdoor patio for eating and doing laundry, a TV lounge and also walked me to my suite, showed me where to park and how to get in my room. The suite was awesome! There’s a queen bed, kitchenette well stocked with a larger than usual hotel sized fridge, microwave, rice cooker and most kitchen dishes and utensils. The bathroom was a good size, the shower was large! There’s an office space that has a built in desk and an office chair. There are lots of plugs for charging. The bed was really firm (which I love)! The room was clean and comfortable. It was really quiet, aside from the neighborhood sounds a few times during the night. The grounds are well cared for. My only regret is that it was an overnight stay. I would have liked to enjoy that space a bit more.

This is our second stay at Arnott’s Lodge and we will definitely be back again! We appreciate the kind and helpful staff, all the amenities we need, and the location can’t be beat! We travel with kids and it is great for all ages. It would be a safe and comfortable for single travelers.

Had a great visit. Everyone is particularly helpful. Met with Mr. Arnott and he was very accommodating and friendly. The staff are really good if you need any extra soap or supplies. It used to be a hostel but has now turned into a hotel and it’s very amenable to all of the local events and facilities.

This lodge is a little outdated. Room is small. Shared kitchen is convenient. Close to Hilo airport. Very loud when plane pass by. Close to the beaches which are really good for snorkeling. Can see lots of turtles.

An amazing sitting area to have my coffee and listen to the birds wake up and the waves crashing. It doesn't have an ocean view but it's about 500 feet from an ocean view. The location to two awesome beach parks can't be beat! It's only a few minutes walk to either of them, one in each direction. Plus other parks are within a few minutes drive. About 10 minutes to airport, Walmart, farmer's market, pretty much anything downtown. There was lots of information (books, pamphelets, magazines) provided about local attractions. The host was very friendly and I had a very relaxing stay. I've already recommened this place to family who are looking to visit Hilo soon.

Arnott's Lodge is a quiet, cozy home away from home. The staff were so friendly. We stayed in a studio. Parking was right outside your private entrance so very easy to unload luggage. The studio had air conditioning, a large kitchen island, a 2 burner stovetop, mini fridge, toaster, microwave and utensils. It was so nice to be able to cook our own meals. The private bathroom had a large shower. The bed was our favorite part. Firm but oh so comfortable after a long day of exploring. The beach is a 3 minute walk down to the end of the road. It's a tiny beach entrance and was never crowded. This lodge is extremely close to the Hilo airport and it can be very loud when planes are landing so be aware if you are a light sleeper. We will definitely be staying here again when in Hilo.

The property is lovely, and the staff are hospitable. But the nearby airport noise was to much to take, only got an hour of sleep.

only issue there was is the ac did not get very cold. i set the temperatre to 64 degrees, which is the coldest setting, and the room felt like 70 degrees. also not a big deal unless you arriveing on a late flight, office hours are only 9-5, checking in after 5 is an issue

Staff was helpful on check in and orientation was clear. The only downside for me was bed was not good for me. Also when I took a shower there was sand on the shower pan and walls had a slimly to the touch. No bath soap… not sure if it was in the fine print. Need to be aware so you can pack small sizes for carry on bags. But we were comfortable.

This was one of the oddest hotels I've stayed in. There were many beds to choose from in the room (5), which was great, but the only TVs were in a lounge outside. This meant that a large number of teens would gather below our room to watch TV late at night, making lots of noise. This made it hard to sleep. The room was clean and there was a nice number of birds on the property. Very off the beaten path.

My friend and I had a wonderful stay. Clean and comfortable, with friendly and helpful staff. We liked the homey feel so much better than a huge resort hotel. Air conditioning was great and I loved the refrigerator at chest level instead of on the floor, ( at least in our room which was in the house across the street.) Parking next to the house and walking distance to the beach was also a plus. Would highly recommend Arnott’s Lodge!
