All staff were welcoming and helpful. It was nice having a fridge, microwave and sink to be able to eat in at times. Laundry facilities were available. I'd go for a dip in the ocean right next door and then hop into the pool. Very relaxing. Ask for a room, second floor, overlooking the pool as this gives you a nice view of the ocean as well. Very good location in Hilo

This location looks a bit worn/dated. It has no A/C and no elevator, but it does have fans in the room and a kitchenette. The bay view is gorgeous. The staff is attentive and they keep everything clean. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely landscaping. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The security guard was extremely helpful. Room was very nice and clean. Older building but nicely kept and updated. No musty odor which is unusual for an older block building. There is a nice park with a beach next door to the property. The pool looked very nice and clean. Listening to the ocean right outside of our balcony all night, was very relaxing. Would definitely stay there again.

Best value for my dollar at any hotel in Hawaii I've been to. Convenient, nice staff, free parking, close to all attractions and what did it for me is that the laundry,dryers, and soda machines are at a low price. They could have jacked up the price a little bit if they wanted too but they just want to be fair. Highly recommended for your stay. They also have 24 hour Security too.

Bit of a mix up at check in. Our rooms were on the 2nd floor. Hotel is older, so no elevator, and WiFi was very spotty and sometimes no WiFi unless you went to the lobby. Rooms had kitchenette with dishes and utensils, and fans (no A/C) and were clean. Beds were comfortable. Night noise level was acceptable. Free parking. Nice small pool.

We were quite shocked when we first arrived, pictures are a little deceiving. Check in process was very easy. When we opened the door to our room first impression the room did not smell clean, smell was a strong musty, mildew smell. The room itself did not seem very clean. There were small spider webs and spiders everywhere. The bathroom itself was clean which was good. The good thing about the place is it was quiet. To find parking at night is pretty tough, you might have to park on the street which is pretty scarce also. What I can say about the property is nice a quiet and the staff was friendly. I definitely would not stay here during the hotter seasons since they do not have air conditioners. We stayed here in January and it was still very warm in the room even at night with the windows open.

This place is absolutely disgusting! It is falling apart, dirty, smelly and the staff was rude. It is situated next to low income housing and felt very unsafe as our balcony looked out into the parking lot of the apartment building where there were cracked out homeless people hanging out. We left after seeing that. Don’t bother staying here! We forfeited the $153 and went down the road and stayed at the SCP. Sooooo much better!

This is an older property, but it is well maintained, very clean, and moderately priced. Beautiful oceanside location that is a short drive from Volcanoes National Park. Our only contact with staff was with the security person who took care of our late check in for our one night stay. He was very helpful and pleasant. We would absolutely stay here again.

Nice room, and the staff are very helpful. Two things though - A/C is badly needed, and the wi-fi signals are very week in the rooms, that is why they suggest connecting in the lobby. Nice view of the bay & pool from the balcony. The kitchen sink, silverware and plates, glasses, etc. was great to have, and the big fridge was nice too.

Perfect for the trip. The hotel is like an Aus motel with a Hawaiian twist. Very large rooms and kitchen facilities. Clean and well serviced. Bay views are great. An older property without elevators 3 floors and stairs may limit it for some. No AC but fans kept it comfortable. Friendly family feel TV and wifi was marginal in rooms but volcano monitoring in lobby was a plus beds very comfortable king and Queen Quiet location east access to airport beach parks and road to Volcano Park and Hilo Safe parking. Satisfied with this Hilo base for big island exploring

We walked in the room and were astounded by the beautiful water views. Lovely balcony. We had a fridge and microwave. Perfect for us. The location was very quiet. Bed was very comfortable. A lovely stay.

Out of my 5 day trip I stayed 2 nights in Hilo so I could be close to Volcano National Park and I would not stay here again in the future. Although the staff was very friendly and helpful, but you can hear people talking outside and in other rooms late at night. The rooms also have no A/C and the Wifi is horrible. I couldn't even cast shows on the TV from my phone. That being said, the bed itself was comfortable so at least there's that. Parking was easy to find as well, but I would not recommend this hotel to solo travelers.

Hotel is old but rooms are renovated and very spacious. Front desk staff, security, and owners are friendly. Great location to Merrie Monarch activities and within minutes of shops and restaurants. Beautiful beach park next to hotel.

Reeds was very clean with comfortable beds, although an older hotel. Nothing fancy. It could stand some undating but the room had everything you needed with a kitchenette. We had a bayview room which was nice to watch the sunrise and boats in Reeds Bay. No AC, but the fans kept it very comfortable. No elevators, but we pack light. The staff were very helpful with much aloha. Being local islanders, this was an affordable option. Not for folks looking for a high end resort with all the fees, but very clean, close walking to parks, Hilo Bay, downtown market, and free parking. We will stay here again.

Old property in disrepair without air conditioning. The hotel is angled so the rooms do not catch the trade winds. Uncomfortably warm if it is the summer. The rooms do have kitchenettes and the beds were acceptable. Half the price of the Grand Naniloa nearby, so you get what you pay for.

Came in to Hilo for a family visit and was very happy with our stay at Reeds. They were very warm and welcoming and very accommodating when we asked to stay an extra night. Beautiful scenery, very clean room and pool. The aunties were so sweet and greeted us everytime we came in and out and helped us find towels and quarters. Even got an aloha hug on our way out! 100% recommend staying here in a his quiet nook right by the bay and downtown.

This was our second stay here and we enjoyed the experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is very conveniently located for airport, eating and going into Hilo town. They were accommodating in getting us a first floor room, since my wife has arthritis.

Very basic hotel, but it was clean and quiet. TV was a bit to figure out, but other than that, can’t complain. A nice man that worked there helped me take my suitcase up the 3 flights of stairs.

The staff there were extremely friendly, very helpful. For instance, a young man helped us carry up eight heavy suitcases up the stairs. This is because there is no elevator in this building. The room was clean. The building is in dire need of a update or renovation.

The hotel is Tour's Trap. When my husband and I pulled up on the parking lot, we were a little shock of how old the building is, it is NOT as advertised -False Advertise. The building is old, it's clean, does not have AC (we were okay with that) but the airflow was not circulating. The reason I was not happy about it, we planned on staying for three nights, but our plan changed, we need to check out a night early, but the front desk clerk and the manager will not return our REFUND for the night we did not stay. They said it is a penalty that we checked out one night early. The front desk clerk/manager charge us the one night we didn't stay, the tax, and the fee.

I recently stayed at Reeds bay hotel and had a rather unsettling experience. The security guard on duty displayed behavior that was both erratic and intimidating. The lack of professionalism and genuine concern for guest safety and comfort was alarming. I believe that security staff should instill a sense of safety, not fear. Additionally, the overall customer service at this establishment left a lot to be desired. I would urge potential guests to carefully consider their options before booking here.

Our lanai was overlooking Reeds Bay for beautiful views of sunrise. The staff were very kind. The parking was free. It's close to the airport, but not easily walkable to downtown. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Great value. Also a lovely public park next to the hotel.

This is an older property, but it is well maintained, very clean, and moderately priced. Beautiful oceanside location that is a short drive from Volcanoes National Park. Our only contact with staff was with the security person who took care of our late check in for our one night stay. He was very helpful and pleasant. We would absolutely stay here again.

It's located right on the water, our room overlooked a nice tidal pool so we had the relaxing sound of waves to help us sleep. The room was clean and well maintained but the common area around the hotel could use some TLC. There's a tall chain link fence between the lobby and swimming pool that didn't make it in any of the pictures online. The biggest negative is that when airliners take off from the nearby airport they're REALLY LOW and loud.

Nice room, and the staff are very helpful. Two things though - A/C is badly needed, and the wi-fi signals are very week in the rooms, that is why they suggest connecting in the lobby. Nice view of the bay & pool from the balcony. The kitchen sink, silverware and plates, glasses, etc. was great to have, and the big fridge was nice too.

This was affordable and clean. We liked the kitchenette, microwave, full size fridge. I can see how this would be a good option for families and extended stay. The property could use some renovation, but with that the price would go up. $155-$175 a night here, versus $250-$350 a night at the neighboring fixed up hotels. The view from the 1st floor room was looking into the neighboring parking lot. The 2nd floor had an ocean view. The room with 2 beds were really good size beds.

Not to busy- very quiet & affordable with king size bed came stocked with full size refrigerator, microwave dishes cooking skillet- saved some money by cooking our breakfast and lunch and eating out for dinner. Lots of sightseeing close by and next to the beach

Even though the rooms have no AC it was a great place to stay !!! Microwave/refrigerator/ kitchen sink and even ceramic plates and utensils. Nice view !! Close to Coconut Island and Reeds Bay perfect for the kids to swim and jump off !!

The location of the property is great. Not far from downtown Hilo and within walking distance to a beautiful park. Parking was not an issue. It is a very old hotel. It does need a facelift. For me traveling alone and being out and about it was fine. The rooms do have a refrigerator and microwave. It was great I could save some money on dinning. The pool is not heated and is cold. I am 71 years old, that could be the issue too. The housekeeping staff as outstanding. Always smiling and so pleasant. The young lady at the front desk at night is so nice. There is no air conditioning. There is a fan in the room. I kept the sliding door open at night. Nice breeze and could hear the water in the bay. The airport is close. It did not bother me. Overall it was good for me.

It's an older building with charm. The room was very clean and maintained by housekeeping daily. There is a 24 hr. Laundry room on site and the staff is very friendly. Keep in mind that there is no A/C. There's a nice breeze that comes in off the bay and the rooms are equipped with fans. The views are beautiful and the surrounding area is very walkable with parks, shops, and cafes nearby. I will definitely stay again.

This place is old school Hilo - we felt at home. The bay side view from the third floor was fantastic, and we loved the balcony. The pool was very clean and looked out onto the bay. I appreciated the orchids and ginger around the property. Not having an elevator or AC was a little inconvenient, but overall we had a lovely stay. Big fridge and kitchenette was helpful. Fantastic location!!
