The grab-and-go breakfast was a nice touch, the room was a decent size by Manhattan standards, and the hotel was extremely clean, felt very safe, and was literally steps from Times Square. Two major subway lines are nearby as well — the N/Q/R is very close, and the 1/2/3 is only a couple of blocks away. That said, there were two things I really didn’t understand. First, a room rate should be a room rate. The additional $40/day facility fee felt excessive and unnecessary. Second, we arrived just 50 minutes before the standard check-in time. Our rooms were ready, yet we were still charged a $50 early check-in fee. Thankfully, they waived it for one room, but we still had to pay for the second. The room was already ready — it’s not as though it was going to be rented to someone else for those extra 50 minutes. Overall, this is a great hotel, but these pricing practices definitely soured the experience.
