Hotel Kia Ora Resort & Spa

Very disappointed for this price range to encounter such a old and not maintained hotel. When on all the hotels of this beautiful Island the bikes are free to hire. In this hotel you have to pay 15$ for 2h! The pool wasn’t usable for our all stay, it was brown. The staff is really nice but not trained properly. The furnitures in the room and the outside furnitures, sunbeds… date from 1990. The food wasn’t good and the prices are high. The snack menu is limited to 3 sandwiches. When you charge this kind of money you expect a good service and amenities. Which is really not the case here. The diving club in the hotel is 2 times more expensive than any other club on the island. Save your money for somewhere worthing ot.

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff, nice and quiet, beautiful setting, was able to book Blue Lagoon, massages, and winery tour all at check in very easily. Loved our stay and would like to return one day.

Kia Ora was nothing short of amazing!! The property is so beautiful, the employees happy & helpful, and the food is beyond delicious. We ate every single meal on site because it was just THAT good. They shuttled us to and from the airport which made things simple and rented us a car for a few hours to explore the motu hassle-free. We 10/10 recommend and will return!

Lovely resort. We had an ocean view hut with hot tub. We enjoyed it very much. We snorkeled right off the beach. There is only one restaurant. It's lovely but pricey especially the drinks ( averaging $15-25). Other local eateries are snack places. Not bad but limited menus. Don't miss snorkeling the aquarium and drifting the pass

Très bel hôtel situé au bord du lagon, bien intégré dans l’environnement. Nous avions choisi un bungalow avec piscine, vraiment très bien et plus intime que les bungalows sur la plage. L’endroit est un peu isolé, il faut impérativement louer un vélo si vous souhaitez manger ailleurs qu’à l’hôtel. Mieux vaut le louer à l’extérieur (en allant vers la passe de Tiputa, on en trouve facilement) car l’hôtel pratique des tarifs exorbitants et n’autorise pas l’usage la nuit ! Le restaurant de l’hôtel est cependant excellent. Nous y sommes allés pour plonger et sur les conseils de l’hôtel avons réservé au Blue velvet, centre de plongée directement dans l’hôtel. La surprise a été de découvrir que ce centre n’est qu’une antenne du centre voisin, le 6th passengers qui vient vous chercher en bateau (c’est à 3 min) moyennant une tarification de 30€ de plus par plongée ! Les plongées qui sont à 80€ au club vous en coûtent 110 à l’hôtel. C’est un peu honteux ! Autant le savoir… je ne sais pas qui blâmer, l’hôtel ou le club de plongée mais ça donne vraiment l’impression de prendre le touriste pour une vache à lait !

Der Bungalow war sauber, geräumig, mit einem großen Bad, separatem Wohnzimmer mit Couch, TV und Kühlschrank! Das Highlight ist aber unbestritten die große Terrasse mit beheiztem Jacuzzi inklusive Blick auf das traumhafte Wasser! Die Anlage ist super schön gestaltet und wirklich sehr weitläufig. Wenn man nicht in der Lagune oder der Insel unterwegs ist, kann man herrlich die Zeit am Infinity Pool oder am hoteleigenen Strand verbringen. Auch das Restaurant ist sehr gut, mit einer tollen Auswahl und sehr aufmerksamen Service! Von uns auf alle eine klare Weiterempfehlung - wenn Rangiroa dann Kia Ora!

Food was delicious. On Sundays and Wednesdays they have BBQ buffet and Polynesian musicians and dancers. Very entertaining. Room was exceptionally clean. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunset views. There is a gift shop, but no real convenience store, so if you want snacks the closest store, depending on the day is either a mile or 7 miles away(14 round trip). Long trek on foot or on a bicycle but scenery is beautiful, so not so bad. Staff at the resort and the locals we met were always smiling and helpful, made for a very enjoyable trip.

Absolutely stunning views! Crystal clear waters, full of a wide variety of fish, well-appointed rooms, hot tubs on the beach attached to the beach bungalows. Well-stocked with water equipment (snorkels, kayaks, etc.). Our entire family had a blast. Peaceful, serene environment! Staff were very helpful with arranging our tours and recommendations for places in town.

Wir hatten einen Bungalow am Strand. Das Hotel entspricht insgesamt nicht der ausgewiesenen 4-Sterne-Kategorie: die Bungalows sind abgewohnt, die Terrasse und die Terrassenmöbel ebenso, das Servicepersonal im Restaurant versteht und spricht nur eingeschränkt Englisch und versteht die Bestellungen nicht - offensichtlich ist man nur auf französisch sprechendes Publikum fixiert, entsprechend fühlt man sich als Gast zurückgesetzt. Das Essen (Frühstück und A-la-Carte-Abendessen ist nur durchschnittlich und überteuert. Insgesamt stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis überhaupt nicht. Der Hauptgrund jedoch, warum wir dieses Hotel auf keinen Fall empfehlen: KAKERLAKEN IM BUNGALOW!!!! Schon in der ersten Nacht hatten wir eine große Kakerlake in der separaten Toilette entdeckt und dies auch dem Hotel vor Ort gemeldet. Es wurden daraufhin gleich Maßnahmen zur Schädlingsbekämpfung durchgeführt und für den Fall,dass diese nicht wirken, wurde uns auch der Umzug in einen anderen Bungalow angeboten. Am übernächsten Tag hatten wir dann erneut mehrere Kakerlaken in unserem Bungalow. Allerdings kam dann ein Umzug in einen anderen Bungalow für uns nicht mehr in Frage, da wir ohnehin am nächsten Morgen abgereist sind. Fazit: Alles in allem keine Empfehlung!

Very friendly staff, property was clean and upkept and facilities were nice. Views were great with lots of fish. Defiantly would recommend trying this place. the snorkeling all around the resort is fantastic. Only negative i could come up with was the food was limited and taste came up short.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel Kia Ora Resort &Spa in Rangiroa and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the island. The service was outstanding from start to finish — the staff were warm, friendly, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The on-site restaurant was excellent, offering a great menu with delicious food and a variety of breakfast options that we really enjoyed each morning. The view from the property is absolutely beautiful — perfect for relaxing and taking in the peaceful surroundings. Our room was very clean and well maintained. For those who prefer more privacy and quiet, I’d definitely suggest choosing one of the villa with a private pool — they offer a lovely secluded experience while still being close to everything. If you stay in a beach bungalow, be aware that you can hear the ocean waves at night — it’s quite soothing for some, but sometimes can get a bit loud. Overall, it was a perfect mix of comfort, great food, and genuine hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!

Li am very dissatisfied of this hotel,and the diving . The hotel price is quit high and not very cozy . Not fit this price . And very dirty in the room, the vila is very old , toilet is very very very smile and dirty ! There are few cockroachis we saw in the room. How can they sale 700 usd ! The diving here also not very good we didn’t see any dolphins!

Das Hotel liegt in einer wunderschönen gut gepflegten Anlage direkt am Meer mit schönem Strand. Im tollen Restaurant sehr feines Essen und gutes Frühstück. Das Buffet war uns zu teuer ca. CHF 70.- pro Person ohne Getränke. Obwohl das Hotel bei unserer Ankunft nur ca. 1/4 besetzt war konnte die Reception unsern Zimmerwunsch nicht erfüllen. Gerne hätten wir Bungalow 3 gehabt. Bungalow 1,2,4, und 5 waren nicht besetzt nur 3 das wir wollten war vergeben. Für den Zustand der Einrichtungen Bad / WC, AC sind 525.00 CHF pro.Tag incl. Frühstück eindeutig zu viel. Die Wasserhanen oxidieren und rosten, aus der Dusche kam rotes Rostwasser etc. Gegen Bezahlung holte man uns ab am Airport mit einem alten Minivan ohne AC bei 32°C. Dass man nicht alles auf einmal reparieren kann ist uns auch klar aber den Preis auf die Hälfte herabsetzen wäre kundenfreundlich. Den Hoteldirektor konnten wir nie sprechen entweder war er nicht da oder an einem Meeting?! Schade für das sonst so tolle Hotel. Zum Schluss gab es dann doch noch eine sehr positive Ueberraschung. Check out time ist 11 Uhr und wir konnten das Bungalow bis 14.00h behalten. Den Transfer zum Airport mit neuerem Minivan bei gefühlten 35°C doch mit AC. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Rangiroa ist ein ganz spezieller Ort im Tuamotu Atoll.

Unacceptable find ants and cockroaches in the room; unacceptable has lights not working; whole hotel need maintenance. Unacceptable, pay almost USD1.500,00 per night for this. Exception were the drivers and few others staff that are very sympathetics.

Bella struttura nell’atolllo di Rangiroa. Non c’è il lusso dei resort di catena di Bora Bora ma per essere nelle Tuamoutou è molto confortevole. Piacevole spiaggia dove fare snorkeling e piscina dove rinfrescarsi. Personale molto cortese e disponibile. Un poco lento il servizio ai pasti ma in fondo siamo nel cuore della Polinesia. Villa con piscina ampia, comoda e ben tenuta. Buona la colazione e la cena con discreta scelta e prezzi corretti rispetto agli standard del luogo. Consigliata escursione alla laguna blu, all’acquarium per snorkeling e alla pass di Tiputa per vedere i delfini.

There were stains on the comforter and it made it difficult to sleep on. It looks like they updated the bathroom area and that was nice. A/C was perfect! There was also a lot of burning of trash and debris that brought in thick smoke everyday. It was nauseating.

My husband and I spent 5 glorious nights in a villa with private pool and garden. The villa was huge with a traditional Polynesian style design. We had an amazing private deck with a good size plunge pool, lounge chairs and a covered seating area with table, chairs and couch. Outdoor shower and bathtub set in a completely private walled garden. Truly fabulous, I honestly was relieved to NOT be in an overwater bungalow as they did not have nearly the peace and privacy that our villa had. We could see the swaying palms during the day and the stars at night. The staff were excellent, friendly and efficient and lots of activities to be arranged for you from the hotel. The full day Blue Lagoon tour by boat is a must, worth every penny. We enjoyed biking around the flat island (it was hot but no hills:) and exploring the small villages. Loved the Gaugin Pearl Farm tour and the wine tasting at Vin de Tahiti. The hotel will evidently undergo a major renovation soon adding many overwater bungalows which will greatly change the unique small resort feel. Too bad, as what makes this a special place to visit is that it is relatively unspoiled, not full of huge resorts.

We had a wonderful time staying at this gorgeous hotel for our honeymoon. Stayed one night in the beachfront bungalow and two nights in the over water bungalows. Mind blowing! Staff was excellent and helpful. We also got a couples massage which was fantastic.

Beautiful setting amongst groves of palm trees, with good swimming/snorkeling. Beach-front bungalow was great for lounging by the water (loved the hammocks), though wish room was better lit and had AC that worked in both rooms.

Grundsätzlich schönes Hotel aber mit katastrophaler Preis-Leistung. Es gibt große Unterschiede bei den Bungalows in einer Kategorie. Wir hatten zunächst einen Strandbungalow, der moderner eingerichtet war und eine Aussendusche und -wanne hatte. Da der Whirlpool defekt war, haben wir gewechselt und haben einen älteren Bungalow ohne Aussenbereich, aber am schöneren Strandbereich bekommen. Auf dieser Seite des Hotels sind die Bungalows sehr in die Jahre gekommen und abgewohnt, der Sanitärbereich roch streng. Darüber hinaus macht sich das Hotel die Abgeschiedenheit (zu Fuß sind es ca 20min zum nächsten, kleineren Supermarkt oder zu Restaurants) zu nutze, indem die Preise für Fahrräder, Motoroller und Leihautos der Wucher sind (etwa 2000CFP für ein Fahrrad/2h). Dass Getränke und Essen teurer sind, da man Logistik und Personalkosten drauf rechnen muss ist klar und wir waren uns auch vorher bewusst, dass die Verpflegung dadurch mehr kosten wird. Jedoch kostet ein Bier im Hotel etwa das dreifach wie im Supermarkt. Enttäuscht hat uns vor allem das Buffet des polynesischen Abend: für 8500CFP pro Person bekommt man vor allem Muscheln, Fisch und Käse, kaum Gemüse, und Getränke exklusive. Für Schwangere und Kinder gab es beim Buffet so gut wie nichts essbares. Die Tänzer und Tänzerinnen der Show waren jedoch engagiert. Generell ist das Hotel stark auf die (in der Mehrheit befindlichen) französischen Gäste ausgerichtet - kaum die Hälfte der Kellnerinnen und Kellner sprach Englisch.

The view from our ocean facing room with pool was amazing. The room did not have windows however which made it hot at night but also very loud from the waves crashing during a storm. Even with ear plugs it was loud. Would love to have had some more gluten free food options and the food overall was just ok. Didn’t see abetter hotel option on the island and the diving we were able to do made the trip with the stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Kia Ora while in Rangiroa for our honeymoon. The staff welcomed us early with complementary drinks and congratulated us, which we really appreciated. The suite was amazing, with the small swimming pool that we got to enjoy daily. The restaurant was very good, with one of the best breakfasts we have had in our trip, and the lunch/dinner options were wide. Every few days the hotel also had some shows for dinner. We also had a couple of activities via the hotel, which were very well organised and enjoyable. Will definitely come back here next time we're around!

Overwater bungalow was fabulous. Very pricey so we just stayed two nights there and additional nights in a garden bungalow, reviewed elsewhere. Still cheaper than Bora Bora. This overwater experience was well worth it for once in our lives. The ten units are laid out in a long arc around a big coral garden that is great for snorkeling though not many from the garden bungalows seem to realize it’s there. Literally hundreds if not thousands of fish of all sizes and colors. Watch from the dock, watch via snorkel, take your pick. And then you get to the room with that glass window in the floor to watch the show below your unit! A giant school of foot long fish seemed to hang out all the time under our unit. Except when the black tipped shark came through. Or the gang of small (young?) dolphins came around to pick off the weakest or slowest in the herd. Nature in the raw. Jumping off the deck to swim was fun too, this old bird got to relive his childhood. Didn’t skinny dip but you could do it here. Snorkeling with the sharks, fish watching from your room, it was worth the price. The exquisite room was for me just the icing on the cake, though others might value the room more and fish watching less. Very large room with king bed and single day bed was very modern very elegant. Stylish furnishings everywhere. Real luxury. Big bathroom with bath and walk in shower. All in all a very pampered experience with that unique fish watching as well.

The property was clean, beautiful, and well kept. The dock onsite was super helpful in not needing to meet at a different location for excursions. However…the dining set up is tricky. There are limited times the bar and restaurant are open. Also, there is a Polynesian night on Wednesday and sundays in which there is no other dining option available, and you must spend the $85/person if you want to eat at the resort. And there are not many other options on the atoll. Also, if you want to get bikes you have to pay, even on these Polynesian nights. This was crazy. We didn’t eat dinner one night because of this. There are also no snacks offered at the store. So go the buffet or don’t eat… Majority of staff is nice. There is however one older lady who works in the bar and front desk who harassed me and my family numerous times. She was disrespectful and rude upon arrival, throughout the stay, and when leaving. It seems like the staff are over worked and understaffed. Never saw any staff turnover. They all seemed exhausted. After spending upwards of $1000/night this unacceptable

Of the 5 luxury resorts we have been to in French Polynesia, this is our favorite because it is very nice, very quiet and very relaxing. While is it not as luxurious as the 5 star resorts in Bora Bora - it isn't as expensive or busy. We never waited for a table for a meal and always found open loungers by the pool. The staff were all gracious and friendly. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place with great food.

Rangiroa Kia Ora was incredible. From the room, to the food, to the service and the activities they offer. I had high expectations for our honeymoon and our trip met every one of them. As an LA foodie and having fairly luxury tastes and standards, I guarantee you will enjoy your stay! Make sure to work with the activities desk to plan an excursion to the blue lagoon and another to coral reef. Also have them set up a trip to the wine cellar and pearl farms. Give yourself some time to snorkel and walk the shore on your own (10 min walk up the street to Tiputa pass, you will see dolphins jumping in the waves). If you’re cocktail people like us, Taïna the bar tender is a beautiful person inside & out who goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. The hotel restaurant has something for every taste and is high quality, special shout out to the morning buffet!! If you’re looking for a sign or you’re on the fence, this is it, you will not regret your choice.

The location is beautiful and the hotel never seemed over burdened with too many guests. They did a good job with the food considering their access to supplies and ingredients (best, not to go into the tuomotus thinking you'll get the best meals of your life). The service was great. We even left our kindle in our room the day we left and Heidi (sp) made a point to deliver it to us (before we realized it was missing) at the airport just before we took off. We'd recommend the booking the "aquarium" and drift snorkel from the hotel even if you are an avid scuba diver. This was an easy, relaxing and exciting experience with lots of black top sharks, large eels, countless fish and very large spotted eagle rays with 100 feet (33 meters) of visibility.

The property was a beautiful tropical paradise. Such a quiet, relaxing, safe and calm atmosphere. I would definitely recommend anyone to go visit and make sure to stay in an Overwater Bungalow!

This is a very remote location, so best if you really like to dive and snorkel. Not many places to go to, or other restaurants. Blue lagoon trip was great on a quiet sea day. With the leaky wood loovered side windows, there was so much air leakage that we never got cool. AC was underpowered for that.

Heaven on earth, fantastic property and location close to the Tuputa Pass and daily activities for all! Love this place and hope to come back someday!

This was an easy, relaxing and exciting experience with lots of black top sharks, large eels, countless fish and very large spotted eagle rays with 100 feet (33 meters) of visibility.

Great beach, warm and clear blue water, lovely bungalow with hot tub, beach and sunset views, the best service of all the places we stayed - warm and friendly, fun Polynesian show, good food.

Beautiful area. Great diving. We really liked to resort. Food was just so so.

The property was clean, beautiful, and well kept. The dock onsite was super helpful in not needing to meet at a different location for excursions. However…the dining set up is tricky. There are limited times the bar and restaurant are open. Also, there is a Polynesian night on Wednesday and sundays in which there is no other dining option available, and you must spend the $85/person if you want to eat at the resort. And there are not many other options on the atoll. Also, if you want to get bikes you have to pay, even on these Polynesian nights. This was crazy. We didn’t eat dinner one night because of this. There are also no snacks offered at the store. So go the buffet or don’t eat… Majority of staff is nice. There is however one older lady who works in the bar and front desk who harassed me and my family numerous times. She was disrespectful and rude upon arrival, throughout the stay, and when leaving. It seems like the staff are over worked and understaffed. Never saw any staff turnover. They all seemed exhausted. After spending upwards of $1000/night this unacceptable

Très cher pour la qualité de la prestation. Restaurant moyen, petit conseil pour la plongée ne prenez pas le centre à l’intérieur de l’hôtel mais Top Dive à 2 min environ 3 fois moins cher et super équipe.

The most beautiful resort you can imagine. Off the beaten track but well worth the extra flight, with stunning variety of marine life right next to your room (overwater bungalow). Close to world-class scuba-diving spots also. Restaurant and bar were wonderful with highlight being cocktails at sunset and the Polynesian buffet/entertainment evenings. Service was always impeccable.

Très bel hôtel situé au bord du lagon, bien intégré dans l’environnement. Nous avions choisi un bungalow avec piscine, vraiment très bien et plus intime que les bungalows sur la plage. L’endroit est un peu isolé, il faut impérativement louer un vélo si vous souhaitez manger ailleurs qu’à l’hôtel. Mieux vaut le louer à l’extérieur (en allant vers la passe de Tiputa, on en trouve facilement) car l’hôtel pratique des tarifs exorbitants et n’autorise pas l’usage la nuit ! Le restaurant de l’hôtel est cependant excellent. Nous y sommes allés pour plonger et sur les conseils de l’hôtel avons réservé au Blue velvet, centre de plongée directement dans l’hôtel. La surprise a été de découvrir que ce centre n’est qu’une antenne du centre voisin, le 6th passengers qui vient vous chercher en bateau (c’est à 3 min) moyennant une tarification de 30€ de plus par plongée ! Les plongées qui sont à 80€ au club vous en coûtent 110 à l’hôtel. C’est un peu honteux ! Autant le savoir… je ne sais pas qui blâmer, l’hôtel ou le club de plongée mais ça donne vraiment l’impression de prendre le touriste pour une vache à lait !

The view from our ocean facing room with pool was amazing. The room did not have windows however which made it hot at night but also very loud from the waves crashing during a storm. Even with ear plugs it was loud. Would love to have had some more gluten free food options and the food overall was just ok. Didn’t see abetter hotel option on the island and the diving we were able to do made the trip with the stay.

Food was delicious. On Sundays and Wednesdays they have BBQ buffet and Polynesian musicians and dancers. Very entertaining. Room was exceptionally clean. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunset views. There is a gift shop, but no real convenience store, so if you want snacks the closest store, depending on the day is either a mile or 7 miles away(14 round trip). Long trek on foot or on a bicycle but scenery is beautiful, so not so bad. Staff at the resort and the locals we met were always smiling and helpful, made for a very enjoyable trip.

My wife and I stayed at the Kia Ora while in Rangiroa for our honeymoon. The staff welcomed us early with complementary drinks and congratulated us, which we really appreciated. The suite was amazing, with the small swimming pool that we got to enjoy daily. The restaurant was very good, with one of the best breakfasts we have had in our trip, and the lunch/dinner options were wide. Every few days the hotel also had some shows for dinner. We also had a couple of activities via the hotel, which were very well organised and enjoyable. Will definitely come back here next time we're around!
