The hotel was in a location that was walkable to the main tourist area of Coimbra. The hotel was lovely and had fabulous gardens to walk through as well as a lovely spa, indoor pool and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was suitable for lap swimming and it was a treat to exercise. The restaurants had nice options for dining. The history of Pedro and Ines was an added bonus.

The staff was very friendly and the service was efficient. The grounds were nice for wandering around. The food was good. Parking was free and two charging stations were on the property. The outdoor pool was closed and is being refurbished. The indoor pool required a reservation and a swim cap to use. We took taxi's to go to the university and back to avoid parking. We received a nice upgraded room, but the sleeping area was upstairs with the bathroom being downstairs.

Staff is great! Property is beautiful. Be mindful to ask for a room away from a main hallway to avoid a little noise. For us, even so, it was very nice. Note: if you want to swim indoors bring a bathing cap. Outdoors not needed but indoors we were limited by this!

Hotel is in a lovely location with historical reference. The actual hotel is a lovely building and mostly looked after. Im not really sure it fits the classification of real luxury. Our room smelt of damp and we couldn’t get rid of it. We didn’t complain as we were only there one night. I’m not sure whether it was because we were next to the gardens. Room was a good size and comfortable. Shower didn’t function properly. Breakfast was reasonable but not luxury standard. Same with the spa, just nice enough. The gym is sparse. The outside pool area is lovely. Front of House Staff were relatively friendly but not up to expectations in my opinion.

It’s an absolutely beautiful historic estate, our arrival experience was almost magical, felt like stepped into a movie scene. After the beautiful iron gate opened, we drove through a Copper-stone star-light lit driveway and arrived in front of this beautiful palace, and the doorman came to greet us, valet our car away and helped bring our luggages inside the building. We booked a spa room in the new building which is very plain and don’t felt like a 5 star hotel room at all, they were very kind and offered us a free upgrade with our VIP access (thanks to Expedia!) to the garden room that’s in the original building and felt much more luxurious and spacious. The room has its own exit directly into the enchanted garden and a small outdoor seating area. Breakfast were so fresh and delicious. And the property itself was very charming and full of story! It really worthy of 5 stars, the reason I only gave 4 stars is because of all the rules with using the amenities, the spa and the very nice pools opening hours (10am to 5pm) are so unreasonable and unrealistic for any guests to use unless you are visiting the hotel just to stay here all day. On top of that you have to make reservations to use those, made me felt that we are discouraged to use those amenities. Hotel really needs to take a hard look at those policies and make changes to it

We were lucky enough to receive an upgraded room to the Honeymoon suite of the lovers. A gorgeous 2 floor space which was a wonderful surprise on check in. We enjoyed the pool and spa facilities on our first afternoon before walking into Coimbra for dinner. The morning breakfast is excellent. You could not want for anything. I had an omelette each morning with a wonderful addition of items from the cold buffet. Endless cups of coffee all served with a smile. My husband used both the driving range and the pitch and putt so you could say we made good use of all the services on offer. The staff were all pleasant, helpful and smiling. Easy to walk into the old town - one of two ways depending on which bridge you wish to cross. We did loops - one bridge in and the other on the way back. We also had lunch at Loggia in the University complex and on paying we realised that the hotel actually now owns that restaurant also. A great place for a light bite while exploring the University. Valet parking. You could not want for anything else. Excellent hotel and amenities.

A great hotel, very nice rooms, although the first night the bed had a musty smell which I reported to the front desk. They had a crew come in the next day and deep clean and change the bedding. I think old houses have these issues. Downstairs rooms 1,2,3 are probably more likely to suffer from this. Pool was nice, breakfast buffet was fantastic with an omelette station. Really nice place in a very interesting town.

A great hotel, very nice rooms, although the first night the bed had a musty smell which I reported to the front desk. They had a crew come in the next day and deep clean and change the bedding. Beautiful hotel and grounds across the river from the city center of Coimbra. We reserved a garden view room which opened directly into the Romantic Garden. The hotel was an easy walk into the city center and the breakfast was very good and included a made to order omelet, pancake, and waffle station (tried the waffle which was very good). We did not try the onsite restaurant but did have excellent martinis at the bar. Would recommend staying here.

The hotel is a fashionable old mansion. Service from the receptionists was really professional. Rooms (ours were in a more modern building) need some upkeep and renovation, the same for the spa area which is a bit outdated. Beds were really comfortable and price / quality was perfect.

Restaurants and food quality was excellent. Our room in the new wing was minimal and bedding was minimal. Wish they had given us room in the original building. Reception was excellent.

The place has a lot of history and the staff is very nice. There were no VIP benefits at all. I don’t think they even knew about Expedia VIP. Breakfast is o.k. Bar service and tapas were very good. pizza o.k, pasta not so much. Because of an AD accommodation the hotel did offer a room in the “main house” however it has step to the bathroom and smelled stale and dusty, and the window was tiny , the room didn’t look inviting at all. The other rooms in the spa area were bigger and clean. It’s a long walk however to get anywhere from that part of the hotel. One minus which the hotel should invest in, Nespresso machines in the rooms! This is the first hotel we’ve stayed that doesn’t have Nespresso machines in the rooms for a morning coffee! (Nescafé with hot water is absolutely not an acceptable alternative) The reception, restaurant and bellboy staff were outstanding!

Beautiful property. Only challenge was accessibility. Great staff - especially the bar tenders. Dinner was top notch (did the tasting menu). Also close enough to walk to the center of town.

É super válida a experiência de se hospedar nesse hotel, por toda a história que ele envolve. O atendimento é muito bom, todos super solicitos. O café da manhã é ok, tem de tudo, mas poderia ser melhor, com itens mais sofisticados. O restaurante Arcadas é outra experiência à parte, que vale muito a pena!

The room looked nothing like the category we paid for on the website- it felt like we were in a dungeon. The )five star’ expensive dinner was a joke. They rushed through each course running literally through the dining room, throwing down bad food and bad wine hardly even with descriptions and so fast we could hardly understand what they said. It was horrible, laughable.
