Our room looked literally NOTHING like the charming photo - we had a single and a double bed in a quite old fashioned room. No air con. Heat blasting in the windows. Which opened, so that's good! Still nice though. Very old fashioned and charming. Oh god and the elevator is VERY small, so if you dislike small spaces... but the bar and bar staff rock! And front desk guy was lovely.

This is a well placed hotel with great access to the beach. Parking was easy and check in fine. I was disappointed with the 'gym'. Cardio equipment did not have power, there was an abandoned piece of equipment and I dont think anyone should work out there alone, no one would know you were there. The room was comfortable although everytime I used water, there was a loud noise from what I think was a water tank? Decor felt quite modern. Restaurant staff were super polite and it was clean.

Average old hotel. Large room with good size bed. Bathroom was small and the toilet took forever to refill making a noise for ages after a flush! Breakfast was good - full English breakfast with plenty there. Friendly staff who were very helpful. The parking is tricky - you need a local app to pay, there are no machines at the front of the hotel for your permit! We had to park down the street in the meter parking area until 9pm. Then parking was OK without a permit until 11am at the front of the hotel. It would be good if parking was included in your booking somehow. It’s OK for locals but difficult for overseas visitors.

On the whole ok shame about the lift breaking down twice and having to walk to fourth floor. Shower not great also cold tap hot water came out. The bar limited on wine. The hotel staff friendly and happy to help. View from window was lovely over looking the sea.

Receptionist was great and helpful, but..... Place is very tired and need of some serious refit. I haven't seen separate hot and cold basin taps in hotels for years. Shower performance very poor. restaurant menu extremely limited- decided to go out. I guess it was very nice 20-30 years ago!

Overall an okay stay, but let down in two areas. First I always book somewhere with a gym to keep fit whilst I travel. The gym at Muthu is a dark cupboard under the stairs where the staff have to walk through to check cctv and other things. It’s a mess to be honest. Second, and only something I noticed whilst leaving on the last day. The cleaning team prepare the fresh sheets and towels for each room before departure time and leave them on the floor outside each room. Always great to find out that the sheets you’ve been sleeping in have probably been sat on the carpet in the corridor 🙃

We enjoyed our stay at Westcliff Hotel. On arrival your receptionist helped with the on street parking as we were having a problem with the Ringo app. Staff were helpful and curteous. Our room was clean apart from black mould around the sink and edges of bath. The top of the wardrobe was very dusty. We were going to put our suitcase there. It would be nice to have more compimenary milk and coffee provided.

The experience at this hotel wasn’t great. The staff were friendly but our room didn’t have any toiletries or iron/ironing board in it despite pamphlets to the contrary. I phoned down to reception and the toiletries were provided, the hot water in the shower didn’t seem to work, another call to reception and we were told to keep the hot tap in the sink and the shower running at the same time for 10 minutes before it gets hot, which worked but it such an awful waste of water during this drought of a summer. By the time I noticed the iron was missing I lacked the motivation to make another call to reception. The sheets had some rather nasty looking stains on them, as did the sofa in receptions. There was loud music coming from somewhere in the hotel until about 3.30am which made for a terrible nights sleep, not to mention the noisy pigeon population that had made the dingy courtyard our frosted windows looked out upon, another source of unwanted sound. Floorboards above very creaky and thin walls meant it was very easy to hear doors slamming shut in the morning.

This hotel was extremely disappointing. The room was dirty, poorly maintained, and felt very rundown. Pigeons could be heard cooing right outside the window early in the morning — no netting or barriers to prevent them. The shower only worked if I turned on both the sink and shower taps at the same time, which is unacceptable. No bath mat made the floor slippery and unsafe. Towels were limited and the in-room refreshments were poor — no milk and out-of-date biscuits. The one positive was the receptionist, Kieran. He was polite, professional, and helpful. I sincerely hope he moves on in hospitality, away from this establishment. I paid over £100 for one night and expected at least basic standards. Unfortunately, this place failed on almost every level. I won’t be returning.

We were quite disappointed with the hotel tbh sadly. We only stayed one night, so out up with it. The location was close to Cliffs Pavillion or we would have complained or left if we were staying longer. The initial things was the inside of the lift door. It was filthy. The carpets on landing were dirty. Our room door dirty. My initial view of the room I saw the desk, which had marks and black stuff over it, which I scratched and came off. I wondered why the cleaner didn’t manage to do that. The general cleanliness in the room was ok. However there was a chip l fr under the desk, the walls were marked..just needed a clean. Marks on the chairs which we didn’t use, window seals needed a wipe over. Bathroom was clean, looked fairly new. Towels were lovely and clean, although as we left, the replacement bedding and towels for our and other rooms were just left on the dirty carpet outside doors! Breakfast was okish. Cooked breakfast wasn’t that nice but edible. One 4 piece toaster for all guests eating. Food was constantly being reloaded but our new food in top, so sausages were rock hard at bottom. It’s such a shame tbh, as it could be such a lovely hotel. Staff were lovely however. Very helpful and lovely people.

Had to wait ages for someone at reception to turn up, then she went off to help another customer. Lift was not working, so lucky only had to go up one set of stairs. Room was ok at first look, but shower had black mould. Hairs in the bed, pillows were old and floppy, mattress was so soft, you sank into it to the point of back and neck ache the next morning. Carpet had paint stains on it. Floors creaked badly, heard upstairs walking all night. Fire door had big gap of 25mm underneath. Radiator didnt work properly-either too hot or too cold- very noisy. The hotel is in need of some refurbishment, the mattress on the bed was also quite worn. The staff are super friendly we couldn’t fault them at all. If you want a cheap hotel for the night then this should be ok !

It was disappointing that there were no bath towels in the room and it was very hot (the window doesn't open) and the fan provided was tiny and not fit for purpose. The room had sea views which was lovely.

Had a lovely overnight stay. Didn't spend too much time in my room or at the hotel as went to a wedding reception, but I found the room comfortable and staff helpful and friendly. Only found the hotel noisy due to other people being noisy in their room and the corridors late into the night, but the windows were pretty soundproof.

Pretty run of the mill room. It did the job. But it was boiling when I arrived. I turned off the radiators and opened the small window, it was still so hot when we got back.

Hotel should be shutdown. Receptionists and Manager have no idea about customer service. Bed was rock solid. Still in pain 2 weeks after being home. Radiator screamed at you and sounded like it was going to explode. Bathroom was sweaty but bedroom was cold enough to keep drinks at fridge temperature. Breakfast I'm so glad I didn't pay for, £89 for 4 days is how much they charge for breakfast. Which is ridiculous with the amount of cafes and pubs that serve breakfast in the area The only helpful people we interacted with was the night porters

The hotel overal was okey, nice family room, good location for shopping, walkable to the sea site. The minus was the hot water which you have to wait like 10 mins and you have to constantly run water to get warm/hot, which in mine opinion its waste of the water and the boiler should be change at that stage. At the front of the reception we have slight struggle to get hold as was no one at the desk and no ring bell or anything to be able get attention. By the way we didn't hear when we check out from the receptionist words " I hope we see you again", instead we heard " okey, bye" which put us off more to the hotel.

Thank you for a lovely stay. Receptionist was welcoming, helping me with the paid parking for the road outside (worth signing up to one of the parking apps / online platforms required before arriving, especially if arriving on your own). Would recommend.

Had to wait ages for someone at reception to turn up, then she went off to help another customer. Lift was not working, so lucky only had to go up one set of stairs. Room was ok at first look, but shower had black mould. Hairs in the bed, pillows were old and floppy, mattress was so soft, you sank into it to the point of back and neck ache the next morning. Carpet had paint stains on it. Floors creaked badly, heard upstairs walking all night. Fire door had big gap of 25mm underneath. Radiator didnt work properly-either too hot or too cold- very noisy. Ambient music played throughout till late, could be heard over tv in room. Didn't bother to stay for breakfast as did not feel the need to be let down anymore. Great location, staff polite enough when there.

So convenient. 2 min walk to the Pavillon for our show. Lobby and dining area very nice. Bedroom could do with updating but clean and comfortable. Great value, good breakfast included. It’s a very traditional hotel in a lovely, scenic landscape. It also provides a lot of entertainment for youths. It is within walking distance to the station, the High Street and it’s by the sea with a wonderful park in front of it.

The surroundings is lovely right by the beach the lady who served breakfast was really lovely and so was the lovely breakfast very nice filled me for the whole day. The reception staff were very friendly aswell. Very nice hotel x

Average old hotel. Large room with good size bed. Bathroom was small and the toilet took forever to refill making a noise for ages after a flush! Breakfast was good - full English breakfast with plenty there. Friendly staff who were very helpful. The parking is tricky - you need a local app to pay, there are no machines at the front of the hotel for your permit! We had to park down the street in the meter parking area until 9pm. Then parking was OK without a permit until 11am at the front of the hotel. It would be good if parking was included in your booking somehow. It’s OK for locals but difficult for overseas visitors.

Receptionist was great and helpful, but..... Place is very tired and need of some serious refit. I haven't seen separate hot and cold basin taps in hotels for years. Shower performance very poor. restaurant menu extremely limited- decided to go out. I guess it was very nice 20-30 years ago!

We were quite disappointed with the hotel tbh sadly. We only stayed one night, so out up with it. The location was close to Cliffs Pavillion or we would have complained or left if we were staying longer. The initial things was the inside of the lift door. It was filthy. The carpets on landing were dirty. Our room door dirty. My initial view of the room I saw the desk, which had marks and black stuff over it, which I scratched and came off. I wondered why the cleaner didn’t manage to do that. The general cleanliness in the room was ok. However there was a chip l fr under the desk, the walls were marked..just needed a clean. Marks on the chairs which we didn’t use, window seals needed a wipe over. Bathroom was clean, looked fairly new. Towels were lovely and clean, although as we left, the replacement bedding and towels for our and other rooms were just left on the dirty carpet outside doors! Breakfast was okish. Cooked breakfast wasn’t that nice but edible. One 4 piece toaster for all guests eating. Food was constantly being reloaded but our new food in top, so sausages were rock hard at bottom. It’s such a shame tbh, as it could be such a lovely hotel. Staff were lovely however. Very helpful and lovely people.

Our view from our window was 4 pigeon carcuses been there a long time as your see from pictures inch of bird poo under 1 inch of one of the dead birds . The room was basic and comfortable . Breakfast was shocking waited ages for food to even be brought out when It did the bacon was microwaved couldn’t even cut the fat the eggs tasted awful couldn’t even eat it . The toaster was a household toaster that was burning the wall paper and about 8 people waiting to make toast in a 4 piece toaster . No sauces for breakfast . Birds were told about the day we arrived was told it would be sorted still there in the morning . Complained and only received half our money back . Even though it was a complete health and safety problem . Took many messages from hotels.com to even get them to give that refund . The hotel should be checked by environmental health it’s shocking . We traveled from Brighton so couldn’t leave as by the time we arrived and checked in it was to late to drive children home . Will never return

Absolutely shocking experience and even worse handling afterwards. We stayed at Muthu Westcliff Hotel from 7–10 August 2026 and paid £451.08 for a family room. During our stay we found live insects in the bed which we believed to be bed bugs and recorded them clearly on video. Between our family we subsequently developed well over 100 bites. We also photographed the bites extensively. The cleanliness of the room was appalling. The pillows were stained and the toilet had heavy brown ingrained dirt/scum around it which, in my opinion, had clearly not appeared overnight. What has made this even worse is the hotel's response. We reported everything immediately, supplied evidence and explained the huge disruption caused when returning home. Clothes and belongings had to be bagged, isolated, frozen or heat treated and our luggage quarantined because we were terrified of bringing insects into our house. The hotel told us the complaint had been escalated to the "highest level" and that the General Manager would deal with it on returning from annual leave. Despite repeated emails, we have had no meaningful contact from the General Manager at all. No phone call. No proper apology from senior management. No resolution. No refund. No compensation decision. No professional pest-control report despite specifically requesting it. We even formally asked the hotel to preserve relevant evidence and confirm exactly what inspection or treatment had taken place in the room.

The hotel itself was very nice. It was misleading tho as they said there was limited parking on site there was no oarking on side it was parking with a oermit on the road outside which it says in the reception that its £8.50 its actually £8.86 but that was for the whole night till 11am. I qas dissapointed with the service from staff as they had little time for you always chatting amongst themselves. I got a hi and info on the parking then a "theres you key to your room" that was it no expkaining how to get there where the bar is or anything and then qhen i left i handed the card in the lady was chatting to another member of staff said thanks that was it. The lady at the bar in the evening was friendly but looked fed up. Our room was ok except the pillows were lumpy and solid. I had a bad headache in the morning. A good job only one of us wanted a shower as 1 towel was available and also the bin had rubbish in it. I expected more for the money i paid. The room was clean and large, bathroom was tiny but clean and the hotel looked very nice. Hospitality was rubbish tho and the pillows were for the bin.

Nice large clean room. TV remote not working so had to get reception to fix. Wasn’t working again in morning. Had fan in room which was great during hot weather, Breakfast was great. Very close to Cliffs Pavallion theatre. Parking was fine once you downloaded the app to pay. £8.60 for overnight parking.

Despite earlier reviews, I found the staff most helpful. The room was large, clean and the bathroom was refurbished with a new spa bath and good shower. Breakfast was excellent and I would stay again.
