Farol Hotel

We stayed here about 11 years ago and it has gone down hill. Service was horrible. Pool service is run by young, young kids and it is not really pool service; one must go to the bar and order yourself. (The only good pool guy was Enrique!) They have a gorgeous bar and there is a no bar tender! You have to ring a button to call for service and multiple times no one arrived???? This is a 3.5 star hotel at best.

The Farol hotel is a beautiful property with easy access parking for guests. Overall the property was very well kept, clean & staff were attentive and informative upon arrival. The restroom in our room could’ve been cleaner in the tub/shower, the towel rack was hanging off the wall, & when we needed extra towels housekeeping did not come. After a second call the receptionist handled it & apologized for the inconvenience. We enjoyed the pool, the lounge chairs, & the outdoor bar during the evenings. Unfortunately throughout our entire stay the indoor bar was closed. Some nights it was too windy to have a after drink cocktail outdoors so it would’ve been nice if the indoor bar was available. The espresso martinis were delicious! Overall we would return the stay was comfortable & accessible to nearby restaurants.

They were spray painting stains in the carpets in the hallways and stairs during our stairs. It looked worse after they painted it. The railings around the pool were rusting and the concrete area was cracked and looked old.

First of all a big thanks to all the team. Nothing was too much trouble. Location right on the rock’s fabulous if you have great weather which we did! Our bedroom and the pool area let it down. Bedroom needed a refurbishment and the pool area in need of a smartening up as a 5 star does require. It was still an enjoyable stay and would visit again.

It was a lovely hotel but for the price, there were aspects that were less than 5 star. The pool area is kind of dated, and service at the pool was mixed (ie you do your own towels etc). The staff was great. Dinner in the main restaurant barely edible. For the money, it was a mixed bag - it seems like a potentially very good hotel that is in still working out a bunch of kinks. But again, the staff was great.

Perfect location around 5 minutes walk from Marina, 10 minutes to town and 15 to train station. Friendly staff, clean rooms and lovely seawater pool. We even saw dolphins from the hotel twice.

The hotel had everything I could ask for, Beautiful views, a pool, close to town and wonderful staff. I had an excellent outdoor massage near the sea. Also, the included breakfast was delicious.

Located in a prime setting this extended house offers an outdoor saltwater pool, outdoor bar and some seating (indoor bar looked nice but closed?). Our room was lower floor, quite small and good bed, a chair, a desk, mini bar (€€€s), good wardrobe, safe etc. Great shower in a small black tiled themed bathroom that needs a detailed tidy up. Barbara was lovely, super helpful, engaging and good at the job. Thanks to her. The evening restaurant staff, dinner quality and wine outstanding. I asked to see the chef post dinner to offer thanks for an outstanding and fab meal. The walls are filled with art and objects de art all of which are for sale, quirky and contemporary interior... see pics. Overall nice experience but at almost 400+ euros a night B and B will research further. Best wishes and thanks.

The location and views of the sea from this property are amazing. The outside pool/lounge area and bar are what make it the most special. The pool staff were wonderful! It’s a quick walk into town yet you have all the conveniences you need from great food to spa massage and it’s very relaxing from the bustle. The room was a little disappointing however as it was very basic, and bed was far too small for 2 adults. Some staff were amazing and others fell short by being cold and seemed bothered. Would recommend to anyone but could use some minor updates to be considered a true 5 star hotel.

We loved the interesting rooms and decor, but mostly the waterfront location! Just wish the pool had been heated so we could swim.

We were greeted by the front reception team (Nuno and Francisco) in a professional and friendly manner and they also provided us with many helpful tips for getting around and places they recommended for us to visit. The hotel is absolutely stunning with an expansive and dramatic view of the ocean from the lobby, bar and breakfast area each morning. The breakfast is full of healthy and hearty choices and has something for every taste. The hotel is spotlessly clean, convenient to walking into Cascais for charming stores, restaurants, museums, a castle visit and parks. It is also an easy walk to two local beaches, the Estoril casino as well as the picturesque waterfront. Easy access to/from Lisbon airport (half hour), bikes to rent, and the marina next door which also offers a beautiful place to stroll, eat and shop (and look at beautiful boats). The hotel itself caters to the desires of a luxury stay - we had a king bed that was very comfortable, plenty of pillows, a private patio walkup to the oceanside view, walk-in shower with full body jets, and a Nespresso coffee maker with daily maid and turndown services. Every evening the turndown includes new bottled water and cookies made in the hotel which are beautiful treats. We did not try the restaurants on this stay as there were so many choices we wanted to try in nearby Sintra, Lisbon and Cascais this time. It is a thoughtful, luxury hotel and we would definitely recommend the Farol Hotel.

Helpful staff, spotless rooms and great location

The property itself was very nice but the rooms were outdated. There was a horrible smell of sewage in our room; the wifi didn't even reach our room and everything was very old.

This hotel is probably the most beautiful hotel we ever stayed at. The staff was Absolutely amazing and accommodating with everything. They helped us with all our questions and offered assistance through the whole stay. My only complaint is the cleanliness. Our bathroom shower was clogged which we found out in the middle Of the night so we didn’t complain. The shower and bathroom were not as Clean as we would expect for 5 stars. I had water almost covering my feet while I showered which it’s not good. However, I can’t stress enough on how much this hotel was beautiful and the location is 10000000000/10000000000. Also let’s give a huge shoutout for the sushi restaurant they have where we ate the best sushi we ever had. I would totally recommend and go back as soon as we can! Would love if the cleaning part was fixed :)

I had a 3 night stay (with 2 different reservations) as you are not able to amend your reservation. The first room had a large amount of ants. The solution offered was to send housekeeping. I asked for a different room. The staff member made sure I knew it was an "upgrade" as if thats what I waa lookong for. I was put into a room that did in fact have a lovely view, however was directly behind the kitchen and seemingly had construction on the 2nd floor above my room. VERY NOISY UNTIL VERY LATE (1am). Because of the ants, they offered me the breakfast for the 1st day at no charge. Mind you, had I been to amend my first booking I would have added rhe same room package type. When this was offered to me, I voiced my concerns to the front desk clerk. This was to be my boujie hotel on this trip. I spent a lot of money for a fancy hotel that offered subpar accommodations. I will not return and do not recommend.

The Farol hotel is a boutique hotel in Cascais. The hotel is on the coast and it’s fantastic to sit in the lounge and watch the waves crash against the harbour wall. The staff are super friendly and efficient. We had a side sea view room. It’s good to open the door and listen to the waves going up the gully. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. The shower was big with different jets. We ate in the restaurant and the food for lunch and breakfast were of a very high standard. Even my handbag had a buffet.

A nice room but very small and dark with poor storage space.

Trevligt hotell på bra promenadavstånd till marinan och centrum. Bra service och god frukost. Fint poolområde om man är där när vädret tillåter. Vi blev uppgraderade till ett seaview rum vilket var fint men med det kommer att man får ljudet från havet som är påtagligt. Wi-Fi i rummet var lite svajigt.

Great location and comfortable room. Could use some more power plugs but otherwise great!

For €280 a night, the room was small, no view, and had low ceiling beams that I bumped into several times. The staff were pleasant and helpful. White tablecloth breakfast dining overlooks the ocean.

This hotel is in the perfect location, just a ten minute walk from the towns bars, restaurants and shops. The views are stunning. However, you certainly don’t get what you’ve paid for in terms of the rooms within the hotel! The room we had was very disappointing. There are other hotels in the area where you definitely get value for money but not here!

Kommen wir zu den Negativpunkten. Frühstück mit geringer Abwechslung, sehr lange Wartezeiten auf Eiergerichte, bis die kamen war eigentlich schon das gesamte Frühstück erledigt. Bacon scheinbar nur aus der Microwelle, nicht knusprig, keinerlei Röstaromen. Am Pool eigentlich die gleichen Gerichte, die man ansonsten auch im Restaurant bestellen kann, gutes Sushi, was mir aber gar nicht geschmeckt hat, war ein Burger. Völlig labbrig, kalt, die Pommes lasch und geschmacklos. Auf die Reklamation nur ein Schulterzucken. Zum Zimmer, klein, schmales Bett, total verbaut mit Dachsparren, so dass die zweite Person gegebenenfalls über den anderen ins Bett klettern musste, das Bad schön. Starker Geruch nach Abfluss, der aber nicht aus dem Bad kam, Ursache ließ sich nicht ermitteln, vermute die Klima?

I loved the view of the ocean from the room, the size of the room was large, and the poolside views were amazing. The food was also excellent and we had great service! This hotel was also in an excellent location, walking distance to town.

Rooms are noisy and staff at reception is great. Would visit again.

Great location and overall a very enjoyable stay. We especially loved lounging by the pool—it was relaxing and definitely a highlight. The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the customer service experience, particularly at the outdoor restaurant and day bar. The service was quite slow during our visits, and staff often seemed annoyed when asked for anything. I had to get up from the table to ask for water, again to order a drink and then again to ask for a bill. A little more attentiveness and friendliness from the team would have made a big difference.

Was an impulse booking to enlongate our honeymoon as we really didn’t want to go home Hotel was beautiful, setting was incredible & the staff couldn’t have more helpful 😊

Excellent location, beautiful pool and ocean view. Staff was very friendly and restaurant with complimentary breakfast was great. Only improvement would be for more/quicker service at the pool

The hotel is beautiful and close to restaurants and shops. Our room had an amazing view of the ocean. The staff for dinner is very attentive except The tall blonde waiter for breakfast. He is Very rude and disrespectful. I asked him for a cappuccino and it was served in a water glass. I asked him for a coffee cup and he laughed at me.

It is a small 5 stars hotel so we were expecting a great service but our experience was disappointing. We arrived tired and hungry after a long flight, they offered a pool/bar restaurant but we waited an hour for 2 appetizers, was too much!. They also forgot or got confuse making our reservation for dinner, so no restaurant available. Also, if you enjoy privacy be sure to let them know, my husband was trying to sleep when a man was inside our room without first knocking at the door, 10 minutes later, it happened again with a lady inside our room when my husband was taking a shower! And finally, if you enjoy a dark room to sleep well, the room #301 is not for you, the light from the hall get in through your door and it is a party inside your room, not kidding! One manager said sorry for everything but that was all. No a single courtesy for us at all.

The hotel was exceptional. Great decor and an excellent location next to the picturesque Boca do Inferno and close to the Cascais Marina. Also very close to several museums including the Paula Rego museum. The staff were excellent, friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. We had breakfast included in our package and the selection was very good. Lots of choice, fresh and tasty. My friend and I are already planning our next trip!

A lovely unique property with personality. Ground floor rooms with balcony are great for relaxing. A perfect location and great staff.

The most wonderful location, we enjoyed the sun and sunsets every day. Wasn't very busy, so we got to enjoy the space (travelled mid October). Breakfast was superb, with an amazing view. I can't wait to go back.

This hotel is just easy. Everyone makes you feel so welcome and looked after. There is an incredible team. Its position means it's quiet and away from roads and railway. And the uninterrupted sea views are beautiful. If we are back in this area we will definitely stay again. It's a 10-15 minute walk to all the restaurants which is good for an after dinner walk. Cascais is really lovely, so clean and safe.

The location is excellent, service is quick, very polite and helpful. Food and drinks at the restaurants and bar are good.

We had the most wonderful stay at Farol. The staff were so nice and so helpful, The fish at the mix was delicious along with the Sushi. In the evening we would have a Amarula at that was suggested by one of the staff at the pool bar which i highly recommend. I Can't wait to go back!

We walked by and saw the pool deck and outside bar area, and it looked like a scenic, quiet place for us as a couple. It was! The room was very cool - unique architecture with roof beams. Breakfast was included and was amazing. Buffet or a la Carte.
