Rochestown Park Hotel & Leisure Centre

Very large conference / wedding hotel in lovely suburbs of cork. Room very clean and comfortable. Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Gym and pool are probably a bit dated now but served their purpose well and we used them several times during our stay. Pool and gym area all very clean. Breakfast was table service only. Fruit and porridge was great. I was disappointed by my scrambled eggs - tasteless. A very large hotel which is not as busy now as it once was I imagine!

Perfect family stay, facilities are excellent and the family room is a good size for 4/5. We have stayed a number of times and consistently good each time.

Leisure center was in excellent shape and great quality

Food was good and room was comfortable. Unfortunately there were cracks in the bathroom sink and shower. The gym could have used a little more tlc and the swimming pool could have been easier to access. We were forced to purchase swimming caps just to lounge by the pool.

Nice modern hotel located outside congested city area. Large common areas.

This hotel is peaceful, has a good restaurant, decent comfort level and is extremely handy for the airport in Cork. I have stayed a few times now and I like that it has the pool area and steam room to use for guests.

Helpful staff, room was perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. Swimming pool is lovely.

Upon arrival we were barely greeted at reception. The room we received could not have been further from the entrance which was hard with two toddlers, bags and a baby. Not even an offer of help or an offer or a trolley to help us with our belongings. However, it was a lovely reception area. After the long walk to our room, we discovered the toilet didn’t flush, and had to press the button about 5 times for the toilet to actually flush which was a bit awkward. We decided to head down to the pool. Thinking it would be just down the hall to an elevator that would take us down to the pool floor. We were so surprised when we realised we actually had to cut across the lobby in our swimming gear to get to the pool. If there was an easier way to get to the pool, it was awfully confusing and unfortunate that we were not informed by any member of staff about the better route to the pool facilities. If the only way is through the lobby then anybody with children should be prioritised to stay closer to the pool. After arriving at pool reception we were informed it was €11.00 for a pair of arm bands- my jaw nearly hit the floor. €11.00 for a pair of armbands that are worth €2.00 at best not to mention them being a life saving device for my child should be free. After paying good money to stay in a hotel they can’t lend a pair of armbands? very upsetting. However, we enjoyed the pool- it was lovely. Having no plug sockets beside the bed was crazy. Staff did bring an extension up.

The Good: - Good location with easy access to shops, major roads. - Quiet - Staff - Restaurant is ok (bit pricey) The bad: - Some parts feel very dated. - We had an infant who is crawling at the moment. Floor in the room was filthy as judged by her hands. - The shower was horrible. Drain was blocked (we rang about it around 16:30, was only unblocked at 21:30), and it only ran a full pressure. - Toilet seat bumpers were dark yellow which meant it wasn't changed in years. - Lift had exposed cover plate showing wires behind it. Overall very poor.

Hotels in Cork are pricey, and this was one of the cheaper options. It’s a bit far from the city centre but really close to the airport, which was perfect since I arrived late and there was no public transport at that time. I had two one-night bookings and asked if I could stay in the same room—they told me to check again in the morning, but I ended up keeping the room anyway. Would’ve been easier if they confirmed it when I checked in so I didn’t have to pack everything again. Getting to the city by bus isn’t super convenient—you have to walk 10–15 mins to the stop, but I knew that beforehand. The room wasn’t cleaned properly (found a used towel in a cabinet), the bathroom light switch was almost broken, and it was a bit noisy from the hallway. Overall, it’s okay for the price and good if you need quick access to the airport.

The room was well-maintained and clean, and the separation of the shower area and bathtub in the bathroom allowed me to relax fully. The hotel restaurant we visited for dinner had a wide variety of seafood dishes, which made choosing fun, and they were all delicious.

Staff were great and the main hotel is also a lovely building. Lovely reception area. The bathrooms of the bedrooms unfortunately let the hotel and stay down very badly. We arrived to find a bathroom that smelled terribly. We quickly identified the issue as the shower drain. Arriving late at night for a one night stay, we were too tired to face a room change and flushing the shower tray with copious shower gel and water did the trick, temporarily at least. But the shower tiles and grouting were shabby and weathered, the bathroom fittings are generally clapped out and the dripping toilet did not flush properly. The bedrooms and bathrooms need reinvestment and upgrade to warrant a four star stay. The bathrooms are very much three star facilities at best. Surprised to find the breakfast area also that could have operated buffet style doing table service only. It made the breakfast selection feel limited and less relaxed. The laminated breakfast menu made the experience seem a little cheap. Toast arrived when we didn’t particularly want it to come and it went cold. Reinstate the buffet!

We stayed here the night before a funeral, so we didn’t really use the facilities too much. We did eat at the bistro/restaurant and that was very nice. The room was a decent size, a bit dated and shabby looking but clean and comfortable. I would go again for a one night/last minute trip, but I wouldn’t take a holiday here for a longer period.

This was my second day here, and like I mentioned in my last review, I was given the same room again. It was pretty clear they hadn’t cleaned it properly — my drink marks from the day before were still on the table.

L'environnement est beau, établissement en retrait de la route, dans un petit parc boisé, parking aisé. Hall très beau mais dès que l'on quitte le hall pour aller aux chambres, déception !!! moquettes vieilles et usées, dans la chambre , bout de lit effilochés, coussins, fauteuil tachés, draps de bain avec sans doute restes de taches de sang, les rideaux gris/noir de crasse et déchirés, enfin soit notre chambre n'avait RIEN à voir avec celle de la photo!!! je déconseille....

The room was not very clean and was poorly maintained. The toilet bowl was not fixed to the floor properly. The cooked food served at breakfast was overcooked, dry and tepid.

Rooms are tired. Bed and pillow were like a rock. A labyrinth of hallways. Poor breakfast choice - a version of a La Carte. Pool closed to kids at 7pm. Nothing close by. Disappointed all around a room was nothing like the photos. Would not recommend.

Over all our stay was lovely. Bed was very comfortable and both bedroom and bathroom were spotless. Our only issue was shower was a bit on the small size.

Mattress poor, not up to standard for hotel price point, otherwise nice hotel

My wife had stayed in the same hotel in December and had an amazing room so we booked it for the family. The room shown on the website was nothing like the room we were given! The lead up to the room smelt of Damp and the carpets were thread bare and patched in places. The rooms carpets were black in places and covered in stains. The bathroom shower was small and the water pressure was awful so unusable. The toilet flush was hanging off the system and the whole bathroom was dated and old. The sheets smelt musky as if they had been stored somewhere damp. There was no bedside table so we had to use a chair! The room had two plugs which were on the other side of the room to beds. We complained and the staff were very good and moved us to a better room free of charge. The staff throughout the stay were excellent. The hotel itself needs updating, the windows are ill fitted and a lot of condensation. The aircon was so noise and didn’t even cool the room. The food is nothing like is advertised on the posters and website and at best was OK. The whole place needs an update and modernised. We won’t be staying again unless a lot improves. But credit to the staff who were excellent, they just don’t have much to work with!

Good: The roll-away bed was very nice for us and they delivered it quickly and for free. Staff was very courteous. Bad: The toilet wouldn't flush properly (physically broken toilet mechanism), so we had to go down to the lobby of the conference center to use the toilet for anything serious. In fairness, we didn't complain because we didn't want to go through the hassle of changing rooms because we arrived late enough that the kids were exhausted and it was going to be a whole thing of making them unmake, fold-up, move, fold-out, and remake the roll-away bed and everybody just wanted to relax, so we decided just to deal with heading to the lobby. Everything else just sort of falls into the ok but not great category. No electrical outets by the beds, so everything had to be charged across the room. Everything is old and dated. TV is small and not very smart, but we had access to the side of it so I connected our laptop to it and we had what we needed for the kids. Cooling of the room (which is always a huge deal for us) was adequate, but we were there in October and we opened the window the crack that was allowed and turned the fan on full blast and the room stayed cool, but I can't be certain that you would consider that A/C, so your mileage may vary in the summer.

The room was clean but tired. I could hear the person making noise in the room next door. Needs renovation.

We stayed here over night, and it had everythint you needed for that length of stay. The room was spacious and the bathroom excellent. However, the room can get a bit warm at night. Overall, it was worth the amount asked for.

All good but the hotel is in need of a refurbishment.

This was by far the lowlight of our trip so far. Terrible signage on where to go for registration, tv didnt work, main lift broken down one day, alternate luft was in hallway with lits of trash, returned to room at 3:30 and had not been cleaned, asked for clean glasses and was told they just rinse them out?? When we called the desk for help, it rang and rang and was never answered. Called outside number and was still not answered. Had to go down to desk to get help. We would never stay here again.

Unexpected poor first impression had to wait over 30 mins to check in with one person on reception with 12 people waiting. I had to ask for more staff to attend which eventually they did. Other than this all else was excellent as ever, great room, great staff, great food

Stayed here before and all ok. But this was a terrible experience. We were in bed asleep when the ‘guest’ next door arrived back at 2am & proceeded to talk then shout loud waking us as we then hat to endure 1hr of this noise. I called reception and soon I heard a male voice talking to them. About 30mins later they stropped talking so loud. Ah well we then were able to sleep but at 8am…. 5 hrs later they started again for another hour. It was a wedding or event party I think but that is no excuse for their bad behaviour. I raised the problem at reception next morning and basically I received a ‘we will look into this’. The word sorry wasn’t said. My real test was when we checked out after 2 night…. Of course no record of our poor experience and no comment. Time to get better training if you want me to stay there again

Room not ready on arrival ! First night had to ring reception as music was still being played at 01:45 ! Had to contact reception on the second afternoon that my room had not been made up ! Finally I received a wake up call on my final day at 7 am ( which I did not request ) all up a very poor visit

Unfriendly and grumpy receptionist on check in. Bathroom badly needs updating. Lounge/Bar staff very professional and friendly.

Overall the stay at the Rochestown Park was pleasant. The amenities are very good, including the pool, spa, gym and restaurants. The outdoor area for dining or having coffee is particularly nice, even on those colder days as it is covered with heaters provided to stay warm. The location is very good. Close to the nearby shopping center in Douglass, along with walkable bars, shops and coffee spots. The room was clean, comfortable somehwere id be happy to stay again. Only issue was a faulty light bulb which flickered for the duration of the stay without being fixed by maintenance. Had to leave it off which made doing some work harder. Apart from that, a pleasant stay.

Location is great for airport but a little away from everything else, but beds, staff, facility was tops . Wonderful full size bathtub.

The main entrance to the hotel is very poorly signed, if indeed at all. I parked outside what I took to be the entrance but it may actually have been the entrance for the health centre. Had a long walk to find the reception area. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable though the phone in the bedroom didn’t work. I asked if I could order fish and chips for dinner but substitute mashed potato for the chips. It was difficult to understand the waitress but the gist of what she said was that she didn’t want to upset the chef by asking! So I had the chips 🙄. They weren’t nice. Very generous portions of good thought. Breakfast was good and it’s brought to the table.

Very comfortable hotel, functional but without character. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Easy walk into Douglas for places to eat.

Stayed 3 nights there. Room was very good and hotel has a very good gym, swimming pool and spa. The dinner at the restaurant was good and very reasonable price. The only bad thins is the breakfast. It doesn't worth for the price. Very limited choices and there is no buffet service.

Stay here on a regular basis when visiting Cork on business, clean room, tea, coffee, water, room safe, iron and board, hair dryer. Dinner great value.

Some of the rooms are old but maybe they are upgrading as when we requested that we needed a walk in shower we got a room that had a newer bathroom & bedroom. Food was great in the restaurant! Breakfast is sit & be served with a good selection on the menu. I stayed here for an event & the food at the event was also great so hats off to the chefs!

Room was ok but clean. Missing tv remote but used laptop for watching tv. Food in bar was only average. Breakfast also was average. Staff were friendly

The layout of the hotel is very weird. We had dinner there and whilst the steak was good everything else wasn’t. I sent the chunky chips back as they were cold and they looked reheated. The replacement chips were hot but they were also reheats. Everything was frozen and not worth the prices charged. The room was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. All in all I felt it was definitely not worth the price I was charged
