Wardonia Hotel Kings Cross

A small and basic room, reminded me of a ships cabin. Narrow stairs and corridors would not suit those with mobility issues. Luggage room useful as I could leave my bags before and after my stay (door not locked though so not very secure) Had everything I needed for my overnight stay but definitely not a destination in itself…. Get what you pay for

Room was smaller than expected but as only for one night stay was adequate. If we stay again would ask for a lower floor as no lift in premises and stairs narrow to carry up suitcases.

The rooms were clean but micro small. I had to carry two cases up two minute staircases. No joke at 75 years, no one offered any help when I asked about any lifts!

This hotel has super staff and clean rooms and is affordable. Location to St Pancras and Kings Cross is perfect for layovers - but the luggage store is not secure, no dining or vending facilities at all and the access to room is tight, steep and narrow. Feels more like a hostel than a hotel.

Decent no-frills budget hotel in a very central location. I was in a room on the top floor which was fairly quiet. The room was small, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast. Luggage storage free (but no tags, and anyone can access luggage room). Would return.

Rooms small and with dated decor and furnishings, but clean and with comfortable beds. Rooms are packed in, and some challenging stairs to be tackled, especially while carrying luggage. Reception staff highly variable. First one very friendly and helpful, second one largely indifferent, third one unhelpful, rude and verging on hostile. Can only assume he is somehow related to owners, because can't imagine he would be employed otherwise. Luggage room not secure. There are signs saying that you leave luggage at your own risk, and they mean it. Door is not locked, so literally anyone could walk in and take your bags - especially if the unhelpful guy happens to be on reception. This hotel was an option of last resort for us, and it should be for you too. Could be good with better staff and a bit of TLC on the decor, but currently just an adequate place to stay a night or two at a lower cost.

Excellent location near Kings Cross/ St Pancras. Room was a bit small for two people with luggage, so read room descriptions. Hallways can be a bit small for those with large pieces of luggage. Be prepared for stairs. Bathrooms were on smaller size. Size of accomodations due to hotel being in renovated historic buildings, so just be prepared. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We had no complaints.

A cheap and cheerful place to stay with great transport connections. The staff are lovely. No lift so ask for a ground floor room if you have a heavy case!

Surprisingly quiet neighborhood. Good room for the price, small, but doable. Reasonably kept up to date. Needs a deep clean though, our shower was quite mildewy. Good experience though, would return.

Great location and fab frontage, just a hop away from kings Cross/St Pancras station. Reception warm inside and welcome good. The walk to your room is a bit grim if I am honest, the carpet is stained and it has hostel vibes. So I was really anxious that the room would be awful. However, the room was fine for a base. Had everything you need, was clean with a good shower and comfy bed. But it is a tight squeeze in both the bedroom and bathroom (so if youre a larger person/or couple you may struggle...). You get what you pay for and I wouldn't hesitate in returning for a night or two, but if you want/expect 5 stars then you need to book that. Thanks for a great stay!

Clean enough room but dingy and tired. Website disingenuous impression given. We were in basement so dark. Terribly stained communal carpets. Difficult staircase. Great location. Room clean and comfortable spacious shower room.

The bathroom smelled like sewage. My guess is the drain needs to be cleaned out or something.

The rooms have been reduced in size to maximise the profit. My room 014 in the basement was difficult to get to as I’m a pensioner as the stairs giving access are so steep and corridors very narrow. The smell in the room from the drains was utterly disgusting. There’s not even enough space to use an ironing board. It’s not the cheapest of places but I expected better for the money paid.

Great location, clean and comfortable stay I had a great stay at this property. The hotel is in very good condition, exceptionally clean, and located in a super convenient area — within walking distance to many attractions but also close to public transportation. It’s the best of both worlds. The room was spotless and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Just keep in mind that the rooms are on the smaller side, and some of the stairways leading to them are quite narrow — something to be aware of if you have large luggage. Other than that, it’s a great spot and I’d definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very convenient for transportation services, Kings Cross and St.Pancras. We had booked a triple room that turned out to be very small, second floor with no elevator and narrow staircase. The room had no dresser for storing clothing, so for four days we lived out of our suitcases, fortunately the suitcases fit under the beds. There was no control for the heating in the room, the bathroom seemed to be constantly at 30 C. We kept the bedroom window open at all times, and we still slept on top of the covers. This room would have been passable for one night, not for an extended stay.

Tiny room, but otherwise a great location it you are using Eurostar...comfy bed, but I was a solo traveler and had trouble opening my suitcase and the toilet can make you claustrophobic... For me it was a lot of money for what I got... But being a block from the station is nice

Very convenient location at a great price. The room was clean and well kept. The staff was generally kind and welcoming, and they have a luggage room where we could leave our bags early before check in time. All that said, the rooms and bathrooms are very small (which we knew ahead of time), the bath fan was very loud, motion-activated, and could not be turned off, and it was very hot on our room (on the top floor) which made it hard to get a good night's rest. Opening the window helped, but with a noisy street, we traded heat for more noise. This is probably an excellent place to stay for one or two nights, but I don't know if I can recommend it for longer stays. For the price and the great location, it's hard to complain, but the hot room and noise make it hard to recommend.

Great to be so close to kings cross - comfy enough if a little small (might be difficult if you have a lot of luggage). Quiet. Clean. Good enough value for money.

Pros: The hotel's location is its major asset, just a minute or so from the King's Cross tube stop, in Zone 1. One of the employees is at the reception 24/7, and prompt housekeeping is provided daily, although no sheet changes after more than a week's stay. Cons: the single room I was in was minuscule: no table, no closet (just 3 hangers right over a small shelf), no fridge, no air conditioning: it became a serious challenge to put anything anywhere without constantly moving my very few things around. The single bed was barely long enough for a 5'8 person (if you're taller, you'll burn your feet against the heater in the winter). Walls are thin, so you'll hear any noises or voices from the adjacent rooms. The hotel sends you an email suggesting early check in is possible, but this was not the case for me, as the employee's response to my request was to book the night before; there is a luggage room but it's unattended.

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The heat in the shoebox of a room at night was unbearable my friend and I couldn’t even get changed comfortably the room is so tiny and really misadvertised. It’s not clean either when we told reception about the heat we were told it’s our fault for coming in the summer time ha! So bad we laughed. Great location but the floor outside st pancreas would be just as ideal and probabaly cleaner

Nice hotel but stayed on top floor in heat wave and room was too hot. Fan did not help. If you get hot, please ask for a room on a lower floor. Otherwise room was clean and beds comfy. Small double room is too small for 2 people.

I have been coming to London for over 30 years and I wish I had discovered this hotel sooner. The staff are so friendly, helpful and so professional. I have to commend the lovely receptionist who could not be more helpful. But the biggest acelade has to be given to the cleaner. I don't think that my hotel room was never that clean and I even seen the nice lady dusting the didorail in the stairs!! Incredible dedication to her work well done. The hotel just had new carpets fitted and the hotel looked very well looked after. I am looking to book there in October and years to come!

I had a great stay at Wardonia Hotel. My room was modern and was cleaned with towels replaced every day. Staff were polite and professional. The location is excellent - down the street from King’s Cross and the tube station. I would stay here again!

As an overnight stay the Wardonia was perfect. I emailed to say I would be late checking in and they came back straight away. The person on reception was very polite and efficient - overall very good

Room was quite small but clean, and the bed was comfortable, good shower. Someone on reception 24 hours and staff were pleasant and helpful. Very short walk to Kings Cross and St Pancras, and several regular buses into central London. I'd definitely be happy to stay here again. Perhaps it would be better to have a secure locked luggage store? libdon

To be fair, the warning signs were there and I ignored them. 1. The long list of one star reviews. Surely just a bunch of hard to please perfectionists…..wrong! 2. The complete lack of security. Just rock up to the front desk and state your name. No need for any ID. Passport? Who cares, you’re in! 3. The abysmal customer service. One old dude more interested in watching Titanic on the TV than communicating in any way. Honestly, who hasn’t seen Titanic the movie by now. 4. I was given the keys to room 014. If this ever happens to you, you poor unfortunate soul, it’s the room dreams go to die. I could actually feel the floor sinking as I walked across the room, my weight causing the mouldy floor boards to sag. The bathroom smelt of actual raw sewage. 5. Pleading for another room was a challenge. (Mainly because we were up to the good bit in Titanic when the ship, like my expectations, were sinking fast). I was given room 411 and I grabbed the keys like Kate Winslett and a floating plank. Yes, it was on the 3rd floor with no lift. Yes, there were mouse traps outside the door. And yes, it came with its very own set of windowsill pigeons (window needed to be opened in order to breathe/sweat) but I had seen and survived room 014 and I was not going back. So to sum up, if you are looking for the worst hotel in London, some place that you can tell your friends about and laugh, then this hotel is for you. Just make sure you ask to stay in room 014.

Honestly the room was fine, even if it was even smaller than other equivalent hotels. The room was old, but decently kept. The lack of AC was fine. And most of the staff were very agreeable and helpful. The area was not my favorite, but that's not the hotel's fault. However, we had the misfortune of encountering one of the people at the desk quite a few times, including both times we checked in (we had split our stay in London). This person was unbelievably rude and condescending. I don't mean just curt, but outright unpleasant. This man managed to basically insinuate that he thought we were stupid while trying to communicate that the manager had "selected us for an upgrade". I have never heard so many sarcastic "my dear"s directed at me by a total stranger. We were never anything but curteous and respectful, and he treated us appallingly. Also, the second check in we came in and said "Hi! We had a reservation?" To which he replied "No you don't. Check in is at 3". I mean, we know? But normally people check the reservation before allowing us to leave the bags until chek-in time? He didn't bother to do that. I considered giving the hotel 1 star, but his collegues were always very nice. I, however, cannot recommend this hotel if this man is at the front of it. The worst customer service I've had in my life, and I've stayed in a lot of hotels. Props to the rest of the staff, though.

Perfect for what we were looking for and a quick walk to Kings cross station! If you get put in the bottom floors, they’re VERY narrow stairs. Wasn’t a problem for us, but if you have big luggage you might struggle a bit. Overall loved my stay and the staff are TERRIFIC!

Our room flooded during intense rain, with bed being completely wet, even under the blankets. Staff could have cooperated more in this situation, as they said there was nothing they could do. It took us some time to persuade them to give us another room.

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Euston and St Pancras. Location was perfect for me as I arrived on the eurostar from Paris and had only a very short walk. Also left on train from Euston which, another short walk.

Super-easy location - five minutes from the front of St Pancras. Easy check-in. Everything's quite narrow but everything worked. Room was good (simple) and my brief stay was fine.

The Wardonia was perfect for me. I wanted somewhere cheap to stay in London for a few days. Great location near to St Pancras and Kings Cross. Quick to London landmarks and Thameslink to Gatwick. The room was basic but had everything I needed.

Steps away from Kings Cross. Lots of dining options in the area. It's a busy area so it's possible to be disturbed by noise. Fair warning, the rooms and bathrooms are very small. Beds were comfortable and shower had good pressure.

The property was clean and safe. The reception staff and house keeping staff are good and polite, however, a refrigeratpr and microwave facility within the building would make it a perfect place to stay.

The hotel is just a couple of blocks from Kings Cross station.Easy to get anywhere in London. There are several dinning options near. The room was small, but it was clean and had everything we needed. The staff was great, Lucas in particular, (front desk) was very nice, always with a smile. Would recommend, and stay here again.

I stayed for 6 nights. The hotel is okay and you get value for your money. It's about a 5 minute walk to Kings Cross which is great! Lots of places to eat as well. The hotel doesn't offer breakfast, so I ate at the station where there are many places offering breakfast. The room was small but that was to be expected. In the morning I placed my suitcase on the bed and when I came back later in the evening I placed in on the floor in front of the door. You can also hear everything your neighbours do. You'll know what they are talking about, what they are watching or which music they listen to. The bed needs replacing. The right side was definitely lower than the left side so I made sure to sleep against the wall so I wouldn't roll out of bed. The room and bathroom were very clean though which was nice! If you are spending more time in the hotel then this is not the right hotel for you, but if you just need a place to sleep and want something close to the station then it's ideal!

The rooms were small but clean. Unfortunately the pub next door has closed, so it was a couple block walk for any dining options.

The room was not very clean. The bedsheets were but the floor was not. The room was incredibly small. The bed was redicuslously small, you cannot expect two people to sleep comfortably on a bed with a width of 120 cm. The windows can't be locked from the inside and there is no breakfast available. If we were planning on staying longer than one night, we would probably have sought another place to spend the night.

The hotel is very convenient if you are catching a train early in the morning at Kings Cross or St Pancras. The double room and bathroom were clean. The room is on a small side for 2 people and 2 adults but manageable for one night. The bathroom is very narrow and small. The are plenty of restaurants/cafés in the area.

So easy to walk to transport and eating places also a pub attached but not noisy
