This lovely lakefront property exudes old style charm, with clean and comfortable rooms and lots of free activities on site, from tennis to canoeing to cycling to shuffleboard. Private beach and access to Lake Joseph and just a short car ride from Port Carling. Would have loved to try the restaurant, but there were no vegan options. Perhaps that’s something the hotel could consider offering in the future.

Resort fee actually includes things you can use such as cross-country ski and snowshoe. These equipments are however quite worn out. Some are unusable. Fixing or replacing some of the equipment will make the experience better. The room does show sign of age. But it's clean and comfortable. I'd stay here again.

Wonderful updated property. Grounds are beautiful and love that there are canoes and kayaks for use. Food is very good. Only minus is the bar/ lounge seating area needs to be expanded especially for rainy days. But it’s a wonderful place to stay .Staff are friendly and willing to help.

I had a great time at Sherwood Inn. My spa experience was exceptional. I had a facial with back massage by Abby and she was fantastic and very professional. My only complaint was the walls were paper thin and the room was noisy. I also felt the prices in the restaurant were high. Impressed with the water front and free use of the canoes and kayaks.

Lovely grounds, trails etc. Nice view of the lake from most rooms. Staff were friendly and attentive. For older patrons or those with disabilities, keep in mind there are no elevators. Access to some rooms involves 3 flights of stairs.

Ruben was awesome during the check in process! Thank you for accommodating our late check in. The inn is very lively and there is a lovely restaurant on-site offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also have a cute firepit and also a trail for cross country skiing and snow shoeing! The only complaint is not enough parking spaces as it's winter and we had trouble finding parking near Maplewood building.

We loved this resort! Our family stayed there during Thanksgiving week in the fall. The view from the balcony was amazing, and waking up to the iconic Muskoka landscape was awesome. Clean room. The breakfast buffet was always fresh, and the amenities and activities were super convenient. Big thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, from the front desk to maintenance and the restaurant/bar lounge. Much enjoyed our dinner and their Spanish coffee. A short drive to various attractions in Muskoka. We'll definitely stay there again.

The room was great. The view was great. There are areas of concerns. There was absolutely no parking available for the two nights we were there. The upkeep and maintenance of the property is lacking. The eaves are literally falling off and there are random holes in walls. Other than that, it was a good stay.

The Sherwood Inn is hilly to walk around on. The parking is far from the entrances. It isnt wheel chair accessible. There are little ramps everywhere but stairs, minimum 5, to get to your room. The bathroom was closed in quarters and i could barely get through the door to close it because it us so close to the sink. The shower was nice but needs bars. The windows needed cleaning badly. And on a positive note, the room was so quiet, so cozy and bed was so comfortable that i fell asleep right away and didnt awake all night, like I would at home. Lastly, the staff were impeccable! Kudos to all of them! Respectful, kind, extraordinarily helpful and friendly! I felt right at home. I did not have enough time to enjoy the amenities. The fire going outside in front of the reception smelled so good. Overall, I found it to be a good experience! I paid more than i usually would for a small room like that but it was a special event, a concert in Bala!

Had an amazing stay at Sherwood Inn! The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. Loved the beautiful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere. Balcony facing lake was the icing on the cake. The food was delicious, and the activities were plenty. Felt like a true getaway from the hustle of daily life. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful resort experience. Cheers!!

The inn is nestled among the trees in a great location. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet; there are lots of food options (even for gluten-free), the food was tasty, and the value was very good. There is a tennis court that we wanted to use but it was busy, so we didn't get to try it. Our room was spacious and comfortable enough. It was located above the outdoor patio though, so it was fairly noisy until around 11:00pm. My only real complaint is that we wanted to use the ceiling fan in our room and it was extremely dirty on the top, so we did not.

The property was literally falling apart. Half of the eaves trough on the three story building was hanging dangerously off. We were supposed to have a Lakeview but instead we couldn't see past tree, shrubs and brambles not maintained. There were old windows and bits of old rusty maintenance equipment for our view instead. The carpet in our room was so worn and stained. The outdoor lampposts were in a sad state missing lightbulbs. The stairs to the beach were broken and blocked off with a makeshift painted "Danger" sign with tree stump cutoffs and caution tape dangling about the sun chairs. Random stuff out like hockey nets and a standing boxing bag? Six staff members watched us try to figure out where the entrance to our building was and never bothered to be helpful. They missed the details like in the morning I had to try and find a towel to dry off the Muskoka chairs so that we could sit. It is a sad and tired property. Perhaps the owners have other plans for the property and they are just waiting for it to fall down. It was disappointing because it was not in this state when held by other owners.

We don't travel with pets so N/A. Lake view from 3rd floor slightly obscured by big trees but that is the way in a forested setting it is at a lake!! Nice little walking trails around the property. Nice jetted tub in our unit BUT the shower stall was the smallest I have ever encountered. I could use it, if I moved carefully but I know and see a lot of people who could not use it at all!!

Nice location. Room was somewhat hard to get to for an elderly person. Room had poor seating and lighting, One mattress squeaked whenever the occupant turned over.

The resort is nice and generally quiet. The ground are beautiful and the lake is stunning. We stayed at the Maplewood building, which is old but charming. The room was clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi was a welcome bonus especially after a long winter hike. The only negative thing for me was the constant humming noise that was coming from the ice machine located directly below the room - if you are sensitive to sounds like I am, room 532 might not work for you. Other than that everything was great!

Had a very relaxing time! The dining room is excellent! The furniture and beds were not too comfortable.If you are older or with health issues make sure to book on a lower floor .Otherwise a lot of stairs.

This hotel has everything you need. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with a nice view. You can do Kayaking and canoeing at no extra fee, it has a nice beach in the hotel if you just want to seat and relax. Staff is really friendly. We really loved it.

Booked a weekend 2 nights with my pet via Expedia informing them of my pet. When i turned up there were no pet friendly room available. They tried to sell me an upgrade for $60 per night pls $54 cleaning fee costing close to $200 extra. I thought it was unreasonable and unfair so we left in very terrible rain and stormy wearher on the Victoria weekend, drive 3.15 hours to get back home. I have stayed there wirh my pet a couple years ago. They refused to refund me and said only expedia can handle the refund. I emailed Expedia and they said only the inn can approve the refund me and they refused to do so when contacted. Back and forth emails and a waste of time. I email sherwood inn and they finally refunded ONLY $124 out of $303. I find this to be unfair, u professional and extremely poor customer service. Why did i need to pay for an upgrade? The inn surely had rooms available but why asked me to pay extra? It was not my fault. The customer service is terrible. My experience at rhe inn the first time with amenities was good but will not go back.

Beautiful piece of property. Amazing location. The under staffed lounge was quite apparent on our last night. It took much longer than it should have to receive our meals, desserts and finally the bill. Other then that we absolutely enjoyed our time at the Sherwood Inn.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sherwood inn. The room was nice and bed was comfy. We didn’t find the staff to be overly friendly and the restaurant staff was not friendly. We didn’t have a reservation but there were a lot of tables available when we arrived and they didn’t fill up while we were there but we were met with attitude and the hostess rolled her eyes at us when she had to seat us. My husband and I found this property rustic and quaint and peaceful! All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming - we had to call maintenance on the first cold morning of our stay because it shut off and would not go back on. They had someone come to our unit within 5 minutes and it was fixed!! During those extreme cold conditions all of the staff were smiling and lovely. This property also had an open fire burning just outside the door of the Inn and it was very welcoming and inviting to sit around that fire and chat with other guests. If you are looking for rustic and outdoorsy and peaceful, this place has it all.

One suggestion for the resort is to offer a continental light breakfast- muffins bagels yogurt cereal coffee tea juice for a modest price. Only option was a $24 breakfast buffet. Dinner serving staff were great. Property overall was a nice cottage getaway.

It was our first time visiting Muskoka and we had a blast at Sherwood Inn. The staff were so welcome, thank you Katerina for showing us around and explaining all the benefits of the property. We also loved having dinner there and Rebecca was wonderful! We will definitely be back.

We loved this resort! Our family stayed there during Thanksgiving week in the fall. The view from the balcony was amazing, and waking up to the iconic Muskoka landscape was awesome. Clean room. The breakfast buffet was always fresh, and the amenities and activities were super convenient. Big thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, from the front desk to maintenance and the restaurant/bar lounge. Much enjoyed our dinner and their Spanish coffee. A short drive to various attractions in Muskoka. We'll definitely stay there again.

The Sherwood Inn is hilly to walk around on. The parking is far from the entrances. It isnt wheel chair accessible. There are little ramps everywhere but stairs, minimum 5, to get to your room. The bathroom was closed in quarters and i could barely get through the door to close it because it us so close to the sink. The shower was nice but needs bars. The windows needed cleaning badly. And on a positive note, the room was so quiet, so cozy and bed was so comfortable that i fell asleep right away and didnt awake all night, like I would at home. Lastly, the staff were impeccable! Kudos to all of them! Respectful, kind, extraordinarily helpful and friendly! I felt right at home. I did not have enough time to enjoy the amenities. The fire going outside in front of the reception smelled so good. Overall, I found it to be a good experience! I paid more than i usually would for a small room like that but it was a special event, a concert in Bala!

We have went to Sherwood Inn the past 3 years, we love it! Beautiful location on Lake Joseph. Great location close to Port Carling, surrounding area has lots to see. Reasonably priced. An amazing, relaxing escape we look forward to every year!

Stayed for 2 nights with family, location is great, only issue is rooms are little outdated and there is no elevator, we got room at 3rd floor, so you have to drag your stuff to 3rd level. Staff is very nice, did not try breakfast but they have buffet breakfast from 8-11 and charges 25$ plus taxes. I will definitely stay again, area around property was very nice, 8 minutes drive to port carling and 7 minutes to Bala.

My wife and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary here and will want to come back. This is a Perfect Muskoka property and location for a comfortable couples getaway. The facility has a great restaurant and pub/bar if you just want to stay and relax vs driving to town. If you do want to drive to town it’s a short 5-10 min drive to Port Carling.

Older but beautiful resort. Cozy and tranquil. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Amazing food, but the one drawback is the price of the food. Especially breakfast, recommend bringing your own breakfast food or be ready to pay big $$$ every morning a continental breakfast that is normally free at other hotels.

The breakfast buffet is excellent. The dining room menu is excellent, i especially enjoyed the fish entrees. The ambience of the inn is relaxed, old 50’s, ‘dirty dancing’ genre. Yes the rooms are weary but forgiveable with the overall experience. Beach is excellent. Staff are friendly and helpful. Had a great time meeting other guests sitting around the community campfire.

When it says lake view room, don’t expect a lake view. It’s not worth paying the extra $$$ And you are not able to control the air conditioning in your room. It’s was stuffy and I didn’t want to open the window I the evening when it was cooler because there was no screen. Also, it’s always nice to receive a friendly welcome at the front desk,this needs some work!

What a great gem in Muskoka! The hotel is cute with fantastic staff! The grounds are very well kept and the food in the restaurant was great! We’ll definitely be back!

Everything was perfect! The weather was superb!. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. A very relaxing environment over all. This place holds a seemingly rustic elegance.
