Our King size bed was lovely. The staff at the Lounge bar and at the Windermere Pub were fantastic- so attentive and professional and accommodating. Our complaints are as follows: One of the bedside lamps didn’t work. I asked for someone to please fix the lamp and when I checked in about the lamp, the front desk said they sent someone to the wrong room. There was a light out in the chandelier. There was a loud alarm going off in the room beside us. The pool was out of service due to ‘an accident’. The staff didn’t know where the steam room was. It was not worth the money.

Our stay was ruined by a wedding which should have been communicated. Upon arrival the hot tub was cold and both the saunas & steam room were off. During our second night, all amenities were closed for a wedding interrupting out afternoon plans, and reason for booking. Our room was directly over the reception hall which meant loud music and disruption until 2am. Managmetn communicated that they expected complaints, awareness should have been provided given people's likely reasons for coming to Windermere.

Amazing place for families with kiddos! Tennis, pickleball, canoeing, kayaking, nice outdoor pool and jacuzzi, sauna with lake view! Great breakfast included. We absolutely love it and will go back again!

This was a last minute getaway for us and we are so glad we chose Windermere House. Beautiful building and property. Loved that all the amenities were available even though it was April. Hot tub and cold plunge pool was amazing and then relaxing in the sauna. Dinner around the fire with other guests in the evening was so nice. Only 1 night spent there and we will be back!

We stayed at the Windemere House while on a vacation to visit family. Lots to do for young and old or simply relax on an adirondack chair on the front lawn and enjoy the view of the beautiful lake. The hotel has canoe or kayak for you to enjoy exploring the lake. Small beach area and lake swim area with picnic tables for a great picnic. Pool, hot tub and sauna were great fun. Pickleball and lots of other activities available for all ages. We all, including our nephews had a great time. Buffet breakfast that we enjoyed on their large covered veranda was an excellent way to start our day. Such a beatiful resort in the Muskoka area.

Highly recommend! The top resort in Muskoka. The food is delicious in both the restaurant and the pub. The amount of activities available and included in the stay, makes for a very fun time up north. Whether you are visiting with kids or as a couple, the place has everything. We really enjoyed the newly renovated pool, hot tub and saunas, and cocktails in the lobby bar.

We come every year. The new owners had made great improvements! Food is way better, way friendlier, more helpful staff. And the redone pool area with hot tub, saunas and new patio is fantastic!

Beautiful property though needs some work. Pool & hot tub was dirty. The staff at the bar wanted to leave and close early made last call 9:20pm. Fire alarm went off for almost 2 hours but no proper compensation for the disturbance. Breakfast staff were awesome, and the food was good. Bed comfort was good.

Outdoor heated pool, whirlpool, and sauna - tranquil, serene, and amazing views! Quiet roads to get your steps in! Our dining experience with the buffet breakfast and the Windermere Pub was elevated! The light lager? 4 Fathers beer was a nice touch, too. The resort was very much focused on attention to detail and it delivered! It is a gem!

Wow, just wow! What a wonderful and special place Windermere House is, located in a stunningly beautiful part of Canada. Our lake view balcony room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable with a view that you could never ever tire of seeing. All the staff were extremely friendly and the service we received was exceptional. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, the buffet breakfast was superb and we ate each evening in the Windermere Pub, again the service and quality of food were wonderful. We feel extremely lucky to have stayed at this very fabulous hotel.

Beautiful grounds and location however rooms are becoming weathered. Our bathroom was not clean. Hair all over floor and tub, hair was obviously pushed around with a mop, but gross. Wall spattered with dirt and baseboard trim covered in dust. Staff at check in and restaurants/bar were excellent.

Overall a beautiful resort! We booked very last minute as a night away from the kids so think we got the last room. It was a little musty smelling but overall the grounds, service, and food were all delightful. Great little beach for a quick dip before dinner. Live music and scenery were great. We will definitely be back with our kids!

Beautiful property, but needs some refreshing. Carpet in the hotel room was stained and really should be replaced. looked like a dog peed on the floor. Since the hotel allows dogs, this may be the case. Staff were great, views are wonderful, water pressure in room was a little more than a dribble. So some positives and some negatives. Overall, it was a nice stay.

The other was a rather loud convention taking place, when the convention guests were talking loudly outside our room (which was situated near the elevators) quite late at night (guessing about midnight). Tip: Ask for a room far from the elevators and lobby,

Windermere retains its magic for visitors. The staff is hard working and friendly. Accomodations continue to need updating. Our room was comfortable and clean but the TV and air conditioning unit need to be replaced. We look forward to returning to Windermere.

We had the great pleasure of staying at Windermere House this July. Originally built in 1870 and rebuilt after a 1996 fire, the resort blends historic charm with modern comfort. It’s like stepping into the past, without sacrificing modern amenities. Sitting on the front lawn, it’s easy to imagine the guests who’ve stayed here over the last 150+ years. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern, though a second sink and a stronger shower stream would’ve been nice. Still, everything functioned well. Rooms are cleaned daily. We enjoyed outstanding meals at both Russo (the main restaurant) and the more casual Windermere Pub downstairs. Both offer outdoor seating and excellent service. The lobby bar is also a great spot for drinks or snacks, designed to match the hotel's classic look with updated touches. The breakfast buffet was excellent: fruit, smoked salmon, eggs, sausage, French toast, seasoned breakfast potatoes, and more. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The pool area was a highlight, with plenty of loungers, Muskoka chairs, and shade. We didn’t try the barrel saunas, but they looked inviting. We also enjoyed canoeing, tennis and pickleball all included at no extra cost. Kayaks and paddleboards are also offered. Our favourite spot was the veranda, perfect for relaxing with a book and taking in the stunning lake view. It’s a premium-priced resort, but worth every penny. We look forward to returning.

This is a beautiful resort, with the perfect view. We loved the pool, hottub and saunas. The complimentary breakfast was amazing. This resort is about a 30-mins drive from Huntsville, where the closests restaurants and shops were. So you need to plan ahead. The rooms at the resort were old, bathroom was very small and very thin walls between each room. I was annoyed they allowed dogs which prevented us from being able to sleep due to barking. The resort was full, and there were people that were not staying at the resort to eat at the restaurant, so parking was an issue and we couldn't get a reservation in the restaurant for their Thanksgiving dinner.

Overall, it was a great experience. Only one thing I wasn’t very impressed was that I was able to hear everything from next door in my unit. Luckily they were very respectful people who didn’t make any noise after they noticed they were being heard from us vice versa.

The room with balcony we had needed to be refurbished , our friends room was bright very nice carpet bright, light coloured furniture as well as new style curtains. Our room was dark dull and tired looking for the price we paid we expected the room to be much better for the price we paid. The restaurant service was below average, other hotels with for less than half the price we paid we received a much better restaurant service . The view and the hotel from outside looked really very nice so we are greatly disappointed with what we got inside. I doubt very much that we would ever consider going there again nor would we recommend it to any of our friends.
The room with balcony we had needed to be refurbished , our friends room was bright very nice carpet bright, light coloured furniture as well as new style curtains. Our room was dark dull and tired looking for the price we paid we expected the room to be much better for the price we paid. The restaurant service was below average, other hotels with for less than half the price we paid we received a much better restaurant service . The place is wonderful, I couldn’t ask for a better hotel, quite, romantic, great outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi, outdoor sauna, fire pit, mini cozy beach. I was celebrating my anniversary, they were nice to decorate the room and offered me a free wine, that was so nice of them. But what’s worth mentioning is whatever you do don’t book your trip through a third party and make sure to avoid room 314, book directly with them. They have their room reserved for anyone who book through Expedia or booking, and that’s what I got, although I paid extra I was disappointed by the room I got, it was the only room with a single window, low natural light and a bit dark, I ended up paying only half of the price.

This property is good if you plan to be out of your room enjoying all of the many activities provided by the hotel. I was looking to have a quiet night by myself, and it was hard to find a quiet place. The only quiet place was my room - which looked like the furniture was purchased from an estate sale in the 80's. There was no central air, just a massive wall unit which also looked to be from the 80s. I paid over $500 for this room. I was looking forward to using the saunas - two of them didn't seem to be heating up, when I got the third working - the sides are made of glass so I was on view to the rest of the hotel having dinner - plus a live singer (who was wonderful)...but it was hard to relax and feel comfortable sweating in front of 100 people eating dinner. All in all, a nice experience, but made for families and friends - not solo travellers.

We stayed for three nights. At 325 per night I do not see the value. Pool was limited in seating and could be updated with seating. Too many young families if your looking for a quiet adult location. Room 305 was small, no dresser/ night tables and lighting for night time reading. Water pressure for bathroom sink was a trickle and hot water for shower was only present for one of us and that was mid afternoon. Do not stay in room 305 not worthy of the price of 325 per night .

Our King size bed was lovely. The staff at the Lounge bar and at the Windermere Pub were fantastic- so attentive and professional and accommodating. Our complaints are as follows: One of the bedside lamps didn’t work. I asked for someone to please fix the lamp and when I checked in about the lamp, the front desk said they sent someone to the wrong room. There was a light out in the chandelier. There was a loud alarm going off in the room beside us. The pool was out of service due to ‘an accident’. The staff didn’t know where the steam room was. It was not worth the money.

Our room had an air conditioner that did not work, a telephone that did not work, a mini refrigerator that was way too warm, even at the highest setting, and a toilet that broke. Management put in some temporary AC unit and a temporary refrigerator. But They would not change the room as they said everything was rented, and would not give any kind of discount for such a sub grade accommodation. The hotel itself was beautiful and so were the amenities and restaurants.

Nice property for a quiet relaxing break. Very good breakfast and the pub on site was excellent. However we booked a room with a lake view and balcony but were given a very inferior small room overlooking the back of the hotel. We pointed out that this was not as booked and were told there was no room available. We were shown to another larger room with no balcony. We checked both Expedia and the hotels own website and there was still a room of the type booked available. Back to reception armed with the information and within an hour a room was found by the manager. A very frustrating check-in for an otherwise nice stay.

The service and view is spectacular. Breakfast is a nice plus. The front desk embarrassed us by saying our credit card was declined. It was her human error.Other than that, the staff is fantastic. All the outdoor granite stairs need replacing before someone falls and hurts themselves. Its a great place to visit Muskoka at its best.

Booked a 3 night getaway. Beautiful location with lots to do. Staff were very friendly and professional, especially Heather at the breakfast buffet. So friendly and represented the hotel very well. No complaints and would highly recommend staying here. We’ll be back!

I've stayed here twice and both experiences weren't very good. The first time i stayed, there were no towels. I called front desk but no one ever answered so had to go to front desk and ask for them. I then received only one towel and was made to feel like i was lying. The second time i stayed was even worse. I'm not confident my door locks. I went for dinner as it was the most uncomfortable experience of my life. No one greeted me and i stood around awkwardly to be seated. I was told i would get a menu but never got one and after 10 minutes i had to get one myself. No one ever checked on me. Pizza was gross. I'm so uncomfortable and just want to leave and NEVER come back.

We stayed two nights on February 4th and 5th and were able to enjoy a rare pair of beatiful sunsets including one imwhile enjoying the outdoor hot tub. The setting is very charming as well as relaxing and the staff friendly. Dining options were a bit limited at this time of year and we were disappointed that we were not able to access our balcony. The room was sparsely furnished but the bed was very comfortable. Looking forward to returning at a time when there is a bit more action.

This is a beautiful resort, with the perfect view. We loved the pool, hottub and saunas. The complimentary breakfast was amazing. This resort is about a 30-mins drive from Huntsville, where the closests restaurants and shops were. So you need to plan ahead. The rooms at the resort were old, bathroom was very small and very thin walls between each room. I was annoyed they allowed dogs which prevented us from being able to sleep due to barking. The resort was full, and there were people that were not staying at the resort to eat at the restaurant, so parking was an issue and we couldn't get a reservation in the restaurant for their Thanksgiving dinner.

We enjoyed a wonderful 3-night stay at Windermere House. Gorgeous setting, of course, on the shore of Lake Rosseau. Very nice, well-appointed room. Great recreational offerings, all included (we availed ourselves of the swimming pool and hot tub, and took a pair of kayaks out for lovely paddle). Unusually friendly and attentive staff. Better than average complimentary breakfast buffet. Our only complaint was about the dining options. There are 2 venues: the high-end The Rosseau and the more casual Windermere Pub. Both offer beautiful indoor and outdoor settings; but both are very high-priced and offer a lot of dishes with excessively fancy ingredient lists, which offer more show than substance. Some dishes under-deliver, e.g., the pasta with "mushrooms": our servings each included a single halved mushroom. Vegetarian options are very few, vegan ones fewer. It was very difficult to find healthy food options.

Considering this property has a lot of history I was expecting a lot more charm. The rooms were very plain and ordinary like any other hotel. The property was nice. We booked dinner at the Rosseau but found when we arrived that it was closed so we had to eat in the pub which left much to be desired.

We stayed at Windermere House in October. The property and surroundings are beautiful, with obvious attention to guest comfort and convenience. We were treated wonderfully by all staff we encountered. Had we stayed longer than two nights, we would have used more of the many recreational and comfort facilities available. As it was, we enjoyed great meals at the restaurant (best apple cheesecake I've ever had) and pub, a lovely paddle on the water, swims in the pool, sauna, and my wife had a massage at the spa. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable with superb views of the lake. There was moderate sound transfer between our room and the adjacent room, which is connected by a door between them. Our neighbors were not loud nor annoying so no issue for us during our stay. We would certainly plan another stay at WH if visiting that part of Ontario again. Loved it.

We had the great pleasure of staying at Windermere House this July. Originally built in 1870 and rebuilt after a 1996 fire, the resort blends historic charm with modern comfort. It’s like stepping into the past, without sacrificing modern amenities. Sitting on the front lawn, it’s easy to imagine the guests who’ve stayed here over the last 150+ years. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern, though a second sink and a stronger shower stream would’ve been nice. Still, everything functioned well. Rooms are cleaned daily. We enjoyed outstanding meals at both Russo (the main restaurant) and the more casual Windermere Pub downstairs. Both offer outdoor seating and excellent service. The lobby bar is also a great spot for drinks or snacks, designed to match the hotel's classic look with updated touches. The breakfast buffet was excellent: fruit, smoked salmon, eggs, sausage, French toast, seasoned breakfast potatoes, and more. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The pool area was a highlight, with plenty of loungers, Muskoka chairs, and shade. We didn’t try the barrel saunas, but they looked inviting. We also enjoyed canoeing, tennis and pickleball all included at no extra cost. Kayaks and paddleboards are also offered. Our favourite spot was the veranda, perfect for relaxing with a book and taking in the stunning lake view. It’s a premium-priced resort, but worth every penny. We look forward to returning.

Breakfast buffet was terrible. Worse than anything you ever could have received at a Motel 6. Scrambled eggs were not even real eggs, and cold, cheap fruits that looked like frozen fruit, I didn’t even recognize the spreads for toast, Coffee was really watered down and weak. It seems that every attempt was made to make this as cheap a breakfast as possible Pub food on the otherhand was good, we went there twice Finally we got a room that did have a balcony lake view but was a completely different room than what was shown on Expedia website. For a luxury resort the prices and the overall experience didn’t match up to international standards in our experience. The buffet was average and the rules that the staff have to follow are definitely not very gracious….NB more for special coffee or special drinks and they make sure the guests know they are doing something’ extra’ for you!! This should be seamless and gracious so that one feels relaxed and taken care of not aware of any effort on their part…!The approach is friendly but not refined and seamless as it certainly should be for a resort of this potential…!

The property itself is beautiful, but the food options are significantly lacking. We have young children, and the staff told us it would take an hour and a half to get a burger to go. The pub was half empty, and the staff was short-staffed and not very friendly.
