Hotel is located in absolutely stunning location. It has quite nice looking and fairly modern rooms with amazing views (if the windows were clean)but that's about it unfortunately. Staff is grumpy and not too happy to help. Doors to the rooms have no amortisation therefore every time the door is being shut it wakes you up. Walls are thin too, therefore if you get loud neighbours (neighbours in this case means 5 rooms on either side of yours and opposite) you might struggle to get a night sleep too. One plug in the room and that's close to the bathroom, not to the bed. Breakfast was of really poor choice and quality. Horribly tasting coffe but you are more than welcome to have a probably tastier one if you pay but we chose not to, out of principle. SPA was never seen as opening hours are for people who live in hotel, not for active ones. 10am till 6pm is a little bit of a joke?

Der Check in war problemlos und schnell. Die Zimmer sind sauber und haben eine gute Größe. Die Anfahrt zum Hotel ist etwas eng man sollte vorsichtig fahren es können auch Busse entgegen kommen. Oben gibt es noch ein kleines Café sowie ein Souvenirshop. Der Pool ist sehr schön könnte eine Stunde länger geöffnet sein aber sehr sauber. Das einzige war uns gestört hat ist, dass die Zimmer extrem hellhörig sind die ganze Nacht und am frühen Morgen ab 5 Uhr haben wir Unterhaltungen der Nachbarn gehört Türen laut zu ziehen oder sogar das Niesen den Nachbarn. Am besten bringt man sich Ohrstöpsel mit dann kann man auch entspannt schlafen. Ansonsten ein top Hotel

Le cadre avec vue panoramique des montagnes est magnifique. Le petit-déjeuner est très bien avec du choix. Possibilité de diner au restaurant de l'hôtel avec une cuisine locale et de qualité, l'équipe du restaurant est très sympathique et serviable. Le jacuzzi était parfait après une journée de visite, si la piscine était aussi chauffée cela aurait été un plus. Merci pour l'accueil, à recommander.

The hotel is offering an amazing view . Really really spectacular! The jacuzzi is also extremely nice. And that’s about it or nearly . The hotel is old . Swimming pool is too cold. Most of the food , we didn’t like. The break first is extremely industrial. People are nice, don’t get me wrong but this hotel needs a complete new approach and needs to be refreshed and renovated .

We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful view. Free parking, very comfortable bed. Friendly staff and good facilities. Variety at breakfast, good value for money. The breakfast was not always very hot and would have appreciated more toiletries in the bathroom. Overall a very comfortable stay. Thank you.

Excellent stay, wonderful views that were worth it by itself. My favourite part was lying on the sofa looking at the clouds pour from the mountains. But a couple of things couple could be improved. The spa facilities were not good enough. The sauna wasn’t hot enough, and the jacuzzi did not look clean. Also the big TV in the room didn’t have many working channels, they did have a lot of regional German and Austrian channels though. So bring a HDMI cable and hook your device if you want to stream anything. The staff were wonderful however and the restaurant was good.

What a location! Besutoful view of the valley and mountains from the room, dining room and swimming pool. Great shower pressure and wifi and the hot tub was great after hiking. The pool was cold but that would be amazing in summer. Friendly staff.

l'hôtel est à 800 m de hauteur ce qui amène une bonne température, avec une très belle vue sur la côte sud et sur le cirque de Serrado. dans la chambre les toilettes étaient pleine de calcaire avec cercle jaune, le bidet fuyait et la chambre n'était pas lavée tous les jours, autrement la chambre étaient bien située avec une belle terrasse et une vue sur le cirque de Serrado. La piscine était froide, en cette saison où il ne faisait pas une grosse chaleur. Par contre la masseuse kyné était formidable, ces massages sont de vrais massages et font un bien fou.

A nossa estadia foi muito boa. Adoramos a piscina, jacuzzi e sauna. Quarto amplo e limpo, cama confortável. Com café e cha, mas na opinião deviar ter 1 garrafa de agua. Funcionários simpáticos e atenciosos. Jantar estava delicioso podia ter menu de criança. Pequeno almoço muito bom com muito variedade.

We did the downhill walk into the Valley of the Nuns many years ago and always thought it would be amazing to stay in the hotel high up at the start of the walk. The views from the rooms over at thousand feet above the valley are amazing and it’s great to be up there as the sun sets and rises. The Reception staff are very friendly and check in was easy with parking outside. The room was clean with a large balcony and top marks for the shower. The noise from the young family next door rather spoiled the quiet surroundings and showed the walls were thin however. Being out of the season the restaurant was all but closed down and the food was nothing to rave about although the service was friendly. Breakfast again was fairly poor with no fresh juice and as the numbers staying weren’t great it seemed they didn’t feel the need to make an effort. Fried eggs under cooked and served on a cold plate. A kettle was provided in the room but enough for one drink only and no milk. Great if you want the views to yourself after the daytime tourist rush but not the relaxed environment with a bar and good food we’d hoped for.

Die ruhige Lage, die Architektur und der Ausblick auf das Nonnental sprechen für die Unterkunft. Das Zimmer war sauber und hatte eine sehr große Terrasse. Leider hat die Frühstücksleistung nicht unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Auch das Wasser im Whirlpool war unseres Erachtens zu stark gechlort und reizte die Augenschleimhäute. Letztendlich für ein/ zwei Übernachtungen okay.

La vue depuis l’hôtel est très belle, et heureusement parce que c’est la seule chose d’intéressante, les chambres et l’hôtel en lui-même sont vieillots, et le petit dej pas terrible, la piscine est glacée, l’eau du jacuzzi très sale et le spa et le sauna ne fonctionnais pas quand j’y suis allée

Oben gibt es noch ein kleines Café sowie ein Souvenirshop. Der Pool ist sehr schön könnte eine Stunde länger geöffnet sein aber sehr sauber. Das einzige war uns gestört hat ist, dass die Zimmer extrem hellhörig sind die ganze Nacht und am frühen Morgen ab 5 Uhr haben wir Unterhaltungen der Nachbarn gehört Türen laut zu ziehen oder sogar das Niesen den Nachbarn. Am besten bringt man sich Ohrstöpsel mit dann kann man auch entspannt schlafen. Ansonsten ein top Hotel

We did the downhill walk into the Valley of the Nuns many years ago and always thought it would be amazing to stay in the hotel high up at the start of the walk. The views from the rooms over at thousand feet above the valley are amazing and it’s great to be up there as the sun sets and rises. The Reception staff are very friendly and check in was easy with parking outside. The room was clean with a large balcony and top marks for the shower. The noise from the young family next door rather spoiled the quiet surroundings and showed the walls were thin however. Being out of the season the restaurant was all but closed down and the food was nothing to rave about although the service was friendly. Breakfast again was fairly poor with no fresh juice and as the numbers staying weren’t great it seemed they didn’t feel the need to make an effort. Fried eggs under cooked and served on a cold plate. A kettle was provided in the room but enough for one drink only and no milk. Great if you want the views to yourself after the daytime tourist rush but not the relaxed environment with a bar and good food we’d hoped for.

Sehr schön gelegen, Zimmer war sehr groß mit toller Terrasse Hatte ein Familienzimmer. Frühstück war gut und alles vorhanden. Blick wunderschön am Morgen ins Tal der Nonnen. Traumhaft!! Hotel liegt genau am Viewpoint.

Can’t beat the view at this place! Simply breathtaking. Perched on a mountain top overlooking a beautiful mountain valley. Nice restaurant and a nice pool and spa. One word of warning is there is no easy way to get back and forth to Funchal. Highly recommend a rental car if you stay here and don’t take a wrong turn on the mountain/ it’s a long way down. Rooms are nice and clean with great views. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal you found it.

We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful view. Free parking, very comfortable bed. Friendly staff and good facilities. Variety at breakfast, good value for money. The breakfast was not always very hot and would have appreciated more toiletries in the bathroom. Overall a very comfortable stay. Thank you.

Excellent stay, wonderful views that were worth it by itself. My favourite part was lying on the sofa looking at the clouds pour from the mountains. But a couple of things couple could be improved. The spa facilities were not good enough. The sauna wasn’t hot enough, and the jacuzzi did not look clean. Also the big TV in the room didn’t have many working channels, they did have a lot of regional German and Austrian channels though. So bring a HDMI cable and hook your device if you want to stream anything. The staff were wonderful however and the restaurant was good.

What a location! Besutoful view of the valley and mountains from the room, dining room and swimming pool. Great shower pressure and wifi and the hot tub was great after hiking. The pool was cold but that would be amazing in summer. Friendly staff.

Hotel is located in absolutely stunning location. It has quite nice looking and fairly modern rooms with amazing views (if the windows were clean)but that's about it unfortunately. Staff is grumpy and not too happy to help. Doors to the rooms have no amortisation therefore every time the door is being shut it wakes you up. Walls are thin too, therefore if you get loud neighbours (neighbours in this case means 5 rooms on either side of yours and opposite) you might struggle to get a night sleep too. One plug in the room and that's close to the bathroom, not to the bed. Breakfast was of really poor choice and quality. Horribly tasting coffe but you are more than welcome to have a probably tastier one if you pay but we chose not to, out of principle. SPA was never seen as opening hours are for people who live in hotel, not for active ones. 10am till 6pm is a little bit of a joke?

Superb position in the mountainside at the top of the path to the valley below. Wheather is all important as when the cloud comes in, you see very little. The hotel is showing its age ( and lack of maintenance). We ate in the hotel in the evenings; there is no real option in the locality. The meals were of mixed quality but generally acceptable. This was in contrast to the breakfasts which were poor, hot items allowed to go cold on hardly warm " hotplates" and left there indefinitely. The machine juices and coffee were amongst the worst we have ever been served. The service in general was perfunctory, this must reflect on management. My recommendation: if you want to experience of the location, there are many day trippers, or stay for one night. If driving a hire car, you need to be a confident driver as the single road up and down is narrow and winding. These facts do not affect the local bus drivers, a concern when they appear in the opposite direction!

Le cadre avec vue panoramique des montagnes est magnifique. Le petit-déjeuner est très bien avec du choix. Possibilité de diner au restaurant de l'hôtel avec une cuisine locale et de qualité, l'équipe du restaurant est très sympathique et serviable. Le jacuzzi était parfait après une journée de visite, si la piscine était aussi chauffée cela aurait été un plus. Merci pour l'accueil, à recommander.
