Pestana Casino Park Hotel & Casino

Très bel accueil. Les chambres sont spacieuses, la literie de qualité. Nous avons pu profiter d’un soin au SPA, superbe moment! Dommage que la piscine intérieure ne soit pas chauffer car on se gèle un peu… Sinon tous les équipements sont de qualité. Et le petit déjeuner sans commentaire il est fabuleux!

Très bien placé à Funchal, très bon accueil, chambre spacieuse, petit déjeuner copieux et varié , piscine rooftop très agréable. Recommandé a 100%

Great location and beautiful pool with a great view. Unfortunately that's where it ends. We stayed in this hotel twice, once before the cruise and once after. If my second booking was refundable then I wouldn't have gone back. Staff at the front desk are completely incompetent and not properly trained. The gym equipment has not been serviced in years. I complained about this on the first visit hoping that at least one of the cardio machines would work a week later, but nothing was done about it. What makes is worse is the staff seems annoyed when you bring this up. Loved Madeira but won't go back to this hotel.

An der Unterkunft hat uns eigentlich nur der Ausblick auf Funchal und der eigene, abgeschirmte Balkon gefallen. Die Ausstattung im Zimmer war nicht gut: spontan funktionierender Föhn, verstopftes Becken, fehlende Steckdosen (da, wo die Kaffeemaschine steht, ist keine Steckdose…), alt und abgewohnt. Zudem fehlte jeden Tag etwas beim Nachfüllen des täglichen Gratiskaffee auf dem Zimmer: Mal war es die Milch, mal der Kaffee, dann wiederum Becher oder einfach Rührstäbchen. Das Frühstück ist zwar groß und relativ vielfältig, aber nach zwei Tagen sind wir nicht mehr frühstücken gegangen: erstens weil es einfach zu voll und zu laut war wie in einer Turnhalle und zweitens schmeckt es einfach nicht, die einfachsten Dinge nicht. Parkplatz: es gibt fünf kostenlose vor dem Hotel, 10 Meter weiter einen kleinen Hoteldiener ist für 15 EUR pro Tag, der aber meist immer voll war und dazu noch jeweils täglich persönlich verlängert werden muss. 15 Meter weiter ein Parkplatz vom Casino, man muss aber jedes Mal bei Ein- und Ausfahrt zahlen. Das Publikum ist einfach unglaublich: entweder wird im Bademantel in allen Bereichen herumgelaufen (auch zum Frühstück…) oder es gibt schon fast „Prügeleien“ beim Aufzuganstehen oder beim Frühstücksdrängeln. Die Angestellten gehen sich Mühe, aber bei der Masse an (uner- und ungezogenen) Menschen ist das kaum zu bewältigen. Alles in allem ist das Hotel nicht einmal im Ansatz ein Fünf-Sterne-Hotel, mit ganz guten wollen sind es vier, aber eher drei Sterne!

Rooms and site were clean. Parking at casino is $12€ per day and no in and out privileges. Cleaning staff came in and cleaned our room on day 3 even though we had do not disturb sign up. Blow dryer in our room broke. We called 4 times, went to the front desk and it was never fixed. Eventually on day 3 they brought us a plug in one. Beautiful spot… staff service leaves something to be desired.

Dont get me wrong its a nice hotel with a lot of facilities and with some nice but not extraordinary extras. I did enjoy my stay and the service and everything was great. Also its clean and easy to get to funchal by foot and nice restaurants around. So all in all a perfect hotel to enjoy madeira! - the gym is very very small with just very basic stuff - sauna is very nice just not super hot and sometimes i wish people would know how to use a saune. Shower before, use a towel inside the sauna etc. - breakfast is very very basic bread, chess, meat, eggs, fruits. As its gets very loud i always went earlier around 7.30 - the rooms need an update urgently. Very 80s style it looks old and not modern but it was all clean with a balcony and a nice view

The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay . The room was probably in need of an update but cannot fault the cleanliness . It has a lovely bar area inside and out and both the outdoor pools were clean and tidy . The indoor spa and pool were an added bonus . We were B&B and the breakfast was more than acceptable. We did eat in the restaurant on one of the evenings and found the food lacking in choice but this would be my only negative. The hotel is a 20min walk into the town centre and very handy for bus stops/taxis and lots of restaurants in walking distance . We found it an excellent base to explore Funchal from .

We had a great stay! Breakfast and pools were unbelievable. 2 Pools closed at 6 and rooms needed an update. Our air conditioning was a fan that hardly worked. Very quiet, stunning views of the city.

Ok, the gym at this hotel is a bit small for a 5 star hotel of this size and, some details are coming near when they need to be polished up a bit. However : All three pool areas are in top condition. And the breakfast is really good, both service, food quality and the restaurants design and location. ( Think brutalism at its best.) Very friendly staff and excellent service plus cool design ( Partly by Oscar Niemeyer ) Over all this is a little pearl in Funchal and I hope that Pestana group will take good care of it.

Decepcionado, estuve hace 40 años y creo que a peor. Yo le quitaría 2 estrellas. Desayuno para salir del paso, con muchas faltas. La limpieza de la habitación deplorable. No reponen lo que gastas. Las sábanas pequeñas que no cubrían la cama y fundas de almohada rotas. De pena

The main issue I had throughout my stay was with the staff at the front desk. Every time we needed to go to the front desk, including at check in, we were treated rudely. (*Except for one tall young man with dark hair, he was the exception. Always pleasant and happy to help) You felt as though you were annoying them and information, particularly regarding parking, was inconsistent and at times misleading. I have never been treated so poorly by hotel staff before. I would never stay there again.

Strålende rom - god seng - fin balkong. Hyggelig resepsjon. God beliggenhet med utsikt.

Flott hotell og uteområde. Super utsikt og god beliggenhet. Rom var fint men forferder dårlig lydisolering. Bråk fra gang, nabo, og uteområde er ikke til å unngå. Ta med ørepropper!

The only thing I did not like the room is 50 years old but it was clean and the bed was comfortable

Location! - the Casino Park is without a doubt the best located hotel in Funchal - you get out and walk to all major sights. That comes with a curse - NOISE, LOUD INCESSANT NOISE ALL NIGHT LONG - which is not their fault but rather the municipality of Funchal, that somehow believes that absolutely insultingly and preposterously loud concerts of horrendously mediocre bands and music is what tourists that stay in 5 star hotels want.... in any case, the Casino Park - which 40 years ago was the Grand Dame of Funchal is clearly dated, not a 5 star hotel, at best a 4 star - needs renovations/dire improvements in a few areas: there are no coffee/ tea machines in the room, the breakfast buffett is a disgraceful display of bad, processed, garbage food, they have four coffee machines for 200 people: it takes 15-20 minutes in a line to get a cup of coffee for breakfast. There are 3 very small elevators for the entire hotel - so in a busy period, it is impossible to get one, prepare to go up and down 5 or 6 flights of stairs - which is not that bad after you ate that horrendous breakfast food... now let me mention some great things - the staff is awesome, truly concerned about the clients well being - the problem is that Grupo Pestana, who has bought all the largest hotels in Madeira, is not up to international standards, they are a cost cutting, accounting driven corporation from stingy owners who will replace 20 humans with one bad coffee machine in a heartbeat. SHAME ON PESTANA

The room we had looked out over a busy road which was noisy 24hrs a day with cars and people especially at night The hotel was relaxing

Great location, very retro in the communal areas. large selection at breakfast, few negative point though. If you have a garden facing room, take ear plugs. The nightclub at the casino goes on till 3/4 am and the noise from the club is LOUD!. Also if you have a suit at the sea end of the hotel, be prepared for noise from the cruise terminal pumping station. Room service was rather late in the day/ none existent My room was only cleaned after 4pm and another room in our group wasnt cleaned at all. Over all the the hotel is very nice place to stay

The room was a little tired . Needed decorating and had a shower curtain and small shower head over the bath - shower curtains are unhygienic and the shower should be updated The balcony chairs were like pallets and really uncomfortable No kettle Apart for that everything was fine

This is the second time I have stayed here and it won’t be the last. Perfect location, facilities, rooms are clean, staff are friendly. It’s the perfect all rounder and I can’t wait to return in the new year.

Fantastic design. Huge inner spaces, giant projection panel ín the main hall about best parts of Madeira and the hotel, breathtaking, 180 degree view from the groundfloor restaurant to the harbour and 10 floor high giant ships, the surrounding park and the mountains. In collective places and rooms, original, signed artworks from local artists (screenprints and giant textiles). Unfortunately ín the rooms the priority of the design comes at the expense of practicity. There is only one cupboard with one drawer and one lamp on one side of beds, while on the other side, there is an unnecesserily big table. Place is too narrow to move between the bed and the cabinet. The personnel is very polite and helpful. Special thanks to Krisztina, who helped to solve our problem with the noise coming from the neighbouring disco. We appreciate itt very much!

Service in the reception leaves a lot to be desired. When greeting the receptionist upon arrival, we were basically met with a cold shoulder. No "welcome to the Pestana" or anything like that, just a blank stare. Checkin was fairly smooth apart from that. Again, at the end of the stay, they gave us the bill and that was it. No "did you have a nice stay?" or "have a safe journey, hope to see you again" - just pay and farewell. The "happy hour" bar was a similar experience, the senior staff was almost hostile, the junior much more accomodating and friendly. The staff in the restaurant on the other hand, were exceptionally friendly and hardworking. Same goes for the doormen and the cleaning staff - always greeting you with a friendly smile.

Only location nice, otherwise to start from staff they dont have any customer service here is the incident i asked for extend the checkout till 1.30 pm only o e hour and half the response from front desk exactly she said, no you have to checkout at 12 room already given to another guest, this is totally not acceptable behaviour. Very limited breakfast, with no taste, and extremely old hotel

Todo el personal fue muy amable y eficiente. Había un problema con el router de la habitación y el personal de mantenimiento se presentó rápidamente para solucionarlo. El hotel es hermoso y la ubicación inmejorable.

Thank you very much for the upgrade, it definitely made the stay more comfortable for us. The hotel is beautiful and spacious, breakfast was tasty, hot and with a good variety of food. Beautiful views whilst having breakfast and a lovely views from the roof top pool.

Booked last minute as flight cancelled so needed overnight accommodation. Staff were wonderful. Room was ideal for our needs with free water & soft drinks in mini bar. Breakfast was included which is one of the best I’ve ever had in a spectacular setting, will return.

Good location and very clean.

Very central

This was our second stay at Casino Park this year. Our side sea room on 5th floor facing east was perfect. Had a great view of the sea, harbour, mountains and downtown Funchal. Only a 10 minute walk to downtown. Highly recommend.

Breakfast always the same. Wellness to small. Sauna used by guest with wet bathing wear and without using the towels under there skin.

Overall, the hotel wasn’t a 5 star hotel experience by any stretch. Parking in the hotel isn’t convenient and isn’t included. For a five star hotel I would expect this to be included. The showers are ridiculously small, there are no hooks to hang your towels and the dinner buffet wasn’t great. I would rate this hotel a 3 to 4 star. The only good thing is its convenient location and breakfast. The staff were friendly at least. I would also expect more fun activities that wouldn’t include a 8 euro charge for an hour game of pool. Overall, I would not recommend it if you are expecting a 5 star experience.

I commend you on the inviting atmosphere and thoughtful layout of the lobby and floors, with comfortable seating enhancing the overall experience. However, I faced some inconveniences during my stay. The lack of an iron and ironing board was inconvenient, as I was informed that this was due to fire hazard policies. While I understand safety regulations, I believe these amenities would improve guest satisfaction. Additionally, clean towels were not provided during housekeeping, and one of the washcloths I used was not replaced. My daughter’s washcloth was left hanging by the bathtub. Having replacements available would ensure guests have what they need. The complimentary breakfast was limited, with the potatoes never served warm or hot. It's important to ensure that meals are enjoyable for guests. Lastly, I attempted multiple times to book spa services but found the spa unattended, with no indication of when someone would be available. Thank you for considering my feedback.
