The hotel has a very popular and busy rooftop bar; however, there is only one elevator for hotel guest, and those visiting the rooftop so it can be very slow. I was disappointed we weren’t offered any VIP perks. The front desk staff, the maids and the breakfast staff were all wonderful.

Excellent stay at this place, nice clean boutique hotel next to Venice Beach we were on top floor room clean and comfortable with excellent view from the side of the ocean, breakfast was standard nothing to talk about, did use their bike which is not looking bikes but if you want to bike around the beach you should have your own bike, staff was pleasant helpful only negative thing I came across was they were renuating top floor so there lot of construction traffic in only passenger elevator which was annoying, hopefully all building construction be over when I visit next time

The staff are fantastic and accommodating. Loved the view from the room and balcony. Always nice to be able to open the door and hear the ocean, especially at night! The rooftop restaurant is also special and unique with incredible views. The valet was quick and easy. I will be back!

It was a good stay- the staff was nice and I enjoyed being so close to the beach. With the reopening of the rooftop, it was difficult to access the elevator because there is only one and anyone could go up . I was on the 6th floor and often took the steps but as a paying guest at the hotel I would have preferred not to have to do that. Also the one time I tried to order room service, I was told they didn't have enough morning staff to cover it. So maybe set a time so guests can know that information.

The hotel room very spacious, clean and very nice and the rooftop was absolutely stunning. The staff was truly outstanding: incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. The biggest hurdle was finding parking around the hotel, which only offers valet parking. Overall we found our stay a bit overpriced, but very pleasant.

This was a great property, the rooftop bar and grill is spectacular. Room was wonderful, even the partial ocean view was amazing. Service was great all around. No parking close, expect to pay $54 for valet parking for an overnight stay

I was disappointed with the age and cleanliness of the hotel. There was noticeable aging with heavily scratched furniture and paint chipped walls. There was a stuffy odor, likely due to the carpet, and the curtains in the bedroom had multiple stains. Overall, for a 4-star property, I expected better.

I live close and want to like Erwin for it's convenience but it was TERRIBLE! The elevator took a very long time day and night. The hallways and rooms smelled horrible. The room itself was TINY and the balcony looked at a dumpster and the dumpster smell heated up and filled the room.

It was a great experience until Monday morning that we found bed bugs in the bed. We talked to front desk about it and moved us to another room because bed bugs are gross for a nice hotel like this. They gave us late check out and we were told they were going to wave the destination fee. The person who helped us said he wish he could give us the free stay but since we booked through a third party site the destination fee was all that could be taken off. I was still charged a destination fee for one day.

Lovely, clean hotel with amazing views in the heart of Venice Beach. Close to great coffee, food, drink and shopping. I had the level 6 Epic View room which delivered on the description provided. It is right below the rooftop bar so you could hear the music at night, however, the staff were upfront about this and offered to relocate me if it becaame an issue. It wasn't. Breakfast was included - small space but perfectly functional and convenient. Only downside was the hotel amenities fee that was charged at $40 per night upon departure. That took me by surprise. I think this needs to be called out upfront as part of this booking in the same way that taxes and fees are, since it's not an optional charge.

My refrigerator was broke, maintenance tried to fix it I did receive a new one after a day or so I was told I would be compensated for the broken refrigerator….and I found a cockroach in my room on the last day of stay. I left 2-3 hours before I wanted to I was promised a full refund for my entire stay but once I left they told me I will be refunded $125. I paid $1325 and was told by Expedia that I was responsible for $84 at hotel Erwin once I arrived but when I got there an extra $450 was taken off my card for a security deposit. This was supposed to be a nice enjoyable trip for my daughters 13th birthday but it turned out to be more than a hassle than anything.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the balcony is great to sit and relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The rooftop bar is what really makes this place. Nice cocktails and share plates. The breakfast was good with lovely freshly cut fruit, scrambled eggs, various meats depending on the day, bagels, toast, jams etc.

Great location and literally under a night life scene which made it slightly difficult to sleep at night (our room was just below the rooftop bar). Room was clean and well stocked. Staff was very friendly and courteous. There’s only one elevator in the hotel so it’s a bit inconvenient, but there are a few sets of stairs. Only one staircase connects to the lobby, the others lead to the back alley which is where the dumpsters are. Overall a very memorable stay!

If you’re looking to get sleep when staying on a Saturday night I wouldn’t suggest this hotel. We stayed on the 4th floor and heard the rooftop club loudly in our room until 2am, followed by beer glasses being thrown into the dumpster after the bars close for about an hour it felt like. Didn’t sleep well at all. Wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

I loved my stay at the hotel. The only reason I did not give it a five star rating was because of the noise. You could here everything that was going on in the hall and adjoining room. I slept with a sound machine on from Spotify and that helped with sleeping.

The staff are fantastic and accommodating. Loved the view from the room and balcony. Always nice to be able to open the door and hear the ocean, especially at night! The rooftop restaurant is also special and unique with incredible views. The valet was quick and easy. I will be back!

Stayed for my birthday with my best friend and it was a great stay! Frank and Desiree helped check us in and were so pleasant and helpful! I can't remember his name, but the young man with braces helped us check out the bikes and he was so helpful and friendly..actually EVERY staff member we encountered were helpful and very friendly! A rarity these days it seems! Our suite was very clean, bedding, pillows and towels all nicely washed/clean! The location couldnt be more perfect!!! I came to celebrate my birthday but can't wait to come back just because this place is wonderful!

Great hotel close to beach and beach walk. Our room was spacious, well maintained and comfortable. Had a beautiful view of ocean and enjoyable easy walk to restaurants in the area. I can’t even start to explain how much we LOVED our stay at Hotel Erwin! I was a little apprehensive with it being so close to the boardwalk & craziness with my son in tow but it felt safe, quiet, and so much fun. They called the day before and let me know the room I booked wasn’t available do to a maintence issue BUT upgraded us to a king suite (highly recommend this room), let us check in very early, and have us a $100 voucher for the rooftop! We arrived to the warmest welcome, like we were family, and they got us right in. The king suite is amazing - like your own apartment with a kitchen, full size kitchen table, large living room, and totally separate king bedroom. Everything is within walking distance and amazing views of the boardwalk and beach. We used the hotel bikes in the morning and there were so many available & cute. They also have beach towels & other things readily available. The cafe downstairs has amazing food & coffee drinks. Highly recommend the yogurt / granola bowl. Then the rooftop we used a lot to meet up with friends! It’s set up to have your own VIP couch situation with waiter & views are insane! Food and drinks were all so good. So stop your search here and just book it! We already can’t wait for our next visit.

The staff at Hotel Erwin are my fave! I was having a horrible and everyone from the valet, check in staff, support team, wait staff at their rooftop patio, etc was amazing! Really helped me when I needed it most. I couldn't recommend this place more. And its got mad style and in the perfect Venice location!

The manager is amazing. We had a little miscommunication on our reservation, but he not only made it right, but went the extra mile. He put us in a suite overlooking the ocean. The staff helped us move our bags. I have always loved staying at Hotel Erwin, but this is a great example of when things in life don’t go right, it’s how you react it. The staff at Hotel Erwin go out of their way to make it right and provide a priceless experience. I highly recommend staying here.

Its right next to the venice beach, there is good and bad to it. Neighborhood feels a little sketchy, esp at night. Also, loud music plays somewhere till like mid night, so if you are looking for a quiet place, this is not it. But otherwise, if you want to have quick beach access and night life, this is the place for you.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the balcony is great to sit and relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The rooftop bar is what really makes this place. Nice cocktails and share plates. The breakfast was good with lovely freshly cut fruit, scrambled eggs, various meats depending on the day, bagels, toast, jams etc.

Unfortunately the rooftop was under construction and was not informed before booking. This took away the primary hotel amenity meant for booking this hotel. It also caused the solo elevator to be booked all week by workers and suppliers to get patio furniture changed over so new management could take over. On last day when it was finally opened I bought a drink and sat at a table without reservations and then was told to leave as someone had reserved the table. Was a regular here staying every 6 months for 10 days in premium suites but this is my last trip.

Lovely, clean hotel with amazing views in the heart of Venice Beach. Close to great coffee, food, drink and shopping. I had the level 6 Epic View room which delivered on the description provided. It is right below the rooftop bar so you could hear the music at night, however, the staff were upfront about this and offered to relocate me if it becaame an issue. It wasn't. Breakfast was included - small space but perfectly functional and convenient. Only downside was the hotel amenities fee that was charged at $40 per night upon departure. That took me by surprise. I think this needs to be called out upfront as part of this booking in the same way that taxes and fees are, since it's not an optional charge.

Rooftop bar closed early both nights we were there (fri and sat nights). Downstairs cafe doesn’t open until 9am. So you must go off property for coffee and dinner. Valet and bell hop are Amazing! Front desk was curt and rude, not very welcoming. Location is perfect. Would stay again but will probably look at other options first next time.

Perfect location to the beach and the famous Venice boardwalk. We arrived much earlier than our check time and were very pleasantly greeted by a lovely lady and were told our room was ready which kicked-off a brilliant weekend. The room was super spacious and had a very comfy bed and huge oceanfront balcony that we spent a lot of time on. Dinner on the rooftop was spectacular as was the food. Complimentary breakfast was included and we really enjoyed the patio and the offerings were perfect. The hotel offers complimentary bikes, beach towels, sunscreen, basketballs, paddle tennis, volleyballs and more. We loved our time here and will certainly be back.

The air conditioning didn't work throughout my entire stay. I had to sit in my room with maintenance people coming in and out several times. I had asked to switch rooms, but couldn't pack while the maintenance guy was in there. He did get it working so I stayed (also was late to an event). When I got back that evening it wasn't working again, but they said they couldn't send anyone to fix it. when I came back to my room later it wasn't working again. The staff tried to say they offered me another room, which they did, but it was after the AC started to work, so why would I repack all of my things while I was late for an event. Overall extremely frustrating experience. I also found a baby COCKROACH on my ceiling. That was just the cherry on top after trying to sleep in 85 degrees for both nights of my stay. Biggest insult is they didn't give me a refund. Honestly, I would have been satisfied with one night comped based on this experience but they only gave me free parking. Pretty insulting and overall disappionted.
