Grand Superior Lodge

Best lakeside setting in Two Harbors area. Had 2 good meals at the on-property restaurant. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Was going to use the fitness center at 7 am but realized it doesn't open that early. Instead we walked the grounds, enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful morning, explored the pebble beach right on property. Fantastic experience!

Hot tub not working when we arrived. No compensation. Very disappointed, but apology given. Really doesn’t change it. Monies should be discounted.

Parking was tough when there was a wedding there!

Overall it was a nice place. The pool was not very big, and the sauna was a dry sauna, which was a little disappointing. The fitness room is just an eliptical and a treadmill in a small room. Good food, nice rooms, great location. There were not many food options in the store and there are no stores close by, so you need to bring food or plan to eat at their restaurant. Plan to wait for service at the store.

It was good but the hot tub was not working and the sauna was cold :(

The lake view was great to wake up to every day. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We also found several great hikes within 15 minute drive. It was also nice to have a fireplace in our room. We would stay here again, although probably not for the holidays.

Only negative was parking was hard to find but everything else was amazing.

We had an enjoyable stay here at this Lodge. Rooms were clean and comfortable, fridge, microwave and coffee maker were not mentioned in the description but greatly appreciated. They had little niceties such as a giant outdoor ladder ball, corn hole games. Fire pits and S’more kits with firewood made available. Nice pool, hot tub and sauna. Nice Bikes available for checkout. Simple game throughout that both kids and adults could participate in. Restaurant in the lodge had good reasonably priced food for the area. Right along Lake Superior. Friendly staff.

Room was spotless and smelled so clean. We had a king suite balcony, with three huge window to see room from different directions. We found the dining room lacking, food arrived before our cocktail order. And

I liked the outside view of Lake Superior from the grounds - but the shower curtain was smelly and the tack strip from the carpet was protruding with nail tacks - also the fact that the drain plug was broke - Also the staff having a discussion of business in the public area was unprofessional - The checkout staff team was good to note our concerns.

It was nice to wake up and look out at the lake every morning. Though if not in the bed the view was obstructed by a tree. Not having daily housekeeping services such as sheets changed and trash taken out was disappointing. Could request trash pick up and fresh towels but would prefer to not have to worry about anything other than the next adventure while on vacation. Also bathroom was very small and could only accommodate one person though it was a room with two beds.

Few amenities and no housekeeping service.

we had a a upstairs room in a building that housed 4 so called buisness suites. The upstaires carpet was very very dirty i was afraid to walk on it bare foot. For 300 dollars it was very small no place to put suitases and the chair to sit in was very bad. Just not a nice room would not recoomend it.

This was a perfect getaway for our family. The views of the lake were breathtaking! Staff were friendly and helpful. The facilities and rooms are super clean and quiet. The rooms have comfortable beds, with spacious bathrooms. We definitely plan to return to the Grand Superior Lodge when we drive back up the north shore.

Overall a good stay.. there was a wedding reception/dance going on and it continued until midnight.. very loud base and vibration in our room making it hard to sleep. We were not notified of this until check in and if we would have known prior, we would have asked to change rooms Housekeeping is not offered daily which was also a bummer. Polite staff, great food, and excellent views.

Arrived at night but still within check in window at around 9. The clerk gave a map and directions to the unit which was nice. Unfortunately though the parking lot areas are so poorly lit at night and there's almost no signage so it took about 20 minutes to find our room. The view in the room was nice once we saw it in the morning and we liked the pool and hot tub area a lot. Our room was a bit dated though and the carpet was stained, expected a little more from the room for the price. The front desk as well wasn't always staffed as the couple times we went through the lobby there wasn't anyone at the desk and this was a weekend during staffed hours. Overall would recommend if you plan on arriving before dark and don't mind a dated room in exchange for a nice view of the lake.

The bed was very uncomfortable, light switches were confusing and the noise from upstairs was constant.

We loved the room. It had great views of Lake Superior. It was cozy with gas fireplace, jacuzzi hot tub and small kitchenette. The sunrise over the lake is an awesome view.

Very misleading description. A suite is supposed to have more than one room. The king suite only had one room and only one sitting chair.

We had an issue with staying in a room that was right above a wedding and the "boom boom" kept me up all night. They did get us into another room for our second night but having to switch rooms was a pain. Cute place.

Modern, comfortable, clean with a great views. Main lodge had fun seasonal activities and tasty food & drinks. We enjoyed exploring the area and this property was a nice welcome home in the evening.

Great view, room size, shower, and bed comfort.

An average motel with a wonderful view. Unfortunately, the family-friendly aspect, is not exactly conducive to a quiet experience, or a good night's sleep.

Very comfortable. Quick check in and out. Our room had a queen and twin bed and a very large bathroom. Room had a fridge, but no microwave. Fridge didnt have a freezer. No ice bucket or machine. You had to get a bag from some where else on the property. Wound up not bothering. Overall a very nice stay.

The facility in general was nice overall. Our room felt kinda small considering the cost, the king bed was verrry firm/hard, and the toilet was unusually short (low to the ground). The view of the lake was great, but I don't see myself spending that much again for what we experienced.

This was my fiancé’s and I first time up north. The water in our room didn’t stay hot long enough for a warm shower or use of the jacuzzi each night! It was very disappointing since that was the number one reason we chose this resort. For the jacuzzi, we called the office several times, left a message and never received a call back. Also there was a pile of dirty laundry (towels) left in our rooms bathroom cabinet. We didn’t notice til the next day when we open them to look for more toilet paper. It was pretty gross. For the price we paid and reputation, it was quite disappointing. The waitresses in the restaurant that were younger shorter blonde lady and younger lady with dark hair. They also were working together cleaning up the patio on our first day there. They were both kind, helpful and made us feel comfortable. Most of the food was good. Breakfast was great! I highly recommend for dessert the strawberry rhubarb crisp!!! The walleye and cranberry wild rice was not it, too much seasoning that just didn’t go together and it was soggy. Server wise, there was a man there that made the both of us uncomfortable. He didn’t seem pleased to be there. Our 1st day there he was seating a group before us and he didn’t come back for a pretty long time until another employee noticed us. After waiting yet a few more minutes, he then sat us after showing his frustration.

Nice location next to Lake Superior. They offer smores packets from the front desk and there are nice trails from the property. Also, some fun lawn games in the front. Overall a decent place but I was disappointed at the front desk staff's inflexiblity. We stayed there during a weekday and had requested a slightly delayed checkout and after much humming and hawing they pushed it to 11.30. Later I saw people checking out at 12/12.30 and I felt really let down especially since there were barely any new guests checking and the parking lot was empty. A small concession could have gone a big way here!

Wonderful place Only concern was sound on the walls from 12am through the morning. Since there's no staff person at the desk overnight, it couldn't be resolved and made sleeping difficult. Discussed issue in the morning but no resolution was offered.

The jacuzzi was not warm and when I asked if they could make it hot, the staff told me that it would be $50. I laughed at first thinking it was a joke, but the guy at the desk said he was serious. Staff was rude and incompetent.

The property was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Beautiful lake view! However, we did have a few issues that made a less than perfect stay. We stayed for 2 nights. However, we were disappointed that there was no one at the desk after 10pm and our keys were laying on the front counter with our name on the envelope). Our room keys did not work. May have de-magnetized next to my phone (didn’t realize that happened anymore) or did not work in the first place. We called the number left at the lobby and the fellow came from Two Harbors within 15-20 minutes and re-keyed the cards and made sure they worked before he left. But, our late night got even later. It would’ve been so much better if someone had been on-site. The outside lighting is very dark making the numbers on the buildings nearly impossible to read to find our suite. Also, the shower was barely above lukewarm for all of our showers.

The front desk staff was very courteous and helpful.

Beautiful location on Lake Superior!

The property is right on Lake Superior so the views are incredible! It is close to all of the great hiking that is on the north shore, and the amenities are lovely to have on site.

Beautiful spot on the Lake. Great stay. No complaints at all. My only suggestion would be to offer some signage a few feet before the turn into the property, coming from Duluth. We had to slam on the brakes and almost got rear-ended.

Right on the shores of Lake Superior. This is a lovely place to stay.

It is a great place. Restaurant was excellent. Close to both state parks we wanted to visit and close enough to Twin Cities to make the airport by 11 AM!

The location on the lake and the room itself were nice. Yet the experience fell short. At dinner, the dining room was short staffed and enforcing a waiting list even though the room was half empty. The dining room did not open for breakfast at all due to some sort of technical issue, so we had to leave the lodge to hunt for breakfast elsewhere. There was a party in the basement of the lodge, so instead of a quiet evening on our balcony we had the constant thump of music; guests in the main lodge should be given alternative options if there is to be a party with music right below their room.

Only issue was no where to eat unless you waited hours

Our room had an excellent view of Lake Superior so we could watch the shipping traffic. The only negative thing was there was a longer wait to get seated and served in the restaurant because they were short staffed what with there student staff members gone back to school.

The Grand Superior Resort is in a stunning location with breathtaking views of Lake Superior. For the most part it is very quiet with numerous outdoor areas to take in the view. It is close to numerous hiking & biking trails & several state parks. On the downside there was no hot water during our stay for showering. And, while the two on site restaurants served excellent food at reasonable pricing, it was difficult to get seating due to lack of service staff. Not only were you told that you couldn’t be seated by the bar manager, you were also told by him that he was too busy to tend the bar, this despite only two persons at the bar and few people in the restaurant. The restaurants did not accept reservations or have a wait list, it seemed very unorganized. I’ll mention that when we did retry one of the restaurants, a wonderful service worker named Amanda, did everything right to take care of us & others. Amanda seemed to have a great understanding of what customer service is.
