This hotel is located in an excellent location. Very close to many restaurants and shopping. We walked to lots of sights. They should not advertise AC. The room had one small Ac that barely had any cool air coming out. It was a very difficult to sleep even with 2 fans. It was about 28c and the room brought no relief from the heat. I can’t imagine being in this hotel when it’s above 30c like it has been lately

Dear Expedia Customer Support, My wife and I, senior citizens aged 71 and 77 and both in poor health, recently booked a 7-night stay through Expedia at Schlosshotel Römischer Kaiser in Vienna. Due to our medical conditions, we carefully choose hotels that meet essential requirements: central location, a working air conditioner, and elevator access. Regrettably, our stay was extremely disappointing and physically distressing due to the hotel's failure to provide a basic amenity—functional air conditioning—for five out of seven nights. The issue: Upon arrival, we were informed the air conditioning was not working but were assured it would be fixed the next day. That promise was repeated daily. Eventually, we learned from front desk staff that the hotel had scheduled a complete A/C system replacement, which had been planned well in advance. We were never informed of this before or at the time of booking. We tried to contact the hotel manager to express our concern, but he was out of the country. His only response, relayed through the receptionist, was to suggest we move to another hotel. This was not a realistic solution, as every nearby hotel was fully booked. Our suffering: Despite efforts by the receptionists (particularly Xiaoxi Wang, who was kind and professional throughout), the conditions in the room remained unbearable. The temporary air blower and portable air conditioner they provided were ineffective—the blower did not cool the room, and the portable unit was noi

Great central location. The hotel was nicely decorated in ornate Viennese style and maintained well. Our visit was summertime and the area experienced hotter than normal temperatures. Unfortunately the hotel air conditioning unit could not keep up with the heat and humidity load. The air from the room unit felt like recirculated fan air - no cooling. The room air did not feel cool until 2-3 AM and was just marginally cool. We were able to get a room fan to move the air more. It was the most uncomfortable 4 nights I have experienced. I do not feel the hotel can claim to have A/C during the summer. This may be true for a lot of European boutique hotels but temperatures above 80-85 degrees Fahrenheit overwhelm this A/C unit.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in a deluxe room. The hotel is situated in an excellent location to get to al popular attractions. It is very central but in a quiet cobbled authentic side street. The breakfast is very good with a lot of choice and as much as you want to eat. It is very clean but needs updating. It is in traditional style but shows its age. Our shower was from the bath taps although strong enough. Both plugs do not fit properly n the sick and bath. The bed is comfy. **Our main issue has been the air con. It just has not been adequate for the hot temperatures. We have not slept at all. Being in the room hasn’t been pleasant any time of the day but unbearable at night. When we asked we were told that there was nothing that could be done and we were offered a fan which did very little**. Sadly because of the air con we would not recommend.

The air conditioning wasn't working. At first they told us it would restart later at night. Then that they had to repair it. But we looked back at the previous reviews and it wasn't even working the weak before. If they had told us in advance we could have done plan something else. If there is a feature that isn't working the hotel should let you know ahead of time so we can adjust our plan. Overall since it was 30 degrees outside for the whole 5 days we were very disappointed. It might have been a 5 stars hotel before but it's definitely not up to date in 2024.

The air conditioning needs an upgrade as it did not keep the room cool

Close to the city centre, easy access to the subway station. Staffs are friendly, interior decoration is great. One thing I didn’t like was that there was no heater in the room and the building turned off the heater, and there was no electric heater in half of our stay. I hope the hotel could improve this.

Das Hotel ist wunderbar zentral aber dennoch ruhig gelegen. Man ist in wenigen Minuten am Stephansplatz bzw. am Karlsplatz. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer war ausreichend groß, aber leider funktionierte die Klima-Anlage nicht. Die Ausstattung ist gepflegt, aber in die Jahre gekommen. Duschen in einer Badewanne ist einfach nicht mehr zeitgemäß. Das Frühstück für 28 EUR pro Person haben wir nicht gewählt, so dass wir hierzu nichts weiter berichten können.

Do not stay here in the summer! The property does NOT have air conditioning! They say they do, but we had it set to the lowest temp and highest output and it was barely cool and you could only feel it blowing if you put your hand right on it. It was 90F/32C outside and much hotter inside. We couldn't spend any down time during the day in our room. We couldn't sleep at night. Upon bringing this up to the lady at the front desk, we were given a small fan that didn't help that much. We were given an excuse of the AC system being 30yrs old. This isn't a cheap hotel - use the money to upgrade your AC, it's not meant to work for 30yrs! Or stop misleading people and don't write that you have Air Conditioning when you don't! When we asked to get a refund/discount, we were told the manager will be in in half an hour. However, no phone call came, no one tried to contact us that day or the next. When asked again, we were told he is now on vacation. Also, they charge 28eur per person for breakfast, which is ridiculous. You can eat way way cheaper at most cafés right outside the front door. Oh, and it's just as hot in the breakfast area as the rest of the hotel. The room was small, barely space to open our suitcase. Every drawer in the room is only 3-4 inches deep- so you can't put your clothes in them. Room temp was melting chocolate. Took everything out of the minibar and used the fridge to keep our food cool. That fridge was never cold either, just cool. Wouldn't stay again

Die Mitarbeiter sind allesamt sehr freundlich und immer bemüht zu helfen. Das Frühstück bewerte ich nicht mit 4 Sternen. Leider waren wir eine Woche in Wien als 30 und mehr Grad herrschten. Das hat die Klimaanlage nicht geschafft. Das war nachts sehr schlimm. Da kann die Belegschaft nichts dafür. Sie müsste ausgetauscht werden, das ist aber bei „Denkmalschutz „ schwierig. Das Hotel liegt wurfweite zur Oper und zur großen Einkaufsstrasse, nette Restaurants vor der Tür(nicht das Autan vergessen), eine kleine Eisdiele unmittelbar vorm Eingang. Der rückwärtige Eingang führt rechts dann in weitere Lokale. Die Bierbar ist hervorragend.

The Schlosshotel is in an excellent location in the Inner Stadt area and very walkable to key monuments, shopping, restaurants, etc. The hotel staff are friendly with 24hr desk service. The facility and rooms have all amenities needed; coffee, water and treats in the lobby and espresso machine in the rooms. Overall, the hotel has classic Viennese styling which is nice, but could use some minor updates to rooms to improve rating.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Sauberkeit des Zimmers war in Ordnung bis auf kleine Nachlässigkeiten z.B. ein vergessener Putzlappen auf dem Nachtschrank. Die Lage des Hotels ist perfekt in einer ruhigen Seitenstrasse aber in der Nähe von vielen Restaurants, Cafes und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten sind gleich um die Ecke (Hofburg, Albertina, Staatstheater). Wer es klassisch mag ist hier genau richtig!

The hotel location is great from the Opera house, shopping, excellent restaurants and major landmarks. The bedding sheets and towels were not properly washed and dried. Found hairs on both.

Rent och snyggt! Trevlig och mycket serviceminded personal. Perfekt beläget mitt i centrum med endast ett par minuters promenad till Statsoperan. Fin frukost med allt man behöver för en bra start på dagen. Tyst och behagligt både inne och ute på gatan.

歴史を感じるホテルなので少し古さは感じますが、清掃も行き届いていて綺麗です。お部屋にシャンデリアがあったり、トイレと浴室がピンクですが品のいい感じでおしゃれで可愛らしかったです。 荷物を早めに預かって頂くことができて大変助かりました。早朝に伺うこともありましたが、受付は24時間対応で皆さん丁寧に親切に対応してくださいました。 朝食はオムレツかスクランブルエッグか目玉焼きはオーダーしたら作って運んできてくれます。コーヒーはティーポットみたいのに入れて持ってきてくれるので何度も頼まなくて済んで良かった上にとても美味しかったです。他のセルフサービスの朝食は会場がそんなに大きくないので種類も少ないですが、一般的なヨーロッパのホテルのバリエーションといった感じです。 エレベーターが狭く、大人2人と大きなスーツケース2個でほぼいっぱいになってしまう感じなので、混雑時は待つか階段使用となると思いますが、私達が滞在した時は混みあうことはありませんでした。

Great little boutique hotel very close to all the attractions on a quiet street. Room was a little dated but charming and was large and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was small but nice. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is an excellent boutique hotel. It is small with around 40 rooms. Each room is decorated and furnished in traditional Austrian style. Nice lobby with a couple of chandeliers, one little water feature, sitting room and BF area on the ground level. There is an elevator. BF was great, very cosy, nicely decorated with an ample selection of breads, pasteries, meats, cold shrimp, caviar, cheeses and fruits. Location cannot be better - between St Stephen’s Cathedral and State Opera House, two blocks off Karntner Strasse, an upscale busy street with shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had a room with multiple windows onto some kind of inner space/roof. I could see construction material there, so I asked at reception what was going on. I was assured that there was some work going on at another level and that nothing would start until 9am. The next morning I heard lound banging aroung 7am, went to the window and came face to face with a worker. Reception continued to tell me lies, like they would just be loading some material through the hall way windows and then would stop the noise, but that was not true. When we went downstairs for breakfast, we were surprised at how minimal the offerings were, especially for us as we don't eat meat. So we asked for scrambled eggs and were given the most overcooked eggs we have ever had. After we abandoned ship and went to another hotel for our remaining 2 nights in Vienna (BTW, a much nicer hotel with excellent breakfast offerings and a very attentive reception), we returned to the Schlosshotel and found the entire reception area covered with drop cloths as they worked on electrical in the ceiling. In other words, the entire hotel was involved in construction, and we were being charged normal prices for a less than normal experience. There were no apologies. Just an awful experience, but the good news was that leaving there led us to a superior hotel experience for the same price or less.

Hotel in excellent location for walking around, restaurants and shopping. Close to sights. Beds were a little firm for our preference. Staff was friendly. Could probably use some updating. No bar but you can order drinks. Beautiful breakfast area.

Don’t stay in room 11. It sounded like we were staying in a wind tunnel. The room wasn’t great, they gave us one bath towel and one hand towel for two guests. I will say the breakfast was pretty good. They weren’t going to offer you anything extra unless you asked though. I think you could find a better hotel in Vienna for the price.

Wonderful Hotel ideally situated within the Ringstrasse with great shopping and restaurants close by. Also within easy walking distance to most of the major attractions in Vienna i.e. Sisi Museum, Spanish Riding School, Opera, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the National Museum. Very accommodating staff, great breakfast and large and very comfortable rooms. Would definitely look forward to staying there the next visit to Vienna.

This hotel provided us with a wonderful lodging place for a first visit to Vienna over a relaxing six day stay. Its location could not be better... near to all major attractions by walk or by public transit. Especially convenient if you are attending a concert at the Musikverein (Vienna Philharmonic) or performance at the Vienna Opera. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Many nearby restaurant options. The room was well kept and decorated beautifully in wood paneling, with a historical feel.

This is a very convenient location. It is walkable to the Opera House, Hofburg Palace, and shopping areas. The breakfast is a small area, but it has good food options and great vibe with Mozart playing in the background. There is no AC in the room as is standard in Vienna, so we slept with the window open. There was some construction and loud people in the alley in the middle of the night. The front desk was not very knowledgeable about Vienna or helpful. We had to confirm multiple times with the front desk about our airport transfer.

Great location. Xuanig(spelling) was exceptional. Genuinely friendly and so helpful!! She is an asset to your hotel!

Vi bodde här i två nätter och det är ett av de mysigaste, sötaste hotellen vi bott på. Här är nära till precis allt i centrala Wien. Det enda som gör att vi inte ger full pott är att vi saknade lite i frukostutbudet. Vi hade gärna sett mer varm mat och pannkakor.

The room is old world elegance. The optional breakfast was a wonderful experience worth every euro. Easy walking distance to at least 6 cafes! We loved our stay there with the warm staff.

Les +: double porte dans la chambre pour éviter d’être dérangé par le bruit., déco typique, bien placé, café, gâteau et bonbons à disposition dans le hall d’entrée, des, laque et accessoires dans les toilettes de l’hôtel. Les - : réseau internet pourri, clim bruyante, lit séparé pour les couples, petit déjeuner mitigé, du choix mais restriction sévère sur le Nutella, confiture… pas de prise de commande alors qu’ils proposent œufs et omelette sur commande.

Centrally located, and can pretty much walk to all top rated attractions. Extremely clean and quiet. The breakfast is simply delicious with lots of choices. The staff onsite are fluent in English and very eager to help out.
