We had a lovely stay. Very spacious outside, great pool and hot tub. Beautiful view of Mt. Tam. Walking distance to downtown Fairfax. Can definitely recommend and would love to come back!

Everything about this place was just perfect. The view the pool, the Jacuzzi, the steam bath, everything. It was absolutely so clean and well stocked with everything from spices to little snacks, a beautiful table setting, every bit of equipment we could possibly want, super comfy bed and couch. The home itself is so well built and well designed, with stunning views over the valley. Vicky was easy to reach and prompt with her responses. I can’t think of enough nice things to say about this place. Maybe of the more than 100 vacation rentals that we’ve been in over the last five or seven years, this was the best.

First off, the property is exactly as described with stunning views of the mountainside from the infinity pool, relaxing hot tub, comfortable living spaces and quiet and humble surroundings. Vicki was great, although we didn't interact much, it was clear that she wanted to allow us our space and enjoy our vacation. She was there if we needed her, but respected our privacy. Check in was great - no problems and Vicki provided good detailed instructions! The home itself was spectacular. I knew the view and amenities were going to be great from prior reviews, but what I didn't expect was the minor details of the home that I would come to respect so much! The unique door handles, stained glass and the bedroom door were a few of my favorites. It just added a uniqueness to the space. I know this is a review for the VRBO, but I would be doing a disservice if I did not also speak to the town of Fairfax. WOW. The restaurants, the shops, THE PEOPLE, I just don't have the words. The food was excellent everywhere we went, Sorella Caffe, My Thai Fairfax, and Ghiringhelli's Pizzeria to name a few. I only wish I could have been there longer to try every single restaurant, there were so many on my list. The shops were such a fun walkabout in town. There were two shops that we went in that happened to be closed at the time and both shop owners INSISTED we look around. This brings me to the people. The people of Fairfax made my trip. So down to earth. TEN STARS, I'll be back.

Private and lovely place in a cute Northern Californian town. We really enjoyed the hot tub and steam shower. It is also a really central location for everything (Highway 1, wine country, San Francisco, etc). Clean and comfortable place with a beautiful view. Excellent communication from the owner. We would definitely stay again!

Amazing location and quiet! Close enough to San Francisco (about 45 minute drive) to enjoy the sites during the day and enjoy a quiet evening/night away from the hustle and bustle. Relaxing in the hot tub and the shower/sauna at the end of the day was amazing! Vicki was very attentive to any questions we had prior and during our stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mountain View Retreat. FYI it's on and up a Mountain so be prepared for a short up hill drive. The directions were good, the check in process okay. The more you do the drive and entry the easier it will become. Getting there with the use of a personal (spouse) co-pilot will really help. Upon arriving you will have a private lower-level unit to yourself with a beautiful view, large patio setup with grill, pool (too cold and rainy for our stay), wonderful hot tub, comfy bed, large shower and 2 tv's. Kitchen was adequate for two people with enough plates, silverware and glasses. Stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven included but with a smaller half size fridge. No dishwasher but it was relaxing to hand wash our dishes. Would stay again especially if you wanted to hunker down and unwind for a few days.

We had the most wonderful time at Vicki's beautiful property. Every aspect of this home is outstanding. The kitchen is fully equipped although we mostly had food delivered, the living room and dining room are small but cozy, the outside patio is large and so inviting, the bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fabulous! but the absolute best thing about Vicki's place is the view overlooking the infinity pool that absolutely took our breath away! We had lazy mornings by the pool or on the beautiful patio, then we would go and explore the surrounding area.... we hiked Mount Tamalpais which you can see from the pool! we visited some wineries, had a lovely long walk at Point Reyes, drove some of Route 1 and visited cute little towns but always made sure we were back to enjoy a few hours by the pool every afternoon with a cocktail. It was our favorite part of the day! We enjoyed our stay so much, it truly is a little slice of heaven. We hope to return again one day!

The location was great for us to visit San Fran and Napa during our stay. It was also just up the hill from downtown restaurants and shops. The home was clean and well equipped for us to prepare our own meals. Vicki was very responsive to any of our needs or questions. We will definitely return when we come back to the area.

We had a wonderful time at Vics property! The place was beautiful and in the most beautiful setting. I wish we could have used the pool, but was too cold. Loved the coziness of the space, the steam shower was amazing, the jacuzzi under the stars, impeccable landscaping and the cute little family of raccoons who visited every night! BUT, what I appreciated the most was how warm, accommodating, and quick to respond Vic was. We will definitely try to get back to stay again!

This spot is a complete gem. The grounds are immaculate, peaceful and designed so you can just relax and be still. Yet, the town center is a mere 15 minute walk and has lots of wonderful restaurants, charming shops and an incredible coffee shop. Within 30 minutes you can be hiking among the redwoods or hanging out in Berkeley/Oakland area. We would absolutely come back again. The space, amenities and location make this one of the best rentals we've ever stayed at. Thank you so much!

This location in Fairfax was a truly remarkable oasis. My husband and I enjoyed soaking in the sunshine and long evening chats in the hot tub while star gazing. Lovely, clean space for a getaway!

We had four nights at Mountain View Retreat. The property was in a great location with great proximity to all the places we wanted to go. Beaches, town and Sonoma. The bed was very comfortable and the steam shower was amazing. The best part of the property was the outdoor area and the pool; the views where spectacular. The neighbors were very quiet. Vicki was easy to communicate with and responsive. The road to the house was challenging, but we got used to it!

We had an amazing stay at Vicki’s. Communication was easy. The location is perfect: Fairfax is a sweet town, close to Point Reyes, Bolinas and other Marin highlights. SF is only 40 minutes away. The apartment was very pleasant, bed extremely comfortable. Deck with bbq delightful. And the view over the pool fabulous. We very much hope to stay here again.

We stayed at this property in April for a week-long getaway. The property is gorgeous with fantastic mountain views. We stayed in the downstairs unit. The vintage look and feel of the decor made everything very warm and inviting. That was very comfortable and made for good night's sleep. Outside there is furniture under a covered deck for you to lounge on. The pool was too cold for us to use but the infinity pool gave great views to the mountainside below the location is in acquaint town of Fairfax. One thing to be mindful of is the challenging drive up and down the mountain to get to the home. The road is a two-way road that is barely wide enough for one car. When someone comes the other way you have to be creative on how to get by them. At night up near the house are a pair of deer that seem to have no fear of anybody. Overall, I would highly recommend this home for a couple's getaway.

We loved staying in Vicki’s home. She is so welcoming. Her pool apartment is lovely. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen well appointed and the outdoor seating was so relaxing.We sat outside each morning having our coffee taking in the beautiful view and watching the hummingbirds. Absolutely loved our stay in Mt. View retreat. A private sanctuary with an infinity pool that looks down into the valley below and across the mountian. Hummingbirds flutter around the lovely gardens. Very much enjoyed our week in this rental. Everything was just as advertised. This is definitely a mountain location—a steep road up but it was manageable and the view was worth it. Vicki was a fantastic host and her property (and the surrounding area) is just as beautiful as the pictures. Highly recommend staying at the mountain view retreat, whether just for rest and relaxation by the pool while taking in the mountain views or as a home base for your Marin County, wine country, or even SF centric activities.

We had a wonderful time at Vics property! The place was beautiful and in the most beautiful setting. I wish we could have used the pool, but was too cold. Loved the coziness of the space, the steam shower was amazing, the jacuzzi under the stars, impeccable landscaping and the cute little family of raccoons who visited every night! BUT, what I appreciated the most was how warm, accommodating, and quick to respond Vic was. We will definitely try to get back to stay again!

It was better than I expected. The property is even more beautiful and relaxing than the pictures indicate. Pool and hot tub were both great. Property owner was very attentive and left lots of yummy snacks for us hungry travelers. We usually stay in the city at a high end hotel, but I’m definitely coming back the next time we’re in the area.

First off, the property is exactly as described with stunning views of the mountainside from the infinity pool, relaxing hot tub, comfortable living spaces and quiet and humble surroundings. Vicki was great, although we didn't interact much, it was clear that she wanted to allow us our space and enjoy our vacation. She was there if we needed her, but respected our privacy. Check in was great - no problems and Vicki provided good detailed instructions! The home itself was spectacular. I knew the view and amenities were going to be great from prior reviews, but what I didn't expect was the minor details of the home that I would come to respect so much! The unique door handles, stained glass and the bedroom door were a few of my favorites. It just added a uniqueness to the space. I know this is a review for the VRBO, but I would be doing a disservice if I did not also speak to the town of Fairfax. WOW. The restaurants, the shops, THE PEOPLE, I just don't have the words. The food was excellent everywhere we went, Sorella Caffe, My Thai Fairfax, and Ghiringhelli's Pizzeria to name a few. Amazing location and quiet! Close enough to San Francisco (about 45 minute drive) to enjoy the sites during the day and enjoy a quiet evening/night away from the hustle and bustle. Relaxing in the hot tub and the shower/sauna at the end of the day was amazing! Vicki was very attentive to any questions we had prior and during our stay.

We had four nights at Mountain View Retreat. The property was in a great location with great proximity to all the places we wanted to go. Beaches, town and Sonoma. The bed was very comfortable and the steam shower was amazing. The best part of the property was the outdoor area and the pool; the views where spectacular. The neighbors were very quiet. Vicki was easy to communicate with and responsive. The road to the house was challenging, but we got used to it!

We had an amazing stay at Vicki’s. Communication was easy. The location is perfect: Fairfax is a sweet town, close to Point Reyes, Bolinas and other Marin highlights. SF is only 40 minutes away. The apartment was very pleasant, bed extremely comfortable. Deck with bbq delightful. And the view over the pool fabulous. We very much hope to stay here again.

Beautiful view, very close to town. Great location!!! Road is a bit tricky to get up to house, definitely need to go slow and pay attention for oncoming cars. Host was great, really didn’t require much while there since we were doing a lot of sightseeing.

This spot is a complete gem. The grounds are immaculate, peaceful and designed so you can just relax and be still. Yet, the town center is a mere 15 minute walk and has lots of wonderful restaurants, charming shops and an incredible coffee shop. Within 30 minutes you can be hiking among the redwoods or hanging out in Berkeley/Oakland area. We would absolutely come back again. The space, amenities and location make this one of the best rentals we've ever stayed at. Thank you so much!

We stayed at this property in April for a week-long getaway. The property is gorgeous with fantastic mountain views. We stayed in the downstairs unit. The vintage look and feel of the decor made everything very warm and inviting. That was very comfortable and made for good night's sleep. Outside there is furniture under a covered deck for you to lounge on. The pool was too cold for us to use but the infinity pool gave great views to the mountainside below the location is in acquaint town of Fairfax. One thing to be mindful of is the challenging drive up and down the mountain to get to the home. The road is a two-way road that is barely wide enough for one car. When someone comes the other way you have to be creative on how to get by them. At night up near the house are a pair of deer that seem to have no fear of anybody. Overall, I would highly recommend this home for a couple's getaway.

We had the most wonderful time at Vicki's beautiful property. Every aspect of this home is outstanding. The kitchen is fully equipped although we mostly had food delivered, the living room and dining room are small but cozy, the outside patio is large and so inviting, the bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was fabulous! but the absolute best thing about Vicki's place is the view overlooking the infinity pool that absolutely took our breath away! We had lazy mornings by the pool or on the beautiful patio, then we would go and explore the surrounding area.... we hiked Mount Tamalpais which you can see from the pool! we visited some wineries, had a lovely long walk at Point Reyes, drove some of Route 1 and visited cute little towns but always made sure we were back to enjoy a few hours by the pool every afternoon with a cocktail. It was our favorite part of the day! We enjoyed our stay so much, it truly is a little slice of heaven. We hope to return again one day!

We had the best time at the Mountain Retreat! The pool and view from it is just stunning, and the porch is perfect for an afternoon charcuterie board. As others have mentioned, it's a windy and narrow way up! However, the drivers are quite cautious and my husband and I felt comfortable enough walking down into town along the road.

Although I gave an excellant review the manual referred to the smoke alarms in the main sitting area and how they might go off if using the sauna in the bathroom unless you closed the door to the hallway. However, the smoke alarm was missing from it's spot. There was 1 in down the hall near the bedroom. The handle to the front door was also loose and fell off several times when closing the door. Otherwise, the home and surrounding property were beautiful and we enjoyed the stay!
