Clean room, free laundry, staff was very helpful. Room was thoroughly cleaned. Would definitely stay again!

We generally had a good stay at 17John. The room was very spacious and relatively quiet, with minimal noise from the street or neighbouring rooms. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use. There also was plenty of space to store clothes and other belongings. And the location is a strong point, there’s lots to do nearby, and subway access is excellent. That said, there were a few major drawbacks during our stay: • We had to wait around 40 minutes before being able to access our room at check-in. • The air conditioning wasn’t working for the first few days and, once repaired, was still extremely noisy when in use. • The lighting in the room was quite poor: limited natural light combined with dim interior lighting made the space feel darker than it should. • There was a period when the water stopped running entirely for multiple hours, which was quite inconvenient. • The reception staff weren’t particularly helpful when we had questions or needed assistance. With a few improvements, this could be a much more comfortable and reliable place to stay.

Great wifi for remote working and desk setup. Loved the location. This is a hotel/airbnb hybrid so they didn’t have the cleaning services of a typical hotel. Someone was at the front desk at all times.

We were looking for an apartment hotel that would have a room or studio with a kitchen for three people and that would be in a good state of maintenance. We discovered several branches of sonder and of them we chose Sonder City Hall because of good reviews and the location. We received a room that met our expectations, well equipped, spacious. In addition to the things that were in the room, you could get toilet paper, dishwasher capsules, washing tablets and other necessary things for staying at the hotel at any time. The representatives at the reception were very nice. The hotel is close to the World Trade Center and the 9.11 Memorial. Adjacent to the hotel is a metro station, a supermarket a few minutes' walk away and many shops and cafes around. The stay was very comfortable except for a small incident with one of the air conditioners that did not work and was not repaired even though we asked. We did not respond to the request to get another blanket. Another thing that would be good if they improved is an incoming lobby mode. In fact there is no lobby, it is not a hotel in the usual sense but a building where the 2-6 floors have offices and the 7-14 floors have an apartment for short-term or long-term rent. Bottom line, the stay at Sonder City Hall was successful for us

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay in a spacious and well equipped apartment in 17 John. Everything we could need for a short stay in New York was available. Apartments are just a few minutes walk from Fulton Street subway, but also surrounded by local shops and restaurants. Brooklyn Bridge is also just a few minutes walk away. Reception is manned 24/7, and were really helpful. A small problem with one of the doors in our apartment was fixed on the day reported. Recommended, and hope to return when we next visit New York.

The room was very nice and clean upon arrival with all I was expecting from an appartment style hotel. Great location for who's looking to stay on Financial District. + Laundry machines are free of use. I just don't give a 5 stars review because I thought very surprising that even during a trip of 9 nights, the hotel didn't offer any room cleaning. They offered fresh towels but if I wanted to change the sheets, I had to take care of that. + one of the receptionist could definetly use a little more kindness and smiles (all the others were great!)

Our room was huge! Nice, apartments style with kitchen, 2 sitting areas and bedroom, bath. Reasonably quiet. Not your typical hotel experience...someone is on duty at all times but it is not a hotel lobby, reception area. Honestly, we asked for a pillow and it took days and multiple requests to get one. Finally my husband went to the room on the hall where the cleaning staff was based and got one. We didn't need any services and we were fine with that. But don't expect to have your beds made, etc. Convenient location....odd vibe with sort of gritte side street vibe, but never felt unsafe. Easy access to subway and all of lower Manhattan. I would stay again.

We definitely recommend and would stay again. I was there for the NYC 2024 marathon and would highly recommend for the reason cost and the closeness to subway and Ferry Station. A few things to also consider, the mini kitchen is helpful to stock leftover and morning of race breakfast. 2 doors down is a CVS for your water/Milk/snack and last minute items. keep in mind you are in NYC so the loud noises, honking, people are just part of the experience. Although we had WiFi issues the 1st and 2nd day we were there the staff was so nice and pleasant. Also the luggage lockers were very helpful with early and late check in and out.

Only stayed for the night but was a great little spot right next to Fulton Street Subway…you can walk to anything downtown from here…huge room with kitchen, big bathroom, tons of closet room also

We booked the suite for 18 days. But at 14 days, we found out there was a rat in our room. It ate our food in the fridge because the fridge somehow opened. We asked the staffs to check it up, and they found a rat house behind the fridge. It means the rat was there the whole time we were staying. We had an 16 months, so we had to find another place with a higher price due to the picked season. Hate this NY experience so bad though the hotel refund the last 4 days to us.

Room was extremely tired and cabinets and floor showed signs of water damage. The hallways leading to the rooms were dirty, and although your website said that if we wanted housekeeping we needed to give notice, it did not mention a $100 per day fee. That was unacceptable! You completely misled me, and your only offer to remedy the situation was to pay for it and ask you for reimbursement. Hotels.com has lost me as a customer over this.

This place is really run down - The A/C was broken in my room, the toilet seat was really dirty and covered in marks, and housekeeping is not included. Its a $100 up-charge each time you need it. I went down to the front desk to ask if I could have some towels (no) toilet paper (yes) and asked the guy if there were some way to get in touch with him other than taking the elevator down (no phone in the room). Spoiler alert - the answer was no. When I looked surprised he just said "yeah, this place doesn't make any sense to me." I felt really bad for him. None of the common areas (like the lobby where he sits at the desk, were air conditioned and it was 90 degrees out. He said "yeah... I got my little fan though" and pointed at a desk fan. Oh, the code to my room would randomly stop working and I would have to take the elevator back down to get a new one. And the lobby smelled bad.

Very nice apartment-style hotel. Shower had a weird smell, but everything else was perfect. Definitely recommend.

Room was clean, well designed, good size and comfortable. Location was convenient and nearby many subway lines and restaurants. But, there were issues, and communication felt tacky and unprofessional (not like anything I’ve experienced before). Issues included door code didn’t work and we had to contact for an updated one. There was such a scarcity / cheap mentality of things like coffee (2 packs for a 5 night stay), exactly 2 towels for my husband and I (so don’t think of one for your hair or if one towel gets dirty), and no cleaning during stay. Most unfortunate and uncomfortable were the multiple emails that pretended to asked if we needed anything. When we asked for a one hour earlier check-in or late check-out we would be happy to pay for, that wasn’t available. Instead they pressured us to check in later than the 4pm checkin time to give the cleaning staff more time. Then we had folks at our door before check out time. They also emailed us to let them know as soon as we are out so they can come in to clean. I wouldn’t stay again because of how unprofessional and tacky this communication was. Just let us check in at 4pm and check out at 11am as we paid thousands for without all these emails to let them know if we are arriving later or leaving earlier so they can have more time to clean (though they never cleaned during our stay).

Great place to stay in the city. Spacious, modern, clean and in a great location. The only issue I had was with the coffee maker which I reported on my departure and the management team said they would fix right away. Overall a very positive experience.

As former New Yorkers we were excited to find 17 John with such beautifully designed rooms with tons of space and kitchen! The room we selected was larger than most studio apartments in the city. We soon discovered the operations and hospitality did not match the talented design firm hired to design their rooms. Entering our room we were taken back by the large chunks of plastic missing from the windows sills. One wall appeared to have been repaired a multitude of times but each time repaired with a different shade of white. Other repairs were just plaster slapped into holes in the wall. The most disappointing was the bathroom, the shower did not have a curtain and as a result water would splash on to the wall and puddle by the door way, the water never seemed to dry up.. this I’m am sure has been happening for a while judging from the decay in the plaster. In regard to service, there was typically one person at the front desk, all of which seemed more akin to a doorman of an office building than a hotel. There was an overall lack of hospitality training and feeling of luxury and service that the online images portray.

There was a lot of construction noise from hotel work being done during the day while I was staying. The lighting really could have been better in the room, even with all the lights on it was dim and the top bolt on my door didn't work. Overall it was a really great room, clean, large, easy to use, and a great location with the subway on the corner of the same block. Target and Whole Foods are within walking distance, as is the Brooklyn Bridge,

My room door lock was broken, when I proceeded to tell the booking staff member, Eros, he told me that building management will be up shortly. After 30 mins, I had to go downstairs and find out that the management had left for the day. Building staff and Booking staff have very poor communication because Eros had no idea what I was talking about. The supposed group chat that they have is clearly ineffective. I had to stay in a room with a broken lock and it doesn’t matter if there is a keypad, that room should have a working interior lock. As I explained to Eros as well, I’ve visited multiple establishments where they indeed had an electronic keypad and a functioning interior lock. Eros insured me that I would be moved to another room and never heard from him again regarding the matter. As a guest of your establishment, you made me feel as if my concerns were not the least bit important.

I’ve stayed here many times over the last 5 years often for a week or two at a time while the property was under different management. When the AC stopped working and the room temp climbed to 82F I expected some help. While my email communication got quick answers, I spent two sweaty nights (the windows barely open), and no offer to change rooms or otherwise provide relief despite my requests. I’ve made repeated requests to management, but now that I’ve checked out am being ghosted. The problem with these apart hotel places is when something goes wrong it feels like no one is around to help.

Highly recommend this property. If there was any problem, one phone call and it was immediately taken care of. Fantastic staff and hotel. Go there, you will not be disappointed.

Downtown location is very convenient to the WTC, shopping, and dining, and it’s right next door to the Fulton subway station (multiple lines, and you won’t even get wet in the rain). 16 minutes to Jersey City by PATH, and multiple lines can take you uptown, plus close to Tribeca. Great long term stay- friendly front desk, very easy check in and check out, laundry room is a huge bonus. The 1 BR was a huge space by NY standards. with comfy beds and google streaming TV. Very happy with Sonder, and highly recommend!

Really enjoyed my time here. The room was clean and stylish, and the location couldn’t be better. close to the subway, good coffee spots, and the World Trade Center area. Everything felt easy and comfortable. I’d happily stay here again.

The apartment was a great size with all you would need The staff were great The subway was very near by so convenient with lots of eating options and things to see. The area was a bit run down but safe
