We went to see Colonial Williamsburg and our colonial house was right in the middle. Close to everything. It is apart of the Williamsburg Inn as well, which gave us access to their amenities.

Lovely experience, as always. The Colonial Houses are very neat, though some seem to be in need of an interior refresh. Fun to be amidst the action and very convenient though. The location can’t be beat, and the Inn staff is great. Nice gym too.

Overall a very immersive experience. The room was convenient to all things Colonial Williamsburg The room had some condition issues and the parking was inadequate, creating the need to park blocks away and walk in.

Please be aware that there is an additional $30 per day resort fee whether or not you use the resort facilities. The check in location is not co-located with the room. The facility has steep steps that would be difficult for elderly or handicapped to access.

We celebrated our anniversary in one of the tavern rooms on the Main Street in Williamsburg. Excellent location to walk to everything, good parking, friendly staff, and very quiet at night. The furnishings in our room were a bit worn, but it was very clean and the bed comfortable.

It was comfortable and in a great and unique location. The bathroom was not as clean as I would expect it to be. I had already paid the total on Expedia and yet was charged a resort fee when I checked out. All in all I would stay here again but not in the tavern.

We love that the Brick House is right on Duke of Gloucester Street. Parking is available, but you do have to walk around the building. The bathrooms are TINY, making it difficult to carry out toiletries, but very clean. Noise is a bit of an issue - people coming and going is pretty loud. Water running, toilets flushing, people walking around is heard. All that said, we have returned to the Brick House 3 times, and the location is worth the bothersome issues. Location, location, location!! All staff is very friendly and eager to help.

The location of the Colonial Houses and the idea behind Colonial Williamsburg are awesome. However, the homes are in poor condition and are far too overpriced for the lodging provided. Our room was dirty and smelled like mildew. Didn’t have any lighting in the bathroom and no ventilation. We have stayed in renovated and historic housing before and were disappointed that the Colonial Houses didn’t match up to expectations.

Location was great; but, room is extremely basic and not worth the price. There was mold on bathroom ceiling. Room needs to be cleaned and painted. An extra blanket in the dresser stunk badly when I opened the drawer so I just closed it back up. There's very little attention to detail in room maintenance.

Loved the location , but there’s a list of bad things. 1. No switch to turn on and off the bathroom lights. 2. Bathroom was very cold. 3. Black mold at bottom of tiles. 4. Dark baseboard was dirty on top. 5. Carpet was gross. 6. When the light came across the wall mirror, you could see the coating of dust.

The main con- it was early January, and when I turned the heat on, the vent in the ceiling made a LOUD roaring sound, like a box fan on high. But even worse, it would then randomly fluctuation to a low whir, then to silence, then a whir, then a ROAR, then silence, then a ROAR, then a whir.... Since it was random, you could NOT get used to it. Just to sleep, we turned the heat OFF. Around 10 pm I called housekeeping and the man basically said, "it's an old system... nothing we can do." With a blanket it was ok, but had it been bitter cold outside, we would have had to choose between sleep or freezing!

When you book into the Colonial Houses, know what you are getting into. The buildings are lovely, but old. The rooms are not plush. The bathrooms are small. We were the only people in an entire building with many bedrooms, yet we were placed on the second floor. Why? You can’t beat the location, and Williamsburg is so lovely, but there are more comfortable rooms available.
When you book into the Colonial Houses, know what you are getting into. The buildings are lovely, but old. The rooms are not plush. The bathrooms are small. But the rooms are quite tiered, while normally quiet you can hear everyone else going in and out of their rooms, and the lack of amenities in the building is not up to the price. For the money, I'd stay at one of their other facilities next time.

My spouse and I just returned from a two-night stay in the Brick Tavern. We loved the convenience of being right on the street where we could walk to everything in the village. The building was most likely constructed in the 1930s and you will not be staying in a luxury room! We were on the third floor (which I liked) and the shower is in the dormer. I am 5'4" and could just barely stand up in the middle of the shower. I cannot imagine a person over six feet tall would be comfortable in that shower. If you're tall, I would suggest you request a lower floor. I also would not plan on staying in that small space with someone you are not intimately comfortable with! The tub is also quite old and if you are concerned about appearances, this may not be the choice for you. The accommodations are "well-worn". We found it quaint and enjoyed being close to all of the beautiful structures. We were only able to eat at one restaurant on property- Shields Tavern- during our stay, but it was lovely and would highly recommend.

Very nice historic property, easy walkable and with many beautiful renovated and rebuils buildings from the colonial past. The standard doublerooms are pretty small and so are the beds. I would recommend booking a suite or a house for slightly more comfort.

Colonial houses are an opportunity to stay right in the midst of historic Williamsburg . The location could not be any more convenient. We stayed at Brick House Tavern on the second floor. The bed was comfortable and the room nicely decorated. However the rooms were last updated about 30-40 years ago estimating by the fixtures, etc. The rooms rates are reasonable based on location but are not reasonable based on the out of date locks (old fashioned brass keys) , bathroom plumbing and scarcity of electric outlets . An upgrade is needed. The room was very clean and bed comfortable so the basics were there. With taxes and fees we paid just over $200 nightly . At that level an upgrade is appropriate.

Hotel and grounds are beautiful but we stayed in one of the houses in an upstairs unit. Very old original but clean and decent bedding. However, you couldn’t open the windows and the air conditioning unit was extremely loud so not very easy to sleep. Bar and restaurant very good too.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Loved the original 1700s building of the Tavern House we stayed in…part of the Colonial Houses hotel (check-in is at Williamsburg Inn, a 2 minute walk away). They provide a courtesy car to drive you to the train station (20 min walk away). There’s also a concierge to help with scheduling activities, if needed. Would definitely stay at this charming place again!

Check-in was confusing as directions to the house and parking was confusing as signage was poor or non-existent. Also the utilities and flooring needed updating/refreshing as the toilet and shower kept running/leaking, the shower pressure was terrible and the room was difficult to temperature control (thermostat didn't seem to work). I also called to request ice and an extra blanket to be delivered to the room and they failed to be delivered at the agreed upon time. We called again and had to wait almost an hour. Recommend staying at the main hotel or Williamsburg Inn.

Plenty of places to eat..ease of access…my only concern is I placed Do Not Disturb on outside of door and we left, came back to bed changed, new supplies, etc. Didn’t really want anyone in room when we occupied but it was fine. Thanks…Every Bellman was just plain awesome 👍🙏

I'm extremely impressed from start to finish! Before my visit I reached out to the hotel, Katlean was so pleasent and helpful. Check in was amazing Candy and Tracy were wonderful, so kind and helpful. It was a great experience. I would recommend your resort to anyone. Your people really do make a difference!

We celebrated our anniversary in one of the tavern rooms on the Main Street in Williamsburg. Excellent location to walk to everything, good parking, friendly staff, and very quiet at night. The furnishings in our room were a bit worn, but it was very clean and the bed comfortable.

We usually go several times a year to Williamsburg. This was the second time we stayed in the Colonial Houses. It’s a true experience. Nothing fancy but if you’re a Williamsburg enthusiasts like we are, then you would enjoy staying in the housing. They are conveniently located within walking distance to all the activities.

The main thing here is that the accommodation is right in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. It couldn't possibly be a better location. So the room is pretty expensive, but IMO absolutely worth it for the special experience it provides. Working with the Williamsburg Inn for the trip was also a nice experience. I booked a queen room colonial house, which ended up being a room in a larger colonial house with many rooms. However, it was completely silent. I will be back to stay in one of the colonial houses.

Lovely experience, as always. The Colonial Houses are very neat, though some seem to be in need of an interior refresh. Fun to be amidst the action and very convenient though. The location can’t be beat, and the Inn staff is great. Nice gym too.

My spouse and I just returned from a two-night stay in the Brick Tavern. We loved the convenience of being right on the street where we could walk to everything in the village. The building was most likely constructed in the 1930s and you will not be staying in a luxury room! We were on the third floor (which I liked) and the shower is in the dormer. I am 5'4" and could just barely stand up in the middle of the shower. I cannot imagine a person over six feet tall would be comfortable in that shower. If you're tall, I would suggest you request a lower floor. I also would not plan on staying in that small space with someone you are not intimately comfortable with! The tub is also quite old and if you are concerned about appearances, this may not be the choice for you. The accommodations are "well-worn". We found it quaint and enjoyed being close to all of the beautiful structures. We were only able to eat at one restaurant on property- Shields Tavern- during our stay, but it was lovely and would highly recommend.

The room was comfortable and very clean! Right in the historic village. Ghost tour was awesome as was our meal at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern. If booking through hotels.com, verify weather the museum’s entrance charge is included, some confusion about that!

The houses are part of the Williamsburg Inn. My cabin was a bit rustic and the Inn is really elegant, best of two worlds. Close to the taverns, etc. I enjoyed the privacy of my own structure. And I had a designated parking place! The electric outlets didn’t all work, the toilet was temperamental, and it took me a long time to figure out how to lock the door from the inside. I went to the Inn for two meals. Yummy food and friendly service. Pricey!

Hotel and grounds are beautiful but we stayed in one of the houses in an upstairs unit. Very old original but clean and decent bedding. However, you couldn’t open the windows and the air conditioning unit was extremely loud so not very easy to sleep. Bar and restaurant very good too.

We enjoyed ourselves in the quaint kind of room we were. The room was freezing when we got there, but managed to adjust it well. The place had a beautiful atmosphere-especially at night. The streets were quiet and "very colonial".

The "pool" advertised is a half mile away. The room you select when booking is not the room you get. They really don't like "third party" bookings. They try to upsell their services and it's already really expensive to stay in these tiny rooms. I am 5'7” tall and hit my head 3 times on the slanted shower ceiling. There is no comfortable seating in the room and the slanted ceiling makes it uncomfortable to sit on the bed. And after all that, they charge $35 for parking a half a block away. The floors need to be swept or vacuumed. The bed got dirty because our feet picked up the crud from the floor. Would not stay here again.
