Good for couples, small families wanting location for the beach, dining options, quick transit into La Jolla. They offer a 5 mile shuttle but it’s not free. Part of the 32 per day resort fee on top of room charge. Plus the 43 per day parking fee. So yeah. If you want close to the beach, you’re paying for it. Rooms are a little cramped for 4 or more people.

Beautiful location. Definitely not for business though. WI-FI was off for two days and phones did not work either. If all you want is food and beach, this is a good spot, but if you have business needs go up the coast to the Hilton.

The location of the property is very good if you are interested in being on the Shores. However, the age of the property is showing and things look a little worn, musty smell etc. My main issue however is that I selected this property based on location (and previous stay) for a quiet, peaceful beach retreat. This was true most evenings except Friday night when the hotel had an event it the courtyard within a few feet of my window involving very loud (and really bad) karaoke until late in the night. When I commented about this at the front desk I was told that:" Weddings are always more fun when you are invited." I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one. Was it my fault for staying at the hotel without being invited to the random wedding outside my window? In any case be aware of events in the courtyard if interested in quiet location.

Location, location, location! Being on the beach was the best! Loved looking out at the ocean. The facilities were a bit outdated, but everything was clean enough. The location was nice and quiet, away from the beaten path and away from downtown La Jolla. Plenty of eating places within walking distance of the hotel. Easy enough to find parking on the street (free!), to avoid paying $40 ight parking fee in the hotel garage.

Enjoyed everything, except: - dated hotel, stained and broken parts of the room in bathroom areas, wifi constantly kicks you off the network and makes you rejoin every minute (resort fee provides broken wifi????), and you are not able to park in their garage after check out, meaning you have to park elsewhere to enjoy the beach.

The property could really use an upgrade. The elevators all smells REALLY bad. 2 of our pillows had stains and overall our room was super dusty. The location was nice but beach gets extremely packed! All the employees were nice and friendly.

The room was covered in spider webs, and there was pubic hair and make up on the pillows, the sheets were obviously not changed, they moved our room, which l inspected, they has less spider webs, and the sheets looked clean. This was our 3rd visit to this property but will NOT BE BACK.

We loved the La Jolla Shores Hotel! Our room was clean, bright, and included everything we needed. Staff was courteous and helpful. Our coastline view was beautiful! We enjoyed sitting on our balcony, walking on the beach and relaxing in our lovely room. Would definitely come and visit again!

The idea of this trip was a Labor day getaway to relax... During the first night, I felt ants crawling on my face, which woke me up and caused me stress! I asked to be changed to another room; the reaction when I reported the ants made me feel like the staff is not trained to handle any customer service issues. I would say a puzzled look was what I got; they did transfer me to a room on the second floor. (room 132 had the ants) Then a lady showed up at our new room and said she was told of ants in the bathroom- I had to tell her that it was the other room that had ants, and it was not the bathroom; this made me feel like there was a lot of miscommunication going on behind the scenes! The day we were leaving, the restaurant made us wait 30 minutes to get a table. And the pool is small and filled with screaming children horseplaying... Overall, I mostly liked sitting on the balcony looking at the ocean reading my book, but because of the inconveniences, it is not exactly worth the price. I asked for compensation regarding the inconvenience and they took $92 off my stay. FYI !

The beds were fantastic. Rooms were very clean and the soft carpets on your bare feet always feel nice. You can't beat the convenience if you plan to go to the beach everyday. My family and I love staying here every year.

Somewhat disappointed in our stay at La Jolla Shores Hotel. The property is older and showing its age. We sprang for an ocean-front room and the balcony was of limited use -- strangely configured with pillars and a weird zigzag design, and filthy -- although the view was great if you stood at the end at looked out. Other family members stayed at the hotel too and their balcony was lovely so it's not an issue with every room. We experienced a slew of minor problems (the door to the adjacent guestroom wouldn't lock; problems with the toilet; the hotel shuttle taking us to an event was so late we'd finally jumped in alternative transportation by the time it arrived; the staff billed the wrong card and it took 5 phone calls to get that fixed). Definitely nothing major and the staff was friendly and accommodating when something popped up -- even left us a fruit plate after the shuttle incident. Overall, I wouldn't say the hotel is bad, just rather meh considering the price. But you can't beat the location on beautiful La Jolla Shores. That's what you're paying for!

Overall, my wife and I’s stay here was okay. Street parking near the hotel was not too bad, and location was right along the water and was close to various things to do. The restaurant was pretty nice, as well. However, the facility, as a whole, was not all that clean and upkept, especially our hotel room, as it had some bugs in it, some blood on the carpet, and issues with the fridge when we arrived. Also, there was construction going on outside our room along with a relatively large group of people staying next door, so there was a good amount of noise constantly going on around us, even in the evenings. On top of all that, this place was not exactly the cheapest of places to stay. Can’t say we will be making plans to stay here again.

Great location, but for the price the hotel can use some love with up keep. AC unit barely worked. Beautiful restaurant sunsets and drinks, pool, activities for the kids and rooms were clean. We loved that we could walk around to the surf and easily store our boards in the balcony.

Loved our time at La Jolla Shores. Amazing location, with a cute little village across the street with restaurants and shops. Such a great area to walk (in either direction!) The hotel itself was beautiful. As some other reviews have said, it could use a little TLC. Everything was clean and fine you could just tell some stuff a bit outdated. The shower head was about 5ft up which my 6’4 husband didn’t love. Only negative was one night after dinner out we weren’t ready to call it so came into the bar for a drink before bed. The bartender was sooo rude it was kind of awkward. Another group came in after us and he scared them off, we left after one quick drink. Front desk and cleaning staff were amazing!

The hotel is always amazing. The changes made to the balconies however ruined our trip. Te charm of the ocean view was almost completely removed by the plywood installed. Plexiglass would have kept the view and atmosphere intact. The balcony chairs are too short to look over the plywood and enjoy the view. I have been visiting this hotel for 20 years and now question returning

What a beautiful beach. We stayed in a beach front room and it was beautiful. Great view and we slept with the sliding door open listening to the beach waves while we fell asleep. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was clean and even though they were renovating the pool/spa area we enjoyed the rest of the property. They had fire pits and games in the outdoor common area. But you can’t beat the location. We were able to walk to the restaurants and shops in just a few minutes, and were just steps away from the beach. Perfect location. I be would caution about bird poop, the balcony had a lot of birds flying in and I stepped in poop in bare feet, so make sure you wear sandals or shoes, or look where you step on the balcony.

I wouldn’t recommend La Jolla Shores Hotel. First, $40 day with your reservation for 2 daily water bottles basically because we didn’t get the rest of the promised benefits of the $40. One of our rooms my family stayed in was cleaned once and I had finally asked if they could clean it while we were out and the front desk said they’d take care of it, we came back to another day of no cleaning. The only service that was consistent was the kid taking us a chair and umbrella to the beach. The Restaurants overrated. Rooms outdated and our door was broken and we requested a room change or the door fixed at the front desk and we were told maintenance would be right over, it didn’t happen and at one point a man walked in on us because we didn’t shut the door (the broken way) we ended up using the chain while we stayed in and that worked as long as one of us wasn’t out while someone slept because the door to shut it was so loud that you wouldn’t be asleep after that. The amount of money we paid for those rooms I had hoped for much better quality service. Had it not been for the ocean walk of 5mins that would have been the worse hotel. They knew our concerns and they were aware we were unhappy when we filled the “How was your stay” questionnaire and I waited and hoped someone would have reached out before I wrote a review but that didn’t happen either.

The best experience we had by far, was with the friendliness and professionalism of their staff. They gladly met all of our requests without hesitation. From the front desk, to the restaurant staff and housekeeping, all exceeded expectations. Thank you for making our vacation experience a lot better.

I\'m staying at this hotel for the week. I\'m very frustrated by their service and their attitude. I paid parking in their garage. But tonight I found there was no parking when I got back to the hotel. I called the front desk for help. The guy on the other side of the phone simply said "We are sharing the parking with the restaurant. We only have one garage. You can find somewhere else to park for tonight." I was shocked by how this was handled. So I asked if I could use the handicap parking for tonight. He responded "you\'ll get a ticket to park in it without a certificate". After a couple back and forth, I got very disappointed by his attitude and how unwilling their customer service is to help their guests. The worst part is, he hang up on me. In the call, I showed respect the whole time, and not used any disrespectful manner. But I was shocked by the customer service just hang up and phone, and the degree of carelessness they show to upset customers. The room service never refilled the coffee bags when I didn\'t ask. the reality is I was outside all day. when I got back to the hotel, there was no coffee. Very disappointed. They charge a resort fee per day, because it\'s "mandated". Well, its service does not deserve the resort fee. If not for the location at the beach, you don\'t find anything they\'ll attract the customers. the location of the hotel is right beside the beach. if you are all "self-help", and don\'t care about the service, it\'s probably ok.

Location was perfect, we couldn’t have been any closer to the beach. Beautiful grounds and nice amenities. Two negative comments: 1. It took housekeeping 3 hours and 3 phone calls to respond to our request. 2. The walls are very thin, we could hear the conversation of the couple next to us. We didn’t mind it too much, but if you want quiet, this might not be a good fit.

Check-in was disappointing. Was told by phone we had to be at the hotel to be put into the “cue” for early check-in. Raced to the hotel, was told our room was in the “cue” to be cleaned. Was told 90mins later, there was no cue. Food and bar service was so dreadfully slow. I would guess understaffed in the kitchen and behind the bar. But, I saw lots of employees standing around doing nothing, so likely the hotel is just poorly managed. Priced like an expensive lux hotel, but in reality it’s a beach motel. It’s a $300 a night beach motel which charges $700 per night.

A big shout out to Ambassador Robert! The free shuttle service from this hotel was so nice and our driver Robert made the day! He was knowledgeable and fun. He gave us great information on the area and a walking path suggestion. The property is nice the room was small but had everything we needed. Ask for Robert if you have questions about the area! He even checked on us when we returned from our adventures!

What a beautiful beach. We stayed in a beach front room and it was beautiful. Great view and we slept with the sliding door open listening to the beach waves while we fell asleep. This hotel is all about location! We booked a coastline view and were in room 232. We were literally steps from the sand and we could watch the waves and the paragliders at torrey pines from our balcony. Carng service, a short walk to the shops and restaurants, and a short uber ride to the village or the gliderport. The hotel is a bit dated, but it's comfortable, convenient and the proximity and view of the beach are excellent. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is situated on the beach, just feet from the Pacific Ocean. The hotel is located within walking distance of everal restaurants, a convenience store, and shopping. I loved that I could park my car when I checked in, and leave it, until I checked out.

The AC was very noise. And the breakfast took forever, kind of cool of hot foods like it was sitting around after it’s been cooked. After the breakfast meal, When we paid for parking already .It wants to charge us again .
