Hotel Sigiriya

The view from the hotel bar and pool area is to die for. Hotel staff (especially reception) are happy in their jobs and helpful. Great breakfast and evening buffets on offer with delicious food. They need a better cocktail maker - all froth and little liquid, although you could definitely taste the alcohol. Gorgeous pool area but needs more sunbeds. Sadly, the room let our stay down - for the money we paid would have expected better attention to detail. Chipped paint, rusty chrome and damaged mirror in bathroom, stained lamp shade, safe not working (it was fixed). Minor but would cost the hotel kuch to put right. The the price per night was by far the dearest we paid whilst touring Sri Lanka. Overall though a great stay and we would revisit

We were a family of 5 and stayed 2 nights at this hotel; Pros: Lovely spa, we all had a really relaxing Balinese massage with Maha (she is from Bali and her contract with this hotel ends in December). Be sure to ask for Maha if you have a massage here. Lovely grounds Close to the lions Rock Excellent view of the Lions Rock from the pool Lovely pool and attentive pool guy Helpful staff (apart from the staff at the buffet breakfast) Cons; Tired rooms We are vegan and vegetarian and this is the most disappointing buffet breakfast we have ever had in Asia. The taste of food was average, labelling of food was incorrect, no fresh juice provided in a country that produces ample fresh fruits. No non dairy alternative milk offered for tea or coffee. Tables not set up for dining half of the time. Staff in the restaurant did not care for our requests. I have stayed in hotels where chefs have gone out of their way to cater for vegan and vegetarian diets. If you are vegan or vegetarian don’t bother eating here. One of our rooms had a leak in the bathroom which they were aware of 4 days prior to our arrival however they did not inform us about this. We had to stay in this room on our first night as they were fully booked. We were transferred to another room on the following day and it was a nice room. I would have appreciated being informed of the bathroom issue in advance giving me a choice to book elsewhere. Instead I had to put up with a leaking bathroom once checked in.

A lovely setting close to Lions Rock, great view of the rock from the pool. You can walk to the rock but takes approx 30mins. The room itself was lovely, and staff were excellent. The food was delicious! Only downside was that we thought the pool wasn’t the cleanest, especially the children’s pool - a lot of debris from surrounding trees, and you could tell that the pool hadn’t been cleaned properly in a while (slippery floor from suncream etc.)

Hotel in the jungle with a rustic charm. Room was good with a comfortable bed. Lots of ants in the room initially but I suppose being in the jungle that’s to be expected! Restaurant food was plentiful and delicious. We stayed three nights and we didn’t get bored as there was a good varied choice -buffet or the a la cart menu-. Pool towels available and the attendant keeps the pool side nice a clean, especially with his endless battle with cleaning fallen leaves up. Bar staff were very friendly but service was a little slow/relaxed with long waits for drinks being served at times. We had an excellent stay here it’s within walking distance to Sigiriya Rock which we did late afternoon. I would recommend doing Pidurangala rock for sunrise get a tuk tuk there (hotel will organise if you ask) as it’s extremely dark and a good walk for that time in the morning. We also hired a driver for the day who took us to Polonnaruwa temple ruins and Minneriya National Park where we hired a vehicle for the elephant safari (long, hot day but well worth it) Dambulla cave temples are also a must do. We found Hotel Sigiriya a good choice location wise for doing everything we wanted to do in the area. Thank you

Die Lage des Hotels ist unschlagbar - der Blick auf den berühmten Sigiriya-Felsen ist atemberaubend und einzigartig. Wir konnten diesen Anblick vom Pool aus genießen. Das Zimmer war geräumig, sauber und sehr gemütlich, mit allem ausgestattet, was wir brauchten. Das Essen war euch immer super! Wir haben sowohl mittags als auch abends à la carte bestellt und waren jedes Mal begeistert - die Gerichte waren immer frisch, lecker und schön angerichtet. Das Buffet haben wir leider nicht ausprobiert, daher können wir es nicht bewerten. Der Poolbereich war wunderschön und lud zum Entspannen ein, besonders nach einem Tag voller Erkundungen. Ein weiteres Highlight war der Spa-Bereich, wo wir uns richtig verwöhnen lassen konnten. Das gesamte Team war stets bemüht, uns einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt zu bereiten - und das ist ihnen definitiv gelungen. Wir können das Hotel Sigiriya empfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Great hotel with lovely pool, amazing views of Sigiriya rock.

The view off the Sigiriya mountain was excellent and why we selected this place. The rooms very nice but most outlets did not work part of the time so woke up to a "dead" phone. The pool is very nice and the sunbeds and pooltowels are nice. The buffet at dinner was very good but also very pricy (6000 Lkr/person even with a coupon we got at arrival). The service in the restaurant was medium - they were all busy collecting plates and quick delivery of drinks. The live music we think would have been better without singing. The morning buffet was not as good as other "high" hotels - no bowls near the youghurt, sliced frute box next to youghurt was not open and need to go for help - no musli for the youghurt. Most pastries was covered in glacing. Coffee and tea you need to pick up your selv as a because only 1 pot of each one sometimes had to wait. I recommend the hotel does as others do - waiters come around and serve tea and coffe - all on a tray including milk. I recommend this hotel only because off the nice view off Sigiriya rock.

Breakfast was buffet style and was included in our room rate. Very good lots of choices. Pool was great with a fantastic view of lion rock. We were a couple and only saw a couple of children in the pool, lots of tour groups eating in the restaurant. We had the buffet dinner and found it good value 4500sri rupees

This was out 4th 4* hotel stay in Sri Lanka, the views are spectacular and the majority of the staff also great. However the rooms weren’t 4* at all and in need of an update and deep clean.

Service outstanding from everyone working at the hotel. Cleaning very good. If something is not working they will fix it immediately. Pool very nice.

We only stayed for 1 night but would definitely recommend the Hotel Sigiriya and would stay here again should the opportunity present itself. Nice, clean and spacious rooms. The staff, especially at the restaurant (we had a bbq dinner buffet and breakfast buffet the next morning) were amazing. So friendly, courteous and helpful. The pool and pool views of the rock were great too!

The location in front of Lion Rock was unique. The hotel was very close to many activities in the area. The grounds were kept very clean and the staff was friendly and welcoming.

Die Zimmer sind leider in die Jahre gekommen. Der Service hingegen ist sehr sehr gut. Gleiches gilt für das Frühstück . Alles in allem eher ein 3 Sterne Hotel. Dennoch in Ordnung für eine Übernachtung

The best feature is the view of Sigiriya Rock from the pool. The rooms are a decent size and have good shower pressure. There is also a hairdryer and mirror outside of the bathroom area, handy, as one can finish getting ready while the other showers. On the downside, not all plug sockets worked and the window didn’t close properly. Also, we were told that the evening meal was buffet only. At 4500 lkr, it's quite expensive. We later found out there was an al a carte menu. If it hadn't been for the heavy rain though, we would have walked to one of the nearby restaurants. Not a bad place overalll for one night

The facilities seem old, but overall I was highly satisfied. Above all, this is the only place where we can see Seagiria Rock from the pool, so it is hard to change anything. If I had to pick one complaint, I wish they had prepared slippers in the room.

Much nicer than photos show! The pool surrounds and bar area were lovely, perfectly framing Sigiriya Rock. The dining area and breakfast was excellent. The bed was comfortable. The shower was a little awkward to negotiate but overall fine. Staff were very friendly.

A lovely tranquil place in a beautiful setting. The staff couldn’t do enough for you and did everything with a smile. Can’t fault anything - just book it!

We had a beautiful stay in the Hotel! The receptionist was very kind and provided us with the room early! Nice restaurant with kind waiter, especially Mr Hashan! We will definitely come back!

Lovely hotel and nice staff. We didn’t receive any toiletries for our washroom which was a bit annoying and the lady at the front desk told us she couldn’t break a large bill when we first arrived. Otherwise, hotel is nice, breakfast has a lot of options and variety and is tasty. Would recommend if you’re looking for a sanctuary/relaxation vibe.

Hotel was beautiful, fabulous view on the rock, nice and large breakfast buffet. Staff was very friendly and service-minded. Dinesh by the pool was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the birds. He gave us a birdtour on the property

Overall the hotel is good. good breakfast. however the level of service is terrible. bad advice. no taxi reservation honored and they gave us false information (sigiriya opening time). very negative balance sheet

We booked this hotel for one night with breakfast included. The hotel overlooks Sigiriya Rock and is in a very nice location. Breakfast started at 7am and after eating we left for Sigiriya Rock at 8am. As it was a weekday, we were able to get to the top while it was still relatively empty. By the time we got off the summit, there were quite a few more people, so we were glad we left early. If you can afford it, you might be able to climb before breakfast. After the climb, I returned to the hotel, showered and had a foot massage at the spa. It was relaxing and helped to relieve the fatigue. Check-out was at 12.00pm, which was good as there was plenty of time to spare. We had dinner a la carte. The buffet was quite late, starting at 7.30am, so it was good that we had gone a la carte. However, you need to be prepared to wait as they were busy preparing the buffet and having a meeting. The food tasted reasonable and is reasonably priced for a hotel. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

Nice location and a clean place to stay. But if you are planning on walking to the ancient city of Sigiriya it’s a 30 min walk from the hotel. Not a 1 min walk as advertised. The service was good but the food was at best average, specially dinner “À la carte”. Breakfast buffet had a lot of variety which was good but the food was average. Good for a short stay.

プールからロックが一望できます。リゾート感覚で延泊も良さそう。フロントでトゥクトゥクを前の日に予約してもらいホテルを5：30スタートでロックの頂上で朝焼けを見ました。歩いても行けますが確実に朝焼け見るにはアレンジしておいたほうが安全かと。

Hotel carino, camere pulite. Personale gentile ma il buffet non è di una buona qualità. Ho chiesto allo chef se mi poteva preparare la pasta ( la volevo calda) e mi ha detto di prendermi quella che era sul piatto davanti a lui. Per quello che ho pagato questo hotel mi aspettavo meglio sul servizio ristorazione. Camerieri gentili.
