If I could give 6 stars I would! Room was beautiful and clean, very spacious. Restaurant was excellent. Staff was very helpful and friendly. They are very helpful in planning winery visits or dinner reservations. The spa was a wonderful treat. Grounds were beautiful to walk and many spaces to sit outside with wine.

Absolutely breathtaking. Could have stayed here for an entire month. The grounds are perfect and the room was just a s good. Breakfast on the morning was delicious and convenient, and the spa was the cherry on top.

It’s a beautiful property and super close to downtown St Emillion. The breakfast buffet is a little lacking in comparison to previous years. They do offer charging for EV’s which is nice and ample parking for other cars. Pool is nice to relax and bicycles are available for a nice adventure

This is a truly beautiful property. Our room was spacious and well laid out and the common areas were all just lovely. The main dining room, in particular, was stunning with its stained glass windows and domed ceiling at one end. We had dinner here on our first night and really enjoyed the tasting menu, which turned into more courses than was on the menu. Staff were extremely attentive and my daughter appreciated their support as she practised her French -- something she rarely gets to do in her work in London. The property is part of a chateau so you have the vineyards all around you, and there's a beautiful terrace where you can sit for a drink to admire the view. Also, it's a short drive to other chateaux in St. Emilion and an easy drive to other places such as Sauternes and Margaux. Parking is free. We also used taxis and Ubers for dinners out so we didn't have to worry about driving on dark country roads. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Bordeaux.

We had a wonderful stay. Service was excellent. From the welcome to check out, we had a seamless experience. Our room was receltly renovated and very comfortable. The view of the vineyards was beautiful. Property was well kept. Pool and spa area came handy im the warm afternoons. Our dinner was delightful. Breakfast was included and featured local pasteries. Overall great stay and close to wineies and town of St. Emilon.

A wonderful setting for this beautifully maintained hotel. Great facilities with a variety of places to sit and relax whilst enjoying the local views. The restaurant for the evening meal was superb including the wonderful service, wine and food. Sadly, the breakfast is more chaotic with a lack of coordination with the staff. For the standard of hotel, the selection of food was average. The reception staff were incredibly welcoming and always helpful including a very handy shuttle service into St Emilion. The spa was ok but lacked the luxury experience to match the rest of the hotel. The outdoor pool had a great setting with views to the main chateau, grounds or next door's vineyard. However, there is no attendant which lead to some children running about and shouting so detracting from the relaxing environment we were expecting. Fortunately this was not the case on all days we stayed.

This is a very special hotel. The staff went above and beyond, the restaurant was fabulous, our room was beautiful and the grounds are spectacular, surrounded by vineyards. There is a pond with ducks and two beautiful swans who walk around the property. We arranged in advance for a picnic and had a lovely lunch on a blanket with an incredible view of the hotel, the vineyards, and of course, the swans. The pool, sauna and steam were also terrific. We rented a car in Bordeaux, and spent three nights at. Grand Barrail, exploring St. Emilion and only a few of the 800 wineries, dining at excellent restaurants recommended by the hotel. It is centrally located with easy access to the St. Emilion area.

Lovely hotel outside of St. Emilion. The restaurant is exceptionally good; the staff are very attentive and will go out of their way to make the stay better. The hotel amenities are also good (a lovely pool). The downside is the limited shuttles in to St. Emilion - given the distance from St. Emilion these should be more regular.

The property is beautiful, and our room was also beautiful, spacious, and very clean. The shower and tub were lovely. However, we were there during a heat wave, and the air conditioning was not very good. The staff checked it twice so it was functioning properly; however, it was very weak and the room remained hot. This led to a poor night's sleep. Otherwise, it is a beautiful and well-maintained property, with a very kind staff. Be aware of this if you go during a hot period, and you prefer a cool room.

I recently stayed in the “Executive Room with Castle View”—and it was one of the most misleading, mediocre experiences I’ve ever had. Musty Odor The lobby and my room reeked of damp and mildew. At a five‑star property, I expected fresh, clean air, not a scent that suggested months without proper ventilation. Spa View, Not Castle I paid extra for a “sweeping castle vista with a moat and swan.” Instead, my window faced the spa: frosted glass walls and noisy steam rooms—no stone walls, no moat, no swan. False Advertising The online photos feature a serene pond and swan that simply don’t exist. That’s not a minor detail—it’s deceptive marketing that ruined any sense of romance. Restaurant Fiasco Despite boasting an on‑site restaurant, the hotel turned away its own guests at dinner. We were left with a tiny snack nook and a handful of bar stools. A five‑star hotel should never treat guests like afterthoughts. Friendly Staff, Flat Experience Yes, the front‑desk and bar staff were polite—but kindness can’t compensate for a musty room, misleading views, nonexistent amenities, and no proper dinner seating. We had a memorable stay at Hotel Grand Barrail. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The entire property is stunningly beautiful and exceptionally well-maintained. The room was spacious and comfortable, with one of the best hotel beds we’ve ever slept on. We absolutely loved our time here, which was relaxing and rejuvenating, and we hope to return!

This was the perfect hotel. The chateau is stunning, and we had a vineyard room/view. Breakfast was a great way to start the day and the close location to St Emillion was just right. I highly recommend.

Hotel is a beautiful and all immunity is also very good but one thing room is too small so I would love to stay room longer but a little bit stuffy and bottom line is the room size is a little too small.

The hotel and the property can only be described as beautiful. The room was outstanding in every way with a terrace overlooking the vineyard a special treat. As outstanding all of this was, it was exceeded by the awesome Grand Barrail staff. Everyone was so genuine, pleasant and helpful; extraordinary! They really added to the enjoyment of our visit.

Liked: Beautiful room (large round room in castle with french windows and enchanting views), beautiful grounds (with swans in pond), bar and dining room had lovely stained glass windows, live talented pianist and nice selection of liquors. Disliked: lack of classic French dishes on menu to go with the classic grand hotel style - very nouveau food choices.

The hotel building and facilities are excellent. We visited for a short break after our wedding and got off to a great start - friendly welcome, tour of the hotel and a lovely card and flowers in our room. However from here the experience did decline slightly. Whilst the front of house staff continued to be helpful and friendly, those in charge of the restaurant and terrace area were less than polite, forgetting to refill drinks at dinner, seeming to be constantly rushed and on 3 occasions after we sat in various seats around the terrace/gardens rushing towards us and saying we couldn’t sit there. Despite the seats not being reserved at all. This was a rude and embarrassing conversation each time. We did mention this to the manager who met with us and apologised - however the next day we checked out with over €300 extra on our bill which we had to have removed. All of these are honest mistakes I’m sure, but for a 5* resort you don’t expect them to happen - certainly not that many times.

Amazing property but the staff need training. Dinner was very good as were the staff at dinner. Staff for all other meals were below average. The hotel booked us a visit to a local vineyard and when we asked for directions they sent us in the opposite direction. Luckily we asked someone and went back. When we complained at reception the receptionist said it’s not our fault it was google!! The vineyard is actually only 100 yards up the road from them and we felt they should have known which way to go !

Our stay here was absolutely perfect. The staff is incredible. The rooms are impeccable. The restaurant (we had breakfast and dinner) was divine. I was so sad to leave this spot and considered canceling the rest of our vacation to stay here instead. Shout out to Luna, Matthew, E’tienne, Enzo, Chef and his team - they truly made our trip magical.
Our stay here was absolutely perfect. The staff is incredible. The rooms are impeccable. The restaurant (we had breakfast and dinner) was divine. I was so sad to leave this spot and considered canceling the rest of our vacation to stay here instead. Shout out to Luna, Matthew, E’tienne, Enzo, Chef and his team - they truly made our trip magical.

We had a memorable stay at Hotel Grand Barrail. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The entire property is stunningly beautiful and exceptionally well-maintained. The room was spacious and comfortable, with one of the best hotel beds we’ve ever slept on. We absolutely loved our time here, which was relaxing and rejuvenating, and we hope to return!

This is a very special hotel. The staff went above and beyond, the restaurant was fabulous, our room was beautiful and the grounds are spectacular, surrounded by vineyards. There is a pond with ducks and two beautiful swans who walk around the property. We arranged in advance for a picnic and had a lovely lunch on a blanket with an incredible view of the hotel, the vineyards, and of course, the swans. The pool, sauna and steam were also terrific. We rented a car in Bordeaux, and spent three nights at. Grand Barrail, exploring St. Emilion and only a few of the 800 wineries, dining at excellent restaurants recommended by the hotel. It is centrally located with easy access to the St. Emilion area.

The hotel and hotel staff were excellent. The restaurant staff was not. We had lunch yesterday and it wasn’t crowded and the staff was very slow. Today they were worst. We sat in the lounge area on the patio, we asked for the menu, I took an hour and we still did not get it. Other hotel guests wer n n the lounge area and did not get service. Only one group did earlier but they had to get up to get salt because no one came around to check in them. After much waiting, we got up and ask for a table and they said they were full. However, the dining area where we had lunch yesterday was empty. Very bad manners and service was terrible. We had to leave without eating as we had to head to the airport. The sparkling wine arrived late and no one wished me happy birthday.

Would rate 6 stars if I could!! One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in, stunning, exceptional staff couldn’t do enough. Close proximity to St Emilion with the benefit of a free shuttle into town. Highly recommend.

Wonderful hotel with beautiful grounds and a top notch restaurant. Staff was very attentive. Would like to return here in the future. Saint Emilion - UNESCO heritage site is just 5 minute drive away and a great place to visit with lots of wine shops and restaurants.

This is a truly beautiful property. Our room was spacious and well laid out and the common areas were all just lovely. The main dining room, in particular, was stunning with its stained glass windows and domed ceiling at one end. We had dinner here on our first night and really enjoyed the tasting menu, which turned into more courses than was on the menu. Staff were extremely attentive and my daughter appreciated their support as she practised her French -- something she rarely gets to do in her work in London. The property is part of a chateau so you have the vineyards all around you, and there's a beautiful terrace where you can sit for a drink to admire the view. Also, it's a short drive to other chateaux in St. Emilion and an easy drive to other places such as Sauternes and Margaux. Parking is free. We also used taxis and Ubers for dinners out so we didn't have to worry about driving on dark country roads. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Bordeaux.

This place is absolutely amazing. The staff are all so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is stunning from the entrance, to the inner hotel/rooms to the grounds. It is quiet and has all the amenities. The location is also perfect with wineries and the town of St. emillion literally a couple of minutes away.

Lovely hotel outside of St. Emilion. The restaurant is exceptionally good; the staff are very attentive and will go out of their way to make the stay better. The hotel amenities are also good (a lovely pool). The downside is the limited shuttles in to St. Emilion - given the distance from St. Emilion these should be more regular.

Loved the property but disappointed that we were unable to eat in the restaurant in the evening as we were residents of the hotel. On the first night the wine bar was outside on the grass which was lovely but the second night it was in a smaller space and not exactly up to the standard we would have liked so we went out of the hotel to eat. Everything else was lovely.

6 stars. The staff was excellent, responded to anything we needed., remembered our orders, went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. Great detail to our room to make it comfortable. Great location. Self parking. Great breakfast with cool to order omelets. Dinner is wonderful and great wine list.

A wonderful setting for this beautifully maintained hotel. Great facilities with a variety of places to sit and relax whilst enjoying the local views. The restaurant for the evening meal was superb including the wonderful service, wine and food. Sadly, the breakfast is more chaotic with a lack of coordination with the staff. For the standard of hotel, the selection of food was average. The reception staff were incredibly welcoming and always helpful including a very handy shuttle service into St Emilion. The spa was ok but lacked the luxury experience to match the rest of the hotel. The outdoor pool had a great setting with views to the main chateau, grounds or next door's vineyard. However, there is no attendant which lead to some children running about and shouting so detracting from the relaxing environment we were expecting. Fortunately this was not the case on all days we stayed.

In general the stay was nice, but we get shocket when we come to our room under the housekeeping. Our glasses was cleaned in the sink at bathroom which are nothing else than digusting!!! It was chemicals in the toilet at same time, and we doubt that the housekeeper had changed her gloves. I immidiately forwarder our consern to general manager, but he didn't take it seriously! All in all stay not worth the money. How should glassware, china, and cutlery be cleaned in Norwegian hotels? In Norwegian hotels and accommodation establishments, the cleaning of glassware, china, and cutlery is strictly regulated by the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet). These requirements aim to ensure optimal hygiene and prevent the spread of infection, adhering to both national regulations and EU-based guidelines. Here are the specific standards and methods required for dishwashing in Norwegian hotels: 1. Strict zoning (dirty to clean): Hotel kitchens and dining areas must have a physically separated dishwashing zone. Arrived at 2:50pm for 3 pm checkin and we were asked to come back at 3. Room view was a wall and other side construction. When I asked how early construction started I was told we wouldn't hear anything. Then a really rude guy called back annoyed and said it started at 10:30am which is "a very reasonable time to start" I was woken up at 7am by the construction. We couldn't use our outdoor patio unless we wanted to watch the construction. Overall super over priced. Gym tint and no AC. I was so excited to stay here and was majorly let down. They also forgot to bring our luggage to room, had to call looking for it as well as no pool towels at pool. All the little things kept adding up.

Lugar lindo , quarto maravilhoso , mas o Staff da recepção não é muito amistoso com quem não fala bem francês ou ingles . Resumindo : hotel 5 estelas com Staff 2 estrelas . ( meu quarto não foi entregue as 15 horas e ao questionar o atraso fui tratado com ironia e frieza).
Lugar lindo , quarto maravilhoso , mas o Staff da recepção não é muito amistoso com quem não fala bem francês ou ingles . Resumindo : hotel 5 estelas com Staff 2 estrelas . ( meu quarto não foi entregue as 15 horas e ao questionar o atraso fui tratado com ironia e frieza).
